Most of us are here because we have a problem with our health. Our health problems are a result of our life style. We got this way from eating too much, and too much of the wrong things, and not being active. We all know who the enemy is.

Well, the good news is that we can fix it. The bad news is that it is not so easy. Only 5% succeed on finding a permanent path to being "healthy". However, here at SP the percentage is much higher - because SP is a better program than most others, it is not only a diet plan, it is a life plan.
Your plan will work if you are honest with yourself. To be honest, you should post everything that you eat. EVERYTHING! Do not worry about a bad dinner or a bad day - they come and go. But you owe it to yourself to at least log in the bad with the good. How would it be if your favorite baseball team quit after four innings because they were down 8 runs.... or the leader of a golf tourney just walked off the course after a bad hole? If you are going to play - play by the rules, and play the entire game! Right?
May your bad days be kind to you and your good days bring you the joy you deserve... and may you have far more good days then bad!

That's a good point, Kate. Thanks! It's true, if I wasn't paying attention, I probably would be 20 pounds heavier by now. I AM making progress, even though it's not as fast as I'd like.

I tend to be very hard on myself and tend to beat myself up when I don't live up to my own expectations. I'm trying to change that, and start re-evaluating whether or not my expectations are realistic. I think it'll be a struggle for the rest of my life, just like my weight will probably be.

Do what you can and do not worry whether it is "enough."

There are many days that I don't feel like tracking due to bad eating (mainly on the weekends), but I am getting better and better at it. I figure that the only one I am hurting by not tracking is myself. If I can figure out why the high calories occurred I will have a better chance of avoiding it again.

Of course, for special occasions like birthdays it is harder to avoid and turn down those great things that come across your plate!

"Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees"

Quoted from Mary Engelbreit who I believe got it from the bible

don't ever give up johannalynn, imagine if you weren't trying, maybe the weight would be going up!! If you're struggling, just slow down for a bit and have a think about how you feel. Are you tired? are you being too hard on yourself? what would really make you happy? try being really kind to yourself and stopping all the internal struggling and maybe you'll feel better to keep making healthy choices. Good luck!

I have too many days where I'm afraid to finish tracking my food because I know I'm going over. I have to somehow shut off that voice in my head that says I "deserve" it because I had a rough day or it's my birthday or I worked out really hard. Or taking a bad turn and then thinking "Today's a wash, so I guess I'll just keep eating." I've been losing and gaining back the same four pounds for a month now...

Katkando - That's hilarious! A "high-calorie yesterday" sparkteam! I think every single last one of us would be members at some point, even Coach Jen and Sparkguy emoticon

Back on the wagon - I still have to go to the gym and live up to our Weekend Survival challenge. Thanks to everyone for your support, I knew you'd understand.

Don't feel going over once. You actually added it all in, that takes commitment. I usually ignore the tracking when I know I'm being "really" bad (like 6000 cal chocolate bar *sigh*)

You're never a victim. There are no accidents in life. What is yours comes to you, what is not yours will never stay with you. You have exactly the circumstances you need to transform to your next best level.

Well, as you can see from my original post, I intended to and have succeeded on getting back to the program this morning. I'm right back on track and am trying to never beat myself up for one high calorie day.

Hi,

Okay, you enjoyed your anniversary. Now, what are you going to do? I think when you decide to get back to the program says more than how your enjoyed your anniversary.

Happy Ann. to you,
andrea

Every day find a little time for yourself, even if it is only 15 minutes, as long as that time is just for you. Better yet is if that time is fun.

Holy Cow! Yesterday was my 20 year anniversary with my sweetheart, so I made polenta, steak, creamed spinach and we drank a ton of champagne. emoticon When I added it all up I knew it would be a big number - WOW! But I don't regret it, I'll just go back to making good choices today. Be strong this weekend everyone!
