No, I haven't checked with the neighbors. I guess I still can, just haven't had the time with my working 4 nights a week and sleeping during the day :-)

I agree something must have happened with that door. I have never had a doggie door, but it sounds like retraining is a good idea.

How sad. I'm not sure whether the problem was with the doggie door when you were gone, or whatever happened when she got outside. But it does look like retraining's necessary. Have you checked with the neighbors in case they saw something strange?

Jane.

I agree...something must have happened with the door. Never had a doggie door, so I can't add all that much here. Yes, retraining and making the fear go away via tempting treats sounds like the way to go.

Oh poor baby! I agree, something happened with the door. Yep, the treats and positive reinforcement. and the crate, but you know she may get really jealous with the others not being crated.

I bet while you were gone she had a bad experience with the door. Maybe retraining her to it with treats to show her it won't hurt her will be helpful.

Ok...Snickers is 5 years old and she has had no problems ever using the doggie door. Well, for several weeks now...ever since we went to the wedding and left the dogs here, she refuses to use the doggie door and has been pooping and peeing in the house. I've just decided to get her kennel out of storage and place her in the kennel for re-training. I don't know what else to do. Raider and Buffy aren't having any problems at all, but she sure is!
