Felt pretty good yesterday, first time in a while! Got to the gym after work, did some yoga when I got home, and we went to the neighbors for dinner. They kindly made me a bland meal, and I skipped the wine. Nice company and conversation....can't beat that!

I'm hoping to walk in to work today and tomorrow, hope the smoke has cleared out, it was pretty bad yesterday. It looks a bit better this morning, at least you can see the mountains across the valley, not so yesterday!

Tar, enjoy your long weekend!

Got in the bike ride! I wasn't feeling it when we started out, but got warmed up, and made it to the top. We could see a lot of smoke drifting in, and asked the fire lookout guy if it was the Yosemite fire, but he said it was a new fire in Pollock Pines, with mandatory evacuations. I started smelling it about halfway down to the car, and could see some ash falling as well. emoticon We've had a fairly benign year for fires compared to last year, but I really hate to see all that smoke, never a good sign!

Choc, hope you got out too!

Tar, 3 day week beats my 4 day week (I'm hoping to take Friday off to run errands!)

On a good note, my GI issue has seemed to finally calmed down a bit, I had no issues to speak of after yesterday morning...fingers crossed I'm turning a corner on this!

I might get a ride in too after it warms up a bit (low this morning was 36 degrees, BRRRrrrr! We seem to be jumping from summer right into winter with no Autumn in between!)

Ouch, Choc, well, however you cracked those ribs, I hope they get better soon!

Tar, I've done some hiking in Zion, but not that one. There are many great hikes there it's a beautiful area. Hard to go wrong!

Maui, I still have the kombucha, I told Larry I would lay off for a while, since he blames that for my problem. I told him that's not the culprit but he's suspicious, so I'll lay off until the labs come back and I get a diagnosis from the doctor. Still waiting!

I made an appointment to get my hair done on Friday....it's pretty much been 3 years since I've had anyone cut it! Crazy, I know...but since we're headed back to our niece's wedding in DC in October, I figured that was a good excuse! I may have to take the day off, I need a dress too, it's black tie optional, and I don't really have anything that is appropriate for that kind of event, so I just need to get out and find something. Wish me luck on finding comfortable dressy shoes! emoticon

Hi all... Not to worry bout the ribs...just cracked, not broke....I was just a klutz, tripped & did an imitation of the "help I've fallen & can't get up" commercial, LOL (wish I could say it was due to something exciting & wildly adventurous but was just a slip & fall about a week and 1/2 ago here at home)

Morning Deckies!

Kay- Hope the rice works! And then, once settled some good fresh probiotics. Your sister's Kombucha still percolating at your place? I bet my Kimchi and sauerkraut would help once you could eat cabbage...hmmm...hope they doc figures it out soon!

Kelpie- Thanks for the blanket. It was super warm when I went to sleep, but the night cooled nicely. I even slept in! Mmmmmmm...aubergine caviare one of my favorites. Sounds like a perfect summer munchie. ahhhh and with wine...of course! Hard to express how happy I am to know you are here. I have figured you were so gosh darn busy with 3 jobs or something...so have been waiting to 'let you settle it all out', and surface when you got a breather. Yay. You got on the bike! There lots of bike riding going on. Wood even bought a road bike! I am still working on getting my bottom ready for biking...lol. I bet the help line for fitbit might indeed help. I never got one...but maybe I will start wearing my step counter. That's really all I need.

Choc- Did I miss something?????? How did you crack ribs?????
Please take care!

I have company coming for supper. A man and his wife, who was a beloved teacher to my children is retiring to Oregon. So dinner prep here...and regular chores, so better get hopping. Won't check back till tomorrow...
So, hello to everyone else...Enjoy your Saturday!

OK, aubergine caviar? Recipe? That sounds good....and probably something I can eat at the moment....if it's not spicy. I've been roasting veggies a lot, can't eat raw stuff right now.

Re: fitbit, I ended up getting a new one when I lost my first one on a long bike ride. No way I was going back to hunt it down! And it seems to hold a charge much better than the old one (which held the charge pretty well) so I think they have made some improvements.

It looks like a nice day, hope I can shake this fatigue and get out!

Thanks for the welcome back, I feel quite at home. That's why I tiptoed round putting blankets on those of you who enjoyed the bonfire. Did anyone manage to see the "heavenly dancers" here's a link to a song from my childhood....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SNO

On cheat meals, I remember a school friend's dad, who was a consultant cardiologist, when he put people on a diet, he said, high days and holidays excepted! We had some of Jacques' children last night, so it was an exception. Mind you, not over the top, I'd made aubergine caviare, which we had with veggies from the garden, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, carrots... as a starter, and then Jacques had cooked a rabbit with carrots etc, served with ratatouille, again from the garden, cheese and peaches, from the garden. This is the time of year of abundance! There was also an abundance of wine! That might have been slightly over the top emoticon

Choc, hope the ribs get better soon, and Kay, that you get your issues sorted out.

Well done tar!

Maui, looking forward to catching up a bit more.

OK, only day two, but I did manage the exercise bike again!

My fitibit is being a bit erratic though, it sometimes won't charge, which is a pain. I might contact them to see if they have any ideas, or if it is just needing replaced! If so, it'll have to wait!

Off to get some more things done,

Have a great weekend.

Maui, I must have read your mind before I read your post....just made a batch of white rice (with fat-free chicken broth) which should be on my menu for dinner. I'm hoping Larry will get my phone message, I asked him to pick up some stuff from the store that I can eat, we are out of bananas, and that has been my go-to fruit (and I finished up my homemade applesauce this afternoon as well!). Anyway, I called the doctor and they finally called me back this afternoon, labs still aren't back yet... emoticon so I'll just eat the bland food and wait.

Tar, I don't track, so I don't have any thing to call a cheat meal, but I don't like the term, but I'm OK with the concept. Actually I don't think dieting needs to involve deprivation, if we try to make most of our food choices healthy ones. There should always be a little room for a treat now and again, and I think when we put foods off-limits (unless they really do a number on our physiology) it makes them more tempting and it makes us more susceptible to bingeing when the opportunity presents. But I guess I should ask, what exactly do you mean by "cheat meal"?

Kelpie! Welcome back to the deck!

Choc, did I miss something? Cracked ribs? ouch! Sorry you had to miss your backpacking trip....hope you feel better soon!

We're still pretty warm here during the day, then cool way down at night, which makes it so much easier to sleep...

Kelpie... Hi & welcome back! So good to see "the old crowd" here with all our new members! The more the merrier!!!! :-)

Maui... Send some of that hot weather this way! Only in the 50's here during the day and has been in the mid to low 40's at night (with lots if rain, wind and storms mixed in during the week)
This weather, along with a few cracked ribs that I'm nursing, has forced me to cancel the week long backpacking trip I was planning for this coming week on an island off Michigan's Upper Peninsula ...I could probably "put up with" the rain if it was warmer here, but the ribs were the final deciding factor... Didn't think a backpack & all day hiking in cold and rain would help in the "healing" ....and the "bummer" part is this was my last chance to go there this summer because after next week the "ferry" (AKA pontoon boat) that takes you over to the island will be closing for the season... Oh well, I guess I'll have to just start planning next summer's trip instead (Maybe I'll go back to Isle Royale in Lk Superior... LOVED that trip when I did it a few years ago)

Hope everyone is having a great Friday... How about a bonfire on the deck tonight?

Just keep swimming!

Happy Friday all,

Kelpie- emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Beyond great to have you here. Lots to catch up on...most everyone is here...some may be on holiday etc...so no worries. One of my 'big' news stories, is I got to go visit Aster on her farm in August. It was amazing of course. Deer, coyotes, crickets, gardens, springs, fields, golden eagle, swallows, bats, apples, GREAT food, wine, company and more...a bon fire! Anyhow, Hugs across the ocean my friend.

Tar- OK...cheat meals...YES they are OK. But paired with honesty...every other meal cannot be a cheat meal. And over the course of 6 meals, the damage has to balance back out...yes?
I try to regulate the cheat meal...by several factors...Size ...meaning caloric intake, timing, what I ate the rest of the day. Our liver can only process so many calories in a few hours...so...rather than withholding a treat, try to control the caloric load. If you have to have some chocolate cake, have it A couple hours from a meal. It'll do less damage. And if I went way overboard on a meal, then really trim back the next few meals, then right back on track. Wine etc...plan ahead and consider this your bread for the meal. So...veggies and protein, with wine on the side for the carb...plan smart, even when cheating per se.
Hope this helps.

Hot hot hot here...100ish today. Trying to baby my poor little seedlings...sheesh...

Kay, Hmmm...sorry about the symptoms and not hearing back from the doc. Frustrating I imagine. Rice? I know...its not always good to eat a 'ton' of rice, but...
Doc Maui says...white rice. Nice big bowl, plain. Boring yes and simple carb I know...but,maybe it'll work. Maybe even for 3 meals straight. Then add other foods carefully.

Bland diets...blah...but, sometimes the cure.
Get better my friend.

Beautiful moon again tonight. Hope you all went out to enjoy. I think I may just sleep out on the deck and gaze tlll my hearts' content.

Quick update, no smoke today that I could tell really, so that's a relief!

Have not heard from the doctor yet, I was hoping to hear today, so I'll try to call tomorrow if I get a chance. I was feeling better today do for a while, but the symptoms came back again mid-afternoon...well, I guess I'll stick to this bland diet for a few more days, or until I hear from the doctor.

Larry's almost got dinner ready so I'm going to run!

Morning Deck Friends!

Kelly Mama, Hehe...yep...busy with baby, I am just picture you and sweet Olivia. Time goes so fast and soon she'll be 2 months. Wow...
And I see you are logging some miles yourself with activity. How's that feeling?
And yes...I lots of planting room. The new boxes are all about 4' x 8'. and I have 12.5 of them...plus ground level area about 30' x 8. We may make that area into boxes too....So much easier on my body. lol... My fall garden is already sprouting and the 90-ish temps we have been having and will have all week will sprout my seeds for sure (As long as I keep them watered a bit) so far so good. Some I have to shade from sun...in this heat, but the boxes with PVC pipe arches over with netting make it easy to shade the 'babies' when necessary. My carrot bed and beets are up! Turnips and spinach, lettuces and leeks already babies. Cabbages and cauliflowers already about 6" high. Happy camper. Today I am roasting more tommatillos and Anaheims for more chili verde. (I freeze the leftovers. Life is pretty darn good. Grass fed, hormone free cookin...yes indeedy. You know, lard from grass fed etc...has high levels of vitamin D. Good stuff really. It's gotten a bad rap. I have several times compares rendered lard from big ag meat and grass fed etc meat...and very revealing. The big ag lard sets up hard...the grass fed...MUCH softer and more liquid. Must be the difference in our veins too eh?
Sorry I didn't make it here to play last night...darn!

Choc- OMGosh...rain again for you right? And have you recovered fro that awesome ride? An adventure right? haha...and you did it! Woohoo!

Kay- Sorry you are not feeling so well and not sleeping great either. Shoot. when do you get labs back?

Snow- Well...smoke is coming again...darn! You feeling it yet. I am ok...but gonna close up. Now we have some cool night time temps and smoke comes along...bleh.
How's Dad? Hubby? You? Thinking about you. Hope all is ok.

Kits- did you ever find a way to keep the squirrels out?? Did you try the bricks? How's the cabin coming along?

Tar- LOL...I think about you now every night while I am flossing...hahahaha...you thinking about me? How's it going?

Brenda- Class update??? You getting all that rain too?

Dan...is it already getting cold up there in your neighborhood?? I bet baby Olivia and Argus have noticed the changes. Anxiously awaiting your return. I am wondering what you are cookin!

OK...bread almost out of oven, so...onto the list go I!

You got it Kay! She's a super good baby, but it's busy! Hopefully the smoke stays away and you guys get nothing more than haze your way. did you get more moussaka made?

Did I just read that Choc rode 20 miles already! That is fast! Way to go Choc! Don't worry at all about that 5 pounds, it's for a super good cause getting rid of the diet pop and at the rate you are riding, it will melt away! Sounds like a character building ride for sure. Suffering at the time, but once you get home and recover there is that: I just did that! WOOT!

Oh my goodness Mauima, I guess I never realized exactly how much you are able to plant! That is a wonderful variety and my mouth is already watering at all the wonderful recipes you will be able to make with your inevitable bounty.

I picked up my CSA Veg today and some local, hormone free etc. Beef, sausages - I plan to do some cooking myself this week. Yum!

Tar - 22lbs! Wow! Way to go! I have about 20 post-baby pounds to work on - you've inspired me!

Dan - so nice to see you! Ready for fall?

We had an unseasonably cold day here today. 8 degrees celsius. I love Fall, but this was brisk baby!

Kits - enjoy your trip, I bet it will be beautiful!

Ok, I feel like I need to let my hair down a little bit. Get a little crazy and have some fun! Got any ideas Snow? What kind of trouble should we get up to and who wants to join?

Cheers,

Kelly

Baby calling? emoticon Got you running these days, eh K-Po?!? Nice that you got out hiking though, and a blue heron sighting, nice!

We have smoke again on the horizon, the air doesn't really smell like it, but it sure is hazy over the mountains to the south, Larry heard from the Yosemite fire. emoticon

Hi everyone!

Gardening, hiking, biking, good food - yup I'm in the right place, but boy did I miss alot while we were at the cabin.

Got my first hikes in in a loooong while. Wooo! It was exercise! Saw a couple of beautiful Blue Herons.

Oops! Thought I'd have more time to say hi, but it turns out this will be a drive by!

So great to see so many familiar faces!

That's how I usually bike, Choc! I have rarely not had to push my bike uphill at some point during the ride. And 20 miles! Wow, you have worked up quickly! emoticon

Maui, your winter garden sounds great! I'm still trying to get the most out of my tomatoes, they aren't on the "bland diet" menu this week, unless I cook them, but I should be able to enjoy them soon, I hope! Just waiting to hear from the doctor about the labs.

Got back to the gym today, felt a bit like a slug all weekend, didn't go out, didn't go to the gym, just some short walks....but it feels good to work out, so I'm glad I did. Just need to get the routine going again! emoticon

Attempted a 20 mile bike ride today ...did the first 10 in an hour, no real problems... turned around for return trip and THEN REALIZED that it was UPHILL and against the wind going back!!!!! (Ok, I'll admit the hills weren't huge and steep, but it WAS a constant "steady climb" for the first 5 miles of the return trip.... Needless to say I ended up "walking the bike" for parts of those uphill miles) thank goodness the last 5 miles were mostly a steady downhill slope!!!! So final "score" was probably biked 16 or 17 miles and walked the rest... (Note to self... Next time check the "change in elevation" BEFORE planning how many miles to bike!!!!!)

Fly by for me...

Mary- No luck so far in finding my hidden treasure...lol. I moved on to 'other things', maybe I'll remember when I am sleeping. LOL...Good thing its no emergency...

OK..

Tar- Fantastic! 22 lbs! Woohoo!

Kay- sorry about the digestive issue. Not enough Kimchi???

I have been replanting my garden for fall...quite excited really.
Bight lights swiss chard, spinach, turnips, cauliflower,2 kinds leeks, shelling peas, cabbages, lettuces, arugula, sweet potatoes and fingerling potatoes. In a few weeks the garlic goes in, and tomatoes come out, where broccoli, bok choi and more cauliflower will go. Back out go I.

Last morning for the balloons, we had some floating over the house, pretty cool! I got a shot of the "Wicked" balloon landing up the ridge, I'll see if I can post it later.

Since I'm on a "bland" diet, it's been 2 days now coffee-free (also no dairy!). I can't wait for this to be over, and I can eat what I like again, the fridge is full of off-limit food at the moment, not a lot on the menu with this one. I'll manage fine though, will have to get to the store though and find some things I can eat!

Went for a short walk yesterday, it's still good to get out!

Kay - Wow how cool is that?! - I wish the balloons would come here! Hope your labs come back great!

Tar - 22 lbs! Awesome weigh-in!

Choc - sorry to hear Diet Coke has crept back into your life but I can totally relate - hope you find an herbal tea or other drink that makes a good substitute on soda-free days so that maybe you'll be ready to cut back again soon - I use herbal teas, black teas and green teas and love infusing them with fruit - I'm lucky - the hardest part of the day for me is the morning - if I make it through that I seem to be good for the rest of the day - I think this is my 10th day soda free

Maui - How's your hidden treasure hunt going? - I have done that very same thing many times! First thing I do is sit down and think "o.k. if I were me where would I be likely to hide something" then start checking whatever comes to mind! We've had some nice rain showers - hoping you've gotten some rain too!

Enjoy the weekend!

Pura Vida! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Great job Tar! that's a nice Saturday morning surprise, but it couldn't have been that much of a surprise, you've worked for that 22 pounds!

Choc, the herbal tea isn't made with tea leaves at all. And it has no caffeine, which is why I drink it all day long. It's typically made from dried fruit, mint, or other herbs. Just check out the tea aisle you'll see what I mean. Any herbal tea should be caffeine free (the box will say so as well).

Got my labs done this morning, it was a pain to get out of the neighborhood, as it was full of cars and people watching the balloons! Some new balloons this year include a giant boot which I believe is the little old lady who lived in a shoe, and a giant pink cat. Also a big dog balloon and a chili pepper balloon (well a balloon with a bunch of chili peppers on it). And my old favorites, Darth Vadar, the soccer ball, Smokey Bear and all the rainbow balloons. It's pretty cool to be able to watch it all from the deck!

Kay... Thanks for the pep talk :-) .... Not sure if I missed the sweet taste or the "fizz", and since I usually have my "drink treat" late afternoon or early evening, I also need to avoid anything with caffeine or I'd be up all night, so not sure if tea would work even if I found something that didn't have the "tea taste or smell "... (I think my dislike of tea dates back to my childhood when my grandma's "cure" for colds or flu was either warm tea or warm ginger ale... The smell and taste of either is just a turn off for me... Although I do like really cold ginger ale... I guess it's just a mental block on my part, LOL.... On the other hand, grandma's famous chicken soup was and is always one of my favorites! I still remember watching her make homemade noodles for the soup! Yummy!!!!)....

Hey, 14 days is a good streak, Choc, give yourself credit for that! And yes, juices have calories, and they can add up, especially since they aren't all that filling. Could you get lemons and use a squeeze of lemon in your water to flavor it? If it's the "sweet" that you miss, it will get better over time, I think we get so used to super-sweet that just regular gets lost, but it will come back if you give it time. As for the tea, have you tried the herbal tea? It's not "tea" flavored, mostly tastes fruity depending on the kind you get. Celestial Seasonings has some good sampler packs if you want to try that route. I'll make a big container worth and mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with water, I love the flavor of that!

Dan, glad you stopped by! It will be nice to see you on deck more!

Kits, Angel's Landing it a great one to shoot for! I really enjoyed it, and it's steep, but not really that long of a hike. The other stuff we did there was more all day long affairs, it's all good. Bryce is not that big of a park, so you can see a lot of it in a day, just get out and hike down the trails a bit, it's really remarkable to see.

Maui, I ended up cancelling training at the last minute (literally, I went to the gym and told him I just wasn't up to it when we were supposed to start). I've been having a particular GI issue on an off for about 2 months now, so decided it was time to see the doctor. Of course I couldn't get in to the doctor, but I did just get back from the nurse practitioner. She's ordered a bunch of tests, and I have a bunch of specimen jars to fill by tomorrow morning....I'll just leave it at that! Anyway I'm hoping to get some good answers.

Saw the balloons this morning, just love this time of year, when the mornings are cooler, and the balloons are floating in the sky.... emoticon

Maui, nope on eating more food...i measure & weigh everything I eat... think it was the lemonade (even tho organic and diluted with the carbonated water, it still had more calories than the no caffeine diet coke) .... I'm not a tea drinker (will drink it if I "have to" but never enjoyed the taste) so I'm hoping my new "plan" of limiting the soda to just a few times a week is at least a step in the right direction (my "old" diet soda consumption was 1 or 2 a day, every day, so doing just 1 soda no more than 2 or 3 times a week is still "cutting way back" and maybe will lead to eventually cutting it out again altogether) .... At any rate, I definitely do NOT want to start gaining weight again when I'm not even close to my "total weight loss goal"

Hope u find what u hid, LOL.... Been there done that many times!

Hey Deckies!

Kits and Dan! Howdy! So great to have you stop by...you have been missed!

Dan- You have now idea...I cook sometimes...thinking of you. Great news retirement is soon...again. :) Really looking forward to catching up! Dan, Olivia 6 weeks...goes by so fast. Did you see her on fb? In her water flotation jacket?

Kits- I have yet to get to Zion and Bryce...we were almost there when I had a surgery hickup...so its back on my list. I know others have been before. The Angel Landing trail, right!

Choc- OK...14 days super great. weight gain...not so good. So...hmmm...you had added all the bike riding too. You sure you were also eating more? I know when I step up sometimes I get super hungry. Maybe some of the calories were more food too? But yet...juices have tons of sugar, which is why I drink water and flavored teas. Have you tried stevia as a sweatner?

Tar- Great news! The 'brush your teeth early, worked'.
How about night 2?

Brenda- hey...hows class going? Outdoor class? Biking still too? How are the miles going? Fall is such a good time to step up the game as temps cool.

Mary- how's your diet soda challenge going? You can do this! Any tricks you are using?

Kay- OK...thanks for the Vit D update. How'd training go? Hopefully something different than Monday...lol...and here it is the weekend again. Came fast. LOL...for me it seems. Busy week here...I sure know how to make work for myself.

Snow- Hope Dad continues to improve from surgery...a little tricky at his age. And IS hubby feeling OK...as he approaches surgery? Since its so far off still, I am assuming its not an emergency...but hope he's feeling not in pain etc. Thinking about your whole clan. Hugs.

OK...My deal this morning is...we hid something important on ourselves. Spending time, trying to find it...I hate this! HAha...hid it on myself...pretty good, since I cannot find it.
This happen to anyone else?

Sheesh...gotta go back to it...

Kits & Dan.... Hi & welcome back! emoticon

Kits... I love Zion & Bryce... Been many years since I've been there, but hope to get back there one of these days! Have fun on your adventure there!

Ok, confession time... Yesterday I broke my "no diet coke" pledge after 14 days of not drinking any sodas... Was a hot, muggy, sweaty day and I gave in to the need for a "fix"
emoticon
Also discovered that my attempt to substitute organic lemonade mixed with carbonated water obviously wasn't helping my diet... Gained 5 pounds over the 2 weeks of no diet soda in spite of watching what I eat and getting lots of exercise ... I know, I know, diet coke is REALLY BAD Bad bad, ... but so is gaining back 5 pounds ... So for now I'm going to try a compromise and try to limit the soda to only one soda 2 or 3 times a week,(instead of 1 or 2 sodas a day) and drink just plain water on other days (instead of the organic lemonade), and get back to tracking my daily calories and exercise ... Hopefully the compromise "plan" will get me back on track with the weight issue

wow, I've been away so long I didn't recognize the place! Just stopping by to say hello. I'm headed to Zion and Bryce next month and was looking for any must dos besides the popular ones. I'm going to attempt Angel's Landing. I'm so out of shape and weigh more than I have ever weighed in my life but I have to start somewhere! Might as well be somewhere big! lol Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry I haven't been around. Life got overwhelming and some things just had to go.

Good Morning!

Snow, great news about your dad! emoticon And quite the adventure with the van, walking, etc. You certainly got your steps in!

Maui, not sure about the Vitamin D. I haven't been tested since I switched docs (the new doc didn't order that one, IIRC) or maybe the level was OK? I don't think I saw the results of those, just heard they were fine. I'm still taking 1000 units per day of the D.

Choc and Mary emoticon on the soda quit! And the tea mix does sound yummy...I have a Mr Coffee Iced tea maker, and it's going all the time, lately I've been putting in my herbal tea or flavored white tea, it's sooooo good!

Tar, let us know how the new strategies go with your snacking, you just have to try some different things, I know you can beat it!

I have my training appt this morning, trying this out. I'll be in late for work (already cleared it with the boss, hope she remembers!) My legs were pretty sore yesterday from Monday, so we'll see how this goes.

Time to relax and visit.
It's been awhile. Yep, my snorkel water blue is me.

I already saw a shooting star, so it's a perfect night out.
I might just stay awhile. The water , sky and company...yep...

I was thinking about you tonight as I was making supper. My hummers were patrolling and guarding and drinking like crazy at the feeder. This long hot summer has been hard on them I think. I have to fill the feeder every couple days...
Fun little guys and gals.

Thanks for keeping me company tonight.

Kay... Love watching hot air balloons... Our little village just had a hot air balloon festival last week, and a few years ago my sis and I did a hot air balloon ride in Sedona Arizona (complete with champaign breakfast after....mimosas, oh yeah!)

Mary... I think this Sunday will be two weeks for me of no diet coke (or any sodas) ... We can do this!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Snow... AWESOME news about your dad! Happy dance!!!!

Maui... I just got home from a 10 mile bike ride.... My longest so far (granted it was on a fairly level, paved bike trail, but I'm pretty pleased that I'm getting a few more miles in each time I go out... Not as tired and "saddle sore" either, so it must be "progress")

Wood... Bet you're on some kind of adventure!!! Have fun doing whatever you're doing, LOL

OK... gotta go mow the lawn cause tomorrow is supposed to be REALLY hot & humid, and Friday it's supposed to rain again (hmmm, wonder if I could mow on Saturday instead.... Guess I'll have to flip a coin ... Heads I mow today, tails I mow Saturday, LOL).... Now where did I put that special coin that has "tails" on both sides?

Morning Deckies,

Snow- Great news about Dad. Whew...yep, breathe...again...this modern life with all the medical advances, they are a blessing...mostly. But gosh, we have so much to think about with all this information. Well...good news I guess about eh 'ol van. Sure hope your shoulders hold up OK after all that carrying. :) Have a good day with your clients. :) And thinking about the diet coke ...good for you. :)

Mary- Day 9! Woohoo! You are making this happen! You know...as women...this is so important. It affects our bone density, liver function and so much more I am sure. You are feeling younger already I bet! ;) Your tea sounds heavenly.
No rain yet...record drought...sad really. So far (I hate to even say a word about it) but the fire season has not been as bad as last year so far. So I hope it continues, therefore protecting the air. Many trees in my area are looking quite sad from lack of water. Many look to be dieing even. :(

Kay- Ahhhhhhhh...balloon weekend. How beautiful. Will you take pics? Jogging down your hill sounds good. Hehe...
Hey question...I remember back a coupe years you had low Vit D, took an initial high does then moved onto a maintenance dose. I am reading mixed reports about the target value. Some say it should be 35, some 40, some say we should really target the high end of range to feel good (Especially with autoimmune disease like me) Any thoughts?? How often are you getting tested?
(Apparently there is quite a link between Vit D and Hashimotos Thyroid...hmmm.)

Tar- Did you try brushing and flossing early???

Choc- how many miles today?? I am heading out myself...gonna try a lap! Here goes...hopefully my bottom holds up. Not going too far...lol. Gotta take it really slow!

Snow- Hot tub sounds like a plan for tonight. I am reworking my garden boxes, this week. Planted beets and carrots last week and my baby beets are already up! But my hamstrings and back are telling me hello. Hot tub it is!

Anyone else joining us tonight??

Hi everyone, thanks for the well wishes for my Dad, the positive thoughts helped! He gets that darned catheter out today and the Dr called him yesterday with the good news that is was as he suspected, part of the prostrate had grown onto his bladder...no cancer! I feel so blessed as does he I know! And my poor mom can breathe again, phew...

Today is a busy day at the salon, might make it to Zumba tonite if Im lucky. emoticon

Yesterday started out kind of odd... I went to steps class and wanted to get home to wash my van that I just had repaired (so I can sell it! ) and I got in it and it sounded funny and felt like maybe I flooded it trying to start it a few times. So I decided to walk home - which gave me some miles of head start for the hike I had planned after washing the van. But I tell you- my gym bag was the thing! So heavy! But I figured as long as I kept switching shoulders and arms, I wouldn't strain my back. Seemed to have worked fine, and I enjoyed seeing the neighborhood, I live maybe 3 miles from gym. My gal pal picked me up and we hiked a couple of hours, came home to do my books, banking... then hubby and I went to gym to get van and of course it started up for him. I chose to wash my new car instead, and flew off to the gym for a zumba followed by a spin class. Needless to say, I was starving last night and thirsty too.

So Im glad to just spend the day doing hair, more upper body that way.
Im still just in the "thinking phase " of quitting my diet coke habit..... you guys are doing so good!!

Have a great day all, Im going to be in the hot tub tonite, do I have any takers to join me??

Happy Wednesday!

We finally got some rain early this morning...I sleep hard so I didn't hear a thing but it was nice to wake to some puddles in the driveway!

Kay great job walking to work! emoticon

Maui I'm on day 9 soda free...Choc how many days for you? I make a half gallon of iced tea every morning...this morning I added some crushed tangerines and muscadine grapes, stevia leaves and basil leaves...pretty tasty!

Brenda sounds like you have some exciting nights planned!

Tar...when I eat thoughtfully during the day (lots of veggies, nothing processed and very few grains) the cravings seem to stay away...it's when I slip up and eat something unhealthy that I end up with cravings later...

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Happy Hump Day! Walking to work again for me....it is a good exercise, especially if I can work up to a jog here and there (and I get there a little bit quicker!)

Saw the balloon trailers starting to come in yesterday, it's the GREAT RENO HOTAIR BALLOON races this weekend....I love this event. It's so cool to see the balloons floating over the neighborhood. emoticon

Brenda, nice getting that streak going! Keep it up!

Maui, fresh bread, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Hey deckies...

OK....Snow- You sure have a lot 'on your plate', again...hugs...love. Hope DAd is recovering smoothly and the labs come back soon and with no worry. Sorry too about your friends' daughter...so hard, I cannot imagine. Glad your yard is such a happy place...peace giving eh? More hugs my friend.

Tar- Welcome back! Great to see you! And ya know...KAy has some really good night time snack advise. I actually do the 'close the kitchen rule...no food after 7 m here. And I also brush my teeth ASAP and then... I would not want to have to brush and floss again...saves me often. :)

Choc...lol... Popcorn and the movies...hahaha... ;)
Great job though! What day is this???? 10-12??? You are making this happen!!!!!!!! Woohoo!
And all those miles...wow...look at you go!

Mary- How's your soda journey coming???

Brenda- Woohoo! You and hubby! Good for you! OK...Day 3 today! Great news!
You overnight with you niece sounds like it was hysterically fun. Outdoor day for the Master Naturalist...geology in your area should be quite interesting. :) And biking miles too!

Kay-walking to work...heheh...what a great workout! Ready for supper when you get home, after that hill. :)

Bread is out of oven, garden chores done, walked 3 miles...and now off to errands.
Lots of great reports here on exercise! Woot!
Go Team!!!

Become the change you wish to see in the world.

My husband and I both battle the nighttime cravings. I have been very good this long weekend and avoided all nighttime snacking on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights! This must be a new record for me. I will admit that the heat impacts this-if it's really humid, and it has been, I feel less inclined to snack.

I didn't see any heat lightning all Summer, but last night, there it was! Weird Summer weather indeed. I think I'm ready for cool Fall nights.

Snow, I hope for negative results for your Dad and that your husband's surgery goes well. My thoughts also go out to your friend on the loss of her granddaughter-things aren't supposed to happen that way.

Tar - Welcome back!

Kay & Choc - Thanks for the tips on nighttime drinks to offset the snacking!

Friday night we had my 3 year old niece over for backyard camping, so much fun! We ate way too much at a Food Truck event in York but then worked it off on a 7 mile bike ride yesterday. I look forward to getting more miles in. I have a date planned with a friend to bike again on Thursday night. Saturday night is our first outdoor day and it's on Geology for the PA Master Naturalist program-I'm excited!

I hope you all have a wonderful and powerful week ahead!

Night time cravings are a bear, Tar! I had a goal I was tracking once called "close the kitchen after dinner" and I would mark a point for every day I was able to do that. If you are a reward guy, you could give yourself a small reward for a 7 day streak, and see how it goes. Brushing my teeth right after dinner helps too, and maybe having a glass of water or herbal tea instead of a snack may help, especially if you are thirsty rather than hungry. Try a hobby that keeps your hands busy, that really helps (especially if it's something you don't want to get your hands dirty and do). And look for the trigger for the night eating, is it watching TV? Try reading a book instead, or going for a walk with your family....change the trigger and you can change the habit!

I'm all ready to walk to work the next couple of days! Should be nice... emoticon

emoticon resisting the soda at the movies, Choc! emoticon and movies do kind of go together....and you don't want to give up everything all at once! Let the no-soda habit sink in good before you move on to the next one! And nice miles on the bike too!

Snow, hope your dad's results come back good, nice that you can be there for him!

Mary, still finding a tomato here and there, lots of green ones still!

Tar, welcome back! Congrats to your DW, and what goals are you working on that you want us to help you with?

The ST went well today, I finished just before the gym closed at 1. Had to find a different squat to do, since someone was using the squat rack, and I knew if I waited I'd be pushing it on the time, so I hopped on the squat machine, I can squat a LOT more on there than with the barbell....guess that's how it goes.

Mary... Thanks about the biking... Working hard at it... Did 7 miles today, hope to get in a 10 miler before the end of this week depending on weather... Yup I'm still hanging in there with no soda... Was tempting today cause I went to the show with my sis and a friend and I have always ordered popcorn & soda for movies... Did the popcorn (no wisecracks Wood, LOL) but skipped the soda! :-) I'm still substituting carbonated water mixed with a little organic lemonade for my "fix" at home... Seems to satisfy my need for "bubbles" and a little bit of sweet drink (it's gotta be healthier than soda, right?)

Marty... Welcome back!!!!!! Good to hear fro you!

Happy Labor Day!

I've done some jogging the last 2 mornings but it's too hot to do much in the afternoons except a little gardening...arugula still looking good, basil is great but peas are looking puny - I think it's just to hot for those little seedlings...I'll try again in a few weeks when they won't have to battle triple digit heat indexes...

Choc - way to go with your biking!!! you're making a lot of progress quickly!! I've now made it a full week with no soda - keeping a pitcher of cold unsweetened tea in the fridge to have as my "go to" when I get a craving...you still winning the soda battle? I bet you are!!!

Kay - hope you're still finding some tomatoes! Good luck with your ST!

Maui - Thanks for the yummy breakfast!!! Have you gotten any rain yet? I hope so. It's been a couple of dry weeks here...skies just got darker so I'm hoping for at least a shower...

Kelly - zucchini lasagna sounds great! Have some really nice CSA zucchini...I think I'll do the same!

Snow - I hope your dad is doing great! My mom is 87 too...she loves college football games and goes to games almost every weekend...this is a busy time of year for her! Harry (our little dog) had his girlfriend Daisy Belle stay with us for a week this summer - they are my profile pick - they might look like they're holding hands but truthfully they spent very little time together except when I was watching TV and they both wanted to lay on the loveseat by me...but it was a nice photo to text to Daisy's "mom"!

Wishing you all pleasant temparatures and gentle showers! emoticon

Pura Vida!

emoticon Happy Labor Day to all! Wow, September 1st and Im hearing about all this rain and hail forcasted in the Midwest etc.... we are doing yard stuff and taking dips in the pool emoticon as it is too hot do do much without cooling off in between! emoticon Our yard looks amazing, my son is mowing emoticon as we speak, emoticon Im doing some startings in pots of ferns for next year, trimming off the spent vines of my cantalopes, leaving 4 on the vine that should be ripe soon. emoticon Tomatoes are doing great, what can I say?

My dad had surgery this last week, so Im thinking of taking a ride to go check on the P's.... he had a tumor taken off his bladder, hoping the lab tests show negative ...Dad will be 87 this year but he acts and looks 70. My friends granddaughter passed away this week, so there was a funeral....its been a crazy time... my hubby gets surgery on the 23rd.... um, seems like there was somethings else, but cant recall. Oh- Choc... I forgot my dentist appointment for my teeth cleaning, I was on a hike when the reminder text came in.... oh well... time to reschedule! I thought about you, my hike was way better than going to the dentist emoticon

Kisses to Olivia for me too!! And Kay, your recipes sound so tempting! Im making my homemade chicken and rice "cup cakes" for the dogs right now. We have a visiting Boxer- the dog kind that is, her name is Bella and she is a darling dog!! She looks almost identical to the one we had for 10 years, KC emoticon . She does certain things that reminds me of those times, and she brings me to tears nearly. My dogs on the other hand are not liking their overnight guest .... Breezy accepts Bella for the most part, but Dude emoticon - well, we keep him at the other end of the house or in his kennel...there would be a fight for sure.

OK- gotta get outside, Its a good weekend to just stay home!
Hope you all are having a nice time -enjoy the day off!

Ooooh, fancy Labor Day Breakfast there Maui, thanks!

I've got a London broil in the crockpot, with yukon gold potatoes, onions, carrots, should be a nice dinner (and lunches for work, my freezer supply is quite low!) I got an eggplant at the store as well, will be making moussaka later this week (or at least that's the current plan!) since I ate up what I had frozen for lunch last week.

Larry's putting together a table for his saw. I may try to hit the gym later (not too much later, they close at 1PM), then I can just walk in tomorrow. I feel like I've been slacking off on my ST, but really it was just that one rest day, although I suppose I "should" have gone in Saturday or Sunday too. Not going to fret over that....just start back today!

Happy September everyone!

Brunch is served!
Fresh pastured eggs, with a 'touch' of creme. Sauteed fresh figs with roasted walnuts, bacon and chevre, a drizzle of honey.

Enjoy.

A rainy day here which means time spent in the sunroom now that the roof has been repaired. Boy, did I miss drinking a coffee in there while watching the rain on the garden.

Mauima - that ouzo was so good, I slept like a baby! And Greek salad one of my all time favourites! Extra Feta for me please!

Hi Kay! Glad to hear you are as fit as ever.

Choc - congrats on the ride and the positive spirit!

Zuchini lasagne prepped and more zucchini grated to make bread tomorrow - yum!

Kisses delivered to Miss Olivia, and now it sounds like I better feed her!

Happy addictions, no more soda, bike rides, Greek food!
What a great weekend is right!

I made a huge greek salad , enough for everyone. Garden cukes, tomatoes, mint, onions and feta. Summer food is the best!

Choc- gotta say, you are on a roll with your bike riding. You rock!

Kelly- Hehe...yup...it had been a VERY long time since I had a date with ouzo...but you know, here on the deck we can do anything eh? Please kiss Olivia for me.

Kay- I was wondering...that bike ride did sound like quite the adventure. Glad you feel recovered by now.
Yes...nothing like a summer garden fresh tomato.

Happy Sunday!

read through the posts...just have not had time to get to the deck recently. And finally this morning feeling recovered from last Sunday's bike ride, I must admit that took it out of me!

May go out today for a ride or hike (not sure which I'll feel like just yet), should be a nice day for it.

I just finished up the last of the venison moussaka I had made a few weeks ago, and it was sooooo good, and now all this Greek-fest talk has me wanting more. Larry wasn't a fan (it had cinnamon in it) but I think if I made it without the cinnamon he might come around.

Also picked a bunch of apples from the neighbors tree the other day, so I'm thinking of making apple muffins, they are pretty buggy from the looks of them (the apples, not the muffins!) so I needed to find a recipe that would accommodate not so pretty fruit!

K-Po, glad you found your way back to the deck, and congrats! She is a darling!

Choc, good for you for enduring the dentist chair and the bike seat!

All the garden talk has me needing to go check my paltry tomato plants....I did get another 4 the other day, and they do taste great!

Just got back from a 5 1/2 mile bike ride on back roads near my house... My first ride that involved some hills and gravel instead of a fairly level groomed bike trail ... Did have to get off and walk the bike up a couple hills, but I still feel like I'm "making progress" at "relearning" how to ride a bike (whoever invented the old saying that you never forget how to ride a bike didn't have me in mind, LOL).... Anyway, was a good ride, and I definitely worked up a sweat (muggy 80 degree morning helped with that!)... Enjoying a hot cup of coffee right now... Anyone care to join me with a coffee break on the deck?

Oooooo Greek Fest - I am a huge fan of Baklava! Honey and nuts - yes please!

Hrm...addictions - what a delicious list - sun, garden, bike, coffee, outdoors, travel...if only my income supported my addictions in the lifestyle to which I'd like to become accustomed! emoticon

Gorgeous day here today, sat on the deck, reading a book, holding the baby while the birds fluttered at the feeder and Argus barked at his bone - that's the good stuff for sure!

Eggplant parmigiana for dinner with CSA veg. Love this time of the year!

Been a long while since I've had Ouzo, Mauima, I'll give it a shot! (ha ha).

Wood: hot tub addiction is obvious, surely you have a more intriguing admission? emoticon

Hot tube bound - wonder which constellations we can see tonight?

Interesting how we all have our addictions. Surprised how many of you share the soda one. Never been a BIG soda drinker. Did Diet Cokes for a while, but didn't like what I was reading about them so I very seldom have one any more.

Busy, busy busy time! However, a little time in the hot tub is just what I need. Wonder if I'm addicted to the hot tub?

Life is good!

Mary... Yup on still no Coke (or any kind of soda) for a whole week now... Even resisted it at a little cafe we ate at after biking (glad they had lemonade on the menu... I know that has lots of sugar but at least not all the chemicals that soda has... When I have lemonade at home I use "organic" lemonade and dilute it with carbonated water...now I'm using about 2/3 water to 1/3 lemonade & it's still pretty tasty)

Maui... I tried making infused water with strawberries, didn't like it as much as the lemonade & carbonated water mix... Maybe I just didn't make the infused water correctly? (Followed a "recipe" I found online ... Decided I'd rather just eat the berries instead of putting them in water)
emoticon

Doing better on the bike... Got a REALLY cushy bike seat now that is SO much "better on my bottom" than the original bike seat was (you'd think with all my "natural padding" I wouldn't need a cushy bike seat, LOL)

Greek Fest on the deck tonight sounds AWESOME! Since we're on the deck there's no calories if we eat "baklava" (Not sure of that spelling???)

Hiya everybody!

Nice to meet you aster! Sounds like you have a wonderful garden! Mine is quite modest. This year we have tomatoes, cukes, zukes, onions and carrots. Our veggie CSA tops up everything we don't grow.

Choc well done on your bike ride! Looks like you and me both are breaking in our cycling shorts! Well done on the pop. That was a very hard one for me to break. Diet pepsi was my brand, "My name is Kelly. It been 10.5 months since my last drink."

- you're doing awesome!

Ugh dentist, I feel for you! I'm terrified too! I find listening to my iPod helps. Hope it goes well for you! (just saw that you made it - woooo, laughing gas!)

Mr. Sand - thanks for the congrats, Nice to meet you! Darn that voice, right? Lately mine has been talking about ice cream. Bah! Keep fighting the good fight. I do pellegrino too. I bought a Soda Stream so I can fizz up my water anytime I have a craving.

Mauima what are the fall garden plans? Up north here the season is winding down. Canning, blanching etc. in full effect. I love this time of the year!

Read Wheat Belly and am starting "In defense of Food" - have you read them?

Off to take Olivia and Argus for a walk - see you in the hot tub tonight!

Cheers,

Kelly

Happy Friday everyone!

Maui, Aster and Choc - thanks for the encouragment as I finally tackle my addiction to Coke Zero! Today was a little easier emoticon maybe because I know y'all have my back! emoticon

Choc I'm so glad your dentist was so nice to you - I know you're glad to have that behind you! Is your quest to lose the soda still going great?
emoticon emoticon emoticon

Maui - You are lucky - but those wonderful veggies wouldn't be on your table if you didn't work hard for them! What will you be planting in your fall garden? We haven't had rain now in more than a week so I'm wishing for some emoticon too!

Aster - Happy trading in Iowa and I hope you get that kayak trip in soon!

I've still got Maui's moussaka on my mind! Anyone up for a mini Greek fest on the deck this weekend? I'll bring paleo pita, grapes and ouzo! Stin Ygia Sou!!! emoticon

Morning deckies!

Aster- LOL...welcome Orion! Maybe we will get some rain. (Sorry everyone else) Hehe...Corn to Iowa. You trading? Sure hope you get a yak trip in.

Choc- Well done you! Finding good substitutions is so crucial. Make the sub a treat...Fruit infusion waters work too. Maybe research those...cucumber water is soooooooooooooo refreshing. Melon waters, (Lots of melon and herbs right now)
And great news you survived the dentist. On advantage we outdoor, hiking, hardworking folks have is lung capacity...breathe deep to get that gas working...lol...then you're good to go.

Mary-OK...good for you too. Giving up any soda may be one of the best things you can do for yourself. Living cleaner is a one food at a time task. But soda's have Soooo many health associated , a big one for us ladies...bone health. We cannot afford any loss. So, good for you! And you have a 'Lose the soda buddy'. :) Yep...farm to table food most nights here. I know lucky us. Fun you get to try and garden year round.

Kay- Have you recovered??? Training going ok? And another weekend is here...what does Larry have on his adventure list ?

Wood- LA...OK...yes....us west coasters do think of our LA...lol. So, what you up tooo???

OK...much to do out back...preparing my fall garden.
See you all later!

Choc, congrats on surviving the dental work. Dental health is so important for overall health. Mary, I have to agree with Choc about giving up soda. Soda is pretty rare around here. Maybe cut it out as any everyday thing and allow one as a treat once a week? Thou weekend we're bringing corn to Iowa. That seems backward, but I guess we ate only one county awY from Iowa. Tomatillos too, but since either WI nor IA is famous for tomatillos, it's less weird. Weneed to schedule a kayaking day now that school starts next week. Orion was in the eastern sky yesterday when I woke up at 4 a.m. Warm as it's been, winter is coming.

Mary... Stick to it on giving up the sodas... I "usually" only drank 1 diet coke a day, so that's probably easier to give up than if I was drinking more than that each day... Hang in there , you can do it!!!! I've made it almost a whole week with no DC ... Found out I like really cold carbonated water with about 1/4 cup of organic lemonade mixed in to make me "think" I'm drinking soda (mind games help LOL)

"Survived " the dentist... 2 1/2 hours "in the chair"... Replaced a crown and did a filling... Thank goodness for LOTS AND LOTS of "laughing gas" and a really nice dentist and his staff! (I am such a chicken when it comes to dental work!!!!)

emoticon Hi everyone!

Wow! Only 4 days since I've been here and I've missed a bunch!

Maui - I'm hoping you're right and I have year round gardening possibilities...I'm going to give it a shot - my tiny arugulas look happy so far! I may find that summer is the most difficult growing season here. Farm to table moussaka day - YUM emoticon

Kay - 9 1/2 hours of biking and scary adventure - I bet that beer did taste amazing! emoticon

Brenda - can't wait to hear more about your class emoticon - my son is taking AP biology and he thought he would stump us with some botany questions the other night - I think he was shocked that we remembered our phloem and our xylem and knew what ATP stands for (but we had forgotten the word "transparation" so he got us there!)

Choc - oh my goodness we are in the same boat but your is riding a little higher than mine! I gave up Coke Zero last Thursday...but Sunday I had a Diet Dr. Pepper (I walked to the grocery store so the voice in my head told me that made it not so bad - evil voice! emoticon )...then on Monday I was at my mom's house and I had some CZ's in her fridge so the voice said it was o.k. since I wasn't buying any new ones...but since then I've been "clean"...tried Pellegrino today for my "fizz"...didn't really do it for me...I eat and drink so clean except those dang sodas...but I was drinking 2 or 3 a day so it's time to give them up... emoticon ...& way to go with your biking!!!! emoticon emoticon

Tay - emoticon Look forward to hearing about your trip!

Wood - That sounds like the perfect one hour fishing trip! emoticon I'll check out that video soon...must be incredible!

Kelly - Congrats on your sweet baby girl emoticon you're going to have so much fun!!!

Aster - Congrats on your bountiful harvest! emoticon Can't wait to hear more about your farm!

Hope everyone else out there is doing great too!

Pura Vida!

Mary

Did a 6 mile bike ride last night... A bit easier than my. "Maiden voyage" last Sunday considering I haven't been on a bike in over 4 years... Hoping its a sign it will keep getting easier the more I practice (at least this time I didn't feel like I needed "training wheels LOL)

Heading out for a dentist appointment (I am absolutely TERRIFIED of dental work!!! Would rather swim with sharks than sit in a dentist chair!!!! ) getting a crown replaced and a filling... Hope they give me LOTS of drugs. & laughing gas so I don't even know I'm there ! I'm such a whimp!!!!!)

Gotta go... Be back later.... Choc

I tried to post on Saturday and it didn't go. Maui, I thought of you right away when I heard about the earthquake.

Kay, I'm glad you found your way. That was a VERY long day of bike riding.

Kelly, we haven't really met, but I'm so pleased that you're enjoying your time with your baby.

Wood, I can't believe you garden is wrapping it up so soon. We're getting ridiculous numbers of beans and cucumbers. Plenty of tomatoes and watching for eggplants big enough to harvest. We need to pull most of the corn this weekend and I just planted two kinds of kale for fall. Time to dig more potatoes and all the storage onions. Sunday, I harvested 8 cups of basil once I had the stems off and if we keep getting enough rain it'll be like that every few days until hard frost. We'll probably put up a hoop house for spinach and chard in the winter. Holding off on digging sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts aren't ready yet either. We're probably getting barn cats since mice destroyed the wiring of our old beater snowplow pickup truck.

Hi Snow, Choc and everyone else. Time to read and go to sleep.

Kelly - It's wonderful to see you back on the deck! Wow! 5 weeks already! Before you know it she'll be dating! Actually you won't believe how fast that happens! Enjoy every day and be amazed in the miracle that is her!

Maui - Yep I've watched that pool video several times myself. It's just so much like I picture the deck!!! ...and that grotto behind the waterfall certainly has me in mind!

Snow - Hiking much?

Only had an hour to fish before dark, but it was an amazing time. Blue heron, green heron, large book, ducks, kingfisher, an eagle, and oh yeah, lots of fish as well!

Life is good!

Kelly! Hi! Great to see you stop by.
Sweet baby already 5 weeks! Like I said , one lucky baby. emoticon
New roof is going to feel great. No leaky roof ...whew! How do you feel today after that trainer ride?

Wood- I yet again watched the pool video again. Love that pool. Did you see Ben Frien behind?? And ya know...I see you trying to hide behind the grotto as we jump off the waterfall. So many places to hide. hahaha...

Choc- Good for you...and let's make a plan. Every time you feel temped, lets have a water slide run. OK?

Hello everybody!

Wood, Mauima, Choc, Kay, Snow - so nice to be back here and "hear" your familiar voices in the posts.

Looks like some new great faces as well that I need to catch up with.

Seems as if everyone is holding the outdoor/fitness flag high!

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to catching up.

Baby is 5 weeks old and we have a bit of a rhythm going, of course the first rule of babies is change!

Roofers are here today, so the worry of roof leaks will soon be behind us and the exterior is one step closer to my "vision" with changing the shingles from brown to grey.

First time back on the bike trainer yesterday in 10 months! I was so happy to be back on my old friend. Otherwise, walking and yoga have made the bulk of my exercise lately. The weather has been beautiful though, so Olivia is already well-indoctrinated to the outdoors!

It may be midday, but it feels a bit like fall here, so I am heading over to the hot tub - anyone care to join?

Cheers,

Kelly
