I take a Women's Multi vitamin from GNC. Read the label and see what percentages of the daily requirements are being fulfilled. Then check you diet and see if you think you need to further supplement. My Doctor told me I needed extra Calcium, so I take a 500mg's extra to make sure I get 1000 mg's a day. I also don't sleep well so I take magnesium. I take the combo pill Calcium, and magnesium. Also sense I don't sleep that well I take a B12 around lunch time for a little energy.

I think it's a very personal thing. I went to see a Holistic/Naturopath Doctor to get my regime. But I also got a lot of info from Doctor Oz's book.

Lastly I love the way you can see what vitamins you are getting from your food when you track. I fall off the wagon from tracking every now and then, but it really does show you what you are missing.

I also make Whey protein shakes and white tea and green tea.

Have a great day
Pat

What would the basic of vitamins be. Like a good multiple or the packets from shacklee? How do you know if the vitamins are not full of fillers and other crap that will not digest. Is liquid better than pill? What about noni juice, I know I have alot of questions . I just want to make sure I have all the facts. Tina

It's actually not my recipe... it's Brendan Brazier's. Typically I make the spicy chocolate energy bars. You can see a video of him making the chocolate blueberry energy bar @ gliving.tv/videos/ (when you scroll down, it's the 5th one in the middle).

He is one of few vegan athletes (professional Ironman triathlete). He is also the creator of Vega (which actually includes Maca in it). In Clean Eating Magazine, his book was reviewed and apparently he'll be contributing more vegetarian/vegan recipes in the next issue (I'm hoping/thinking this might become a regular thing).

For Maca in everyday life, stamina and endurance was biggest difference I noticed.

It's commonly used as a safe alternative to anabolic steroids. Adrenal fatigue is a huge problem people have and don't even realize. Maca helps the adrenal glands which plays a big part in hormone regulation. Brendan covered better in his book.

I hope this helps.

Right now I take a multi vitamin from Costco called High Performance Multi Vitamin. And like Urbanmommy, flaxseed oil is a "regular" part of my diet ... emoticon

Hi Morthian,

Do you notice anything from the Maca in your walking around every day life?

I've gotta pick up a copy of the book!

Have you posted your energy bar recipe anywhere?

Thanks,
Bill

I've tried several over the years, but I take only a prenatal multi right now. I liked the idea of Co-Q10, though I'm not sure it did anything. I took so many at a time that I don't think my body was able to use most of them.

I take a Bee Pollen, propolis, royal jelly, raw honey combo and what I notice the most about it is my immune system....rarely get sick when I am on it and if I do start to come down with something...I just double up on it and it(the cold) never shows up.....works great as a natural anti-biotic.....supposed to have natural anti-viral tendancies as well.....

I noticed a huge difference with Maca (MacaSure brand; Brendan Brazier also recommends it). Most notable difference in my weight lifting performance.

Rather than take flaxseed oil, I grind seeds and add them to energy bars I make at home or my hot cereal.

I'll be starting up the bee pollen again for a short while to finish up my supply. Doesn't do much for me. Then again when I last had it regularly, my eating habits were radically different. Maybe this time around it might do something. Might be able to find it cheap in a Chinese market if you're wanting to try it.

I use Co-Q10, CLA, Whey Protein, Flaxseed Meal and Oil, and Bee Pollen.

I used Creatine for 12 weeks; but now I'm off for 4 weeks.

The Bee Pollen is still up for debate; I don't know if I'm getting much benefit from it. The others...I feel confident about. Especially the CLA, whey protein, and Flaxseed.

(personally, I thank the flaxseed daily for my return to regularity. : blushing : )

How many of you take any of the supplements that are listed in Tosca's "The Eat Clean Diet" book section under Supplements & Superfoods. I personally take Co-Enzyme Q10, CLA and Fish Oil(1 of the Omega 3 Fatty Acids). I was wondering about the others such as Creatine, Bee Pollen, Holy Basil or Tulsi, Hoodia, HGH, Whey Protein Gamma-Oryzanol & Brown Rice, Maca & Flaxseed. Does anyone take any of these and, if so, do you notice any difference. I would appreciate any insight one might have.
