Haha, it's easy: cover a bed of rice with sliced banana and top it with eggs prepared sunny side up. So yummy! I think my mom also put in melted cheese...but I don't like to eat cheese. Give it a try! I'm sure you could make it healthier with quinoa and egg whites, but the yolk is the yummiest part for me in this dish. I guess you could eat it for any meal, though I've always had it in the evening.
I also love peanut butter and oatmeal, but it's too good - too tempting to overeat. Speaking of oregano oil, I once heard that it was good for acne and so I dilluted and spread over my face. Not dilluted enough! It was so painful, even after washing it off!
One odd combo that my mom passed onto me is eggs, rice, and banana! It's like a dessert to me. I also learned from my mom to put fruit and seeds in my spinach salads, which was a foreign idea to a lot of my friends. I also like to take soup or sauce that is high in calories and lightly pour it over a massive plate of steamed veggies. It feels like the whole plate is a treat but I still feel good about it.
NOR1498 - I have been taking oregano oil for years now, but I cannot take it straight out of the bottle. I bought some very cheap herbs in capsules, and I empty them out & put 4 drops of the oil in & swallow it! Buying empty capsules themselves was expensive - so I got a a whole bunch of bottles of 100 filled for 33 cents each!
I eat some pretty funky food combinations. So, I was game to try the combo of cottage cheese in oatmeal, cuz someone posted that it made it creamy. I figured, I like cottage cheese and I like oatmeal. BUT, it was not a pleasant experience. haha. I do however, LOVE Peanut Butter in my oatmeal. And the weird combo of cottage cheese, apples and cinnamon. mmm Last night I added unsweetened applesauce to my brown rice to go with Porkchops...mmm. Any other weird combos I should try?

I added cumin instead of cinnamon to dh's pancakes one time... but I'm sure there's more mistakes to come. I like the salsa/hummus idea. I mix cottage cheese with flavored yogurt. It's actually pretty good... but I was thinking of trying cottage cheese in a black bean burrito... may not turn out so good... I'll have to let you know. OH! and I HATE the taste of bee pollen. I mixed it into my hot cereal FOR THE LAST TIME last week. I much prefer to eat a tsp or so before my meal plain, then the food 'washes' the nasty taste out of my mouth.
You have to make time. No doubt. Especially with kids. But I believe that our children need to see us doing things that are good for us. I want my kids to see me exercising, eating well, reading my Bible and praying, going to church, helping others in my community, being kind to others, and loving on their Daddy. Oh my goodness! These are horrible! I this is a simple thing, but I am working on trying to decrease my sugar intake. So, I was reading through another team and someone used applesauce to sweetened their oatmeal. I tried it! It was awful! I almost threw the oatmeal out!

I made the Porridge recipe in the Clean Eating cookbook.....last night when we woke up this morning I had a brick in my crock pot.....I think something went terribly wrong. I know it has a lot of fiber but?????
This isn't trial & error, but something stupid that I did. I have a bottle of Stevia Vanilla flavored in a brown dropper bottle. I also have a bottle of Oregano Oil in the same similar bottle. I only use 3 drops of the Oil & an entire dropper of the Stevia. I wasn't paying attention, and put the Oregano in my coffee - ewwwwwww!
I'm not much of a cook, so I'm always looking for an easy, resourceful way to make a healthy meal. I've come up with little things that work well for me. For example, I mix a bit of hummus and salsa for salad dressing to avoid the fat/ sodium/ sugar of actual salad dressings. However, I have been known to try some horrible ideas. For example, I thought that I would add protein powder to my tea instead of sugar. It was disgusting! The vanilla taste melted off and it was like a plastic top layer of my tea. Are there any "trial and error" learnings you can share from your quests to develop clean eating recipes?
