Morning Deckies!

Yep...long week, not getting enough done, but life is good. I am enjoying the lights and decorations. Snowflakes and stars...colored lights, traditions, 'Marvel Time'. A good week all in all.

Thanks for kind and encouraging support here my friends. Goodies and hugs...feeling very loved this morning. :) I tried a little walk this morning, slow and about 1 mile to try and warm of the 'region. Had to go slow and got a little nauseous with the spasms...but this is normal. I am less worried and getting my mind around upcoming PT.
My car is being worked on and might get it back sooner than expected!..my seat broke off frames...(hadn't even thought about that, bu should have), bumper, fenders, muffler and housing, spare tire winch and housing etc...air bags...but frame is OK. The shop is great and communicating quite well. Very good.

Kay and SD- Glad you are taking full advantage of our roller coaster! May I join you??? I think I am going for a few laps. Love this coaster! Remember your ear plugs. ;)
'Life' is good!

Jane- Extra sparking to stay away from temptations...yes! But I am the tempter. I am the one so often cooking! haha...But you are soooo right...balancing act, right?

Malia- And again...good for you about the smokes. Forgetting...a GREAT sign!

Mary and Choc- hows the less soda going??? Choc I do remember you were having some, but less right?

Kay- walking in...in between storms eh? Now I suspect you have some real snow. From the pics I have been seeing the mountains are looking much better. Kirkwood got about 15-20 more inches just the last couple days. When Hubby and I drove past last weekend, there was more snow there near 88 than in the mountains in the Tahoe Basin. winter is here.

Wood- Sorry I missed the coaster ride yesterday. Wanna hop on with us gals today??
I bet your wood shop is a busy place this week. You making good progress? I am re-opening the Tapas Bar in there to keep you company. We can hang out and keep you company while you work. Any Tapas requests? I'll start by heading out to the wine cellar and bring up several wines and chocolates. (For those who don't know...we do hide a stash of amazing dark chocolates in the wine cellar) Today I'll make some Potato and Mozzarella Croquettes, Garlicky Shrimp in Olive oil, Crab Empandas, Chorizo stuffed dates wrapped in Bacon. That out to start us off. :)

Anyhow, coffee and ice done, so, I need to get cracking! lol...

Singing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRFNg-Eyt_

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
When I hear this song...I think of my Deck family. ((Hugs)) all around.

Does this week feel long to anyone else? I swear yesterday felt like Friday and I back at work today? Sigh.... 2 more days.

Maui, my goodness! I'm so glad you both are minimally injured! Recovery can be frustrating, though, and you mentioned more PT. Know that we're here on the deck to support you.

Loved reading everyone else's posts! Lots going on. Choc, I had no idea there was a Russian tradition in January! I'll have to find some time to read up on that. I like to think I'm well-versed in the various cultural traditions, but there's always something I don't know. That's what life is about!

Speaking of "Life", I think I'll take a ride!

P.S. Thanks for the comment on my tobacco tracker! I actually forgot it was there, so I suppose I really *am* doing well! emoticon emoticon

Happy Thursday OP!

I'll be walking in today, up early, as usual, enjoying a nice cup of coffee before heading out. Guess I'll take a spin on "life" too! Anyone up for a thrill ride this morning?

Choc, it's nice to have those traditions, and to share with friends and family!

Kay... Nope on early Christmas... It was just a get together we do every year where one of our friends fixes a delicious home cooked dinner & we all trade gifts... Our Russian Orthodox Christmas is on January 7th this year ....our family observes the traditional Dec 25th for our Christmas family gathering & gift exchange... Then, for us, the January 7th date is more of a religious observance due to our Russian ancestry.

Glad we have the motor running on "life" this morning, it will be a great morning for a quick spin 'round the mountain!

We celebrated Hanukkah with our neighbors last night (none of us are Jewish, just to clear that up, but her DIL is, so they celebrate those holidays in her honor). It was a nice time, but as usual, I probably had a half glass of wine too much! Not really hungover, but feeling a bit fatigued, and I slept in past 5:30 this morning!

We're cold here, but the ground is clear, lots of snow on the mountains, so pretty much the perfect situation as far as being able to enjoy the beauty of the snow without the hassle!

Maui, sorry to hear about your accident! Glad you weren't more injured, but do take care and rest/ice, I know you have the ice set up! PT when it's time... Sounds like you got some nice pics up there though, foxes and coyotes!

Choc, hope you get some snow soon! Was your Christmas early this year?

Jane, keep plugging away at it! I've been slowly trying to get some running in as well, just to work a couple of days a week to prep for 1/2 marathon training (planning on a 1/2 in the spring). It's slow, but I don't want to injure anything!

Mary! Hey! busy is good, but also nice to take a few minutes here and there to relax a bit. How's the running going?

Wood, hope the woodshop is productive this morning! Got some nice projects going in there? I'll have to go check out your blog next!

Happy Wednesday!

I'll jump onto "Life" in a few minutes, but first I need a little coffee. I'm in a fog this morning; both outside my window and behind my eyes! I do miss my wake up time outside in my hot tub but the doctor says not for two weeks after surgery. Two weeks on Thursday!!!

Speaking of doctors, Maui, glad your doctor told you that everything appears to be okay! But, once again, we get to see just how quickly things can change for us! Hope the aches clear up quickly!

SDL - Everybody needs somebody that they can talk to. Glad you're there for someone who really needed somebody when nobody seemed to be there! We all know just how good a hug feels when we're battling life and sometimes that hug comes in the form of a phone call, or an email or a text! Having a job that allows you to make someone feel better can be priceless! It doesn't surprise me that you'd be good at this.

....and yes Mary, I agree with you totally that "The Deck" has indeed become a sanctuary of friends that not only support each other but think positively and hand out those mental hugs freely. I'm glad you found us and joined us.

Jane, I don't want you to even think that I got my ability to run back like I used to! My son, who is a runner, makes fun of me all the time about how slow I am! Your app would probably think I was walking as well. But I see me as running (and so does my heart!) and you know that's just fine! My mind might still be in it's adolescence (which I'm afraid is often obvious) but I need to work pretty hard to keep my "senior" body functioning as good as possible for as long as possible! Visiting nursing homes scares the crap out of me as I can imagine me being one of those sitting in a wheelchair in the hallway. Avoiding those days keeps me motivated!

Choc - Thanks for the kind words about my writing! Gloria says it's because I can't stop talking, so that when I'm not talking with my mouth, I'm doing it with my writing! She may be right!

Looks like a day in the shop again! Going to be a great day!

Life is good!

Wood, My first long Run in forever was only 3.54/10 miles although running used to be such a big part of my life. Itís incredible to me how my mind remembers but my body on the other hand belongs apparently to someone else! Ha Ha (some old lady!)

... Patience Jane. Itís the knees (must be cautious with the knees). I too like to think that as we age we are 'Ďstillí the same perhaps even as before adolescence kicked in. At least I think that I was more my truer self then (without pretense). Glad that you got your ability to run back Wood I hope to also someday.. Iím just at the crawling stage as present. It's funny my iPhone Spark App rarely tells me that I even jog at my pace it tells me I'm walking.

SDLOV3R, I donít think that weíve introduced ourselves (Iíll have to check out your page). Oh my a PhD program? I canít wrap myself around that thought right now. I hope you get settled and find your place in a program that fits & wonít require you to move. I dread going back in many ways but look forward to it at the same time (weird).

Thanx all for allowing me to jump in..

Wish we'd get some SNOW here where I am.

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas...

Youíve got to stick with it. Change doesnít happen overnightónot meaningful, lasting change. Practice regularly, whether itís leg raises or gratitude exercises or positive affirmations. Make it part of your daily routine if possible.

You need patience (goes hand in hand with the persistence mentioned above). Itís seldom a straight shot to your goal. Youíll have setbacks and hit plateaus. But youíll also have breakthroughs and make great leaps forward. If you feel stuck, donít lose hope.

Wood...such a touching blog...full of peace & grace...which I find in everyone on this "team"...what a special place I stumbled into in July when I first landed on the deck!

Drink lots of water everyone! It's sniffle season...hydration is so important...10% of students at son's school sick & absent yesterday...

Wood... Lived your blog! You have such a wonderful way with words!

Maui...OMG! I'm so glad your accident wasn't more serious & that you and your DH got through it with no major injuries! HUGS!!!!

And yup, Maui, I survived the pet sitting "craziness" (funny how just one more furry critter in the house can liven up the "routines" LOL)

SD... I should have followed your lead in the hiking hangover cure! We had our annual Christmas dinner & gift exchange with my sis and a group of our friends last night... Lots of food, fun and WAY TOO MUCH merlot! (I always wake up with a headache from Merlot ... Only wine that seems to do that to me, LOL)

Mary... Glad you made it to the deck, we missed you :-)

Kay... I've tried cooking with coconut oil a few times with pretty good results :-) Haven't used it in quite awhile though so maybe it's time I give it a try again

Snow & Kay... I wish we had some snow here... Can't wait to get back on the XC trails (but right now all we have is rain & mud... This time last winter we already had 16 inches of snow on the ground... Not that I want a repeat of last year's bitter cold & way too much snow, but a little bit for a white Christmas might be nice!)

Jane & Snow... Count me in on January LMS (the way I've already been "holiday eating" I'm definitely going to need that incentive)

Gotta go let my two dogs back in for the night
... Catch y'all later... Choc :-)

Just keep swimming!

Morning Deckies!

Wood- Beautiful letter my friend. emoticon I am so glad the star let me to the deck and my good friends here. Wood, so often, your words restore my hope in this world. Great people are here, giving, loving, wonderful people, sharing their gifts with those in need. Life is sure good here. You know I have a paper star lantern hanging in my dining room. Stars guide our hearts in so many ways. I think,if I could live in a way, where by I could star gaze all night as I sleep...life would be perfect. Thanks for sharing Wood.

Mary, thanks for stopping by, even though you are busy! I love seeing your smiling face here...you definitely brighten the deck.

SD- Hey...good for you for heading out to hike anyhow! Yep...I hear you on feeling the alcohol the next day...dehydration and Vit B! If I consume too late (Like after 6pm) haha...its too late. Like to have my wine in the afternoon...haha....And...Hey...did I miss this tobacco tracker??? 123 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is amazing! Fabulous! Good for you!

Kay and Snow- haha...what fun! I love it...I can picture you two, skiing...I want pics!

Choc- you recovered from pet sitting? did you get a snoreless night??

OK...MY weekend last weekend...was quite the roller coaster. Hubby and I headed up to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to play on the snow and let him play with his camera. All was great until we got rear- ended. My car took quite a hit and is now int eh shop for assessment to see if it can be safely repaired. I was driving. Stopped for the car in front of me stopped. Guy behind me did not stop. :(
Saturday night my back woke me from a sound sleep.
Yesterday saw the doc who did my back surgery. Hardware (rods and screws) are all in place, and no new fractures! Whew! Huge relief. My back hurts right where the hardware in on my back , but doc says it's likely the hardware dug into the soft tissues from the impact. My iliopsoas has been strained so my hip deep inside hurts, and r knee is red and swollen. My foot was on the brake so my knee took a hit as well, torquing my pelvis.Poor me. More ice and when it settles a bit, PT...AGAIN! deep breath. Honest, I am grateful we are not more injured. Hubby has a sore tight back, but nothing too bad. NSAIDS and ice.

Oh...the drive up was beautiful...very wet snow decorating the trees. In Hope Valley, south of Tahoe, the trees were decorated with cotton balls of snow. I had never seen anything like it. We also saw coyotes, deer and a fox pair. Got pics of the foxes playing in a snowy meadow by the Carson river....very cool.

Like we say...roller coaster ride! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Kay - I think jumping on "Life" every morning is a great way to start the day! Gets the heart pumping and certainly opens one's eyes! I think it's fun that your Larry does the cooking as well. Glor cooks more than I do, but I do at least several times a week. I love trying new stuff.

SDL - I understand that sweating out a hangover is painful but effective! Would you believe I don't get hangovers? I have no idea why but they don't happen to me. Glor thinks you have to have a brain for it to hurt. Maybe she's right. BTW, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up either.

Blogged yesterday for the first time in ages. Well it's more of a letter than a blog and it's written to my friends here. Yep! That includes all of you.

Not sure how much shop time I'll get in today. We're going to (hopefully) finish up our Christmas shopping today. We'll see.

Have a great day everyone! Now jump on "Life" and hold on!

Life is good!

Wow, what a busy weekend for everyone! And kind of up and down for a few of you. Life can cause us to struggle sometimes, but I love the optimism (and the attempts to be optimistic when actual optimism is out out of reach) in everyone here.

Jane, I don't think we've met! Graduate studies, huh? Very cool! I also went from one program to another - such an academic! I rolled from BS to MS and now I'm in a PhD program. I've actually been thinking about dropping out of this program, though. I've been in it for a year and my interests have shifted. I'm still not done learning, though, so I'm spending a lot of time doing research to figure out what kind of program best suits me. I'm thinking about getting a PsyD in Clinical Counseling, with a specialization in mood disorders. It's tough finding programs that don't require me to move, though.

Anyway, my weekend was pretty chill. Woke up early on Saturday to take my son to a robotics summit. It was so cool to watch him nerd out with friends. Then we hit up Payless and got him some new shoes. His school had a bunch of gift cards donated and my son was chosen to receive one. I wasn't sure why, since his shoes are perfectly serviceable, but then I was talking to his principal and she said he had worn flip flops an entire week because his sneakers were at his dad's. So now he has one pair for my place and one for his dad's place. Thoughtful and amusing at the same time, lol. Kiddo and I went home and napped ALL afternoon after that.

Saturday night, the bf and I headed out to a holiday party, which was pretty chill, and then stopped for some drinks and karaoke on the way home. I had a few too many drinks and woke up with a horrible hangover on Sunday. But I had planned a hike with a friend, so I stuck to my plans. I find that hiking hungover is a good way to sweat the alcohol out and also a fantastic way to force the recognition of how dumb it is to drink so much, haha. I'll have a drink here and there, but I only ever get drunk a few times a year. After the hike, bf and I just hung out in bed chatting and when kiddo got home from his friend's house we went out to Thai for dinner. Everyone was in bed by 8 PM. It was a restful weekend!

Today I have zero clients, so as soon as I'm done updating on here I'm pulling out my laptop to finish the last of some school work that's due tomorrow. Should be a pretty chill day!

Hey, Snow, anytime you want to hit the ski trails, just give a jingle! Do you skate? We have season passes at Royal Gorge, and the skiing was pretty good yesterday, even if there wasn't much open. It was lightly snowing pretty much the whole time. emoticon

Wood, hope you enjoy your "me" day in the shop! What an emotional weekend for you! The caroling sure did bring a lot of meaning to those folks lives, and nice that you were able to involve those children, I bet it's an experience that will take them through their lives understanding the meaning of enriching the lives of others.

We have a dusting of snow on the ground this morning, it's not completely covered, but just here and there, pretty!

So are we all ready for a quick Monday morning ride on "Life"? Buckle up everyone and get ready for some laughter and screaming! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Good morning OP! Sun is trying to peek through the clouds this morning and the temp is already above freezing. Good way to begin the week. Although my plan for the day is to spend most of it in the woodshop. A run or gym time for a bit this afternoon! Glor is road tripping with her quilting buddies today and I have a tendency to get a lot done on those days.

Snow, I doubt very much that I caused all that blushing. You work hard. Take pride! Really sorry to hear that life keeps tripping you up lately. If I could I'd take the magic carpet over there today and we could take a coastal walk and "just be" for a few hours. Clear the cobwebs. BTW, I'll take that noisy ride with you anyday!

So Kay, did you get out on those skiis yesterday? I was picturing you out there with Snow. I bet that would be a riot!

Jane, first of all welcome back! Secondly, glad to hear you're getting back into running. I got forced into giving it up for a few years, but got back into it almost 2 years ago now. (although the past 2 months has not seen one run, thanks to a bike accident). Anyway I'm older and I'm slower (very slow, I'm afraid) but it feels good to still be able to do it! One of my friends here on "The Deck" explains to me that we are indeed still the kids that we once were. I like that philosophy. Strangers may see me as a senior citizen, but my friends know I'm still a kid!

Last man standing? (LMS) I'll be there!

Kay - Love "Chicken chili". (along with almost any other kinds of chili). "Pop's Hot Spicy Chili" is a much requested meal among most of my family!

Have any of the rest of you cooks the on deck, discovered avocado oil yet? Just started playing around with it last week and I'm really impressed. Apart from all of the health perks, it tastes good with everything I've tried so far.

This was another busy crazy weekend. I won't even try to include all that went on, but it made my head spin! Most of it was great, some of it not as much so. Got a phone call about 10:30 Saturday night. (Yeah, we were actually home.) It was my younger son. He and his family and his in-laws went to the Hershey Lights display (a huge Christmas drive through attraction). After waiting 2 hours in a traffic jam to get into the display, Devin's father-in-laws minivan broke down 5 minutes into the display. With the help of Hershey employees they managed to move the van to a parking lot outside the display. (they were causing another jam in the display itself.) So they called us to rescue them. It's only about a 30 minute drive, but we had to take 2 cars: the Tahoe which is big enough to get all of them in and the Cobalt which Glor and I could return in. The minivan? Got towed. A nice late night glass of brandy followed the event.

Secondly, yesterday Glor and I participated in caroling done for shut-ins and residents of nursing homes. Not only did we sing, but Glor and I had the little kids do a hand bell rendition of some easy songs as well. I wish you all could have seen the faces on some of these people we performed for!!!! It's amazing how much it means to these people that somebody remembered them during the holiday season. At one of the homes, we were singing to about 25 seniors (mostly confined to wheel chairs and many with serious handicaps) and I made the mistake of looking out over the group and looking at their faces. Many were singing along with us, most were smiling, some had tears in their eyes. I became overwhelmed and couldn't sing anymore until I regained my composure. Afterwards, one woman probably of about 90 came up to us and thanked us for making her "Christmas". She said she had no family in the area and felt that there would be no merriment in this years Christmas. Another chair bond woman took my hand as I walked by and with a smile on her face and tears in her eyes, told me she loved me. I cried because I knew at that moment that she really did indeed love me.

Sometimes, I'm afraid, we simply run out of time in our busy lives and just realize that it takes a remarkably small effort to bring some much needed "warm fuzzies" into another's life.

I finished up our caroling event depressed, elated, confused, and oddly content. Talk about that roller coaster ride!

Peace, my friends,
Wood

OK .. I'll look forward to January for "Last Man Standing" thread...

Today is full of internal stirring.. I'm applying to Graduate studies and just graduated May 2014 and thought I was done with all of this but apparently NOT. Soooooo here I go AGAIN..

So happy to be SPARKING again with my iPhone APP that keeps me honest with myself & I'm out the door!

It's a beautiful SUNNY evening here where I am in Oregon & today I'll try my first long run in the longest of time EVER for an old girl (who used to be a runner in yester years in a younger and more agile version of myself).

Let you know how it goes!

emoticon LMS beginning on Jan. 2 sounds perfect to me Kay... look forward to "thinking and planning " more healthy eating and exercise plan for the new year.

Our son had quite the adventure driving up in all that gooshy mud in the mountains to dump a load of wood chips the other afternoon. Driving really slow, assessing the mud conditions carefully, he still managed to get the 9 ton load stuck in the mud. He dug out the back tires and thought he had it made, but the load was heavy and the truck is a huge chipper, and it just sunk in even deeper, the back bumper now is at mud level. After a 6 mile hike, soaking wet from sweat and some rain, meeting up with a mountain lion, and getting recued at the gravel road by his friend... he got home atlast, deflated , defeated and very tired and grumpy.
Yesterday morning he set out again up the mountain (near where we hike Maui, Stevens Creek Damn) and using more wood and "stuff" he brought up with him, he and his buddy managed to get it out without calling any pro's to come rescue it. His boss is kind of a jerk, his reaction was "deal with it"- offering no ideas or suggestions, just leaving our son to figure it all out. Luckily he is very resourceful and patient about work emergency situations- and got the job done, We didn't see him until very late as he washed the insides of the truck, today he is power washing and detailing it and it will look polished and brand new when he is done.
Did I mention he has lost 40 lbs since he began this arborist job? All muscle and brawn now, and always sore and tired. Its a good thing emoticon

Me? Well, DH is making our wonderful breakfast sandwiches...( LMS will insure those will be downsized a bit!! ) And then I think we will "fa la la lala" around and maybe pick up a few gifts, finish my tree... yes, I lost my mojo and just stopped decorating last week emoticon Life got in the way again.... speaking of LIFE... I need a speedy, hot, thrilling ride today.... anyone going to hold down those front seats so that I have someone to scream with???

***SNOW*** emoticon
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yay Kay!! Ski a run for us today! For a nickel.... Id drive up to Donner today... I swear Im talking it up, but Bob cannot ski!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAah!!! emoticon
Can I meet up with you one of these weekends, or sneek a Monday off to have the resorts to ourselves? heh heh heh.... just a thought

Sounds like you've been working hard, Snow, that's where the Hard Body comes from, right? I know what you mean about stores not carrying the merchandise they used too....I think they can carry so much more online, (and not actually have to "carry" it) that they aren't stocking the stores as much. As much as I enjoy shopping on line, there are still times I want to put my hands on something (and try it on!) before I buy....

So should LMS start on the 2nd? It's a Friday, and if we have all indulged on NYE, and start off on the high side at least we'd all have a good first week! emoticon emoticon

The chicken chili smelled good! I packed it all up for lunches, so I'll be sampling sometime this week.

Still planning on putting the skis on today!

emoticon O M G.... I had to read that twice... never been called a "hard body"... too funny emoticon blushing totally.

Went to the gym too this morning Wood, that's when I texted you I believe, then I rushed to work after my 2 classes and then had to run some errands around town before taking my tired *ss home. One of the stops was to Toys R Us... I have not been in one for many years, it has sure changed! Downsized quite a bit from the gigantic warehouse of toys that I recall form when we frequented there back when. Anyway, I went there for something specific and I saw it in one of their ads, it was on sale half off no less. Well... nobody had heard of it, even tho 2 clients had bought this for Xmas (as a funny gift). So didn't get what I wanted and I searched the entire store!! I did get 2 of those Christmas cans of popcorn tho...couldn't resist...good for a spare gift, but one is for me! OH...Wood, emoticon I can hear the wheels turning now... shame on you! I have to tell you guys what I was searching for tho... its called
"The Fart Piano". emoticon Gets quite the laughs Ive heard.. emoticon I will find it online Im sure.

Ok... time to chillax.... chicken chili sounds delish Kay! Oh and yes everyone!!!! LMS is going to be the thing after the first of the year, that is a given! Should be quite the motivation that we will all need after all our fun. Dinner time, but first a little sip of of DH's rum and coke... Im soooooooooo sore from the week! ***SNOW***

Good to hear your enjoying the gym, Wood! You must be healing well, eh?

We put off the skiing until tomorrow, but today is nice and sunny, and I put a pot of chicken chili on the stove to freeze for lunches later. It smells pretty good too!

When Kay and Snow, 2 of our hard bodies start to think they feel fluffy, I wonder how the rest of us should describe how we feel? Not going to dwell on it too much. Just make sure I get to the gym again today. Yesterday felt good!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Aw, shucks, ya'll might make me blush... emoticon but thanks for the kind words!

I'm feeling "fluffy" these days too, Snow! Probably too many cookies...so LMS in January is filling up fast! For the uninitiated, this is a "contest" that was started a while back and it stands for "Last Man Standing" and what we did, was you posted your starting weight (or set your tracker to 0 if you don't want to put down a number) and every week we check in. You stay "in" if the scale moves to the right or stays the same, you are "out" if you go up from last week. The winner is the last one left after everyone else has dropped. I think we had one "free" week where if we went up we could get back in again the following week if we were lower that the previous week. Is that right?

I did jog in yesterday, it was warm when I left and windy when I came home, but I did not get rained on! Also have not really seen a lot of rain (or snow) here, but Larry did say that Royal Gorge was opening tomorrow, so that's nice! Means skiing this weekend for me! emoticon Hope I remember how!

Maui, I think I forgot to congratulate you (and Leilani!) give her a hug for me, OK? emoticon

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry for now...unless you're soaking in the hot tub! Then just stay warm...

Good morning and Happy Friday! emoticon

Choc - I am so impressed that your shopping and gift making is done! Years ago my sister's labrador lived with us for 3 years (they were in London) - he snored too! and chased rabbits in his sleep and woofed at them!

Jane - I hope the bad weather has passed and you are warm and dry!

Wood - easel for your granddaughter - how sweet! Handmade gifts are the best - you, Choc and Maui are so thoughtful with you gift-making!

Snow - I have no idea what LMS challenge is but I'm in! Y'all will have to fill me in in January!

Malia - Fabulous names! How was your burger? emoticon

Kay - you are inspirational! I had the half in the back of my mind but wouldn't have looked up the date and started training if you hadn't mentioned that you and your sis were doing one! Thank you!

Maui - LOL my house isn't lovely but it's comfy and it's home and when the woodstove's cranked up like last night it is cosy! Frost on the ground this morning - brrrr - that doesn't happen much here...so glad the storm has passed you with no damage and that you're still getting much-needed rain!

Great 3 mile run last night...finished just as son was getting out of practice...forecast is lovely (highs in 60s) for the next week emoticon ...walking and hopefully some ST today...6 mile run tomorrow...hoping for a nice paddle on Sunday!

See you all in the hot tub tonight?

Pura Vida!

Morning all!

Jane- yikes...windy! stormy!...yes...nose down and inside sounds good. We had a spell of high winds here, peaking about 64 close to my house. 84 at the local mountain top, Mt Hamilton. but calm here today...how about you?

Choc- haha...snoring critters...bet you sleep well soon! we have a kitty who snores, but she's little, so nothing like a big dog. They are all lucky to have you. And shopping all done...good for you. I am not done yet...working on some home-made projects crochet, food gifts and a few purchased...not done yet...lol.

Wood- OK...good progress...good for you. I know what you mean a little about trying to find good wood this time of year...maybe any time of year. Even when building a raised bed for the garden, gotta sort through a ton of wood first to select the pieces...so your projects even trickier. Where is the beautiful wood store?????? For great price????
Crazy how making home-made gifts are now so expensive too.
Oh yes...Kay is amazing...idol sounds good.

Snow- your place all good after the storm??? You know, you too are an inspiration, staying on track...always.
You have all your decorations up???
You know I have this line of strung up crocheted snowflakes, across my piano...I think it's quite cute. Always makes me think of you...hehe... ;)

Malia- Thanks for the wine last night. It was perfect.
Its Friday...hopefully a bit of a break for you. But the storm is heading sound today. Hope your area is ok.

MAry you get in a run this morning??? Weather cooperating? I was thinking about holiday decorations...I bet your home is quite lovely. Do you have a tree??

Gotta make hubbies breakfast and lunch...so...I am off.Catch you all later!

Morning Choc! Always enjoyed the days when you and I open up the deck for the days activities! We pretty much have gone unscathed by the storms. Got a little snow, enough to make it pretty but not enough to have any real effect on anything. Being the real light sleeper that I am, all your cats and dogs in the house would have me real sleep deprived by now!

Kay - Love the fact that you jog to work! (Have I told you lately that you're still one of my idols?) Last year we had all that early snow in the east so we were already skiing by now. This year, so far, it's only been an inch or two at a time, so I haven't even prepped the skis yet. Looking forward to it!

Snow - I took a good look at your profile pic this morning! Those couple of pounds haven't negatively affected anything! Chubby? I think not! Never-the-less, I think I'll join your exercise plan for the day and make sure I get to the gym. My "couple" of pounds are more obvious! BTW - You have mail!

Mary - The 17th is just around the corner!!! Doing a half right after the holidays that way should prevent you from having those holiday pounds sneak on! Great plan! I'm excited for you!

Malia - (Is that spelled right? I keep changing it.) Like Maui, I love your family names! They're names that make me smile just saying them! What a wonderful thing it must be having a name that makes people smile! Come to think of it, I enjoy being Wood here on the deck because of the way this group has played around with it here over the years! Like you, posting about my activities helps keep me motivated. I guess that's part of the reason we're here isn't it? Oh, and as Maui also mentioned, you are definitely one of the positive spirits here. Love having you around!

Maui - Yep. Making some progress in the shop. Not doing as many projects as the last couple, but as always, I'm behind. Finished an artist easel yesterday for a granddaughter and today should finish the assembly end of a bookcase. Yesterday had to take the time to search out some new hardwoods. Buying quality hardwood lumber is difficult (and expensive). Local lumberyards carry mostly pine for home construction. It's a good thing that I get to do the hot tub on the deck because the doctor told me yesterday that I should stay out of the real ones for another week so that the incision heals totally first. So I turned down the heat for another week. The decks hot tub is more fun anyway!

Jane - Now that's windy!!!! How about you? Any direct influences from the storm? Still got your power?

Suns up! Time to put this day in motion. Have a great one everyone!

Life is good!

Oh my... All the storms on both coasts! Hope everyone is staying safe in all that rainy, windy, or snowy, icy weather! We are dry here, no snow in the ground and supposed to have above normal temps this weekend (I do hope we get some snow for Christmas though!)

I agree with Maui... Let's wait until January to restart the "Last Man Standing" thread... (Cause I have to admit I have NO willpower when it comes to all the upcoming holiday parties with family & friends, LOL)

Last day of my "doggie sitting" duties (my cats will be happy with that, LOL) my sister's dog is a real sweetheart, but it's amazing how three dogs & 2 cats all at the same time can totally change daily "routines!" LOL ... (That's my way of saying my housework and chores have pretty much been ignored this week!)
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I've finished all my Christmas shopping and homemade gift projects... Just need to wrap them ... First time in years I've been "done" this soon before Christmas! WOO HOO!

Have a fabulous Friday everyone! Choc :-)

Oh Malia...I think I'll have a glass of wine.
I'd love to join you.
I am sit in the hot tub too. :)

Everyone, Thank you for the good wishes for my family. Yes...this will be one crazy time next year...busy busy! No dates yet, but my son said, it will be 2015.

Malia- Love you family names, half Hawaiian sounds good to me.I think in my spirit I am part Hawaiian, since that is one of the places I feel most at home. (The other is the High Sierra)
My eldest son, called me Maui instead of Mommy when he was learning to talk...The name stuck! :) Leilani and I first went to Hawaii in 2004. These are our chosen E-names. :)
I remember when your knee was injured...good to hear it seems you are mended and resuming your active self, even if you are too busy! Good for you.
Another positive spirit.

Snow- I did not want it to seem I was ignoring your post regarding last man standing. While this is likely the best time to challenge ourselves...the schedule is so ridiculous...can we try I JAn?????

Wood -you making progress in the shop??? Yes, like others have said, your words and spirit are much appreciated here on the deck. How about you join us tonight for a glass of wine? And here on the deck...it's not too soon for the hot tub?

Mary- 3 miles...very good! Cool...but maybe perfect for a jog, eh?
Yes...we have definitely gotten the rain...its CRAZY! I set out my buckets again, took a walk before dark to survey the property...standing water in many places, no major damage. Winds have died down, and currently a steady rain. Yay!

wine anyone?

Maui, how exciting! Congrat to your whole family! On a side note, I love your daughter's name. My sisters and I all have Hawaiian names and my nieces and nephews as well. In no particular order, they are: Alamea, Malia, Lehua, Keoni, Ikaia, Anela. We had a doberman growing up named Leilani Kakalina Makana, haha. I'm half Hawaiian in case the names didn't allude to something of the like, lol. emoticon

All this talk about HM's! I ran my first last November and promptly injured myself in January. I'm just now back in training shape but have no time to run! I'm thinking about switching my work schedule around for other reasons, but if I do then it'll give me more time to run as well. Lots of things popping into the "pro" column of this decision! If I do get to train then I won't be ready for a half until the latter part of the year. I'll want to build up slowly. But keep posting about it in here! It's motivating and keeping my training in the forefront of my brain!

Wood, I know things are kind of up and down for you right now and I also know how AMAZING you are at keeping a positive outlook. It's quite inspiring! We are all incredibly fortunate to have your presence here on deck.

I think I'm going to turn on the heat lamp and hang out on the deck with a bottle of wine tonight. Anyone care to join?

Good morning!

Maui - What exciting news!!! 2 weddings to plan! Your family is growing! Congratulations! Good luck with your ant battle!

The weather sure is cray-cray out there - hope all you west-coasters and your families are battened down and staying warm and dry today!

Kay - I found my half plan via google search - it was on the Dartmouth MBA triathlon club website - you never know where you'll find what you're looking for with the internet! I'm doing beginner plan but there are intermediate and advanced I think it's a better plan for a 20-something grad student that a 50-something mom but my time is limited so I'm giving it a shot...hope you stayed dry this morning and the snow stays in the mountains!

Wood - I have made dead rats several times and love them!

Today is 3 mile day...it was 34 degrees at 8 this morning...it's supposed to be 50 when I get off work at 6 so I elected to run in the dark instead of the cold & will run tonight while at school...

Pura Vida!

Good Morning OP!!!

Well, I think the ski areas should be happy by the end of the weekend (and hopefully mine will be opening soon? They should get a good base, but will have to groom before we can hit those trails...) Reno is not supposed to get much if any snow, but it is supposed to rain tonight (with a chance of snow really late). I'm OK with snow in the mountains and not on the ground here! It makes my walk/jog commute much easier! Speaking of which, I'm jogging in this morning, so I do hope the storm delays a little for me. We did have some strong winds last night, but it seems pretty calm now. I imagine we will lose some shingles if not the entire roof once the winds hit max!

Mary, that half is coming quickly! Your plan sounds pretty simple, did you make it up, or did you find it somewhere? I could probably try a scheme like that, I'm not trying to break any records, but it would be nice if I could get near my other half times, around 2 hrs 15 min. We'll see!

Enjoy Thursday!

Morning Deckies!

Yes...it's still morning!
Had a goofy start to my day...ANTS! No biggy I guess...but these ants who have settled into drought -ed soil...are now getting wet, and seeking shelter...INSIDE my house. No no no...
And being all organic and all...this is a challenge...But, I will win this game...just takes some attention!
Yesterday was a fine but long day too...Drove up to my older son's ...his ceiling was leaking! And a HUGE storm on the way. Had to help him 'engage' the management to seek a better solution. (It had leaked before and their 'fix' did not work!) Not that its been tested too much, in their defense. Anyhow... (For those wondering why I had to assist, my son is disabled)
While I had their attention, I had them replace his toilet! Yay! It was a 85 year old toilet. Worked...but it was time for a change!
Then...after a long drive home after a successful day, I settled in after a shower...to read and My daughter and her BF announced their engagement. Yep...Leilani is engaged! So now my 2 younger kids are planing weddings! Eeeeek!
Fun times!

Wood- Oh gosh...so sorry to hear about your back. Any better today? Exercise will resume in short order, so be good till then. Do you have any idea what 'set' your back off? Sometimes, it can be just stress, right? No hot tub still due to surgery, right? So...I'll set up the massage table back by the waterfall. The sounds of the falls should lull you a bit too. Relax my friend...we gals are here...Oh hey...speaking of gals...I hung the Mistletoe over the Tapas BAr...you were so distracted when all the decorating work was happening...just letting you know. But I figure you must be spending more time in the wood shop, this time of year!

Mary- Jan 17 is coming fast! Good timing though...ought to help with teh holiday extras we tend to find.

KAy- Yep...buttoning up today...we are supposed to get 50-70 MPH winds...Yikes! Feast or famine round here...unfortunately this leads to downed trees and mud slides. My home is good...mostly...only big thread is our huge redwood. I am hooping the extra watering we did back in Sept and October...will have set the roots down deeper.

Snow- you battening down? Hurricane right! Rain and wind...haha...just not warm.

Choc- critter sitter extraordinaire! Happy..everyone happy?

SD- you sound super...rested and raring to go! Inspirational!

Kay- well...more snow on its way right???
What's your forecast? Do you have to batten down the hatches??

OK...chores gotta happen. I am going to mow and turn compost before the big rain again.

emoticon Good morning deckies!

Wood- you did kinda get double-whammied with bike wreck and surgery! But it's just a temporary set back! and you can still sing and play games! What fun! Keep up the yoga! emoticon The half is Jan 17! Yikes!

SD - Enjoy that burger! emoticon

Choc - emoticon you are such a great sis and doggie aunt! And I adore your little tree! emoticon

Kay - your walk/run to work is longer than I imagined! How awesome that you put 6 daily miles on your sneakers so often! emoticon For my half training I'm doing 2 short easy runs and 1 long each week...last week 2.5/2.5/5 this week 3/3/6...keep adding .5 to short and 1 to long and I'll jog 10 miles on Jan 10, then 2 miles on the 13th & 15th and the half on the 17th...
I put my chances at about 50/50 of completing - any pain in the legs and I'm a drop-out!...I'm not used to jogging in cooler weather but after my 3 miles yesterday with temp of 42 I feel great today...realized at 10 this morning that I had been up for 3.5 hours and had not thought about my legs once! But I took it super easy - 11+ minute miles - but that's o.k. I'll worry about speed next time emoticon

Snow & Maui - hope you're still getting some drought-quenching showers! emoticon

Have a great day everyone!

Pura Vida!
Mary

I suspected you might enjoy playing Santa on deck, Wood! emoticon Ho, ho, ho! emoticon We've had some pretty skies here lately, I've got soft pinks to the west this morning, bet it's technicolor to the east!

Well, better get going, I still have to pack for work!

Maui, and Snow, are you battening down the hatches? I saw a big storm is supposed to be headed your way?

Good morning Deckies!

Kay, If by looking more like Santa is gong to have all of you taking turns sitting in my lap telling me what you want for Christmas, maybe I'll just put on a few more pounds!!! There just may be some benefits to weight gain after all! emoticon Now talk about running, man, I haven't run in 6 weeks!!!! Probably a big factor in the weight gain!

Snow - Thanks for the "pick-me-up"! None of my issues is dragging me down and if I'm coming across to the rest of you out there on the deck that I'm going through a bad stage, I want you all to know that regardless of the physical hickups in my life, I'm still having a very good time! Sometimes these little things happen and we've got to work through them!

SDL - Unfortunately, with Glor and me, when one of us slips, the other usually goes along for the ride! LOL! But then again, fortunately, the opposite is also true, when one of us is working hard at the fitness thing the other is also. Ends up working out!

Well, the sun is lighting up my mountain, so I think it's time to get this day on the road. Already did my yoga (works as good as anything for the back), but it's too windy for the hot tub! Weatherman has really been off lately! Yesterday was supposed to be an icy mix: we had a little drizzle. Today he's predicting snow. The sun is shining!

Put a little excitement in your life. Just sayin'!

Lots of deck-tivity today! Nice to see, but I have a lot of catching up to do now!

SDL, I loved the PCH when I've driven it, really cool all the way from Oregon on down, I don't think there a bad spot! Nice that you got to enjoy so much of it! Sorry to hear about the clogged drain, at least you have a prevention plan going forward. How was the burger?

Maui, digging in the dirt? Dungeness and roasted veggies does sound pretty tasty! Glad your hawk is still keeping you company.

Mary, I'm curious when your half is too, I'm probably going to run one with my sister in March (assuming I don't injure myself in the meantime) so I've been trying to put down a running base here the past week or so. I've started running in to work instead of walking, it's a little under 3 miles, but it's taking me over 30 minutes! I'll need to find a training plan soon, what are you using?

Choc, hope the dogs and cats are behaving!

So Wood, if you are looking like Santa, will we all be sitting on your lap and telling you what we want for Christmas this year? Did you find that mistletoe yet? Hope you get to workout soon, I hear you on the easy access to cookies! I've been hitting the sugar a bit too hard lately, and need to turn that habit back around!

Wood, I get where you're coming from, but follow doctor's orders with that exercise! Maybe just keep Glor around to smack your hand at the parties. emoticon

I'm actually experiencing the opposite. Dropped 5 lbs in the last few weeks, likely because I've been so busy. I have a range that I like and where I was previously toward the heavy part of that range, I'm approaching the low end. I know if I keep up these eating habits I'll have a problem, so I'm going to make some concerted efforts to eat more....starting with lunch today. I didn't eat breakfast, but I'm having a gigantic greasy bacon bleu cheese burger for lunch, lol. YUM! It'll probably fill me up to where I don't eat dinner, though, so however that works out...

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

That's it!!! I need exercise and I need it now!!!! I also need to stop putting all this holiday goodies in my mouth!!! My goodness Christmas is still a couple of weeks off and the scale is already protesting loudly. It's been a rough last 6 weeks on my body. Injuries from crashing my bike slowed down the exercise routine. Then I get the pacemaker replaced and it brings the exercise level almost to zero. (Not even permitted to drive myself to the gym yet.) My back went out on Saturday! (*@#$%*) And there's been all kinds of social events that have been lots of fun, but loaded with holiday goodies! By Christmas I really will look like Santa!

However, it's been a lot of fun lately as well. Glor and I were in the Christmas Pageant at church on Sunday evening. (more of a Christmas talent show). What a great time! Glor and I both did dramatic readings and sang silly Christmas songs with the choir. We lead the kids in a bell chime rendition of "Jingle Bells". I also sang with the select men's choir! Really put us in the holiday mood.

Last evening we went to our friends' house for dinner. (The other tandem bikers we hang around with). Had a phenomenal meal of marinated elk and grilled vegetables (and a couple of bottles of wine.) ...and oh yeah, Christmas cookies that were amazing! See why the scale is complaining? Afterwards, we played "chicken foot" dominoes and planned a house boat trip on the Rideau canal for next September. Fun! Fun! Fun!

We started decorating the house yesterday, but only got about half way, so the place is a mess today. Hopefully, we'll finish today!

Speaking of Christmas decorations, I still haven't found the deck mistletoe! I looked up Maui, but didn't see and if I've been under it so often with all these different girls, I'm really put out that nobody has given me any indication that we were there!

Mahalia!!! Great trip! You are indeed The Outdoor Woman! However, it's great to have you back on the deck now.

Snow - Ribs are apparently about healed. Don't have any discomfort there. Be glad to get these darn staples out of my chest however! Definitely starting to come around however.

Maui - Sorry I missed your message the other day. I need to change the sound this new phone makes when I get a message. I totally don't pay any attention to it. Try try again!
Still raining there? Icy mix here today.

Choc - Sounds like you're running your own animal shelter there! What you need yet is a mouse running around the living room to really liven things up!

Mary - I need some reminding. When is your race? And have you actually tried "dead rats" yet?

Okay, got to get this back loosened up. What did with do with the massage table anyway?

Life is good!

Quick pop in (and out)... Been a crazy busy weekend & now I'm "doggie sitting" my sister's big Bernese Mountain dog (which means I now have 3 dogs and 2 cats to keep "happy" for the next week... The dogs are happy, the cats "not so much" with the extra canine visitor, LOL)

Dead rats sound yummy... I'll try to stop in later for a "nibble" and to catch up in what everyone's been up to!

Just keep swimming!

Never give up!

Happy Monday everyone!

Snow and Kay - you girls have been rocking your exercise & rocking your kitchens too! emoticon

SD - emoticon What a great road trip!

Maui - You got to do some digging! And the best kind - harvest digging! Yum! emoticon emoticon

CEI - emoticon with your step class! Hope you weren't too sore!

Busy weekend...fun party Friday night! On track with my half marathon training...this week's plan is 3 miles Tues, 3 miles Thurs and 6 miles Saturday...we'll see - right now I'd say it's about 50/50 that I will complete my plan and actually run the race...weather will be a factor but bigger factor is my legs...if they complain too much I will listen...don't want an injury!

My paper towels today had chili peppers printed on them...I'm thinking that means dead rats around the fire tonight! Hope you can join me!

Pura Vida!

Morning Deckies!

Well, tis the season for sure. Everyone is getting busy!
A good sign. :)

Snow, well...the cooking sounds yummers. Te game sure went 'south' eh? I was not watching, but we turned it on for the last few minutes...wow...sadness.

Kay- Decorating...I know what you mean. I have multiple emotions with the entire process. I do especially love the lights and all up. We have our blue lights on the porch, which makes it feel brrrrrrrr cold.
My snowflakes are out and ready to put up...maybe this afternoon.
I have our tree up and the last few decorations will find their way on the tree today.
Will Larry help with decorations?
Our hawk has been back every afternoon. So, I am quite sure he/she has claimed our tree. Their is a nest 2/3 of the way up, I suspect its a hawk nest. Its a juvenile...VERY big youngster...maybe this was his birth tree. Unlike humans. these birds grow to adult size in one season.

SD- your trip sounds prefect! PCH ...cannot get enough, right? regardless of how many times I drive that highway, I love it every time. Stop Sooooooooo many times at the turn outs right? Every little trail...love it. Happy for you. You know you were almost in my neighborhood...45 minutes away from Santa Cruz. ;) Next time girl!

Of course, I have a big list. Saturday we dug our sweet potatoes and replanted onions. Now I have to worry it'll be too wet! hahaha. We dug potatoes too. Yum. When digging, a few broke or had their skins wounded, so I had to oven roast them yesterday. Made sweet potato, new potato ,apple, sage, lemon and just a drizzle maple syrup. Had some dungeness crab with it. CRAZY good. We are having a fabulous crab season right now. Yum!

Anyhow...I have to make hay while the sun shines! More rain is on its way!
Later gators.

Hello, hello! I've been out for a couple weeks. Went on my road trip over the November holiday. I drove up to Santa Cruz and started my southward trek from there, down the PCH. It was so gorgeous. I hiked at about every state park along the way (saw some amazing waterfalls, redwoods, wildlife) and rode my bike quite a bit as well. It was so rejuvenating!

Last week was insane at work. Had a main pipe clogged, which has resulted in close to $10k in damage and is not covered by insurance since it's "user error". I work as a case manager in subsidized housing, so we're distributing pamphlets and notices to the residents and providing a training seminar to hopefully address the behaviors that led to the clog. Then once a quarter our facilities person is going to go into every apartment and draino the crap out of everyone's pipes just in case. Sigh....

This week is full of appointments and meetings but no appointments OR meetings today, so I'm taking the time to do work for school and my internships and to prep for some of those meetings later this week.

Hope everyone has a great day/week!

Wow, you were (are?) busy in the kitchen there Snow! Impressive! I have some veggies roasting in the oven, that's about as ambitious as I got. We should be headed out to today's holiday party in a few hours, so that will be our excitement for the evening!

I pulled out some of my Christmas decoration, not putting up the tree at this point, Maybe the urge will strike me later, but right now I'm good with the minimal decorations I have out for the moment.

We had a hawk perch himself (herself?) on our fence, just sat there for the longest time....may still be there for all I know! I walked over pretty close too, and he did not flinch, just looked at me, then looked back over the canyon. Pretty cool.....

emoticon Wood..... What are you doing today? Im thinking about you, hoping your chest feels better, that your ribs are calming down.... I know you have lots of love around you and that always helps heal things up faster!

Nice cloudy day, emoticon more rain on the way they say- 49er/Raider game in a half hour... might watch some of it, run errands and a day to make up all my lasagnas to put in the freezer for the holidays and winter. Made some guacamole, beanie weenies in the crock pot...left over pot roast and veggies with a spinach salad/ raspberry dressing..... the day is pretty well planned out.
emoticon Hope everyone is having fun today, getting ready for all the Christmas holiday cheer! Im pretty sore today from my zumba, steps classes and time on the elliptical this week..... lifting huge water soaked pottery pots from the yard to the patio pretty much did me in.... emoticon but it can rain all it wants to now..... emoticon ***SNOW*** emoticon

Well, I ended up jogging in to work! And my legs felt fine...although later my lats started feeling the Pilates from Thursday morning! Using those muscles in a different way always wakes them up! emoticon

Our holiday party was fun! One of my "guys" won a big screen TV, and he wasn't even there! I hope he's excited when he finds out!

I'm making meringues for a holiday cookie exchange, they aren't looking too happy, so I hope they look good enough for the party! I found a Spark recipe where you add coconut, and I didn't add as much as it said, but still think it deflated my whipped whites! Oh well, they smell good! I put some cocoa in the last bit, and those actually look best of all. Go figure!

emoticon I KNEW I should have commented on the "murder of cows"...Im just so used to reading past Maui's typos, that I made it a conscious decision NOT to raz her on this one, but I do have to say, I even read it outloud to my DH and he laughed too!! We are on the same page on that one Wood (guess its the teacher and the English major, eh?)

I have to run, off to the gym..... trying to lose a few lbs prior to the Xmas parties, etc..... Im thinking of asking you all to join me after the first of the year for another LMS competition.... its just an idea I thought I'd throw out there.... I think Kay was wanting to also, just not right now! Think about it....

Have a wonderful day today..... ***SNOW*** emoticon

Gooooood Morning Deckies!

Ha ha...yep, glad I can be counted upon for a good laugh. Cows up in the tree...LOL. Kay, my eyes saw the 'R' too...hehe.

Wood- Did you sleep ok? Surgical sight didn't wake you up? Yes...Energizer Bunny for sure. Maybe that's what you have to be for next Halloween.
BTW- you were right under the Mistletoe last night 3 times! With 3 different gals! Look up Man!
:)

Kay- wow...you sounds Really Sore! Um...later today we are supposed to get big storms. Maybe it'll hit you though the night...Hope the walk warm up those legs! I saw a bit of the moon, but were were partly cloudy and showers...but when it peaked out, super bright from the clean air I believe! Gorgeous.

Mary...You know Wood is right...paper towels...who knew? The quotes are still ruminating in my mind. Oh yes, my mind...hahaha...

Snow- Well, I read your post again, giggled again about the sexy woman's voice for Wood...perfect! Bet you are really into a busy time at work, holidays and all. Please take good care of you.

My day started with inspect the ant trail going from my dining room french doors, into my kitchen. Had to put out any bait last night, had the critters everywhere this week. Looks like a solid trail, hopefully and end to the problem. Don't think they like all this rain. Hope this solves the problem.

I have more ornaments to put on my tree, so hope to do this before heading over to my friends. Seems like a good plan.
I'll check back later.
Happy Friday friends!

I missed the murder of cows! I guess my brain filled in the "r" on that one, like a pirate! emoticon "arrrrrr"!

Yep, drinking and giggling...nice combo!

Our company holiday party is tonight, I'm glad I got those new dresses for the wedding, as I can pull one out, and not "threepeat" the dress I wore the last 2 years (not that I think anyone would know or care!)

Walking in today (maybe hobbling in, my quads are still a little sore!)

Anyone else enjoy that moonlight last night? It was quite bright over here!

Last night was just what "The Deck" needed: a night of giggling and just feeling good! Now this morning I took the time to read the past couple of days posts a little more carefully and they made me giggle all over again. Here's a few things that made me smile.

1) With all this talk about my new battery, I feel like the Energizer Bunny! (and yep, I still keep going and going and going!)

2) (can't believe nobody else caught this one) Maui I am totally amazed that you saw a murder of "COWS" harassing a hawk about a 100 ft. up! Maybe the crow didn't feel intimidated but I'll bet anybody under that tree looking up sure did!!!!!

3) Mary, we get philosophical here pretty often but to the best of my knowledge this is the first time the source of our inspiration was a roll of paper towels! I love it! Although I will say that some times of enlightenment do come with a roll of toilet tissue near by!

4) Also, Mary, just offering us laughs by offering you stronger drinks endeared you to me. Just look what you started!

5) Snow - telling a guy who calls himself Wood that he got you all tied up in "knots" is just plan funny! My texts being read in a seductive female voice is also very amusing!

Love this place and all of you here!

emoticon Giggling down the path...... yeh, I took a shot of Brandy too, the frosty beer glasses were a great touch to the bubbly brewskie! Im DE-stressed for sure now, and I meant that in my other post, prior to my working out I was probably DIS- tressed! Funny you caught that Kay!! I had to read it over again as well!

AAAAAAAAAAAhhhhh Wood, my car read outloud your text to me on the way home from work, I kinda had to crack up because my car has a woman's voice (rather seductive as well, lol! ) Yes Im am never far from our deck, guess we are both relieved to figure out we are both doing well emoticon
Now then..... who stole the brandy bottle?....... hmmmm.... I hear giggles behind the water falls.... uhhhhh ohhhhhhh......
