Its normal to have a bad day..we are all humans and guess what? Its what you do after that really counts. You know u ate a bit much or something that you really shouldnt have. Fine now move on ...get back to the gym, water and eating on track. I fall off at least 3 xs a week but I havent given up..the way i see it ...if my body craves it and i ate it, I must have needed something ...and keep on movin. Every day is new we face new challenges and hurdles to jump..we are human and we fall and we must get up again..Be proud of how far you have come and think of what you have learned to make a better you. Best of luck!

Beth -

Admitting the problem is the first step. So, is there anyone else who can do the shopping for a few weeks, until you can get over the damn ice cream bars? That would be an ideal way of keeping them out of your freezer - don't get them in the first place. If not, are you keeping track of every 100 calories that you're eating? EVERY bar needs to be recorded. EVERY ONE. Start small to get back on track. Write it down. EVERY ONE. There's no fooling or lying to yourself when you step on that scale, so don't omit any of them. No lying to yourself.

YOU'RE going to have to make the decision that you can retake control of the situation. YOU can decide that you have the ability to eat one or two a day and stay within healthy nutrition goals. YOU can make the decision to throw the damn bars in the trash can or watch them go down the garbage disposal or let them add back the pounds YOU are working so hard to get rid of. Only YOU know what it's going to take to get through this addiction for YOU... Only YOU can decide if the reasons that you really want to lose the weight are more important than the taste of the damn ice cream...

Please, PLEASE know that there are a lot of us out here pulling for you and feeling helpless for you and shedding more than a few tears right along with you, because we're all pretty much in the same boat here. Just don't give up and quit all together. Stay here and hopefully get what you need from the Sparksfolks. Get back and find a W.W. meeting that you feel comfortable going to. Okay? YOU CAN do this!

I already threw the things away, dug out my WW material and ate Oatmeal for breakfast and cottage cheese for a snack so far. Also got out that water again. Thank you for listening and encouraging me.

Mindy on the days you feel you are blowing it celeebrate what you do right. Got your water in, ate your fruits and veggies whatever. Remember to celebrate you! I have dealt with the feelings of more attention also. Just be honest with yourself and remember food is NOT a comfortor.

Beth I find when I actually throw something away it helps me to not buy it the next time because I feel like I am throwing away money. I mean you would never put $2.00 in the trash would you. Go now thorw them out!

Boy did I need to jump in here and confess to someone. I am a lifetime member and went back in March to meetings because after 7 years with a good weight, I put on nearly 30 pounds again. I got back to below goal and then at a meeting the topic was snacks and someone brought in a box of klondike 100 cal ice cream bars and talked how good they were. That was two months ago and I have been on a binge since. I seem to get one food that I obsess on and cannot stop eating. I feel like an addict. I have also tried OA but could not really get it. I am a loyal member of AA and am frustrated that I cannot apply the principles to my eating. I promise I will not buy them and then do. I weighed for the first time in two months (have not been to meetings in two months either) and I am no longer in goal weight. I am again over the 160 mark. I am really frustrated and depressed. It just feels better to confess and get the dirty little secreat out. I am going to go throw the ones in my freezer down the garbage disposal. It is soo like my drinking was. Beth

Ditto on the suggestion for the Beck Diet Solution. I've been using the Workbook that goes with it. It's not a "diet" book -- more of a how to change your thinking to start helping your weight loss along instead of sabotaging it (So, who hasn't been a yo-yo sometime in their lives??)

I'd advise picking up a copy of 'the Beck Diet Solution at the library or bookstore. It's helping me deal with my motivation / emotional eating issues. a TON. Good luck - you can do it!!!

Also remember you are human, you are going to have bad days. When you have a bad day let it go...start over and don't spend precious time beating yourself up. You live and you learn, then you move on.

WOW...Thank you so much for all of your candid replies! I will honestly say that reading your responses has helped me. In fact...I will probably go back and read them again and again when I'm feeling down. Thank you for your words and your help in reminding me that this rocky path...though much more difficult than the paved one...is so much more worth it in the end! And continued good luck to all of you!

I have a dress that I have every intention of wearing again...It hangs where I can see it every time I drag out my 'big girl' clothes. It helps keep me motivated. Now, I don't lose every week, but I still keep in mind that I will be back there. There is also a pic taken of me 5 years ago..right before I started gained weight...I was 35 years old and looked good in a two piece...still have the two piece and look at the pic often to remind myself that I can do it. Good luck...let us know how you are doing.

Putting up a picture of where we were and where want to be is a great motivator!!

What I found as a huge motivation was seeing a picture of me along my weight loss journey and a picture of me before I started it. I hung the 2 pictures up on my mirror and looked at them every day! And now I look a picture of me from last November and just last month (which is in my SP profile) and cannot believe the difference in less than 1 year!
You can do it; keep your head up and think long term. I remember along my journey if I was up one week or stayed the same, getting discouraged but I kept trucking along!
You can do this!!!! emoticon

Along with what's already been said I'd like to add this;
I also struggle with this.
I have stopped many times to ask myself why don't I really want to lose the weight, what do I get by staying overweight. No clear answers yet but some thoughts I'm not ready to share...dealing with the attention I might get if I looked sexy. Is it simply that change comes slowly or something more?
We all KNOW what to do - it's the doing it that's hard! Try just for today to stay within your points, drink your water, get your milk, veggies/fruit in...let tomorrow take care of itself. I'll do the same - just for today with you.

Make a list (as specific as possible) of all the reasons you want to lose weight and make lifestyle changes.

Then pick your top ten reasons. Type them up. Make several copies. Put them up everywhere.

Dedicate 15 minutes a day just to you... more if you can. YOU DESERVE IT and that fifteen minutes is for a soak in the tub, reading a good book, anything that makes YOU feel special and gives you time to reflect on why you want to do this.

And click the HEALTHY LIFESTYLE tab above... then MOTIVATION for lots more ideas.

Okay...I just need some motivation. I get angry at myself because a healthier body should be motivation enough but I'm having a hard time getting there! I have lost 19 pounds since April but am just having a rough time keeping it going. Give me your own motivational thoughts ladies! I appreciate in advance anyone responding to this post!
