My Toy started marking also. This happened after my daughter had her female Yorkie over, I use white vinagar to clean the spot with. It seem to be working. I haven't found any spots lately.

Thanks Mary for the link. I will try the enzymatic cleaner, i will ask Petsmart if they have it in stock. He's always a happy boy, maybe is getting mad that my husband is leaving the house to go to work.

I'll keep you posted if it works :)

Also, have your boys been fixed? that does stop the marking for the most part.

Thanks for the link, Mary. I wish I could help Kristie more, because Tara does mark to send me messages when she's unhappy about being left home. Plus, I know marking isn't just a male dog thing. Chloe the bichon does handstands to mark, as mentioned in the article. She's definitely an alpha pup, and will also always pee on top of Tara's pee if they're together. IMHO, cleaning with the enzymatic cleaner's really important. Even some dollar stores have them--but it's important to read the label because some (and some Walmarts) started stocking perfumed products (that don't work) instead of the enzymatic ones that do. I also agree with the article about not using ammonia.

Jane.

Hi Kristie, I found a link for you that may give you some information that you don't have on marking.

If your vet has taken the first urine of the day and tested it for a urinary tract infection, then maybe the information I found will help.

This information is from the ASPCA expert line.

I was really surprised to read that females will mark when in heat too.

Hope this helps you my friend. I''m going to go to dogster and look at their expert information too.

Welcome Kristie, Alvin and Bandit. I must bow to the folks who have male poodles. I have only had females and have never had this problem. Maybe one of the other team members can help you. Hope you find a solution soon.

Your boys are very handsome.

Bright Blessings

Hi Poodle Team,
I have two toy poodles, Bandit (3.5 yrs old) and Alvin (3 years old). Bandit has decided to start marking again. We took him to the vet to see if he was sick, and everything came out fine. He's sneaking off and peeing when I'm home, but doesn't do it when my husband is home. We even bought a belly pad for him, and he still pees the pad and acts like he is marking. I have only been able to catch him a few times, most of the time he puts himself in the crate, and I have to start looking, so he tells on himself. We take him outside alot, but he is still marking. Has anyone had this problem? My other babie Alvin does what ever his big brother does, so if they are both gone, I can catch Alvin. He only marks what Bandit has marked and no where else. Any suggestions???
Thanks!
