Thank you for all the replies. I would hate to have to retire him because we can not find out what this is. He is my service dog and I can not chance him having an accident at a medical office or in a store.

I will keep you all posted. We have another week of medication and then we will see if this $90.00 a bag food will do the trick.

Wow that doesn't sound good. But it must have happened to other dogs if the vet actually had a medicine to give him. So I'm wondering why he doesn't have any ideas. I will ask my daughter who has worked for a vet before and is getting ready to go to work for another one. I only remember her talking about diarrhea and that there was a pill that would help with that. She called it nervous diarrhea or something like that. But if this is all of a sudden, that is strange!

This one is entirely new to me (thankfully)! I'm sure that you'll get plenty of comments from other groups members (as you already have) that will give you some clues. Good luck with all that!

Cole get that sometimes when he runs. It doesn't seem to bother him. I'd be interested to know what you find out. i thought it was because he was over using his system.

I have been fighting with Gibson and the vet for over 9 weeks now. Gibson all at once started going a peice of normal stool and then a blob of mucous at the end. We have been treating him with Metronidazole and it helps but as soon as he is off it he goes back to the mucous blob. We have had blood tests done and stool sample and all came back great. He is now on the medication and a low residue diet which is $90.00 a bag for food.

Any ideas? Either what it could be or what to do to help correct it?
