I either cut up 1 banana and mix it in to my yogurt or I cut up strawberries and mix it in.

My favorite way to eat plain yogurt is to have it with a small amount of honey, Blueberries and nuts. If I can't find fresh blueberries I will use dried or a different fruit.

Really! I've been wondering about Agave nectar. I'm diabetic. It's super expensive, but I purchase sucanat and cane juice crystals organically, so really it wouldn't make a difference.

I don't suppose you'd know if One could make jams and jelly with Agave Nectar do you? I have a special pectin I use for alternative sugars like honey, but am not certain about Agave. I may just have to try it. Thanks for your heads up on it!

Frozen thawed fruit works well.

Also try Agave Nectar - its low on the glycemic index and is super yummy. Tastes like honey.

I add a tablespoon of Smuckers Simply Fruit.

It has, well, simply fruit for the ingredients.

You can get liquid stevia in a variety of different flavors. I use the dark chocolate flavored stevia.

A friend of mine suggests cutting back the sweetener a little bit every once in a while and she insists you will eventually enjoy the taste of the plain yogurt...not sure I believe that :)

Drizzle a bit of natural honey. A small amount goes a long way. My Favorite is Orange Blossom but you can get lavendar honey, and many others. It's natural and while it's sugar, it's the most natural sweetener and as I said, a little goes a long way.

I recently tried a brand called "yogopogo" that was fantastic.

I think with the sweetness factor it's also a matter of giving your tastebuds time to adjust. I used to be the same, wanting my yogurt to be "sweet", but now that I'm used to it, I actually prefer it a little tart!!!

Try a different brand of yogurt as well, it depends on how it was made as to the sweet or tartness. I have started making my own and have had to play with the starter and the length of "cooking" time. I just wish all plain yogurt would come in a small tub so you can try it and not have one you really don't like left over to find something do with.

These are some great ideas!

I don't know why I forgot about the protein powder. That would have really fit the bill yesterday. The fruit just isn't enough to cut the acidity for me (so far). I guess I just really like my yogurt sweet. ;)

I should try the apple butter too... I had some a while back but ended up giving it away because no one in my family would eat it and I couldn't figure out a use for it. *sigh* Isn't that typical? You figure it out just before you find a use for it!

Another sweetening suggestion that was in one of the clean eating mags was organic apple butter,(I believe the recipe also had sunflower seeds and bananas). You don't need a whole lot, but it really makes a difference, just get one that doesn't have added sugar or make your own. I also use small amounts of either honey or agave nectar.

I add about a tablespoon of whey protein. Mine is sweetened with Stevia, so it does about the same as what yours did Shani. I also add fruit and a sprinkle of clean granola, if I've got it.

I also like adding frozen fruit to mine. I packed it for lunch that way last week and it worked pretty well. By lunch time the fruit starts to thaw and when you mix it up the flavors combine into the yogurt. It also helps to have a cereal/granola that is sweetened. My fav is Kashi GoLean Crunch.

I eat both plain & vanilla non fat yogurt - (obviously the vanilla is much more tasty) but adding either chopped strawberries or a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Blueberries sweetened it up for me (I keep large bag of unsweetened ones in the freezer)

Lately as I'm trying to be sure to have enough protein daily, I add 1/2 scoop of vanilla ice cream flavor whey protein to my yogurt & that certainly enhances the flavor of plain yogurt!

I hate to say this but I have been sweetening mine with splenda. I live in a small town where I can not buy stevia and keep forgetting to buy it when I travel to a bigger city. I do love the splenda in the yogurt, I hope I love the stevia just as well when I remember to buy it.

Do you know the St. Delafour jam? It has now sugar, it's all fruit comes in lots of different flavours and it's YUMMY! Anyway, I just had some of it in my yogurt and mixed it up with some raisins as well.
Also, I love throwing in pears and cinnamon!!!

try using frozen fruit. I freeze my bananas. The yogurt thaws them out and the bananas give it a frozen yogurt taste to me. Any frozen fruit will do it but bananas are sweeter than blueberries and raspberries. You could put honey but make sure you allow for the extra cals and sugar. I am having it for breakfast tomorrow with wheat germ and ground flaxseed and raspberries. Drinking water with also helps, because the meal makes me extra thirsty.

So, tonight I had some plain nonfat yogurt with bananas and granola (a Clean Eating magazine combo) and found that I really needed to sweeten it big time. I just couldn't handle the tartness/acidity of it plain.

My question is, what do you use to sweeten your plain yogurt? Or do you eat it as is? (I used Stevia and it worked very well, better than I expected!)
