SO far this year I am down 19 lbs and haven't lost an ounce in 2 months... I know I need to get more exercise, but cant seem to find the time. Work is a zoo and I am spending around 10 ours a day there and still cant seem to get caught up. UGH

Well, I just started onto Spark People daily in the last 2 weeks. I got the Activity Tracker and have been getting my "base" step #'s and set a start out goal for steps per day (hoping to increase it at intervals.
I also have been tracking my food on here and am amazed at the # of calories I consume daily (and I am not sure I have everything done right).
Both of these tracking tools are helping me see the reality and stopping me from deceiving myself. I still need to apply what I read and make that a commitment -- I want to, but something keeps holding me back (is that fear of failure, success, or just comfort in the old ways?)
So, that is how I am -- so far -- this year.

Faith can move mountains -- even ones made of flesh.

Hello to all! Today I celebrated a non-scale victory! I was able to zip up my pre-pregnancy jeans. A bit too snug to wear around but HUGE improvement from trying them on about a month ago.

during a duration of three years I have been alternating between losing and maintaining, losing and maintaining. After almost 6 months of maintaining around 160-165, i have finally (hopefully permanently) crossed over from the 160's to 150's. I realized, rather reluctantly, that I must make a new goal, as 160 is still not said to be a healthy weight for my stature. As of right now that goal is 154, dancing dangerously on the line between the healthy and overweight BMI. 154 will be fairly significant for me as it will be the first time since my earliest memories that I will be considered of a healthy weight. Though numbers do not entirely concern me, I know from physical appearance, I could do with losing 10 more pounds. just when i think im done. feeling good about my 2 pounds loss since late February!

Eating properly was challenging for me last fall and so I put on about 20 lbs.
I am stating right now that as of today this trend will not continue and I have set my short term goal as 5 lbs.

I will not play with my new iPad until those 20 lbs are gone.

not so great with my eating. i have been doing some mindless eating and have gained 2 lbs since the beginning of the year. i have not been motivated late in the afternoon or at night to be more mindful about my eating.

Happy New Year Team,

Time for a fresh start for us all. I am going to try to be more active on this team site and in my life. Now that I live alone for the first time on over 20 years, I can keep only the foods I want around the house and that should help.

Well I'm finally all moved into my travel trailer and set up. I moved to Reno NV last weekend looking for work. Its kinda nice only having myself to cook for and this way I don't have to worry about someone bringing in "Bad food".

I need to be doing better. On the weekends, I don't eat well like I do during the week and I need a grip on my emotional eating. I need to get back into exercising as well and re-evaluate why I started in the first place because I'm not ready to give up.

I've lost 53 lbs, eating properly, sleeping well, and have been consistent for the past two months. I also finished my first 5k walk virtual race about 10 days ago.

I'm stuck too. I think that I'm not getting enough cal. in the day and my metabolism has slowed. I'm going to concentrate on a good breakfast, more protein, better snacks and a small dinner. Just moving some foods around might do the trick. I hope!!! emoticon

I know it's been a while since I've been on.. I just wanted to tell you that I've moved and I don't have internet access except on the rare occasion I can get to the library and get on a computer. I've stalled for a year but managed not to gain any weight.. sometimes just maintaining is a blessing.

I've gotten a new job and with it I've joined a gym and started up again. I've doing well but haven't really weighed myself to see how I'm doing. I'm feeling a lot better and that at the moment is enough for me. I have my boyfriend's mom as my partner in crime. She measures me monthly.. I've lost an inch off my belly! Yay me! So, I hope you are all doing well and I want you to know that I miss you guys!

Klemei you've lost 20 lbs and that's 20lbs LESS that have to come off or worked off....Just move carefully and slowly, but keep moving!!!! emoticon LA CUC A RACH A...LA CUC A RACH A emoticon I think Mexico could be very slimming..The dancing, the food, THE WATER!!!! Karen, Dont give up, setbacks are part of life. I know, I have terrible hip pain its like its out of joint most of the time, Its been happening since I was rear ended by a Drunk Driver a few years ago. Sounds like you can still do arm exercises until you feel better... Keep your chin up !!!

Ugh! I think I'm forever doomed to be overweight. Now that graduation is over, I was trying to get back on track. Today was going to be my strength training day. Well, this morning when I was finishing my shower, I reached over to dry my legs and feet, and I felt a "rip" in my side. Very, very painful. emoticon

I don't think that sushi would be a bad thing for you!! It is considered very healthy in the asian diet. ENJOY it!!! Mexican food have a great ingredient...BEANS, avocado, fresh veggies, corn, just watch your fatty meats...eat chicken with it!!! I'm so jealous!!! emoticon

I hate the Gym, I hate the Gym, I hate the Gym.... That is my mantra for this week, I am still going 5-6 days a week, but am not liking it. This will be a short week for me as I am headed to Reno on Friday for the long weekend - No Gym where we are staying and I know I will be eating bad things like Sushi, Fantastic Mexican, and of course my B-day trip to Middlegate NV for the Middlegate monster (GIANT BURGER) big enough to split with 4 people.

My daughter's graduation and party are over---both a huge success. But oh the food. I split most of it between my son and daughter so I wouldn't have it hanging around here. What I kept is a lot of cut up vegies.

Now, no more excuses! Time to get back on the wagon and start eating healthy and exercising again. I really do feel so much better when I do.

I started a very intensive Detox diet Feb.1 this year and I have re-lost 23 lbs. to date!! It is always a battle for me to lose anything, but I have really focused on my food and portions more now than ever and I think that I finally have a new lifestyle that seems to be sticking without my moaning and complaining anymore. I don't crave anything anymore and I eat allot of veggies and fruits, with healthy carbs and very low-fat. No junk, no dairy, no pork or beef and no processed foods. Just good whole, clean, and healthy carbs. I eat more raw foods now than cooked. I really do like it and I have much more energy and positive attitude and some of my missing brain cells are firing up again!!! emoticon emoticon

Ugh, Brought a bag of potato chips to work to go with my sandwich thinking I would eat a serving and be done - Nope - I have figured out that I cant have chips. I took a serving and then just kept digging into the bag... ate about 1/2 of it. CRAP !!!!!

Now I'm really full. YUCK.

Well I went camping this weekend and of course didnt eat as well as I should have. Plus lots of margaritas (cinco de Mayo) and a couple of beers... Today its back to the real world and back to the Gym. Its raining here in California today.... IT was almost 90 Saturday. Weird Weather Week !!!

April was tough, health-wise, and the next couple of weeks are going to be extremely busy. My daughter is graduating from college, so we are pretty much concentrating on that. I've still been trying to stay on task. I've been using my tracker and exercising, but probably not to the best that I could.

I haven't given up, and I don't intend to. I know this is just a blip in my journey. Once we are over with graduation, I can start concentrating on me again.

April was a hard month for me. I kept trolling through the spark pages and never gave up on my dream to be skinny. I learned that through health I will become thinner, and not... Getting thinner will get me healthy. Last year I was doing the thinner is healthy, and I hit a wall with my weight loss. I am very glad that I had lost weight and I am planning to lose more, not just the extra ten I have put on since New Years . The difference is, I am going for healthier, not quicker. Sustainable, not drastic. I will increase my carbs to one hundred, which will help end the chronic constipation I suffered with on and off last year when I was keeping my carb count to fifty. The fiber found in grains has helped me a lot. Through my trolling I found this team, and I am glad to pop in and share, even if I am having a hard time. I got so much out of reading others who were going through tough times and were trying to keep the motivation going. I finally found some motivation in myself. It is just a spark, but I will keep it flickering as I fuel it with healthy goals and non scale victories , not just weight loss.

Losing weight is hard, being fat is hard. Choose your hard.

I am hanging in there, I feel better (have more energy) now that I am going to the gym, but the weight is not coming off. Whoever said that sweating helps you lose weight must have been kidding cause I am soaking wet every night after the gym and am down 1 lb in a month.

I'm down 24 lbs and have added spinning/cycling to my workouts! Getting better results calorie cycling, which still has it's ups and downs (so to speak!)...

I've also made this the year of what can i 'do' (as opposed to what can't I do, eat, etc)... Every change I'm making is something I have added into my life. I've also replaced all of the processed foods in my life with whole, healthy, nutritious ones! Again not focusing on what i can't have, but planning my food ahead of time to give myself plenty of options. Plus, I'd swear that there's an addictive element to the processed foods that they don't tell us about. Once I stopped, I didn't miss them!!!!

I'm glad sparkpeople is here-- if anyone is looking for a buddy to motivate or be motivated by, I'm looking to be more involved in the community here!

I am doing better on exercise. I made it to the Gym 3 days last week but forgot my gym clothes today so no gym tonight : [ I am starting to like the treadmill - That scares me and I am making my workout harder by adding speed and incline.

This year is the Year of New Me. New hair, new attitude, new health.

I've really gotten good at making my own meals. I used to eat out quite a bit (daily???), but now, if I eat out once a week, I'd faint. I tend to eat mostly chicken and tuna - stirfry is my favorite, because of all the fun veggies you can put it in!!

I'm also adding some lunchtime walking! It's something I've really enjoyed and have wanted to get back into doing.

Overall, this year is going AMAZING; I know that there are more surprises in the coming months!!

I started Dr Oz's 3 day cleanse yesterday. While Smoothies are not my thing, these arent terrible, The breakfast one is actually pretty good and the Lunch one is more like a cold soup... Dinner is my least favorite one. It purports More Energy and It just might be right. The smoothies are loaded with Fruits and Veges, and the shopping list cost me about $49.

I am hoping that this will jumb start my weightloss since I am stuck and have been pretty much this year....

Trying not to get discourgaged. The scale still isn't moving, but I'm toning up nicely and I can tell my belly is shrinking. Maybe one day, the scale will all of a sudden drop 10 pounds. Wouldn't that be great. LOL

I haven't been active on here in a long time...fell off the wagon so to speak and just kept putting off the healthy lifestyle I wanted. I had a little girl in October, she's doing great and is happy and healthy, and I'm at the heaviest I have ever been! Some pounds came right off after the birth but otherwise nothing has happened.
On the 18th, I found an old Weight Watchers guide and started counting calories again, I bought healthier groceries and I'm trying to get my boyfriend on board. I've just been walking for exercise (pushing a stroller). I feel better but I haven't seen the scale move as of yet. Guess it's a good thing it's no longer going up though!
That's my motivation for now, even if it's not going down, it's not going to go up again so long as I can help it!

Losing weight doesn't seem to be happening for me. I go to the pool 3-4 times a week, and I try to do the stability ball, or something outside on weekends. I record what I eat every day, and I'm always within my calorie range. I drink 8-12 glasses of water every day.

I don't want to discourage anyone from exercising. The scale isn't moving, but the inches are. I can pull my jeans off without unzipping them now. In fact most of my pants are too big. I'm thinking I'm building muscle now, so the weight will drop soon. But I won't give up. I keep on chugging along.

I am doing pretty good so far this year - I have given up on Second helpings, and I am going to the local Gym and using the treadmill for 30 minutes at a time. I dont seem to be losing any weight, (which is really frustrating) but I am not giving up.

Well, the snow finally stopped, and the sun came out. What a beautiful day. I haven't been able to get to the pool because of the weather, but I've been doing a routine on the stability ball that someone suggested. Boy! Did I feel that one. Today, we got out to cross country ski. If my feet hadn't started to hurt, I could have stayed out all day.

Really struggling with the route of my journey this year..Just not getting my feet planted solidly under me! I am really working on portion control again as this seems to be a problem that I once overcame. I can/will do it again!! Weighing and measuring..getting in my walking when I can(New England winters!) and drinking all my water is going to get my body going. I know it!!

I just started back after a painful breakup...egh. So last week I finially found a protein powder that I could digest and not become sick or just wanted to spew right there on the spot (what can I say I like things that goes in my mouth to taste good....ok didn't sound right, but you get it). Found this soy based protein powder, I've tried most of the different flavors but I think chocolate and cookie dough is my favorite for right now. Each one has about 14 grams of protien and I mix them with Silk Vanilla Light Soymilk (yes I'm lactose intolerate). I would do it with almond milk but I'm wanting the protien, so I might go back and forth. Anywhooo, I've started the turbo jam advance program today (yes, it is no joke). So, we will see in about a month how well it's going....

Hi everyone - I had planned on 4 days at the gym this week, but life has gotten in the way as usual. I am leaving for Arizona this morning for our annual National Conference. I wont be back til Saturday Night I have given up seconds - no problem, I am trying to eat healthier and am doing Ok at that, I still slip : [ and I joined a gym, and am hoping to make that a priority.

So Do Your best for the rest of the week and I'll be back in touch Monday!!

Been stuck on a weight plateau for about 9 months now. Trying to cut my carbs and up my exercise time to get to my final weight and be able to say I'm skinny for once in my life!! Like really skinny!! I'm excited but it is soooo hard working out all the time and trying to eat right for months and not much of a change... So far I work out at least 4 days a week, cardio 48 minutes 4-5 days, strength training at least 3 days for about 30-45 minutes. I just added in Jillian Michaels 30 day shred after I get done working out. It's low impact and only 20 minutes but high intensity so it isn't long enough that I get burned out and I'm not sore the next day enough to not do it everyday. I think it is met for more overweight people so they can lose weight fast but hey, any extra exercise helps. Trying to get working out a lot on the weekends. I don't have motivation to get up and get going out there on the weekends lately especially since it is so cold. I just want to lounge around. But good luck to everyone! Here's to longtime lifestyle changes!! :)

Things are going well. I'm on track for my long-term goal, making my short term goals too.
Scheduling my gym time really helped. I go 3 days a week, for an hour, and my husband knows that I'm unavailable then. He doesn't even text me! emoticon
Since cutting out snacks (even healthy ones) I'm finding it way easier to stay in my calorie range. I plan meals for work-lunch once a week or so.
Nothing bad has really set me back. Just a bit of knee soreness after a c25k day, so I'm going to take a week off and use the cycles instead. I want to be a runner, but at the same time, I'm lacking the motivation to really push to be a runner.

I'm really trying to consistently use my tracker....even if I don't eat healthy. I'm having a hard time with the exercise part. My pool membership runs out soon, and I won't get the same special again. I may renew it anyway though. I didn't seem to use it that much because my husband never wanted to go. He's not going to renew, so if I don't use the excuse that I'm waiting for him to get home, I will go more often.

Don't give up, Rayne. I know there are only a few of us who keep active on the boards. People will get back into it in another couple of weeks, when they realize summer will be here before they know it.
