Today was my first day, and I have had a headache all day, which I thing comes from not having coffee this morning. Also, all of this water and fruit and veggies have me running back and forth to the bathroom!

My guess is that it IS detox. It shouldn't last more than two weeks, though.
Water and an awareness that this will pass. Think of it like quitting smoking or drinking or anything else that 'holds' you in addiction.
Toxic build up is not the only culprit. you get addicted to the sugars (simple carbs)...

Also, cheat meals (or as I call them, FREE meals) should not mean "fall apart and eat the old way" (you WILL feel like crud), guaranteed.
Example: When we go out to Pizza, I get a soy cheese pizza (mini) with spinach and garlic and a side of broccoli.
I love eating out- so finding ways to eat cleaner has been fun. I keep saying that we live in a great time where options are growing for us- both in the store and in restaurants.
My gripe: MSG & Chinese food. Don't believe a word they tell ya. If they ARENT adding it- ask about their use of vendor supplied soy's and sauces. I'm sure it's in there! So be sure you understand what they mean by NO MSG- it might only mean THEY don't add any.
For about 6 mos now I am having trouble tolerating chinese- and I thinkit's because of the high sodium.

BRADYSMAMA is right. Food is a drug and your body is detoxing. I got headaches for the first two weeks. I took motrin to help and continued to eat well until they stopped. Now when I eat junk the headaches and stomach problems return. So I try not to eat junk, although I do have one cheat meal per week to keep things in perspective.

Yes! Your body is detoxing and that can cause a whole host of problems. I am on a week of eating clean (again) after getting into some pretty bad fast food habits. And I have been having really bad excema. It is our body's way of saying Thank You for getting this icky stuff outta here! I agree though water is the key. I am drinking between 64-100 oz a day.

When I was much younger I started eating clean (I"m now cleaning up some bad habits) and I did experience headaches, especially in the afternoon. I was going to a naturopathic doctor at the time, and she said it was detox. Water, Water, Water, Water will help the junk come out! No headaches this time for me, but I really did eat pretty clean before I started sp....just too much. Oh yea....I was addicted to artificial sweeteners!

Has anyone experienced mild headaches from time to time after beginning to eat clean? I've noticed since cleaning up my diet, I get very mild headaches a couple of times a week. Nothing major. I'm wondering if it might have to do with a kind of withdrawing from the sugars and other toxins. I'm going to chat with my doctor about it if it doesn't clear up soon, but I wondered if anyone else experienced this when you first started?
