Hello! I'm Veronica. I've been struggling with my weight since I started college. I managed to lose a good portion of the weight about 3 years ago, but I still have 20 pounds to go! Anyway, I'm excited to be getting healthy and in shape!

Hi! I'm new, 18 and a freshman. Keeping my GPA up is currently keeping my weight up (I'm nursing, all sciences this year!) but hopefully that will change soon. I want to lose 60 lbs...thats it. I'm glad I'm not the youngest person on here...I hope.

I've been a sparkpeople member for exactly one week and have lost 7 pounds. I'm trying to find more ways to be involved with the sparkpeople community and have now discovered that I'm not the only college student that wants to lose weight and be healthy. Hello fellow college students. I wish you the best of success on your journies.

Hey everyone I'm Jackie and I'm a premed student with a major in history (random I know). I'm glad there's other people who feel the way I do, I feel like my whole campus is super in-shape and I don't know where they find the time to work out every single day.

anyway I hope to turn myself around by June and prioritize my health for once

Hey, my name is Shelly. I'm a nontraditional student that went back after a 8 year break. I work full time and then go to school at night full time. I'm majoring in Accounting, but do not plan on becoming an auditor or CPA. I'm currently working in construction accounting and after graduating, hope to work in management on the cost accounting side.

I'm here for some encouragement and ideas. Anyone know of a good meal to bring in your backpack? I only have 15 mins between classes and need something healthy to bring along for dinner...

The thrill is not in the winning but in the courage to join the race.

hi,

well my name is Suzanne. I live in Vermont, i go to school at Norwich University (private military university, but im a civilian). I am graduating this May with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing and hope to start working at Darmouth Hitchcock in New Hampshire. On top of being a full time student, nurses are also required to complete 16hrs of clinical/wk, i also work as a Personal Care Attendant at a home care facility, house/dog sit on a regular basis and i also volunteer every saturday at a theraputic ridng center. oh, and im also a commuter to school...although its only 30mins each way.

so yeah, currently i am watchng what i eat and i am trying to be active. i work out 6days a week for 30mins (burning aprox 450calories each day) and on saturdays i get my physical activity while volunteering (leading horse around for 8hrs. lol)

so yeah, that was kind of long. hahaha

Hi guys! I'm new and hoping to get started on all of this. I work part time at a grill on campus, but that will end 2 weeks (I have to give notice) after I get back. I'll be quitting since it takes too much of my time and I should be enjoying college, right? I've been there for 5 semesters now and it's too much. There have been some problems with the supervisor, too, so I'm just happy to be leaving.

I'm looking forward to corresponding with all of you!

Hi, I'm Ellie. I'm an almost 22 year old college senior. I'm graduating in May, which is exciting but also really stressful! I joined Sparkpeople back in '06, but I've been on and off due to a lot of different events in my life. Between work, classes and my internship, I'm hoping to keep with the program and change my eating and exercising habits for good.

I'm really excited that someone created a team for us!!!

I have a question: people say that college is was easier than a real job and that you have way more free time in college than in the work force.
Is this true? Because if it is I'm going to DIE! I really feel like I have no time. Especially since it's my senior year.

Maybe it just depends on your job??? Blegh. I dont wanna bea work-a-holic. I want to enjoy life and be active and healthy even when i'm old. Just like those white haired folks that run 5ks all the time.

Hi! My name is Meghan and I'm a 24 year old senior at SUNY Purchase College in New York. I am a Design/Technology major, which means I do design work for theatre. Specifically I major in theatrical lighting design. It's an amazingly time consuming major and very hard to fit in working out and eatting healthy. But I would like to graduate at the weight I was when I first got here.

Hello all. Relatively new to the site but when I saw this group, I just had to join. My name is Jessie and I'm a 21-year old senior at PSU. I have two majors (psych and marketing) and three jobs to pay for those two majors. Between the 16 credits and the 40-hours of work outside of class, I'm in a bit of a bind trying to find time to exercise/eat right. If you all have any tips/tricks/hints/etc... to help, I'd love to hear them. Good luck in your classes and on your goals!

Hey! I've been watching here for a couple of days but like everyone else, I was too busy to post hello!

My name is Kristina and I am a 25-year-old, fourth-year journalism student in university. I volunteer at my local paper, do a volunteer radio show on Wednesday mornings, work at said radio station for pay (it's a community station), and do school work. Can't wait to be done university so I can focus on my career!

Anyways, I'm not as busy as I was in past years, but it's getting to crunch time and so I'm a little more busy. I'll try to post and whatnot - I do want to make friends here to help me lose weight. It's getting crazy bad and the time has come for me to lose it. But keeping the motivation going, and sticking to a schedule to do it is harder to do.

Hope everyone has a good night!

hey everyone,
I'm not new to SP, but haven't been using it for a while. I've just come to Canada for a semester exchange, which is really exciting, but crazy and different, and all my good habits have been slipping without the familiar foods and support I have at home. My biggest fear is to go back home and have gained weight, when I would love to go back home and show everyone how much I've lost!

My name is Melissa and I am a 21 year old college student majoring in Aviation Management (flight option) at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. This final year of school has been nothing but crazy busy so far! Besides my 15 credits schedule I am the president of one of the aviation organizations on campus and I work part time. Time is a major issue lately.

I have been on this site for a long time now but just haven't stuck with it. I have a goal to graduate at the weight that I came to college at which is around 135. I am 160 now! No more step backs!!! I want nothing but progress from here on out! Good luck to everyone, I know there will be set backs but we can work through them!

Hey all!
I'm Jocie and I just started college!
I never truly realized the amount of work there is to be done + I work + I plan on getting more involved on campus, so in reality I'm just overwhelmed.

I realized that ideally I should have come into college at the weight I wanted to be, but it didn't happen, and now that I have less time is when i really want to do this.

I've lost my will power and drive to lose weight and get healthy and I feel extremely down with myself, but hopefully that will change soon.

On Friday I start ediets.com Deliciously Yours at home program and am excited about how that will turn out.

Thankfully all my classes for tomorrow where cancelled so that gives me time to play catch up :)

I hope that we can all help each other out through these crazy college times :D Though I wouldn't trade them for the world!

Hi everyone, I'm Chris. I'm a senior management major and bio minor at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I have a very busy course load, and I am very active on campus. I'm usually pretty good about working out regularly - but there are days when I get so caught up in studying or group projects that I don't have the time to hit the gym. Plus, on those days I usually forget to eat regularly, and overcompensate later with something less than healthy. I'm excited about having other busy students like me to help keep me motivated.

hi everyone!
i'm julie, and i'm a graduate student, completing my 5th year of college with a masters in accounting. i thought i was busy as an undergrad but apparently that's nothing compared to all the new work i am finding that i have to do as a grad student!!!
so i'm just trying to balance my schedule so exercise and healthy eating doesn't get tossed out the window like it usually does for me!!
looking for any support and motivation i can get, and of course i'd be glad to give it as well :)

hey everyone! i'm soo glad to find this sparkteam. i'm 23 years old and in grad school. and i work full time. anyone who does this i'm sure can tell you that it is NOT easy. but i figure if i can lose this weight now with all that i have going on, i can sure do it later when i don't have work and school and family involved. can't wait til i get out of school!

just got off summer break and i'm trying to adjust to this new schedule of night classes and homework and work after having over three months off. it's definitely not going to be easy, but i know that it is possible.

i'm looking for an email/phone buddy to talk to, so if anyone's interested, send me a spark mail or comment on my sparkpage. take care and i look forward to being there for all of you, and i hope someone can be here for me too! :)

Hell,
I'm a 21 year old female student, just joined the team!
After complications with my first year, and a year off to sort things out (and a 40 lbs weight gain) I'm starting university all over again.
I'm getting a BFA in Stage Management (and maybe Technical Theatre afterwards). I love being backstage but it makes my life super hectic... sometimes I work 16 hours in the theatre PLUS classes, reading and papers.
emoticon

I'm looking at class 6 days a week this fall. I'm more worried about finding time to exercise... I shouldn't have any excuses to eat badly.

hey everyone.. I'm 19 and looking to start out healthy at college in 2 weeks. my dorm is about 6 blocks away from campus center so that should be a start. i lost 25 pounds earlier this year by working out every day and watching what i ate, but gained it all back after backpacking in spain. so, looking to start over i guess.

I've been big all my life, and now it's time to do something about it as it is affecting my health! Hopefully with the support of my friends and SP, I am going to achieve this, as I am not very good at motivating myself! Feel free to message me!

Rob

Hey, everyone! I'm Sara, a junior at LSU majoring in Biology. Hoping to get into medical school. So busy just begins to describe my life. I'm trying to learn how to organize it better so that I will be sucessful at losing weight. I'm looking forward to meeting more college students in the same situation.

Hi!! I'm Sharon, going to be a junior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Psychology and German. I overcommit. That's probably an understatement. I've done so much that I literally got 6 hours on good nights. Sh*tty Sh*tty life. I'm trying to prioritize next year, and realize that pfft, what's one more thing on the resume if I'm not going to feel good along the way? Glad there are more college kids on here!!

And Monica- I hope you have the same luck and successes so many people are having here!

Be beautiful, inside and out.

Hi, I'm Monica. I'm new to the site, just joined yesterday :) I'm 23 and majoring in English Lit at Arizona State. I'm trying to shed the weight and poor habits I've gained over the spring semester. I'm looking forward to a happier and healthier me!

Hey everyone! I'm new to the group, but Busy Bee describes me pretty well. I'm a grad student + a working professional, so I keep a pretty tight schedule. Hoping to lose the last 40!

Welcome to our team!!!

Emily: semesters abroad are the best in the world, trust me :D I spent one in Greece and one in England, and it was the best year of my life!

Kate: I'm not vegetarian because I know I'd never be able to quit certain foods, but as often as I can I get my protein from veggies. I don't call myself a vegetarian because I won't say no to a bit of my brother's ham sandwich, but I feel I'm eating much healthier.

Hello!

I'm Kate, and I'm going to be a senior at Michigan State Univerity in the fall. Right now I'm doing the best I can to feed myself with a dorm fridge and a single burner. I'm thinking about going Vegetarian, but I can't always say no to a tasty steak.

Glad to be part of a team. :D

Hello!!
I'm Emily James. This September I'll be doing my third year of university abroad in Scotland ! I'm very excited to do some traveling... especially to Paris to visit all those bakeries and pastry shops!. The great thing about school is I'll always be on my laptop so sparkpeople will be close at hand to help keep me from pastry-induced ballooning.

Hi, Amy! Welcome to the team!
I live 50 miles from school, so I know what you mean. I take the metro, then train then bus. The bus part takes about 25 minutes walking, so I try to go early enough to do so, but normally it's either too hot or too cold to walk (it's a "lonely" road, no trees to make it shadowy or buildings to stop chilly wind in winter) and I end up taking the bus anyway. What I do is try to use the elevator as little as possible, when I'm at the library studying I'll go to the top floor (7th) and use the toilet on the 1st, and since I'm always drinking water, it ends up making a good workout! Anyway, I think the best thing you can do is use commuting time to catch up on your reading, make calls, sort out your notes, so you have more free time to go and work out once you're back from school :D
