Yes...I have something very similar (maybe even the same brand), that has pink tiny dots here and there for being a girl. :D
One of my better investments!
I also got a "retro fit" on my bike. That is when you get a professional bike fit on an existing bike. I had issues with my left pirfirmoris muscle (it is the muscle behind your glute...is small and attached to the hip. Never even knew such a muscle existed until it started barking at me!) and someone on this site suggested such a fit. Turned out I needed a seat height adjustment but mostly, the distance between my seat and bars were too far putting unnecessary stretching that was killing my back. He also dropped my handle bars down more to make me more square. SO MUCH BETTER! I can't tell you! He was going to charge me $50 bucks but I also had him tune it up so then he just threw that in!
I used to get bad rashes and irritation and finally invested in a nice seat. It is slightly padded and has a slim opening in the center for that sensitive spot that both genders can suffer with "road rash". Got it on sale for about 70 bucks (normally over a hundred). The seat that came with my road bike was some standard hard thing. There were times I could barely pee after a long, hard ride. The new bike seat really took care of that. Well worth the investment!
That's pretty much exactly right. The one I've used is called Chamois Butter though. You're supposed to apply it all over the Chamois area to provide a moisture barrier so you don't end up with a heat/sweat rash. It's kind of like a lotion and it's shouldn't irritate any of your more sensitive areas.
I don't really like to use it personally. You might want to try it on a shorter ride before your long ride to make sure how its going to feel. I am usually just fine with a good, clean pair of bike shorts.
There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving and that is your own self.

My long distance charity ride is next week and a local rider gave me a few tips for the ride. One of them was to apply ofte,n Butt Butter. I didn't have the courage to ask what it was and Where does it go. I am assuming by the title its goes on the bottom but that's about it. I figure I could ask this safely behind the walls of the computer to avoid be embarrassed at the store.
