Hi everyone! WOW LingLing! Kitty of the week! I knew you were awesome and now so does everyone else!!! Congratulations!!! emoticon

Well today is the day! Teeth cleaned and a big ol bump on my bottom removed. The reason they are removing it is because I keep licking it and scooting on the floor to get it off. It won't come off!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Poodle Kisses!

LingLing! There you are. Congratulations on being Cat of the Week! emoticon

April, don't worry about that ol bump, BooBoo got them to by the time he was 10, but on his hips. His vet called them maturity warts. I will say Kitty prayers for you!

Poodle Prayers for you, April. I don't know what kind of bumps you have, but my veterinarian says I have warts, and that by the time I'm an old lady I'll be covered with 'em! Ewwww. She leaves them alone and won't do anything unless they interfere with grooming in the future. She does like to polish up my teeth, though, and mom says I'm due for a cleaning in August. It's scary, but I get treated even more special afterward, and I milk it for all it's worth.

Tara, I don't like to swim either. I don't even like to step into wet grass with my precious feet! And I love the fan, too. Mom has one in every room. She points one at me if I look too hot, and I love that! I'm only comfortable outside if the temperature is between 40 and 70 degrees. Otherwise, I'm too cold or too hot! Mom says I'm like Goldilocks, although I don't think a chair could ever be too soft.

Happy 4th everyone! Here's hoping those noisy fireworks will be cancelled... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi, Sophie and Lula and April!

I've been kinda busy here, with Elvis and Frost rassling just a lil bit to show who's top pup. Of course, I am, but I don't have to show it like the boypups! Anyhow, it's real hot here in Arlington too, so we've been doing morning walks like lots of other pups, and some sunset or night walks too, not that it gets much cooler by then. A couple of days ago, we went to the woods and a doggie beach and met a labradoodle named Uno who was OK, but wet from swimming. Not for me thanks, just sips of cool water, and some of the special frozen chicken (I have no idea why Elvis doesn't like it, but I'll help him out of course).

Maybe a little fan time too, since we're not in full fur, not not shaved either. I'm glad our A/C is OK, and the fans too, specially after my human replaced one that got real noisy. Last night we had a storm with some scary lightning and thunder, so I snuggled next to my human, and Elvis kept watch from her shoulder and Frost from her knees. It only gets crowded in the car, cuz her lap's not big enough for all of us, plus she says she's gotta drive and tells dad to take us on his lap, which isn't the same thing, no way.

Anyhow, we took a little history schmistory trip with Elvis last weekend into Virginia and Maryland kinda near where I was raised. He liked it, 'cept for a rumbly bridge, and some really loud motorbikes. We got lots of admirers, plus some licks of ice cream cooled us down after taking a few sniffs and showing our tails outside the nice car A/C. There was some nice grass to roll in too, and of course we left pmail. Frost wanted to catch a hedgehog, among other things, but my human said no. Like with the crazy boypup barking at Daisy yesterday, who fortunately had the sense not to snap back at the dogpark. My human said we might go for another history schmistory trip on the Fourth, which is tomorrow, but now the TV is worrying lots about a hurricane and storm and stuff. We pups don't mind at all if they cancel the noisy fireworks.

Hope you're all still having fun and staying cool. Plus, we're saying poodle prayers for you, April, and for Maggie and her human, who we miss lots. And LingLing too, tho it's only been weeks...

Wags,

Tara.

Poodle prayers coming your way! I'm a bumpy poodle, or so my mom says. I had to have one removed from my neck, and I have another one on my shoulder. You'll be fine - I'm only seven so it has nothing to do with age.

Poodle kisses,

Wow raised by cats! Did your Mommy let you have some cat food?? Mommy took me over to her job where she baby sits and cleans house cause I had a vet appointment. She forgot to bring my treats for when I do my business so she let me have a little cat food as a treat! YUM!!!

I have to have my teeth cleaned next Thursday and while they are doing it, they are going to remove a big place on my bottom that Mommy calls an "old lady bump," (ARE you kidding? I'm not old I'm only ten!!!) So I would like some Poodle Prayers please!!

Well, Mommy is going to the pool today. As for me, I shall be on my Princess chair, snoozing in the air conditioning! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm not that fond of dog parks. Too many dogs! And yes, some of them are definitely rude. I guess I'm shy because I was raised by cats.

This morning I was sitting on my ottoman looking out the front window, and I saw a black cat! I barked and barked like mad, and mom just laughed at the way that cat stood there looking at me for the longest time. Mom said it was "taunting" me, which she thought was pretty funny.

This reminded me that LingLing hasn't been around here lately. I hope you'll come back, because I love cats -- for lunch! I'm just kidding, I swear. Hope to hear from you soon.

Oh Sophie! A cat door and not a Poodle door? Your humans have their priorities mixed up obviously! I am not a barker to get outside either. I will come and ponk my Poodly eyes at Mommy, but if she doesn't notice, I give a low growl and she notices immediately! I always get walked cause we live in apartments and there are too many people who would like to scoop my tiny little Poodly self up and take me to their home! NO WAY!!!

I don't like the dog parks just because of rude butt sniffers and even more rude humpers, Miss Lulu. I actually growled and snapped at a rude dog once for trying that with me. Oh no! I'm not that kind of a girl! Harumph!!!

It is very hot here in Alabama now. heat indexes in the hundreds! I go out for walks early and late. in between times, Mommy just lets me go out to the patio and tee tee on the grass.

Well, it's time for some petting!!!

Poodle kisses

Sophie, I can't believe you have to stick your head through the kitty door to ask to come back in! I'll bet they laugh about it and even take pictures, don't they?

I haven't tried the cold-nose-under-the-arm trick yet, but I'll add it to my arsenal.

I don't bark when I want to go out, either. Instead, I scratch the aluminum on the side of the sliding door, and mommy says it makes a sound like "nails on a chalkboard." Very effective! It only takes three scratches at most to get her to come running and open the door for me.

I sure am enjoying a good walk every morning! When she asks if I want to go for a walk (silly question!) I can't help but jump up and down and run all around and around! Mommy tries to get my leash on me but I'm so excited that I can't sit still!

The neighborhood is SO exciting! Today a lady said I was cute, and I met a scotty dog too. His mom told us about the Little Dog Park just a mile from here. I don't know if mommy will take me or not. I usually just stand around, but the last time she took me to a dog park, a boy poodle tried to get fresh with me, and I *totally snapped*! I spun around and got him in a head lock and gave him the what-for. The humans had to break up the fight. We didn't hurt each other -- it sounded much worse than it was. I am NOT that kind of dog and I let him know it. I'd never been in a fight before, and mommy was real surprised at seeing a side of me she never saw before.

Mommy never took me to the dog park again after that, on account of all the dirty looks she got. But I think those Humans need to remember that under our pretty poodly-doodly fur is an animal with a set of fangs, and sometimes that side of us comes out, despite how much anthropomorphizing you do.

Have a great day filled with lots of treats and belly rubs,

Miss Lula

Hi poodles!

I'm called the Underfootle, because I'm always underfoot and almost trip everyone. I just want to be close. When I meet someone new, the way I show them I'm a friend is to sit on their feet. Of course they complain about my bony butt.

I'm a svelte 43 pounds, but I think I'm a lapdog.

Yes, poodly eyes will get you a lot, but so will a cold nose under the arm. Or a climb in a lap. I do that when I want to be let outside. My mom wonders why I won't bark to be let out, but I prefer my own method.

As for coming back in, there's a cat door (how unfair is that!) I stick my head in and bark indignantly. That usually gets me back in. I hear my nephew Ze'ev rings a bell to be let out and in. To each his own.

I'm spending the day supervising the work at home: mom's bathroom is being redone. All the workers are very nice, they greet me by name, and they let me out and in.

Hope all you poodles and friends have a wonderful week,

Sophie

Hi Lula!

Yep I am ten years old and I have learned how to get foods, treats and loves, just with my magic eyes! Hehehehe!! Also, when Mommy is lying on the couch, I walk up her leg and lay on the curve of tummy. That is my favorite place and sometimes I just sleep there all night. Mommy sleeps on the couch a lot cause she falls asleep watching tv.

Welp, I gotta go see what's for breakfast!

April, my mommy calls me her "white shadow" because I'm seldom more than two feet away from her at any given time. Grandma says we're just like "Mary and her Little Lamb," and I love lambs, they are quite yummy.

There's nothing like that stare we do with our poodly eyes to get what we want! They are powerless in our gaze HAHAHAHAHA!!! I've been studying her closely every day for 8 years, and through trial and error I learned the most effective tactics. The stare is what will get us what we want! Mommy calls me a "master manipulator," but she thinks it's cute that I'm so smart.HAHAHAHA! emoticon

I can't believe you're only 5 pounds! I weigh 18, at least the last time anyone checked. I make sure to be very uncooperative on the vet's scale so they can never really know for sure! Mommy says I'm the perfect size to hug and squeeze, but every time she picks me up she screams "OMG you're giving me a HERNIA!!!" I'm not sure exactly what a hernia is. It doesn't sound good, but she loves me anyway. I gave her a tick once, too. At least she can't say I never gave her anything!

Happy Napping,
Miss Lula

Hi Lula, Ling Ling and everyone!!

I love chicken too! If I want something, I just sit and stare at Mommy with my tiny little Poodley eyes. She can't take it HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Then it's up to her to figure out what I want! I get a treat after each time I do my business. and then I go to my Mommy's best friend's house and I eat all of her black Pomeranian's food!. Then when he comes here, I growl at him if he tries to eat mine! YES!!! I"M THE BOSS APPLESAUCE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Mommy calls me her velcro dog because I am always in her arms or right beside her. Yep, I'm a Mommy's baby!

Well, it's Sunday morning and time for my nap!

Hi Lulu, April & Tara,
Sheesh! It still has not cooled down any, in fact Sean Parker, weatherman, said it was 93 today. It got kinda windy this afternoon & one of mom's tomato plants blew over. Mom just picked it up, but the breeze sure did feel good while it lasted.
Ha Lulu, when I want to b fed, my brother used to hit his bowl & whine & so do I. But, when I just want a treat, I sit at mommy's feet & just whine. That works every time!
Royalty runs in my family, my brother was prince of S. Al., until we moved, then he was prince of N. Ms. Now mom says that I'm prince of N. Ms emoticon .
I love cheese emoticon to & shrimp emoticon ( BooBoo loved shrimp to & so does mommy ) emoticon . So I get lots of fresh, boiled shrimp, yummy!

Hi April, LingLing and everyone else!

I am also a princess, the Princess of North Carolina! emoticon It's real hot here, too, but the thermostat never goes below 76. If I look hot mommy turns the fan on me, and I love that!

My mommy cooks chicken for me, too emoticon
She gets the thin-sliced breasts and bakes them up oh so yummy. I love them best when they're still warm from the oven. Chop-lickin' good!

I've tried Blue Buffalo, Fresh Pet, all of 'em. I do eat some kibble every day if it's doctored up just right, but I won't eat it until late in the evening when I'm sure the kitchen is closed and there's no chance of anything better. What mommy does is get a couple of cubes of freeze-dried liver and pulverizes it on top of the kibble, and that makes it semi-tolerable. I do love that liver!

When I want a treat, I let her know by throwing stuff at her. You should try it! I have a basket filled with toys emoticon and I take them out one by one and toss them at her. If she ignores me, I tip the whole basket over! If she still ignores me, I take a nap and try again later.

Another great tactic I use is to sit patiently and stare at the cookie jar, for however long it takes. Give that one a whirl and let me know how it goes.

Sometimes she tries to give me these terrible things called vegetables. emoticon
Blech, I hate those! Mommy says lots of dogs eat string beans and carrots, but I won't go near them. No way, no how! Cheese is what I love! emoticon And pizza! She only gave me the crusts, but now she's on this freaking low-carb diet and doesn't eat it any more. Says she doesn't even miss it! emoticon I'm not so sure I believe that, and I'm waiting for the day she caves and calls the man that brings the pizza to our house...

I'm not so sure I like this Spark thing, but I sure do like my walks. Mommy's been wearing a heart rate monitor and she's all jazzed up about it. She's even threatened to put it on ME, heavens to betsy -- things are getting out of hand here. When she looks at me now she sees a CALORIE BURNING OPPORTUNITY. Heck, I don't care, as long as it gets us out the door.

Hi Tara, Lulu, & April,
So glad to hear from all of you. Just like N Al., it has been very hot in N. Ms. Mom NEVER puts the A/C below 72 but day before yesterday she put it on 68. I thought it was that nice out, so when mom opened the door to go to Physical Therapy, I quick slipped out the door,
BUT QUICKLY FOUND OUT JUST HOW HOT IT WAS. It has been in the low to mid 90's all week. emoticon emoticon Chicken, did someone say chicken? I'll take as much chicken as I can get! YUM!

Hi Poodles, Doodles, Kitties & Peeps! And a special hi to Lula! You are so cute!

Has your Mama tried blue buffalo and then put some fresh pet on it? Nummy to my tummy! Course, I get treats too, but not much people food unless it's chicken. I get a tummy upset if I eat too much of it. That's probably cause I only weigh five pounds, but I would certainly love to have more chicken! Smack smack!!!

It's so hot here in Alabama that Mommy says we are sweltering, whatever that means. We go early on our walks too. The only thing is, I like to sleep in! HELLO!!!! I'm the North Alabama Princess you can't just go making me get up to walk at 6 in the morning!!! HAHAHAJHAHA!!!

Well Mommy started this new job at my Vets office. She smells like so many different doggies!! I hope none of them get the "buttectomy" treatment of the spoon in the butt to check for worms!! I say again, I am a PRINCESS!!!

Ok time for Mommy to go get in the shower! Have a nice day!!

Thanks for the welcome, Tara and Frost! Sure sounds like you had fun on your drive. I hate it when my human goes out in the car without me! She does it every day! Why can't she take me? I sit on my ottoman by the window and wait for her to come back. When she does get home, she always goes on and on about how cute my face looks in the window. I can't wait until she opens that door so I can slather her with kisses.

I'm so glad she's started this Spark thing. She's been taking me for a walk fist thing every morning! We have to go early, before it gets hot. Today it will be 97, and I don't like that at all. Mommy says it's due to my layer of blubber, which she's trying to work on, but I know just how to look at her to get a treat or a few bites of her dinner. Maybe the walks will help! Mommy says her "muffin top" is shrinking, but she says I still look like a barrel on legs. That's an exaggeration, but it's kinda true. One time mommy took me to the veterinarian and the tech asked what I eat, and when she heard she exclaimed "She's eating a SMORGASBORD!" Mommy looked pretty guilty about that. I REFUSE to eat kibble. I've tried every brand and they're all terrible! YUCK.

Well it's time for my second nap of the day, and I've got to get in a least six before bedtime so I'd better get crackin'. Talk to you later!

Hi, all. Something tells me that it's either LingLing's human's birthday. emoticon

And Lula, emoticon emoticon emoticon

Me and Frost are having a little trouble getting our human online, maybe because we're driving lots in the A/C, except when we get abandoned at home cuz my human say it's real hot. Well, I thought it was just one of her trimsy fits, like I told Frost. Then it really was hot and I appreciated our water bowl and a few licks of ice cream, But one day we had thunder, which was scary, and she says we're gonna have storms Thursday, which is a bummer.

Anyway, the weather these last few weekends was poodelicious, and I hope it's good this weekend cuz I think Elvis is coming over, which is gonna be totally terrific. I finally got to see the king of rock and roll about a week ago and he did his jump thing into my human's arms. I was real glad she didn't drop him like when he surprised her once.

Anyway, me and Frost had a couple of history schmistory trips in Maryland. First we went up to Philadelphia from Easton. We drove across a real long and high bridge, so the boats seemed so teeny. After a nice walk (and lots of admirers) we drove even more. We stopped for a festival, and met a few admirers, and also a lady with alpacas who told us to get away because they might try to stomp Frost cuz he was doing his barkpuppy thing with a big youngpup. Seems lots of critters were forgetting their Maryland manners there. Then we drove more into Delaware and my human said some signs were about the Underground Railroad. But I know we didn't go underground at all, cuz I could see sunshine all around. Seems there was a real bad bridge problem in Delaware, so on the way back with lotsa traffic we stopped in Wilmington and met more admirers.

Then last weekend we went to Frederick. We passed Poolesville and I wondered how Maggie and her human are doing. Again, lots of admirers, and my human seemed to tell everyone about our rescue, which got a little boring, so a couple of times I just relaxed and sat or laid down. Yup, lots of pix too, but no online uploads. The best part was the water that a real gentlepup called Chumley shared. He definitely had Maryland manners.

Well, gotta go now. Oh, and Sophie, emoticon

Wags,

Tara.

Thank U , mommy does miss him so, but he's happier now over the Rainbow Bridge. He was such a happy, vibrant youth, mommy takes pleasure in remembering him that way, But thank you.
I'm sure your walks must be exciting now. I'm sure that your mommy & U will enjoy every minute of your walks.

Hi LingLing!

I'm so sorry about your brother emoticon I'm sure your mommy misses him terribly.

Mommy took me for a mile walk after dinner tonight! She said I was "overly excited," which means I don't get out enough. Between that guilt trip and the fun we had, I'm sure we'll go walking a lot now. Mom got me my own backyard a few months ago, but it's just not as exciting as getting out, seeing the sights, and reading peemail!

Hi Sophie & Lula! emoticon

Lula, you sure are pretty, mommy is partial to both white & Chocolate poodles. My brother, RIP, was a white, toy poodle. I never met him, but mom loved him & that's enough.
I think that your will stick to the mile a day, you just may need to remind her.
Sophie, mommy checked out your mom's page. She found some wonderful pics of your mom, congrats. But no pics of U. Ask your mom to post one if she can.

Mommy says she's on a diet, and that I have to go on one, too! I bet she won't be able to do it -- I'm really good at getting all the treats I want. I have my ways! I'd rather lose a few pounds by taking more walks. I noticed she just joined the team goal of walking a mile a day, and I sure hope she sticks with it!

Hi April,

Just a quick note before the elderly & disabled bus gets here & takes mommy & others @ Rolling Hills shopping & I get shut behind the bedroom door emoticon .
Sorry to hear that those big, bad thunder storms are operating your way now, they've not quit here by a long shot! Last night again was same ol' same ol' rain emoticon , thunder,
lightning emoticon & wind. But, this time mommy tied her tomato plants to a pole. HaHaHa! emoticon

Keep snuggling thru the storms, we will to,

Hi Ling Ling! It is five in the morning here and we woke up to LOUD thunder! It is going to rain again. Mommy says her beautiful pots of flowers are getting water logged and she hopes it doesn't give them root rot, whatever that is. Ya'll snuggle through the storms! That what Mommy and I do!

Hi Tara & April,

Your mommy was certainly right April, we have had big thunder & lightning, & very strong straight line winds. my mommy had her 2 tomato plants blown over several times (& she keeps the big planters full of water to weigh them down) They would have been badly broken & probably would have lost a lot of tomatoes except for the protective tomato cages around them.
The lightning Friday scared the bjesus out of me!!!
SHEESH! Will we ever dry out ? It has rained most every day now for 2 weeks or more !
Tara, glad you & Frost had a good time @ Alexandria. emoticon emoticon

Hi, April and Ling Ling!

Glad to hear you're OK, tho wet. When I politely reminded my human to get some new pix here, she said something about how we're supposed to get rain again tomorrow, so wait. Me, I'm not holding my breath! See, we were supposed to do a history schmistory trip yesterday, to the same Blenheim farm place we went the day before in Fairfax, but it turned out we were the only ones there beside the ranger lady cuz everyone was at a big program on the other side of the county, so we took a walk in the nice grass and stopped to share a nice McDonald's cone on the way home. But yesterday, my human got caught up with boring computer stuff and organizing papers--well, we didn't go to Fairfax.

We just went to Alexandria. Yup, the dog park in the morning. The last coupla weeks, there were lotsa birders, but not the regular lotsa dogs. Me and Frost worried a little about the birder guys taking pictures by the creek, cuz we thought the big cameras were watching us make poopie. But my human talked to them, and they said they wanted pictures of the warblers taking baths. Whatever. Maybe the warblers kept flying away, cuz the big dogs including Simone who always keeps her eye on Frost were back yesterday. My human worried that one big golden might've done the momma dog cleanup thing with my poopie, but her human and my human decided I just arranged so many leaves on top that they couldn't find it.

Later, after me and Frost napped through my human's computer stuff, then politely reminded her we needed some exercise in the sunshine, we drove to another part of Alexandria and walked around the lake where the trees have fences around them cuz the beavers munched lotsa trees down around the time I met my human and later winters. Til the humans got their fence thing right, maybe, tho those fences interfered big time with Frost's marking yesterday. Anyhow, we met a nice albino Pekinese named Pippa--she has a pink nose and strange colored eyes but fur kinda like mine--and real manners so even Frost stayed on good behavior. Later, we met a nice young tzu named Django. He even let us have some of his water, cuz it was hot. Plus, Frost was a little thirsty from being a pull-puppy and doing a little barking so the kiddies who thought I was nice were a little scared of him. Well, Frost got jealous when our human petted Django, tho I wasn't worried, and like I said, Django was real sweet letting us have some of his water.

Well, gotta go now,

Wags,

Tara.

Hi April,
It has rained everyday here for @ least the past week! I am getting waterlogged, just looking out of the window! The grass & plants sure are growing though. I would not bark, but I think if I ever saw one of my mommy's tomato plants going for a walk, I think it would scare all of my silky fur off of me.

Good morning Poodles, Doodles, Kitties and Peeps!

It has rained and rained here! Mommy says her plants to do not like wet feet, whatever that means. I don't like wet feet either, but I haven't seen Mommy's plants walking around anywhere! Good thing though cause I would BARK BARK BARK!!!! That actually would probably scare the curl outta my hair! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Hi Tara and LingLing! Wag Wag Wag!!!

Yes we had some history schmistory stuff for memorial day too! Mommy was in the Army for 11 years. she was a Drill Sgt. whatever that is. We went out to a cemetery here and helped some older vets put flags on the veterans graves. It was early in the morning so it wasn't too hot. Mommy brought a cooler with some water and ice and a plastic bowl for me so I would be able to have water. Mommy says that we should honor those that sacrificed their lives and limbs so that we can be free to walk wherever we want (that allows pups). She says that even the fact that we can choose whatever food we want is a gift because there are countries that have to stand in line just for things like bread. Mommy says they don't have pets like us cause they are only able to feed themselves. I would be sad if I was a street dog. (shudder). Nope, I am the North Alabama Poodle Princess!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!

Anyway, Mommy was in the Army a long long time ago. She said she would have stayed in but she had little kids and they wanted to send her over seas again. She wouldn't leave her babies.

Welp, it's time to go watch Mommy watching TV!! Mommy was really tickled that she actually got an email when Ya'll replied to this! Yeah

Love,

April

Hi, LingLing! And good to hear from you, April, and that you and Reggie had a nice history schmistory trip too. Me and Frost had a nice memorial day, even a whole weekend. Lots of rolls in the soft grass, and walking too--almost walked our toenails off, ha ha ha. So I napped after we got home, and now my human woke up, and me and Frost did our business outside, but it really isn't that much cooler. Sure feels like summer, and we almost missed the spring!

On Sunday we visited the Vietnam Veterans memorial and met a nice poodleboy named Mocha, which is sorta the color of his fur (like Rico's, but that I haven't seen that poodleboy since he moved out of our neighborhood, and soon our tzu pal Nina's gonna be leaving). Well, anyway, Mocha's fur was all wet, and it turned out that his human had dunked him in one of the ponds or fountains on the mall. He sure didn't seem to mind the wet fur, tho I would've. It was almost evening, and like I said hot, tho Mocha used to live in Hawaii, which his human said was warmer, and he now lives in Vermont, which is cooler. So another traveling pup, but like I said, a real gentlepup. And I don't mind really that he has the same name as our tzu pal Mocha, who we met again when we got home and did our neighborhood tour.

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised at how calm and respectful Frost was almost all the time. OK, after we left the World War II memorial Sunday evening, he saw a collie or australian shepherd or some other big dog at the corner, and just had to bark and lunge. But otherwise, he might've even listened to me, he was so respectful. Like doing his business outside Arlington cemetery, and then walking with me and our human without even pulling! Most people who passed us smiled, and a few wanted to say hi, which was OK once our human reminded them of doggie manners--like don't grab my head before saying hello polite-like. My human took lots of pictures, like on Saturday of the memorial and magnolia tree remembering soldiers killed in humanitarian missions, and later of the law enforcement officers. Lots of wreaths there, and little flags at Arlington cemetery again, and different stuff at the Vietnam veterans memorial Sunday, including a big teddy bear. A man and boy from Rome in Italy and Florida took our pictures at the WWII memorial, but we didn't get our pictures taken at the WWI cuz we were hot and decided to take a drink at the water fountain since our human said we shouldn't drink from the big puddle with the ducks swimming and pooping nearby. And I've just gotta mention the nice vets in these scooter things who told my human how to get to the Korean War memorial, and that the Canadian lady soldiers by the Afghanistan memorial on Saturday were really nice. But we couldn't walk around the Air Force memorial like we did at the Navy Memorial and LOTS OTHER PLACES, cuz "no dogs allowed, cept service dogs" the guy said. My human said we were sorta service dogs, but no paperwork. Real party pooper, I thought, but kept quiet, polite-like.

Today, we went down into Bowling Green, Virginia and watched a ceremony. I thought the cobblestones were cool in the shade, and Frost rolled in the grass just a teeny bit. The lady lawyer soldier talked, and we had lots of admirers, and later my human drove to McDonalds and we had a few licks of ice cream. Then my human went on what she later said was a wild goose chase trying to track down an old grave. We didn't mind, really, cuz we got to explore a bit. Frost really loves these history schmistory trips now. We came back through Fredericksburg and stretched our paws by the James Monroe house and some locked masonic cemetery, and Frost didn't want to come back into the car. But we had to do more of the traffic thing to get home for dinner. Oh, and my human dropped her phone by the Stonewall Jackson shrine, which is the house where he died after lotsa big battles--but not on the grass, which Frost and I agreed was the day's bestest, but in the parking lot, and really cracked the screen, which she wasn't happy about, but it still works, sortof.

Well, that's my memorial day wrapup, not that I'm trying to out history schmistory anybody, but there's lotsa history here, and I'm sure by you too April, and lots of my other pup pals. Hint, hint, Maggie???

Wags,

Tara.

Hi Tara & April,

Good to hear from you April! It has recently gotten hot here in N. Ms., today it was 91 w/ 80 % humidity, or so mommy says, I don't know what all that means. I just know that it was too hot. But it felt good on mom's bed, under the ceiling fan. Mommy likes to play in the dirt to. Aren't mommies silly. I don't like to get dirt under my claws! I love to chew on the greenery, but dirt emoticon ?
That Third Friday Festival sounds so nice. Mommy would have loved to have been there with you & your mom @ the Old State park, But not me I'm afraid of bullets! I hope that you & Reggie had a good time.
Oh! I did not realize that Frost was the same as Bichonboy. Which one is his real name?
Thanks for explaining about Parson Weems. Mommy has told me about what she calls the fable of George Washington. It sounds like both of you had grand History Smishtory trips.
April, please tell your mommy that my mommy will not be moving, I told her that I did not want to move again. And she's tired of moving to!

Hi Poodles, Doodles, Kitties & Peeps!

Yep It's me, April!!! BARK BARK BARK!!! It has finally gotten hot here in Alabama. Mommy has been playing in the dirt! Well, she calls it planting flowers in pots, but it sure looks like playing in the dirt to me! It was 90 degrees today with 95% humidity! BUT, being a Poodle, I knew better than to get out in that stuff! I went to hair do day and got all pretty, and then I have been lying on the rug in the dining room watching Mommy and another neighbor lady playing in the dirt out on the patio! They like that dirty stuff. Not me! No siree! I keep myself pristine!!! Primp primp

Speaking of History smishtory trips, Mommy and Aunt Beverly (neighbor lady) took me and my doggie friend Reggie to a festival downtown. It's called 3rd Friday and there was food and music and a farmer's market. there were crafters and an antique car show. We sniffed everywhere but no one dropped one single bite of food! Then we walked all through the downtown area and ended up at a place called the Old State Bank. It was built a long long time ago. It was turned into a hospital during the civil war, whatever that is. There are bullet holes remaining in the huge columns out in front. Mommy says since we are a river city, the northerners wanted to claim the railroad bridge in order to bring in supplies and stuff. Mommy was telling Aunt Beverly all about it.

There were lots of other pups out walking with their peeps too, but luckily there were no rude butt sniffers! Mommy got an ice cream for me and Reggie to share because we were so good! Yeah!!

Love,
April

Hi, LingLing! Nope, we didn't get lost. I might've been confusing, tho, cuz Frost is bichonboy, and he can be a real barkpuppy! Anyhow, I thought I talked once about Parson Weems, cuz by his other house or school or museum or something was my pal Chloe bichon's last public appearance, at the doggie fair. That was a little white house down by a creek. The house last weekend was a big brick one on top of a hill. My human says Parson Weems wrote about George Washington, but sometimes he fibbed a little. Like about young George cutting down a cherry tree without permission and telling his dad he couldn't tell a lie. My human says she finished cutting down a cherry tree last Sunday, but we couldn't watch cuz we could get hurt.

Golly, I didn't know you were a boycat. Anyhow, I don't think Daisy was playing hard to get with Frost. I think she liked running up the big hill, and maybe had a big dog pal on the other side too.

Wags,

Tara.

Hi Tara!!,

So glad to hear from you, I was beginning to think you got lost.
Glad you, Frost & Bichonboy had such a good time on your last history schmistory trip.
Who was Parson Weems? What was he famous for? Yea, mom says that politicians can get pretty long winded at times, whatever that means.
Daisy sounds like she's changed for the better. Maybe her mom did get her some training.
Maybe, Daisy was pretending to ignore Frost's barks just because she's a girl. I don't understand why you girls play "hard to get". I don't understand girls, PERIOD!

Bewildered by girls,

Hi, LingLing! No, I haven't forgotten you, specially on last week's history schmistory trip. A yellow tabby visited dad by our car as me and bichonboy waited while our human listened to this politician guy talk and talk. Seems he now owns the old house of Parson Weems who was famous to some humans. Me and Frost thought the grass real nice, and we took a few nice rolls each. Plus ate a little by where the politician later said the grave was. Me, I say what does he know? I tried giving the up signal to go home a coupla times before the guy was finished, but nada. Frost, well he barked a little with the guy's dog, who I could tell from his poopie and bark was lots bigger than us, so I was kinda glad he was locked behind a door that stayed shut.

Oh, and we saw Daisy the German shepherd twice and she didn't try to bite Frost at all. In fact, me and Frost and Daisy even had a nice butt sniff about a week ago, though a coupla days ago Frost was real mad cuz Daisy ignored his barks and stayed on the other side of the creek. Some dogs learn faster than bichonboy, IMHO, though I appreciate it when he warns rude buttsniffers off.

Wags,

Tara.

Checking in to say hi, but where is everybody? It's gotten a little chilly again, maybe you're all snuggled up with your mommy's.
Stay warm & safe

Hi Sophie & Tara,

Sophie, sorry to hear about your cyst, it sounds like a real owie! Your human sister is probably right about your incision. Mommy's always think that owie's are worse than they are. That's funny about your chip. You will never get lost now for sure.

Tara,
Glad to hear that you & Bechonboy stayed safe during our last bad weather breakout. That man next door sounds like a real Duphis.

Meow,
LingLing

Hi pups and friends,

Sophie here. I had a nasty cyst removed yesterday,so I'm taking it easy today. It was nasty because I scratched it and it oozed constantly and I had a matted knot on my neck.

My human sister says my incision is small; she's a vet tech so I guess she knows. Mom thinks it looks big.

They couldn't find my chip, so they gave me another one. And then they found the old one. So I'm a double-chipped poodle now.

I'm going to miss my walks for a few days since I can't wear a collar. Maybe mom would buy me a harness?

But for now, the couch beckons. Yup, mom lost that battle a long time ago.

Hi, all. Yup, I'm safe and stayed dry through last week's storms, though bichonboy had to go outside the first morning and got really wet, but he's still learning. No flooding here, but we saw the news about the bad weather down south and I was glad to hear April and LingLing are OK.

The weekend here was beautiful, and yesterday we stayed outside with our human as she worked in the yard. She also talked to lots of people, most of them after she talked to a real estate lady who came next door about the flooding there. That lady said it didn't flood last week but my human said it did and told the other people that the renovation that they're flipping (though I didn't think houses could flip) dug deeper and didn't plan for drainage, and how the new guy who didn't live there blamed her even for the flooding in the earlier storm, saying it was our gutter's fault tho it goes the other way and his workmen didn't put on an endcap tho she asked them and him lots of times on the phone, and even though the place flooded before his digging (and his approved plans said no excavations, and no cement on our property though someone did that last Wednesday).

Phew. You can understand why I just found a nice spot to curl up in in the sunshine, then spread out and when I felt too hot, grabbed a few laps of water and curled up in the shade. Bichonboy at first barked at every dog that he could see or hear, but then he learned to appreciate the soft plants, and the shade. Like I said, he doesn't always learn quick like a poodle, but he does learn, and was friendly with a couple of cocker spaniels that stopped by with one lady.

Well, that realtor lady came back outside twice and talked to us, and also came out lots of times and stood on that stoop as my human talked to people by our fence. The first time she told us the owner said he already fixed the problem and we should talk to him, but my human said on Wednesday when she first met him in person he said all contacts had to be made through his lawyer, whose name (but not phone number) he gave and my human had to look it up and he's not licenced here in Virginia and also something like a grandstanding jerk, whatever that might be. I'm not sure whether she told her about the guy promising to sue my human for slander after my human said he never sent the letter he promised weeks ago, but we heard it (and bichonboy wanted to fight but my human kept him in the car). Then the real estate lady kept saying the owner was a really good client of another realtor in the group and did lots of quality work at lots of houses in Maryland and D.C, but my human said he made lots of problems here that he didn't want to admit, but that any new people might blame my human for because the Maryland and Florida guys (I think she wanted to say "liars liars pants on fire") would have vanished (like not given real addresses). The second time the lady came out, she said the sump pump would be installed next week, and my human said he also needed to fix the other problems he caused on our property with the electrical line and now cement in our garden, and the lady left, again without giving her the card or real estate group's address like our human asked. Double phew!

Well, I don't know if we'll be doing that long day thing again, though my human was also cutting some tree branches and there looked like more. Me and Frosty were glad to leave, and especially glad for the licks of McDonalds ice cream in our bowls.

Wags,

Tara.

Hi Pups,

So glad to see you April. Our weather has been terribly wet, mom would not even go out for 3 or 4 days, the rain was coming in sheets & there was a very real threat of tornados here to. Stay dry & snuggled up to your mommy. I hope that the bad weather is over & that Maggie & Tara are safe & dry.

Kitty Kisses,
LingLing

Hi Pups & Peeps!

Well, we had tornadoes last night! I wasn't scared though. Mommy and I were snuggled up. Mommy had to move all of her beautiful flowers in to the dining room so that the bad weather wouldn't tear all of the pretty flowers off! There is going to be more bad weather this evening.

I hope everyone has a great day!!!
