Hi there, Well, I made my soup and of course it is a huge amount. I'm not sure measuring out 1 cup servings would be worth the work...so I'll estimate:) I'll just call Tosca's large serving, 2 cups and that should work... It turned out pretty good although I added some miso paste and some firm tofu so it has more "character" as my husband puts it...
Have a good week:)

Sylvia, the one soup that I have made I actually put everything in the SparkRecipes calculator, and then put in the number of servings by the number of 1 cup servings it made. I don't know if that would work for you or not!

Thanks for your input everyone:) I too wish I had more freezer space...maybe I'll think about getting a smalld deep freezer for the garage.
Skinny...I'm glad I was able to crack you up:) And, technically, in my mind, I haven't quite reached my goal of BELOW 120. I know, I'm paranoid but that's the way I am:) I will definitley post my success story when it's time.
I agree with you that typicall a serving size of soup is 1 cup but not Tosca's soup....I think her "large serving" may be like 3 cups, no kidding!
Okay...I'm going to start chopping those vegetables for my soup since it will take a while. Oh, and my husband does enjoy my new way of cooking but not always my two chidren. If all else fails, I make some chicken tenders for them:)
Have a good one...

I think it's safe to say a serving of soup is one cup. But if it's a very healthy low fat soup, it's okay to eat more :) It's soup!
Soup is good food. Remember that commercial from Campbells?
hee.
Have fun kids!

The lack of measurement for serving size bugs me too! A few of her recipes have serving sizes, but most don't. I'm pretty neurotic and when I'm done cooking the soup I actually measure out the entire batch and then I know that if there are 8 cups of soup and she says it serves 8, that a serving is 1 cup. I used to just eyeball it and guess, but I like to know exactly how much I'm eating so this works better for me.
I like the idea of dividing it up among 12 containers. I wish I had more freezer space because it would be great to make up lots of single servings and freeze them. What a great idea!

Hey Sylvia,
I am new to Tosca, but not to soups and portioning as I work in the food industry. My suggestion would be to cook it all up and get the new glad containers and lay all 12 out and then just fill each one equally. I freeze mine then and have it as I really get bored eating the same thing day after day. I will usually do about 3 or 4 soups this time of year and then rotate through them. This also eliminates the need for an ice pack in my cooler which leaves more room. Hope this might help you and yeh, I noticed she's not as detailed on portions sizes as I would like.
Definately fake. LOL!
Today, may I make good decisions that create positive outcomes and may I have wonderful, loving people in my life to share this awesome journey with.

You are cracking me up. I wish someone would cook like this for me. Sigh.
Just use your own judgement on serving size. Noone is perfect, not even Tosca. Did you hear she has fake boobies? (Oh me oh my!)
Kidding...
Seriously, she's a tool, a wonderful resource for your life. Don't get too cought up in exactness.
:) BTW, please share your success on the success post. You've hit goal and we want to know how!

I have to say Tosca is driving me crazy with her nutritional infomation and serving sizes for her soup recipies. I bought all the ingredients today at the co-op for the around-the-world soup and it is an incredible amount of food. Just like the minestrone soup I made a while back, I'll have to use a huge pot (biggest one I have) to fit all the ingredients. Then for the serving size, she says 12 large servings....what the heck is that? I wish she would just say that a serving size is 2 cups or something. I froze some of the minestrone soup since we would be eating it for two weeks straight based on the amount of soup I ended up with. I guess maybe I could start making half the recipie but on the other hand, if I'm spending all that time making the soup, it's nice to freeze some of it.
Anyway....has anyone else noticed any issues with serving sizes? Since I'm so used to weighing and measuring out my food, it would be helpful if serving sizes were by weight such as oz. or grams. I like to track my calories accurately:)
Oops...I better go soak my beans for tomorrow, almost forgot.
