Hi, Coco. Sounds like you've been trying to train your human with those pills. Me, I just take the heartworm pill with peanut butter and pick my battles. I prefer to put my training efforts into getting snacks whenever dad eats, which is a lot more (and more tasty) than one measly pill once a month.
My pal Chloe bichon, though, really had a battle of wills with my human over pills these past months. She's sicko now, so I don't think it was worth it. Yup, she gets little bits of food every hour or two or three, but the yummy people food is now banned for her. And now she gets lots of pills, and only finds one every once in a while. Then she gets mad about being tricked, but I think my human just gives it to her in the next batch. Personally I'd prefer getting informed, like Maggie wrote about, and my human does tell me about the heartworm pills being good for me. Anyhow, it seems the new vet told my human to make Chloe's wet dog food into little balls, which she says are easier for Chloe to swallow, and hide the pill in one. Chloe does gulp 'em down, mostly. Unlike the single pills coated in peanut butter that she licked off, or sorta hidden in cheese or hot dog or even a single wet dog food ball, which Chloe could find right away. Maybe she wouldn't be so skinny now if she hadn't been so fussy earlier about pills. I dunno.
Back to you, Coco. Glad to hear you've gotten with the heartworm pill program. I think it's simple enough that it works.
Good job CoCo. That stuff isn't all that bad. Hey, Jack and I get allergy pills every day in peanut butter. When Jack was on antibiotics, he got his pill in turkey bits and I got some just turkey just for being a good girl. We both like our heartworm pill and eat it right down. at our house, we are always told what is in our food and why. And we always get an extra treat for being good. AJck decided right quick that 'medicine' is a good deal!!!

My positive affirmation, said many times during the day: I am happy, healthy, slender and prosperous.
Mommy won, she didn't give me anything else to choose from until I ate the whole thing. Finally I gave in around 10pm & cleaned my whole plate. Mommy was so happy with me that we celebrated with a hot dog. It was yummy. I'll try not to give her this much trouble next month. I'm happy life will be back to normal now. .. Coco
Mommy & I are in a stand-off. I hate the medicine she has to give me once a month for fleas & heartworm. This month I have decided I'm not gonna take it no matter what. She has tried everything cheese, peanut butter, mashed potato's, This morning she even ground it up & put it in a piece of apple pie. I knew what she was doing & just turned my nose up at it. So we are waiting to see who breaks first. I even bit her yesterday, which I've never done before & she put me in timeout, & I didn't get to visit with the guest she had over yesterday. We are both frustrated right now. I'll let you know how it ends. Coco
