The best thing about Eating Clean is that it is not just a weight-loss diet. It helps the body find its natural lean self and stay there. It does this by keeping your metabolism burning brightly and by giving your body optimal nutrition all through the day. So people who have to lose weight lose on this program whereas people who have to gain, gain. But whether you are gaining or losing, once you approach your optimal size you will start to level off. You will not get overweight on this program, even though you are eating often.
In my book on page 88 you can have you husband follow cooler #3, whereas you should follow cooler #1 or #2. Cooler #3 is less strict and will help him gain and maintain an optimal weight. He can also eat fattier cuts of meats and dairy products with higher fat content. If you are having a salad with plain lemon juice, he could have an additive-free dressing. Try to make sure he is eating good, healthy, clean food and not trying to fill up on junk.
Also, you and your husband should start incorporating some exercise into your life. Not sure if you are already but if not begin to challenge yourself with weights and cardio. Before long you will be extremely fit!
