I have Solly because I had to put a great pyranees to sleep. I don't know what was wrong with him, but clearly something terrible was because he was losing weight and snapping and snarling at people and his hair was coming out in clumps. The vet had no clue. He was a good dog for 8 years and then he wasn't. He sort of bit (didn't cause bleeding, but clearly threatened) several people and I started to be really afraid of what was next. So what could I do? It wasn't rabies, but I had a crazy dog on my hands and I loved him anyway. I bawled and bawled and bawled in the vets office. I bawled at home. I still - two years later - feel guilty and awful when I think about it. If I were dogless now, I don't think I would ever have gotten over it.

My husband got me a for fun dog - my first dog just to be a companion and not a rescue or for farm use because he hoped the dog would sit in my lap and cuddle me. Solly's done just that. He still tries to, even though he's 70 pounds.

A new love helps to heal the hurt, for sure.

Ginger, I'm so glad the girls have won you over. I know that dogs do love! My friend just lost her yorkie and the pitt bull lost 20 lbs. grieving!!! but she knew that the way to heal a little is to get a puppy. nothing can make you smile like a couple of playing babies!!! I know how much you loved Ginger Girl and trust me she knew too. She felt completely safe in your arms where she was most of her life LOL!! Bella & Katie lucked out by getting you and Don for a Mommy & a Daddy. I love Lil April like you did Ginger too. that was how we "met." after I posted that blog about Poodly eyes looking at me when I wake up!!

Hugs!

Yes Mary, Ginger had a good life and she didnt know she was a dog. All she knew was she was my special baby and I think she knew she was loved I told Don, if a dog could love, I think she loved us and espically me.
No, nothing can replace her, she was my heart! I miss her and will always miss her.
I knew that I would have to let go of her one day, and tried to prepare myself for it but you can never prepare for such a loss.
These babies have made a place in our home and in our hearts too. I never get lonely and they keep me busy!
They were the medicine I needed to help me along with my grieving for Ginger.
I was so blessed to have had her for 15 years. She done really well til the last year of her life and I could see her going down and it broke my heart.
My neice in Louisana said, that she can't imagine seeing me without Ginger. Everywhere I went, Ginger was with me. We went on vacations and she was always with us.
These little pups will always go with us too. Don is already planning a vacation this summer and looking on the internet to find good places to take them.'
Thank you for caring Mary, Hug little April for me. She reminds me so much of Ginger.
Hugs, Rosa

I'm so glad you got those little babies Rosa! Not that any puppy could ever erase the hurt in your heart, it does give you a lot to focus on and not dwell on sweet Ginger Girl so much. She wouldn't want you too. She was loved so much, she had a wonderful life with ya'll. She was a good little Poodle girl too!

Hug the new babies for me! (if you can catch them, that is LOL)

Thanks Kelly, It was a shock for me as she wasn't sick. It was her heart. There wasn't anything that could be done. I didn't have to put her to sleep. It was an answered prayer for me as I have prayed for a long time, that when it was her time, that she would pass quickly and painlessly. God is good, he answered that prayer. She just had her 15th Birthday on October 21st.
My, I don't know where the years went. I still wasn't ready to let go and it has been so hard for me. I think about her everyday and wish she were here with me.
My hubby knows that I have to have something to love, so he suggested another dog. I wasn't too sure about it, I just couldn't bring myself to look at little Poodles. It just made me cry.
My family suggested a Maltese. I got the ones meant for me.
They were in the same town and from someone that I know. She never suggested them to me. She said it should be my idea. My two girls are her little Maltese's babies. She also has the grandma and the aunt. They live nearby and we can always get all them together for visits.
I am so thankful for them and they do keep me busy. My hubby says they have been good medicine for me. They are making they place here in our home and in our hearts.
I thank the Lord that he gave us these precious babies!

Oh my goodness Rosa. I haven't been on here for a bit and did not realize your beloved Ginger had passed away. It just grieves my heart to hear this. I am so very saddened. I pray that y'all's heart healing has begun to some extent and that your heart pain is easing just a tiny bit. I'm glad that we can all be here for you!

Much love,

Thank all you sweet ladies for your thoughts and kind words. It has meant so much to me. I do miss her so much, she was my heart. I don't think that I will get over losing her but I will learn to live with it. On the urging of my hubby and family and friends, I have decided to get another baby. My granddaughter took me to see some little Maltese.
I first thought of a Toy Poodle, but not sure that I could handle that right now or maybe never.
Anyway, I will be getting a little white Maltese February 1st and her name is Isabella Mia.
I am the sort of person that has to have something to love as I am a big dog lover.
I am putting a pic of her on my Spark Page, but will have more when I bring her home.
Thank you my sweet friends.
Hugs, Rosa

Dear Rosa
I just read of the passing of your beautiful Ginger. My heart aches for you! I know the pain all to well. I pray God will ease your pain. As others have said. True you will always love her but with time it does get better. When my LadyCocoa passed I swore never again! But 2 months later I was way too lonely and rescued the little girl I have now from a puppymill.
Chloe is my world! She is a malti-poo. A personality all her own. And in time you will find there is another little one out there that would love to be loved by you. You have a lot of love to give to one of our fur babies! You need them and they need you! What amazing joy they bring to our lives!
Again my hewart cries for and with you. May God Bless you and wrap you in his loving arms!

Dearest Rosa,
I know & feel your pain as if it were my own. I have known the lonleyness & pain. But I also remember all the joy & laughs when my "baby Boo" was with me.The pain of his passing soffened, as it will for you w/ Ginger Girl. But I would not trade one day that we shared for anything in the world! Then after 6 months, I was so lonely I had to get another pet (altho I sadly could not afford another poodle.) Many of the things that he does remind me of BooBoo, but he has etched his own place in my heart. You have so much love to give to a pet, & there are so many pets who need that love. Any pet would be so lucky to be able to call your home his/hers as was Ginger Girl. Ginger will always be missed. RIP Ginger Girl !

I would not give up any of the love of pets, past and present. Their unconditional love is worth the pain. The pain means we loved deeply. The pain now is the joy then. You may decide you need that love and joy when the pain of losing Homer and Ginger softens. I still miss my other girls. My Maggie and now Jack have our hearts. We know the pain will be there later but we are soaking up the love now. Peace to you dear Rosa. I know your pain. It will change.

Bright Blessings
Sue

Hi Rosa,

I know you are hurting right now. I lost my little terry poo a couple of years ago. She was my baby. She shared our lives for 15 years. But two weeks after she went to the rainbow Bridge I saw Lucy and cell in love. I can't imagine life without her and she is so different from Shadow. A d a year after we adopted Lucy, we rescued Lilly and we now have two babies.

Life is too empty without furry family members. I do hope you are able to heal enough to reconsider your decision. Maybe consider the healing power of a homeless poodle that needs your love.

No poodle will ever take Ginger's place but another poodle can make their own place.

Prayers from Canada.

Tobi

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. It means alot to me. I am so lost today without her. Her presence is so missed by me and hubby. We do alot of talking and crying.
My youngest son lost his beloved Homer the day before we lost Ginger. He was his buddy and his pal. We are a grieving family, that have decided, if it hurts this much, we are not getting another one. They can never be replaced.
The hurt is too bad. No more pets in our family!
Ginger filled this house and in every room iis something of hers. I went in the closet to get something this morning, and all her pretty little dresses were hanging there.
Enough of this, I just wanted to thank each of you for your kinds words.
Hugs, Rosa

My heart goes out to you, Rosa, and your family. Ginger was a lovely poodle, and inspired us so many times. I know you have a poodle-sized hole in your heart, that probably feels like it won't heal. And I don't know if the image of seeing her romping on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge is any help to you, as it sometimes is for me, especially when I think of Chloe's last days, and compare them with earlier years.

I know each of my pups improved my heart and life, more than the hurt in each loss (but one of course). Maybe the hardest part may be missing the cuddles, or the eyes with their unconditional love, even across the room. While I'm sure Don and the grands also feel the loss, sharing it might well help. Thanks for coming back here with the news.

Hugs,

Jane.

Thank you all very much. I meant to come to Poodle Club page, but been kinda out of it today. Not sure if I will ever feel better again. I miss her soo much.
Yes it was sudden for all of us. My hubby was out of town and not suppose to be home til after the weekend. But he managed to get home and be with me and Ginger.
She went quietly and is no longer suffering.
Ginger had beeen going down a little at a time. She lost her hearing, had cataracts removed and had lost bladder control a few weeks ago. Her eyes were perfect, so bright and sparkly. I was so happy the cataract surgery was a success. She could see very well when she passed.
She always done very well til the last three years. One strange thing though. She use to have alot of ear inections and allergies, but the last year or so, she wasn't bothered anymore.
It is going to be hard on all my family as she wasn't really considered a dog, just a member of the family. My grands weeped so hard.
She had a good life and was truly loved! She was my heart and I loved her so much and she loved me too!
Thanks, and hugs, Rosa & Don

Sad news was given over on FB this morning. Rather sudden news at that. Rosa's (CactusFlower) lovely poodle Ginger passed away in the night at age 15. She took ill yesterday. It seems after years of giving and receiving love, her little heart just wound down. We know she is at the Rainbow Bridge, but it is still difficult news.

Our prayers and sympathies go out to Rosa and her husband, who loved Ginger ever so much.

Rest well, our little friend, rest well.
