Facts do not cease to exist just because they are ignored."
I have a ''Joan story" for today. As all of you know that have been with this daily post of quotes and even sometimes information know that on April 16th I had to have a hip revision done. I'm 8 weeks post op now, and when I was 3 weeks out, and went back in to see the surgeon I told him of this pain I have in my groin thigh area. On that day his reply was, ''don't have an answer for you on that." I have to admit I thought that was odd due to 1. I don't complain unless I have a legit thing to complain about. 2. I did think, ''well, it has only been 3 weeks." So I began putting heat and ice packs on it, I used Ben Gay on it, one night my thigh hurt so badly I even wrapped it in an ace bandage, none of this has helped. So I went back a week ago today to see the surgeon for my 7 weeks post op visit. Again I told him, ''I am still have terrible pain in my groin, and thigh area, in fact I cannot get up from a sitting position unless I have that walker there to steady for for at least 2-3 minutes." My surgeon's reply was this....." I can sympathize with you, I can give you a hug, and I can write you a prescription for pain medication, other than that there is nothing I can do."
People you might as well set my hair on fire!!!!!!! I am so not a woman that takes to being dismissed like this. Thing that no one seems to understand including me is the attitude of this surgeon, the same surgeon that did the original hip replacements, plus my one knee that has been replaced, and he is the one that has done the two revisions on my hips. There was no, ''lets look further into this, there was no I don't know but we have to find out what this problem is." I still can't even drive due to I cannot safely or even fast enough move my foot from the gas to the break when need be, and we all know things on the road happen quickly at times. Kevin, Bob's oldest and the one that has been doing all my driving and errand running and taking me to the doctor, well he and his wife will be leaving in less than 3 weeks heading back to their home in Texas, so what do I do then? I even explained this to the surgeon and all he did was repeat his I can sympathize with you, I can give you a hug and I can write you a prescription for pain medication. I won't even tell you all what I said to him due to this is not a place for bad words.
So I went to my Internist on Monday of this week, told her of my problem and she said, ''we need to get you a second opinion.'' She referred me to an Orthopaedic doctor that does only hips, and my Internist knows that time is of the essence here due to Kevin leaving, so the office called yesterday and the EARLIEST appointment is for......wait for it....wait for it.....OCTOBER 4TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, just a little too late for me.
I am frustrated, I am in pain, I have Bob to care for, I DO NOT take pain medication, that is something too easy to get hooked on. So I am facing up to the facts but it seems my surgeon believes in , ''Ignorance Is Bliss."
Thanks for listening, I needed to get this out.
Make it a GREAT day.
Hugs to all,
