Guess I'll play nurse emoticon and hand out throat lozenges, emoticon cups of tea, and that lemon/cayanne concoction of Hobbes, plus maybe a little chicken soup from that crockpot emoticon over in the corner of the deck to all the folks that are under the weather...or anyone who just want's a cup of tea and a bowl of soup!

Back to work today for me! I'm hitting the gym tonight since I can't walk in with the cake! And the cake still smells really good....very warming spices in there.

Glad you got the snowblower fixed up Wood, Youtube is a wonderful thing for "how-to" instructions, isn't it?

Yay! I got through a whole night without being sick once!!!! Feeling good this morning. HOWEVER, we've got plans (have had them for some time) to go out for lunch and then to a big musical production with some friends. I'll take it easy. I promise! ....and of course it's supposed to be snowing again for our way home! Just another little Canadian Clipper so it shouldn't be a big deal. Will definitely take the SUV though.

That big snow storm missed us totally. I'm glad because my snow blower was broken down. Now back in business! Watched a YouTube video that a guy posted on how to repair the same problem on his and it worked!!!!! Sure was cold working on it yesterday though. Even inside my garage it was 28!

4 here this morning!

Now I hope the rest of you that are hit with various maladies feel better as well. How about if we're all healthy for the weekend again!

I even went to choir practice last evening! I love the stuff our director challenges us with - real upbeat 4 part harmony that just feels really good singing. One of the new songs featured us basses with a lot of that really down deep notes that are a lot of fun but almost lower than I can get to! I know, most of you think I can get pretty low at times!

Hey, once again!
Life is good!

Get well wishes for everyone fighting "the bug" .... This winter sure has been rough as far as colds, flu, and other illnesses! Hope everyone is back on their feet soon!

Busy day ahead for me...(nothing exciting, just lots of housework "catching up" to do) hopefully all the "chores" will help me burn off the extra calories from last weekend's visit to my friend's cabin "up north"... Will see if that works when I weigh in tomorrow for LMS challenge (fingers crossed)

Think we need a first aide kit on deck with tissues and vic's vapor rub, a crockpot with some homemade chicken soup! It was suggested even the volunteers at the schools get their flu shot, but it doesn't make me a immune to anything else floating around in the air!

I like tea......never though about it being used in a cake. I love going over to folks' house when Mom is in one of her baking moods. She can make you drool just smelling the aroma of the house.....

May tomorrow be a better day, a fresh start!

But it doesn't sound too MUCH like
A 'Happy Hour' out on the deck this week...

Thinking of those of your there huddling up to try and stay warm. Hope you have enough fire wood and the electricity holds. Drive Safe

For others from the deck with colds, headaches, stomach flu and mean viruses. Thinking of you too..

I've read over things just briefly. I'm working this week while battling something. Went to bed last night just after dinner at 6:15pm. I washed dishes, brushed my teeth and folded myself into my covers and then slept soundly all through the night.

I've been eating what I feel like.. & not feeling like exercising so we'll see what the scale reveals on Friday. I have been loyal although to using the Spark People Food Tracker and have logged everything in. This is a good habit to keep.

Be Good to you & you & you! We can get through this rough time to the other side.

Healing & Warmth to you & Love to those that have lost special people in their lives.

Keep Going emoticon Hobbes

Recovering from the blizzard! Most of the state of Maine shut down for the last two days. Except my area! We got to go home a bit early yesterday, but that is it!

I teach music and see 400+ students each week. There has been a lost of flu and respiratory infections going around and it has finally caught up to me! By the looks of it, many of you are experiencing the same! Chins up friends, this too shall pass (hopefully quickly)!!

If it is to be, it is up to me!

push the fluids, and BRAT foods, Wood! Hope you feel better soon! It sucks when you relapse like that.

Larry feels the same way you do about the kombucha! I like it though, I use a coconut chai black tea for the tea, and it tastes quite good!

I have my chai tea cake in the oven, making it for a coworker that is moving to Southern CA on Friday. It smells so good, I used a vanilla chai tea for this one!

Not sure what else I'll be up to today, I think I'm going to switch my workouts around, since today would normally be Pilates, but since I didn't go to work, I skipped that (and I'm a little sore from Monday). So I think I'll go for a walk today, maybe Pilates tomorrow, and run in to work on Friday....just gotta think ahead!

Yep, Larry's a goofball all right, and I'm trying to wrangle my patient into following doctor's orders, it's not easy! emoticon But I'll get him handled!

Not sure what the gasket is for, are you making sauerkraut or kimchi? Anyway, better luck with the gasket next time!

Snow, glad you are feeling better!

Wood, you too! Still not out of the woods, but getting there?

Hobbes, a lot on your plate! Nice that you were able to get a run in with all that! Good luck with your applications, hope you hear back soon!

We have rain today, I was hoping to get out for a run myself, I'll have to see how Larry is getting along, and play it by ear. At the very least I should be able to get in my yoga/meditation.

So great to hear everyone 'on the mend'. Great work everyone!
Love the honesty here...we can be real with our deck buddies, heal and move on...back to adventure! Woot...

Wood- I too am Humbled with the support this team offers...so good to know the water is going in. Is it time for the 'white rice with no fat; cure? Honest...it works. Big bowl, plain white rice. Its easy for your body to digest without the need for extra digestive enzymes and acid. Try it! :)

Snow and Hobbes- out for a run and hike...dance and more...yay! So glad you are both feeling better!

Mary- haha...gasket...yep...I have the book to my hubby to have him help me make sure I did it right. Not he Loves all the fermented foods. Maybe that's the trick...have them partner with you! And to bed early for you tonight right?

Kay- lol...biohazard signs...haha...Great news to hear tummy is 'coming along' with healing. Whew. ...hehe...Larry, what agoof with the signs!
Hope his surgery goes smoothly. He lucky to have you.

Me- Good day...lots on my list.
Hello to everyone else. that I have missed.

Maybe its time for a gathering in the hot tub since everyone is feeling better.
Mary...I'll be there!

I have so much catching up to do! I have read everything and I love all the positive vibes here (even with all the talk about poisoning!). Thanks again for the "get better" posts, the emails, texts and goodies. The support I receive from this group is amazing and I'm humbled by it!

Last evening I thought I was finally through with the worst of this and I guess I really am, BUT it still hangs on! Although I haven't needed my bucket for 36 hours or so, I found out at 3 AM I still need to stay close to a bathroom!!! Still feeling better!

Yes, Maui, liquids are staying down.

Peace!

Whoops!! Starting over with my fermenting...removed the contraption from the jar & found no gasket...thought I followed directions but I failed!..found the gasket in the fridge with the lid waiting for the finished product...tasted a couple of small forkfuls before I realized my goof....if you don't hear from me again hubby was right & I poisoned myself ... emoticon I think I'm ok!

I need to relax so tonight I'll be hanging out around the tropical waterfall ...may be a few extra bubbles...sorry!

Pura Vida! & emoticon

Wow, so glad to see the deck SUCH a busy place. I've been working on Graduate school applications & my last one completed just this morning (now the wait). I ran a short distance today for the first time since I got hit with that awful stomach bug. Knocked the wind out but I'm back up & went to work today. Afraid I'll have to catch up later. Know thoughts of you are rambling around in my head. Be back on deck as soon as I can to try and catch up. Crazy busy this week.

I have biohazard signs drawn on my kombucha bottles, because Larry is afraid I will poison him with my tea! emoticon He also blamed it for my digestive issues....silly man!

Maui, my tummy has been better lately, probably the probiotic pills finally hunkering down and taking effect! It's not perfect, but, then it never was. I still may get into a GI at some point, but I'm not in a rush at the moment. Glad you got through the services this weekend and bonded with your friends son, I'm sure that meant a lot to the family.

Ladybug, bouquets of parsley! Love it! The only things I'm growing right now are herbs, I killed the sage, but the rosemary and thyme are hanging in there, and I have 2 new TJ's basil plants making our salads happy these days!

KB, we live in the desert, but it's the high desert, still very dry, but cold as well! We have a lot of rocks in our landscaping! (and plenty of bare dirt too.)

I'm off work for a couple of days (sure seems like I say that a lot!) taking Larry in for cataract surgery. I'm not sure how he feels about it, but I'm sure he'll be happy to see again! emoticon

Thanks KB. I am lucky here with weather for sure...but the water is a big issue here. Drought looking serious enough I may not be able to plant my spring garden...lol. Without water I may have to rethink things.

I have never lived in a desert area...Although Snow and I both dream of packing it up and moving to Hawaii...lol. Tropical breezes, warm water for me.
(This is why there is a waterfall at the end of our deck pool...tropical waterfall it is...perfect water temps and all. :)

Ladybug- LOL...domestically productive and parsley bouquets! ...Love it. Sounds like you had one great day!

Ah, yes, gardening. I went out and pruned my parsley yesterday. I planted a whole huge garden and the parsley is the only thing thriving! Even my basil died (maybe overtaken?). But I pruned enough to create 3 bouquets. I gave one to my friends in the front house for always providing me with awesome parsley recipes (seriously, I pruned this stuff 2 weeks ago!), I'm giving one to my friend who clipped some fresh greens from his garden for me recently, and the last bouquet is sitting on my kitchen counter. I just keep noshing leaf after leaf, it's so good!

Had a domestically productive day yesterday - 5 loads of laundry and a bunch of dishes, flipped my mattress. But all after sleeping the day away! I didn't roll out of bed until about 3PM. It was glorious! I need to get a bunch of reading done this week, though. Falling behind in class already! No bueno.

Thoughts and love and hugs and strength going out to everyone. We're all here to pull everyone through together.

I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others as much as I can.” – H.H. Morning my sweet deck friends,

Hugs , messages and lots of love. I do so appreciate all of you. Thank you. This weekend is behind me. I try not t cry in public...lol...its just not pretty, not that I am vain...but goodness...I cried. Life. Good tears. My gal pal who's service was yesterday has 4 boys. One had been the one with me for weeks caring for his mom. He closed the service yesterday and spoke directly to me with thanks and more, for what I had done for his mom. That ended me. Anyhow...he and I hugs for what seemed like forever, but was good. I think, his mom chose me to help nurse her, so I would bond with this amazing son. She was parenting to the very end. I just realized it yesterday. Today I can breathe a bit...went for long walk this morning...now sippin my coffee with you amazing friends, here on the deck. Tie for healing the heart a bit.
Thank you my friends for holding my hand...I am feeling the love.

Snow- I love the sounds of this garage make over! Very nice. Thank you for your kindess.

Kay- I know...too nice a weather. Thank you too. Hey...how's your digestion these days??? Better? (Mary and I were talking fermentation...etc...reminded me of you.

Wood- My goodness my friend...this is terrible. So sorry. Big big hugs! Are you staying hydrated???? All my mothering instincts kicking in...lol...just sayin. Wish we could help.. Luv has not caught it has she?

Mary- You too...Thank you...guess I will make something with my cabbage today, but not gonna send it Wood's way...not what he needs. And btw...my husband had to get over the idea I would poison myself with fermentation too...lol. So far...I am good...better than before!

OK...I am heading out to the garden today , watering and feeding..spring seems like its here...ack!. Ground some Organic Non GMO corn, making polenta today for a Polenta Sarda tonight for supper...comfort food...

Thanks for being my buddies...Life is good.

Become the change you wish to see in the world.

Nice pics Mary, especially from a phone! Too bad those wetland creatures weren't more cooperative, but it sounds like you get out there quite often, so I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunity to get more!

Wood, take care! emoticon Maybe head down to the crick and soak your toes in the water for a bit? Listen to the tree frogs chirp away, and pretend it's the sultry days of summer, and no one has a care in the world? Maybe even a soft breeze, and a hammock swaying gently...

Today I had the time to follow Maui's wise advice and take a deep breath...nice long slow paddle...attempting photography inspired by Wood...so many fowl...but I need a Go-Pro!...Photos from a kayak with a phone as your camera & you're against the tide so when you set your paddle down you're drifting away from your subject are quite tricky...(but most of the time my subjects flew away as I was setting the paddle down - before I even touched ny phone/camera)...I did manage to catch an egret taking off from a dock & a lovely pelican allowed me 18 shots before tiring of the paparazzi...they are now my profile pic...no dolphin encounter today but when I looked to the sky watching hawks & buzzards the waxing moon was there...dolphins & mid-day moons are two things that always make me breathe deep & smile with my heart...either one makes a good day...

Maui -

space is blank because I can't find the right words...thank you for being an inspiration to us when you were dealing with heartache this week as well...May you continue to have peas! And cabbages & beets! I'm doing my best to send you some of our rain to clense your air so you can take a deep breath!

emoticon & emoticon to all of you deckies!

emoticon to you Maui, like Snow said, you are an inspiration for us on deck, and clearly to those you touch personally.

Snow, sounds like that garage is coming along! It also sounds like it's going the way of Larry's garage project, only I hope yours goes more quickly! I think were getting close to a year of his working on this project, and it's an offshoot of the shed project that I KNOW has been going on for over a year....since he started that before Christmas 2013....maybe one day those shelves will be done!

Misshartung, no storm for me, but I'd take it! We were sunny and into the 60's, so I ended up on a trail run, 5.5 miles worth, really nice day! We may get some rain tomorrow night (fingers crossed!) and into Tuesday.

Maui, I am respectably melancholy for you today, emoticon I am taking in your losses, and todays memorial service sounds so heartfelt - your description caught me off guard and tears emoticon came out of nowhere! Puff the Magic Dragon.... I will be singing it in the garden today... it will take on many meanings - kind of an "Over the Rainbow" day . You will be fine, leading the singing like you so on your road trips emoticon You are my inspiration, and I can tell on SP you inspire others to be mindful, strong, diligent, and to follow their hearts emoticon in all the ways that make us better human beings.

Well Wood, tummy calmed down a bit? I hope you are reclining, relaxing, emoticon and recovering. Ill pop in to the woodshop to be sure is tidy and ready to go when you are, I love organizing your tools and putting things in order so your tasks and projects will be easy to resume. NO worries, Ill just want a neck/shoulder massage when you are up to it emoticon I left a bouquet of lovely tulips on the doorstep for Luv to put on her dining table. Enjoy! emoticon

Garden day, and helping the "boys" periodically as well- they have taken on the garage organizing project of the century- when its all done it will be quite efficient and clean, but its still in the organizing and building shelves stages... Eric gets distracted occasionally and adds lighting here and there, rope lights, spot lights... oh my gosh this garage will be the man cave galore! emoticon Got a new cloth top for my red convertible - they polished it all up- it will be fun to run around on days like this with it now that its spiffy. My son said he drove it home and it was a head turner for sure- I don't know about that.... girls were probably just checking HIM out!! (I think I have a photo on my pics if you care to see it.)

OH my- you know the drill here on Sundays! Breakfast sandwich from heaven- then Im staying active the rest of the day- I want to skip eating because of the weight gain... but Ill try to just have half.... and be good all week instead! Have a great day all!

Hummer just flew by!! emoticon ***SNOW*** emoticon

Just a trim for me Maui, I'm sticking with the current style for now, it's just past my shoulders, so I don't have the shower clogging hair falling out all the time, and I can still pull it back if need be. And, Snow, it is nice to be pampered! I'm sure your clients feel that way too!

Choc, I'll be virtually joining you in the cabin too! Pour me a coffee for now, but later we'll hit the wine! emoticon emoticon Hope you had a great snowy hike!

KB, I took a glance at the article, there are so many links between depression and physical ailments....it's good to remember that! I love my yoga/meditation practice, as I think it really helps me with that. I'm much less anxious and depressed than I used to be.

Well, another beautiful day here, sunny, clear skies. I noticed on the forecast we are supposed to get a light rain Monday night/Tuesday morning...it would be nice if that turned into a snowstorm! But I'll take whatever comes. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Morning Deckies!

OK...Wood- So so sorry you are not feeling well. Please take care. And...since you have been to services etc...gatherings...Are you sure its not food poisoning???? Flu is sure spreading big time too. Could be either. Please take good care. sounds like you are having a rough time. Hugs my friend.

Snow- Hehe...cabin weekend with Choc! Fun fun right?? Yep, we'd have fun for sure...snowshoeing, fun fun fun. Great advise to Ladybug about the stalker...never take it lightly, right? You went through so much. Crazy weather eh? My plants are saying 'Spring?"

Choc- Have fun! Stay warm. Happy time! :)

Ladybug- Yay...taxes done! Woohoo! Stalker deal...not good. I'd listen to Snow...

KB- Yep...stresses are rough on the body! I have not had time to read the article yet...but I will. We are not always this stressed out...lol...we are typically a lighthearted bunch...but we are honest too. Part of what I love about this team...the fullness of life...right here. support and love will follow. All good. But yes, we need to be mindful of the affects of stress...Thank you! All pieces to the puzzle of health.

Hobbes- Great news you are on the mend! Whew...You having some of this great weather too? We were up to about 78 yesterday at my house! Ick! Too warm. Hubby and I worked out back for a short while...asthma kicked in, came back inside...Yep...need rain. Please keep taking care today, so you can recover completely.
But outside too can be such great healing for a spirit...so maybe some outside time too??
Hugs.

Kay- new hairdo or just a trim? LOL...I have not cut my hair in a long while...well, actually I have trimmed it myself a couple time...hahaha...I guess I need to figure something out, but maybe not. Saves money and stress a bit. I can braid it, or pin it up and just go. Hubby likes it longer too. :) So...what you decide to do?
Are you getting the warm up we are? Crazy! Sure hope we can do the right dance to get some rain!

Me- well...one service done yesterday. Tears and hugs, laughter, stories and nice to spend some dedicated time sharing about this great man.
Today's service will be rough. This friend was younger than me, and her first grandchild was born this week. I have struggled with emotions with loosing this friend. Today I will need to breathe and then breathe some more. Wood, I thought of you when preparing...we are having a sing along at her service. I am healing lead...you'd have jumped right in to help too...I am sure. We are singing "Puff the Magic Dragon". She was a substitute teacher who came with puppets and her guitar. The kids for an entire district knew her as the 'Lady who came to sing'. Today will be a beautiful gathering of love...but hard to say goodbye. I know she is hear with us...but my goodness.

Thanks my friends for holding my hand.

Become the change you wish to see in the world.

It's early Sunday morning, I'm the first one up this morning & just waiting for it to get light enough outside to go for a walk in the woods... Cold here though, about 12 degrees right now!!!!

Wood... Feeling better this morning? Hope so!

Catch y'all later.... Have a Super Sunday.... Choc :-)

emoticon Wood, I am so sorry to hear about you getting really sick, sounds like classic flu symptoms... I feel so bad for you, hope it passes quick! Please accept my condolences on your losses this last week as well.... might be what made you vulnerable to the bug that gotcha emoticon Geeze.

Ladybug...stalkers are no fun, and this one sounds like she is a real nuisance! Sounds very weird that a gal can get so caught up to someone she befriends online, but for one who never even does Facebook.... maybe I don't have a clue. All I know is that I had a IRL stalker that zapped 5 years our of me and my family's lives.... so do what ever it takes legally or otherwise to get her out of your life!

Choc, your life sounds pretty sweet right now, I think we should all come and pay a visit and chillax with you! I did get another year older this week.... but Im still the same ol' crazy ***SNOW***!!! Did I tell you I have a hummer sitting on a nest??

Hi Kay! Hope the hairdo came out great, that you got pampered and able to relax!! I love being the "giver" - today was a day of listening, being supportive, and giving our several hugs to a couple of dear clients that Ive become close to through the years. One was a 74 year old gal who is set to have a knee replacement on Monday.... she was nervous of course, but I told her Ill come see her and make sure her hair isn't wackey in the hospital! She is having it done in the city where my parents live, so I can go visit them as well.

Im ready tfor a weekend around home... supposed to be like summer here tomorrow, guess where I hope to be all day! Yup- outdoors.... in the garden.... maybe a hike with my DH.

Hobbes, I think you are on the mend! glad you feel better, you are such great support on the deck, its like you have always been a part of the "family"!! What would we do without you?? Uh oh... I see the turtles coming out to check on you again... Ill see if I can divert them with some treats, but I cant promise you anything for sure- they are pretty determined little guys, just ask Slimmer and TAR! Oh the stories they could tell ya!

Soup is ready.... time to wind down... I did something really dumb before checking in on the deck here- I forced myself to watch a Utube about a dog emoticon that was abused- tied up to a truck bumper by 2 intoxicated young men, forgot about the dog, then later drove off in the truck..... needless to say- the photos, the story, the recovery (which ended happily) had me reduced to a crying little baby. That one video made me watch a couple of others and Im wanting to cuddle and hold my "babies" close, and pray for all the neglected and abused animals in the world.... sniff, sniff.

Life. yeh, I think a ride on LIFE is due for me tomorrow- Im getting closer to the front seat each time I ride.... have you noticed? emoticon

***SNOW*** emoticon

Home is where the heart is.

Wood...Sorry to hear you're not feeling well... Hope you feel better soon!

At a friend's cabin "up north" for the weekend... A little xc skiing today, yummy yummy dinner (there goes the diet!!!!).... Tomorrow I'm going to do some snowy hiking in the woods (hopefully Work off some of the calories from tonight's dinner!) right now sitting in front of a nice warm wood stove sipping on some wine! .... I'll leave an extra bottle here on the deck in case anyone wants a sip or two

Wow, Ladybug, that's quite a lot of effort for that person to go through....I wonder about people sometimes. Do you know this person IRL or just online? It sounds pretty traumatic either way. Hope she leaves you alone, from what I know about you, I wouldn't mess with you! I mean you climb ropes and stuff, bad a$$$! emoticon

Wood hope you feel better soon! A bucket at bedside is not a good sign! emoticon

Hobbes, nice that you are on the mend!

I got in a short walk before my hair appointment. And it's so pretty out, I may have to head back out again! (at least hang out in the fresh air and sunshine....)

My thoughts and condolences and love and hugs go to all of you on Deck experiencing loss and hardship. I'm sorry I've been absent this past week and not providing more support.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My week was hectic and busy and a little stressful, but all pretty minor compared to some of you. I only just this morning finished catching up on work, even after working a solid 11.5 hours yesterday. Had an incident with my stalker. She grabbed a picture of me off my FB page (didn't realize I had personal photos that were public), photoshopped it, and posted it online. Then when it was removed for violating harassment policies, she posted it here on Spark. It was flagged and removed again. Her and I are not on any mutual teams but have mutual friends here on Spark, which is rough. I struggle with the idea of outing this person because on the one hand she seems to only exhibit this volatile behavior toward me (there's a story there, of course), but on the other, I think she gets access to some of my stuff by talking to unsuspecting mutual friends (who have positive opinions of her). I don't know. Things were super chill until apparently somebody flagged one of her blogs and she assumed it was me (it wasn't, but even so, if Spark removes content it's for a reason). Then she blew up and did this whole harassment thing. It all seems to go in waves where I won't hear from her for a month or two and then she blows up and does something extreme. Here's hoping for a couple drama-free months.

On the positive side, I filed my taxes and am getting back a few grand! I always use my return to pay back debt (which I inevitably rack up again over the course of the year, lol), so I'm looking forward to that deposit. I think I'll take pups to the park today. She's had a lot of energy lately, so maybe she'll actually run around. She tends to just mosey at the dog park and tear circles in my small backyard, lol.

“Today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others as much as I can.” – H.H. Well, I started reading this yesterday....and finished up this morning, so Happy Saturday!

emoticon emoticon emoticon Wood, my condolances on you losses, what a rough couple of days! Stay safe with the driving conditions....

It's nice to hear you got some skiing in, with LUV! Fresh tracks, hard to beat that, and I can see the beauty of the woods with the snow...one of my favorites sights, I hope I get to experience that soon IRL! (I may have to put on my snow-dancing shoes!)

Maui, great gardens! You are the master gardener for sure! I have to be content with my Trader Joe's basil plants, but we do enjoy having fresh basil now.

Choc, hope you get out on your skis soon!

Hobbes, feel better! emoticon

No real plans for today, except I have a hair appointment this afternoon, gotta figure out what to do with the rest of the day!

Hobbes- Sorry, I forgot to post about this ...I read on one of the posts, you are not feeling well. emoticon emoticon Get better! Rest. Fluids...you know the drill.

KB- Friday fun is a good think, right? Catch up, smell the roses...

I just came in from outside watering and turning the compost. Its waaaay to beautiful outside.
But felt so good. So much 'going on' out there.
Mary- I still am getting peas! Crazy right? And cauliflower heads galore. Cabbages ready to harvest this next 2 weeks...still have some spinach, chard and Bok choy...lots of leeks, greens, radishes and a few beets. It was quite a nice break to say hello to my garden.

More hugs everyone.

Wow...
So much heartache this week. So gad we have each other!

Wood- I am so sorry about your losses. Big hugs my friend. Please stay safe as you drive about. Let us know you have made it home. Hug Luv for me. You too my friend. Yes...in a day...a moment,,,so much can change. Live fully. Yes.

Mary- Such sad news too. I can only imagine how difficult this is for the family and community. Heartbreaking.

We...me too. I have memorials both Sat and Sunday for 2 very dear friends...They both died back in December and their families wanted to postpone the services to get them away from the holiday for many reasons. So...they are both this weekend. Hard.
I am helping with both, which has occupied me a bit extra this week.

Life in its fullness includes saying good bye. Hard for us in this busy, and often distant culture we live in today. Its hard to remember to be fully present, living in the moment, not allowing for distractions, ...taking time to really listen, and love. So often these days it seems folks don't even put their phone down and stop txting and Look me in the eyes...But we must!

Like Hobbes and Wood talked about yesterday (sorry I missed yesterday), finding the beauty, the good, the happy, the real life. This morning I went for an early walk , it was cold and crisp. It was dark. But after a couple miles, the new day dawned, as the sky became light, beautiful peachy-orange little puff clouds appeared dotted on robin egg blue sky. Then as he sun rose, the trees turned fire orange...I wish I had a camera. I have missed my mornings outside. A gift.

Take a deep breath everyone. Know you are loved.
Life is good.

Going to be a very mixed day today. Set the alarm for an early start. First, will pick up Luv's long arm sewing machine from the shop. (needed to be serviced) - about 1 1/2 hours driving. Second, 2 of my aunts died this week. One funeral today. One tomorrow. Four hours driving. Third, we have dinner theater tickets for this evening - sort of on the way home from the funeral. Tomorrow we're predicted to have a snow storm so that may affect getting to funeral #2. On top of all of this, a NOMAD friend of ours was on a mission trip this past week, ended up in the hospital and was put in hospice care 2 days ago! How rapidly the carpet can be pulled out from under you!

Enjoy the NOW! It's what we got!

Kay... I love watching sunsets and sunrises!

Hobbes... Hope you feel better today!

Wood... Glad you and Luv got a chance to XC ski... I might try today, although I'll have to stick to just a couple "mowed down" hay fields nearby because we still only have about 3 inches of snow and the woods & trails near here still have too much brush & other ground cover sticking out through the snow... Supposed to get a lot more snow Sunday so maybe next week will be better XC conditions

Have a fantastic Friday everyone! :-)

Well, Luv and I did get out for some cross-country skiing this afternoon over at the State Park. There was barely enough snow, but it was enough and we had a great time. We were also the only ones skiing and I mean the only ones! No tracks in the snow. Well needless to say we had no trouble finding beauty. Snow + wooded area + lake = a lot of beauty. On an equal basis, we got to watch our resident coyote hunting from our dining room window again.

Of course, things always look beautiful from the deck hot tub. Jump in and join me!

Life is good!

Key

To Success is to NOT get sick (again) but Hobbes is down for the count this evening.

Wood I'm feelin' quite honored that what I posted yesterday you thought had enough insight to repost and used as a challenge of perspective.

Because I'm feelin' gimpy I just can't contribute more for now.

The only thing that I can say is that; The Deckies are a fabulous flock to hang around with.

Well, Wood,I just saw your repost and challenge this evening, so I didn't have it in my head all day,but I will say, one of your descriptions was apt for me! I was jogging home, got to the freeway overpass and a man was walking a young child toward me. I smiled at the man and he smiled back, and then smiled at the child and was rewarded with the biggest grin! emoticon I'm so happy your challenge reminded me of that moment, that might have just left my mind forever if not for that reminder. It did make my heart happy! emoticon

And I also saw a pretty amazing sunset on the way home as well, I went a little different way than usual, by the pond, and the reflection of the pale orange sky on the pond was quite breathtaking...if only I had a camera to capture it! My memory will have to suffice....

Wood ... Great "challenge"... Glad Hobbes gave you that idea... Look for beauty "everywhere"... Something worth doing every day!

Getting ready to go out for a snowy hike (Wood...we only got about 2 inches of snow yesterday, still not quite enough on the ground for XC skiing here)

Hoping today's walk will help me get rid of one more pound to get me back to last Friday's LMS weigh-in... Our family 2-day gathering last weekend definitely didn't help me stick to my diet goals (but being with family we don't see often enough was worth a little "diet-cheating" LOL)

Gotta go... Be back later emoticon

Just keep swimming!

Never give up!

Hobbes, Please forgive me for taking your post on LMS and dragging it over here to "The Deck" to repost it, but I thought it worthy of discussion here. I hope you don't mind.

Here's Hobbes's post: "3.28 miles. I didn't pick a very good place to run as there were too many cars & funny other smells. Quite an unpleasant experience really although at the very end I just decided to be grateful. I purposefully looked around me to see the beauty in just what was (at that moment). It's amazing how that changed my perspective."

Hobbes, I think you possess a gift that I wish more people shared with you: the ability to see that there is beauty everywhere if we just take the time to refocus and recognize it!

All of us here on the deck are seekers of natural beauty and we're quick to comment, as I did this morning, on the obvious: a snowstorm transformation; or the beauty of a sunset (or sunrise), or the powerful beauty of the ocean before a storm! But what of the beauty that is so often overlooked by most of us: the wildflowers that suddenly bloom in a burned out forest; the songbirds that sing among the shells of rusting automobiles in a "junk yard"; the innocence of the tiny furry kitten that comes out from behind the trash can in the alley of a blighted inner-city neighborhood; the red-tailed hawk soaring above the industrial park or the smile of a young child responding to your greeting as you walk by him!

How about if we all do what Hobbes did on her unsatisfying run and take a look around us and purposely look tor beauty? Let's try it today. Report on the deck this evening what you saw.

Life is good!
