Hello all emoticon

This is my first time visiting this team.

I live in the Houston, Texas area, divorced, mother of two, they are now 19 and 24. I stay busy with work and trying to get to the track or exercise. I am very unmotivated when it comes to exercise so I need all the encouragement that I can get.

I am also co-leader of Pathway to Success.

Be blessed ....

Blessings to all .. Lisa

I haven't been around because I've had problems with my internet. While I was away my son went over and for 4 days we were slowed down to dial-up speed , boy was it ever so slooow. I only checked my email and posted very little.
Everything's back to normal now and we will have to watch our usage.

While we were away every morning we did 30 min of SparkPeople exercises that I printed off and then did lots of walking, anything between 45min and 2hrs each day.

Since coming home on Friday I've been to gym Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & today even twice, once in the morning for my regular 60 min workout, cardio & weights and this evening a Sculpt Ball class.

I want to drop about 2kg/4lbs this month, so I really have to work hard at it, especially since we are going out for my birthday dinner next week and going away for the weekend to Opera in the Alps. My hubby's present to me.
I am trying to stay in my calorie range and my water is not a problem, the weather is really heating up, tomorrow and friday we expect 40-41C/105F

Hope all of you are keeping warm.

TGIF! Sorry I've been scarce! Russ' brother is here visiting and we spent almost all day yesterday out and about showing him around and such. Russ had to work today, so we're just hanging out here at the house. I've got some more schoolwork to get done today. Got in a 3 mile run this morning. Hope everyone is doing well! Have a great weekend!

Good morning yall! Sorry I've been scarce. I've had a bad migraine and have also been trying to get schoolwork done for the week-long class which starts a week from today. I'm headed out to do a 6 mile run in just a few minutes. Other than that, just more schoolwork and then we're having a game night with some friends from church to celebrate the New Year! Have a great one everyone!

Alrighty, here is what I was talking about on Thursday. I started a local knitting club here in Abilene a few months ago. We were surprised on Thursday afternoon when a reporter/photographer from the Abilene newspaper showed up to take pictures and do a story on the knitting club. Here is a link to the newspaper article online: reporternews.com/news/2007/dec/28/ti

Here is a link to a slide show of some of the pictures that were included in the actual print newspaper that weren't online: www.slide.com/r/U4YtNAM07D-NQOoPLf3q

Haven't gotten much else done today including exercise because hubby's computer went psycho and I spent the entire day reformatting it and then reinstalling all his stuff on it. UGH! I feel like crap and just want to go crawl into bed.

Sorry to just now be checking in. It's been an insane day. Got up and ran 3 miles. Then hurried to get dressed so we could go run errands. Went to the post office and the bank. Grabbed some lunch. Then went to Walmart and did some shopping with our Christmas money (got a new digital camera and a new wireless router) and also got groceries as there was no food in the house after being out of town. Rushed home and unloaded everything and then Damaris and I went to knitting club. Imagine my surprise when a reporter from the city newspaper showed up to do a story on the knitting club that I started. Of course, this was the day that I had almost no makeup on and had a hat on. She wanted pictures and everything, but we managed to convince her to photograph our hands while we were knitting. She said the story should be in the paper on Saturday. Hopefully this will get some more people to join us to knit. Got back home and set up the new router and now I'm about to figure out how to work the new digital camera. Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Whew, I'm pooped! We got home a bit before midnight last night. Not exactly what we had planned since Russ had to be at work at 8 this morning, but we made do. Damaris & I slept in this morning. Then we unpacked from the trip. Got in a 4 mile run this morning too. Afternoon plans are to work at schoolwork. Only about 1.5 weeks until this week-long intensive class begins. I have knitting club tonight which will be a nice break in getting the schoolwork done. Have a great day everyone!

Twas the Night Before the First Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and in Bethlehem town,
All the Inns were so crowded, Mary couldn't lie down.
The baby was coming, all willing and able,
The only safe place to be born was a stable.

The shepherds were sleeping on a hillside nearby,
While Mary was singing her first lullaby.
The lambs in their sheepfold, all wooly and white,
Had just settled down on this clear starry night.

When an angel appeared right there where they lay,
While they rose in fright, he said, "Be not afraid."
The Lord's glory shone as the angel did say,
"Good News, I bring to you all on this day,
A Savior in Bethlehem was born for you,
Now He lies in a manger, ragged cloths are the clue."

When what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But a sky full of angels singing loudly and clear.
God's glory they sang for all they were worth
And peace among all whom He favors on earth.

More rapid than eagles they all disappeared.
A shepherd then shouted to all who would hear,
"Now, Levi! Now, Reuben! Now, Isaac and Jacob!
On, Eli! On Matthew! On Simon and Caleb!
To the stable in town, to the manger of hay,
Let's go quickly and see where Christ Jesus does lay."

The shepherds could hardly believe what they saw,
Jesus lay in the manger asleep in the straw.
So, down to their knees all the shepherds then sank,
With their hearts full of wonder, their God they did thank.

And then in a twinkling to Joseph and Mary,
The words of the angels, the shepherds did carry.
As they drew in their breath, their heads spinning around,
From the stable the shepherds left without a sound.
Mary pondered these words in the depth of her heart.
She ne'er would forget how the shepherds took part.

A bundle of joy, Mary thought of her child,
And He looked like a pure lamb, so gentle and mild.
His eyes full of wisdom, even though just a baby.
"My Jesus, a Savior? she wondered, "Well, maybe."
His soft, little face seemed to glow with a smile,
So their troublesome journey now, too, seemed worthwhile.

Soon after came wise men from places afar.
Many days had they traveled to follow a star.
They looked for a King who would rule over all,
After speaking with Herod, the worst choice of all.

Herod plotted and planned - a right nasty old king -
Who tried to kill Jesus and end this whole thing.
The magi came in and they kneeled at Christ's bed
And gave Him three gifts and then thinking ahead,
They took a new road on their long journey home.
And Jesus and family to Egypt did roam.

And later He laid down His life for our souls,
Forgiving our sins, Jesus Christ made us whole.
He rose from the dead, to His friends gave a mission.
And we are now given new life with a vision.

So let us exclaim on this most holy night ...
Merry Christmas to all,
Jesus Christ is the light!

Merry Christmas Eve! Got up and ran 4 miles in my parent's neighborhood this morning. Was feeling great until about 30 minutes after I got home and a bad migraine hit me. Ugh - not how I wanted to spend the day. I'm hoping to go lay down for a nap and see if I can sleep it off as our family's tradition is to open gifts on Christmas Eve. Have a blessed evening yall!

Good morning yall! We were able to leave earlier than planned yesterday afternoon, so we got to New Mexico around 7:30 rather than the 10ish we were thinking. And that was even after stopping for an hour to see our friends on the way. We're all up getting ready this morning to go to church. Then we're going out to lunch. Then not sure what else, but we'll go to church again tonight - they are having a sharing time and they asked me to sing and Russ & Damaris to read a poem each. That should be fun. Other than that, just hanging out and trying to teach my mom some computer stuff. Have a blessed day! Only 2 days until Christmas!

Hope you have a great Christmas with your whole family.
We are invited to a friend's house on Christmas Eve, just her children and grandchildren, her cousin and us.
Everyone is bringing something so she doesn't have so much to do. I will be going in the afternoon to help Margaret make salads and we are bringing some sparkling wine.

Yesterday I went to gym in the afternoon, was closed until lunch, and did 50 min on treadmill emoticon
Today went to farmer's market for fresh meat & vegs and in the evening walked for about 80 min.

Whew, busy day ahead of me. I'm about to go run my 3 miles. Then we're headed out to finally pick up our pictures to go in our Christmas letters (they were supposed to be ready weeks ago and they just called yesterday to tell us that they are finally ready), deliver AVON, go to the post office to mail the Christmas letters, and then to knitting club. I'm still on track with schoolwork - got another 75 pages to read today, but when I finish that, I'll have finished reading 2 of the 5 books. That's about it here. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Only 5 days until Christmas!

Good morning yall! Russ is off work today so it's been a pretty low key morning here. Damaris is doing her schoolwork right now. I'm about to go run my 3 miles. Russ is going to take Damaris shopping for my Christmas presents this morning. Then after lunch, I'm going to get my hair trimmed (I'm growing it out and it's looking pretty shaggy right now) and get my nails done. Then I'll take Damaris to get Russ' Christmas present from her and also pick up a few things we need from Walmart. Other than that, just more reading and knitting. Only 7 days until Christmas! Have a wonderful day yall!

Good morning all! Where's everyone else C.C.?

It's just gone 11am, I've hung up 2 loads of washing on the line already and am getting ready to go to gym to do cardio today. I am planning to go tonight to a pilates class with Marek but just in case I don't I will at least have done 30-40 min of cardio.

I weighed myself this morning and looked as if I dropped 1lb but will wait till Sunday for the official weigh-in and see if it lasts, lol.

Happy Monday everyone! Only 8 days until Christmas. Russ worked this morning, but is on his way home now. He's off until Wednesday morning. I got in a 4 mile run this morning. I decided to stick to the 20 miles a week program at least through the new year. Just doing stuff around the house today. Been washing laundry and have just one load left of that. I have about 100 pages of reading to do today. Other than that, just planning on doing some knitting. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

This morning I booked a 14 days tour around the Kimberleys which is a huge area at the north of Western Australia. A big part of the roads are unsealed and you need a four wheel drive to get about. You also can easily get lost there and you can travel for hours without seeing another vehicle.
This is my birthday present from my DH but because it's much too hot in January and tours don't start until beginning of May so we are going on the 4th May. Really looking forward to it.

In the afternoon I went to gym and did a good ball + weights workout. I also bought myself a stability ball and am sitting on it now while on the computer. I decided to ditch my chair for the ball permanently! I saw my GP sitting on one in her surgery.

This evening I saw a preview of a new movie from Afganistan. My hubby won the 2 tickets! It's a good movie "Kite Runner" that's coming to the cinema in the middle of January.

Hi yall! We got up and drove about 100 miles away for Russ to preach this morning. The church had a potluck lunch so we stayed for that. Now we're back home. I was able to do all my scheduled reading for today (for my January class) in the car while we drove, so that's done for today. I finished the 1st book today, now only 4 more to go. I also got a little bit of knitting done in the car. We have a dinner at church tonight at 6, so we plan to attend that. The Cowboys game just started, so I'm going to watch that. Hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday!

Now that Sunday is almost over I can sit here & relax.
I invited a dozen friends over this afternoon to celebrate becoming a granny for the second time, so yesterday spent shopping and baking and this morning it was cleaning and making fruit platters & dips with cut up vegs.
Everything went very well.

Now that the fall semester is over, I'm jumping right back into school stuff with all the assignments for my week-long January class. I set up a schedule and if I stick to it, I'll get all the reading and writing done without any problems. I hope to get some knitting in as well. Got in my 3 miles of running this morning. Tomorrow is the last day of my 6/20 training - don't know if I'm going to just keep up with the 20 miles a week or change things up a bit. Oh, I updated our family website at www.thealmons.com if anyone wants to check it out. It is password protected, but there's info on there to request a password. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Just reading about your day makes my head spin!
WOW, you do fit an awful lot into it emoticon

I am now a lady of leasure, children grown up, the girls married and my big boy will be 29 next month. Still living at home, working and is out often with friends.

This morning I had a good cardio workout of 75 min and then went to lunch with my SIL and ate a healthy salad plus had 2 skim milk cappucchinos.

Just got home from taking my last final. I think I did ok on it - it was a class that not many of us were happy with, but that's a whole other story. Found out I got a 92 on my other final, so I'm really happy about that. I'm taking a day or two off before diving full-force into my work for the week-long class I'm taking in January. I have 5 books to read and 30 pages of papers to write in the next 3 weeks. Then I'll attend the class from 8:30am to 4:30pm for 5 days and then have another 20 page paper due a few weeks later. It's worth 3 credit hours though, so it's so worth it. Got in a mile walk this morning going to and from seminary. Damaris is working on her schoolwork right now and Russ (he's off work today) is finishing a take-home final he has due by 5pm today. I'm planning on trying to finish updating our family website today (it was so out of date!) and then this afternoon, I need to deliver AVON orders, go to knitting club, go get groceries, and then go to running club. A busy afternoon, but a fun one! Have a wonderful day everyone!

By the time you read this you will be over your final exam & I hope it went very well!

This morning Angela arrived at 6:30 am to make an early start because it was going to get to 30C/90F.
By the time I got up and came downstairs she finished in the front and we got stuck into the back garden.
Everything looks nice and neat now in the garden.
I am having an afternoon tea on Sunday for some of my friends to celebrate Amaia's birth 5 weeks ago. Any excuse will do for a get-together.

In the afternoon I went to gym and did a 40-Minute Advanced Ball + Weights Workout from SP. emoticon emoticon

Good morning yall! The weather here is cold and yucky - rain and drizzle and such. I just finished running 4 miles. We were supposed to have Mom's Bible Study today, but several of the ladies had to back out for today and it was only going to be me and one other lady, so we decided not to meet. Just going to hang out around the house today. Then the knitting group I started is going to meet tonight (we decided to start a night group in addition to the afternoon group) for about an hour. Then I'll meet with a friend who is in class with me tomorrow so we can study for a little while for our final exam that is tomorrow morning. That's about it. Hope yall have a wonderful day!

I went to gym in the morning and then to see our accountant to get the tax return done emoticon .
It was due end of October but he would have asked for an extension. Now will see how much tax we have to pay, not looking forward to that.

Tomorrow Angela my gardening lady is coming & we gonna get stuck into pruning roses & cleaning up overgrown plants. It's expected to be 29C/88F so it will be pretty warm outside.

Final exam #1 is over with. Just one more on Thursday morning. I ran 3 miles this morning. Have spent the rest of the day studying for the exam. Now I'm going to relax with knitting and watch some tv with hubby. The party last night was lots of fun. Russ ended up with a 3 CD set titled "Learn to Speak English" LOL!!! I ended up with a sack full of goodies including 2 stuffed animals, 5 slinkies, 2 eggs of silly putty, and another toy (not sure what it's called, I would call it a stress reliever). I gave the stuffed animals and slinkies to the kids and kept the other stuff for myself! Hope everyone is having a great day!

Whew, it's been a busy day. Got in a 4 mile run this morning. Been doing laundry and cleaning house ever since. Our small group will be here in about an hour and a half for our Christmas party and white elephant gift exchange. I have my first final tomorrow afternoon, so I've been cramming in studying in my spare minutes. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

I'd say, leave the battery till Saturday and then you will get a nice surprise!

It was another sunny day today, the morning I spent on the computer so in the afternoon I went to gym for 65 min & had a good workout emoticon

Hello everyone! I have been kinda off track for the last few days and a little depressed. But today I am trying to get it back together and I am planning my meals and snacks for the week so I don't have to think about it.

My battery in my scale died so I am debating whether or not to get a new battery today and face the reality of what damage I may have done this past week, or if I should wait a few days when I have been on track for a while. What do you all think?

Happy Sunday yall! It is really cold here and we've had rain and ice pellets coming down all morning. We're under a winter storm watch as well. We went to church this morning (wonderful service!) and then went to the grocery store to get a few things. Now we're home and inside for the rest of the day. I'm going to do a bit of studying for my final on Tuesday afternoon in a few minutes. Other than that, knitting, watching tv (come on Cowboys - you can do it!!!), and staying warm are all that's on my agenda. Have a wonderful day yall!

The weather sure has gotten cold here today. They are predicting rain and snow for us over the next few days. I got in a 6 mile run this morning - a new personal distance record for me. We got free tickets to a theater production of Peter and the Wolf, so I took Damaris to that this afternoon. Russ is at work, but he'll be home in about 30 minutes. I'm planning on staying inside bundled up and knitting tonight. There is a movie on tv tonight that we want to watch, so we'll do that as well. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Saturday is almost over, just got home after seeing a movie with my DH and his sister "Bee Movie" with Jerry Seinfeld. It was cute.
This morning I got stuck into weeding, did 60 min and had a free sauna, to boot. There are so many weeds still left emoticon but 1 hour is about all I can manage at one go, all that bending.
Going to gym in the morning.

Happy Friday yall! Thanks so much for the prayers and support through my horrific migraine! I'm feeling much better today - not yet 100% as a remnant of the migraine hangs on, but much better than yesterday. I got in a 4 mile run this morning - I was scheduled for 6 miles, but I thought I'd do a shorter one today and then try the 6 mile tomorrow. Damaris has her Christmas party at Friendship House this afternoon, so I'll be taking her to that. Other than that, I'm just continuing to rest and relax. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I sorry to hear that you've been suffering so long and hope my prayers will help in your recovery.
I am glad that Russ took you to hospital, 4 days of suffering is way too long.
Is it possible to postpone the exams?

My 4 day long migraine got so bad that Russ ended up taking me to the emergency room tonight. I don't have insurance, but we'll deal with that later. After waiting 2.5 hours in the waiting room, I finally got taken back. Since I have a history of migraines, they didn't make me have a full workup. They gave me an IV with 3 medications (can't think of what they are right this second) and that finally took the edge off. They sent me home to eat and sleep. They said if I'm not better within 24 hours, to come back. Please pray that this medication will do it's job and get rid of this migraine. I have 2 final exams next week and I need to be back on track for that. I'm headed to bed. Thanks for your prayers!

This migraine is just not ending. Day 4 of it now. I'm in class this morning as it's the last class before the final. I just want my head to stop hurting though. I have knitting club for an hour this afternoon, but other than that, I'm hoping to rest and sleep. Please pray for this migraine to go away. I'm just so tired.

I'm onto day 3 of the migraine. UGH! I haven't had one this bad in awhile. Life goes on though. I got in a 5 mile run this morning. I also spent some time this afternoon working through an exercise to help me deal with the anger issue. I felt some relief when I finished. I'm tired now though. I'm just going to sit here and watch a movie with Russ and maybe do some knitting. Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

My paper is done! WAHOO!! Now if this silly migraine would just go away. I'm sitting up at the seminary waiting for class to start, so I'm playing online for a bit until then. We had a graduate student luncheon to attend today so that was nice. I got in a 1 mile walk earlier as well. Treated myself to getting my nails done and now they are a pretty shade of royal blue. LOL! I'm looking forward to relaxing and knitting tonight since I'm done with school for the semester other than my 2 final exams - one next Tuesday afternoon and one next Thursday morning. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I have a horrific migraine and a huge paper due tomorrow, so I've been trying to fight through the pain to get my paper done. Did get a 4 mile run in this morning which helped a bit. Hope yall have had a good day. After I turn in this paper tomorrow, all I'll have left for the fall semester is 2 final exams. But then comes the one week intensive class in January and I have about 5 books to read and probably the same amount of papers to write for it, so I won't get much of a break. Oh well, I'll make it through. Good night yall!

Well, I haven't lost much weight latily but am getting a rash of comments on my weight loss all of a sudden! I always think its strange when you can be losing consistantly and no one seems to notice, then be stuck for a while and hear it from multiple people! So I took my measurements and sure enough, I lost an inch around my waist! I don't care what the scale says, as long as I am losing inches. I say that but I gess I am kinda a hypocrite because today I also changed my weight goals previously I had 123 as my goal because that was a my favorite weight I have been after having children. Well today I started thinking my highest weight was 122 so why not make my goal 1 lb lower so that I can say I lost 100 lbs. I know it sounds silly, and I will probably be fine somewhere in the 130's and re-evaluate then, but for now I guess its just a fun idea.

It's going to be a busy day. I don't feel like I slept well at all. Had to get up when that alarm went off though rather than throwing the alarm at the wall like I wanted too. I'm in class right now. Have class all morning. Chapel and lunch at noontime. Need to go write a thank you note for one of the scholarships I received. Then I need to get a tire fixed on our SUV as we have a slow leak in one of the tires. Then I need to deliver AVON orders. Run Damaris to Friendship House. Go to knitting club. Pick up Damaris. Then finally home to work on my paper and do strength training. I'm hoping I can make it through the day today as I'm feeling really exhausted. I'm sure alot of it is because of the issue I'm trying to deal with. Hope everyone has a good day!

This morning I decided to get stuck into my back garden. Being away for a month and not one of my men thought of doing anything, the weeds just took over!!!
So I spent 100 emoticon minutes bent over pulling those pesky weeds. Do you think I've finished? No way, I have a few more hours of it still left emoticon
While I am off line it will be perfect time to catch up. I checked up on www.calorie-count.com for the # of calories burned while weeding and a 70kg/154lb of body weight they show 60 min=315 calories. SP only shows 210 calories. I will need to mention the discrepancy to tech support.

We are having dinner at my daughter's tonight, so I might do some exercises before going out.

I won't be joining you on December Challenge because I won't have daily access to a computer for about 10-14 days.

emoticon for now.

Sorry to be so late checking in today. It's been a busy one. Got up and ran 3 miles. Had Mom's Bible Study here at my house today. Picked up Damaris and ended up spending an hour talking to my friend who runs Friendship House. Came home and folded laundry. Took Damaris back to Friendship House for Kid's Club and watched my friend's baby girl who is about 7 months old and just figured out how to blow bubbles with her little lips. So cute! Damaris and I just got home. Russ is picking up my migraine prescription after work and then he'll be home. I need to work on my paper tonight and do strength training. Other than that, knitting and watching our tv shows. Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

My Wednesday is just about over.
I've had a busy day today. First thing this morning it was watering both front & back garden and it took about 70 min. The next 7 days are gonna be hot, today got to 29C/84F and Sunday might be 2-3 deg higher. We are only allowed to water gardens not lawns two mornings a week b/w 6-8am.
Then at 11am I went to gym and had a good workout for about 70 min.

C.C. I imagine you almost finished your second fingerless glove by now.
emoticon on fitting into a smaller size pants, it's a great feeling, isn't it!
Must have been dry for you to get a 5 mile run in the morning.

Happy Tuesday everyone! Woo-Hoo celebrating this morning as I was able to fit into a smaller size pants! YAY! Got in a 5 mile run this morning. Getting some stuff done on the computer now. I have class at 2:45. This is the next to last time for this class before my final exam. Not too much planned for tonight other than folding clean laundry, knitting, and getting another page done on my paper. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
