I love pilates! The exercise for dancers originally developed by Joseph Pilates in 1914 to rehabilitate injured WW1 soliders. It concentrates on the core, improves strength, and circulation! I myself need to include more pilates in my exercise routine.
The goal is to be healthy, strong and happy. God gave us one body, so we have to take care of it (DA)
You don't realy need to sweat to get a great work out although I know where you are coming from. Pilates is great for you, especially after you spinn, it's a great compliment to spinning, because you stretch all those muscles that you just worked so hard. It also hepls to build a better athlete.
You are on the right track, and I don't think you can go wrong with pilates or yoga.
How will you know where you are going if you don't know where you have been ( keep tracking )
I have a Pilates dvd I do one or twice a week to give my core a good workout. I really need to concentrate on the cardio- I am naturally strong- but I need to do a lot of sweating to get this weight off. However, I do really think Pilates and yoga have some great benefits. I also like variety so I do a lot of different activities so I don't get bored.
I am excited about starting a class soon! I have seen people's bodies transformed by Pilates and they look fantastic and just have good trainers and stick to it. Legnthens and stregthens you and I have never seen any exercise give the results this does!
I was just wondering everyone's opinion of pilates. I did it for the first time last night, and well it's a lot harder than I thought it would be. It is definately a different type of exercise to get used to. Have any of you had good results with it. My problem is, is that I don't feel like I get a good workout unless I am sweating my butt off by the end of it. I have no problem doing cardio...but I go in spurts with any kind of strength training.
