WOW you do get up so early now that it is Ramadan here everyone seems to sleep during the day and and stay up all night, it isn't unusual for my husband to get called to a meeting at 2-3am so that means we are having very late nights and sleeping late in the mornings it is a very strange life here.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend and it is good you are getting plenty of rest your body must need it.

Hi Rosie, hope you have a fun weekend planned. Oh my I love cheese, and just like you I can totally over do that. I have to be really careful especially with colby cheese, my all time favorite. Its everything in moderation, but most time ''moderation'' is not in my mind. Need to work on that. Something I have found out this past week since the pool has been closed and I've not been going to the gym and that is, I have been sleeping a bit later. Instead of getting up at 2 or 2:30 am, its been more like 4 am. I know that is still super early, but I have to admit I am feeling much more rested.

I cannot tell you how many times that has happen to me, write a nice long post and boom its gone. Drives me crazy.
Nothing new here, I did go get my haircut yesterday, love it. Then I had to go back over to Benny and Roselee's to help interview a woman they are thinking of using, and she was a very nice lady.

I had to laugh when I read your post and you wrote Hoover Dam, lol lol....its Beaver Dam. lol lol. Not a problem due to a lot of people have me moving to Wisconsin since there is a Beaver Dam in Wisconsin. lol lol.

So proud of you that you are able to have a treat on the weekends and can stop, I can't seem to get more than two or three days before I fall off the wagon. I was looking at my calendar yesterday and Tuesday was a year ago when I started my getting off sugar journey, only to have it sabotaged, which is no one fault but mine due to I should have just gotten back on track, so I take responsibility for all of it, except the deception of a so called friend.

I am back emoticon So nice you had some days away, it must of been good for you to get to Beaver Dam did you look around for any houses to rent. Good on you staying sugar free well done.
I have been pretty good I am still sticking to just having a sweet thing on Saturdays so I am so pleased with my self, I still know I can't have it in the house but to know I can go out one day a week and have a treat I am happy with that.

Its Ramadan here at the moment and it is very quite, everyone starts going out about 9pm at night and that is when the shops open they stay open till 2am.

Hi Kate, so glad you found mine and Rosie's ''Getting UnSweet" thread. From time to time Rosie and I have had people to stop by and they are always welcomed, but Rosie and I are the diehards we come by just about everyday to post something, whether its good or not so good. Sweet Rosie has over 100 consecutive days of being without sugar, and that is no easy task. I know for myself, I feel so much better when I am not eating all that sugary junk stuff, candy, cookies, ice cream, etc. However, sugar has always been my drug of choice, and I do great once I get off the stuff, but if I ever get a taste, its all over and done with. So again today I recommit myself to my sugar free journey.

Joan, I caught up to this thread rather late.

Now I have a lifelong image of a Home Invasion by 4 Boxes of Candy!

Oh, jelly beans... They are on my Hazardous Materials list. I simply cannot buy them because I act totally stupid: counting them out for points, then gobbling them up and counting more, etc. I know there is zero nutritional value!

There are other sweet things that I can stare down without a problem (good thing because DH keeps bringing more in!). My biggest defense is having a list of foods that I need to eat to have balanced nutrition, and reaching for them instead of the empty stuff, my daily checklist! I read about the vitamins on the nutrition report, and imagine how fine my health might be once I got the knack of things.

The more balanced my nutrition, the less I crave sweets. That's how it works for me. If I "must" have something like jelly beans, I buy a single snack-size bag. If I don't want to track it, I don't put it into my mouth.

My doctor asked me to go sugar free a few years ago. I haven't committed to that yet, as I don't believe that a teaspoon of sugar in each of 2 cups of coffee has led to my present weight. Indeed, lack of portion control and lack of exercise have created my current size. I may have to change my tune -- will know after my July labs.

As for stress, acknowledge it. Identify something you can do about it. If you cannot change it, learn to accept it and plan accordingly (yes, the Serenity Prayer). Do something silly (not food-related) to remind yourself to feed your sense of humor. Laugh at yourself, love yourself, respect yourself.

And I say, "Some days you just have to get through." And that is enough.

Hi Rosie,
my Great Nephew Coty is coming up either this afternoon or he's getting up really early tomorrow morning and coming up. He was going to come up today, but he had a tree in his back yard that needs to be cut down, its dead and he does not want to risk the wind blowing it over on his house, and I can't blame him for that. It will be good to see him, and then next Friday I"m going down to Beaver Dam for a long weekend, I need a few days away from everything up here.

We can do this Rosie. I left the story in the other thread about the power being off at the center were we have our weight in and WW meeting. Long story short, the power was off so no one could weigh in. I have to admit it was a nice surprise cause I think sometime we put too much into that number, or at least I know I do. All the best on your weigh in today. It's nice you can go to your meetings and catch up on whats been happening at WW's and meeting up with all your friends.

I have been pretty good with my food, and my exercise I am trying to make sure I get at least 10,000 steps in a day, and writing down everything that I eat I am on 26 points a day but I find if I have that many everyday I don't loss weight so I eat 20-26 a day. I am on a mission to get rid of my last 14pounds. I set a goal to get to 138pounds and I am only 4pounds away from that then I will set another goal to loss 10 more pounds then I will be in the healthy weight graph. Little steps at a time.

We can do this Joan, we have till the end of September we are strong and we want give up.

Hi Joan,
Thats a great idea meeting with your trainer and getting a work out. I just read the Weight watchers magazine (the Australian one) and that is how one lady lost 140pounds she said she just did laps up and down the pool that was her only exercise.

Like you said today is another day and we can start again well done Joan.

Hi Rosie, how funny Krsipy Cream donuts are from right here in Louisville. For some reason people rave about those donuts but I have never seen the appeal. Give me something loaded with filling. emoticon Ever once in a while the Krispy Cream donut place will have a free donut day, you go in and they will give you a free donut. I've never done this. emoticon I am so proud of you, staying away from the sweets for six days and then just having one, way to go.

I had sweets over the weekend, have no clue why, but I did, but today is a brand new day. Oh before I forget, I'm meeting with my trainer on Wednesday for a pool workout. Today I will do the pool but it will be my own workout.

Yes we can do this what a great challenge we have I went to the shops and got lots of yummy veggies to make some salads, plus some nice fruit of cause I brought grapes, they seem to help me with the sweet cravings.

Last night we went out and had a doughnut I love crispy cream doughnuts (where I come from in Australia we don't have them there) I had my first one in Tuson Arizona. But last night when I had ate it, it didn't seem to taste all that nice, but of cause I ate all of it, but I was good I didn't go some where else to have another sweet treat. So I lasted a full 6 days last week without sweets, so I am happy with that.

Rosie, you are just the best, doing this with me. Here we go get ready, get set...we are off.

Since Benny's birthday is today, I took him a gift yesterday. Now you have to remember Benny and Roselee are Jewish, but as Benny puts it "he's not a super Jew." So I made BBQ pork and bought a package of buns for him and took him 4 containers of homemade BBQ pork, something Roselee will not eat cause she does not eat pork. Benny was thrilled with this.

Here to your getting rid of those 14 pounds and me getting rid of whatever I can get rid of. We can do this and we can do this together.

It is great that your nephew is going to help you, it sounds like you have some lovely people there.

What a great idea to get in shape and lose some weight before you go to Beaver Dam that is a good goal to aim for, and you will feel so great that you did it.

I have to tell you that 22 year old Great Nephew of mine (Coty) he is so thrilled at the prospects of my moving back to Beaver Dam, that everyday he is out looking for me a place to live. lol lol. I just love that kid.

Hope your weekend will be a good one, and if you go for a treat make sure it is a super duper good one. Tomorrow is Mr. Benny's 86th birthday, so today I am taking him a gift of bbq pork. He loves the bbq pork that I make, and I was going to get him a small cake and then decided, he got a lot of sweets for Father's Day just last week, he does not need a cake this week as well. So I have made the bbq pork, put it in small one serving containers, and I have this box, so going to put it in that box, and tie the ribbon around it, and BAM....instant birthday gift. emoticon

Rosie, I have decided I don't want to return to Beaver Dam at this weight, so I am going to be working super hard to try and get at least 20 pounds off before I move in September. Wish me luck, and I can do this.

Hi Rosie,
I was up a couple of pounds this week, but that seems to be how it goes down one week up the next. Which I do not have to ask myself why, I know why. I'm making this a better week.

Your right Rosie, I do have time, and its like my sister said, ''if you have to stay here with us for a couple of weeks or longer, that is no big deal." but I am hoping and praying that won't be the case. I know something will turn up, just keep those prayers coming.

Hi Rosie,
today is my weigh in day. Not sure how the scale will be, but all in all I've had a pretty good week.

I am so happy Rosie, and after Bob's passing I was not sure I'd ever really be happy again. I did tell Benny and Roselee and Roselee took it a lot better than Benny did, but I knew that would be how it would happen.

I can read in your post how uplifted and excited you are, it will be a wonderful change for you, and it is wonderful that you will have your sister so close to you. I know it will be the best thing for you.

We are doing great with our sugar free days, and we just have to keep all sweet things out of the house.

emoticon to both you and I for having 3 days without sugar. emoticon Hi Rosie,
as long as we can keep that stuff our of our homes we may very well have a plan and can stay more free of sugar than having the whole bag of jelly beans and eating them all in one sitting, I would save the black ones for you. emoticon My brother-in-law, loves the black ones as well.

I am so happy with the response I have gotten from everyone about my latest news, and Rosie I am so excited to have something to look forward to. God works in mysterious way, and I can feel God's hand in all of this.

Good morning Rosie,
I'm going to do the pool today at the gym. I even purchased a new bathing suit for this adventure. My hip and other joints have been giving me so much trouble that I decided, time to get back to the pool.
Also I left some ''breaking news" in the other thread. Its all good, I have just made a different plan than my Stepsons had in mind.

I am so glad the meeting went well and you are feeling so much better inside.

I think you did great not eating the black ones, as I would of eaten everyone of them including the black as they are my favourite, I use to go to the shops and only buy the black ones. Yes we both know we cannot have any thing sweet in the house.

you and I are so very much alike. Like you I do fine if I don't have the junk (sweets) in the house, and here is something I can share with you. Yesterday Kevin and Robin were coming our we three needed to have a chat about things, well I had gone to the store and purchased two small bags of jelly beans, nothing but sugar we both know that. I thought to myself I can put those in the candy dish and be fine, won't have to any at all, and I did, up to a point...up to the point when our little meeting was over and done with and the feeling of the weight of the world was off my shoulders had been removed, then I took the candy dish and ate all the jelly beans except the black ones. So like you Rosie, I have decided....does not matter who maybe coming by, I cannot have sweets in my house. I'll have to serve cheese and crackers, or celery with pimento cheese. " :)

I couldn't get on here yesterday as we had internet problems, so we went and got another server, so I hope this one works better.

Great story on your NSV, just think of the great weight loss you had on Thursday and know that if you work the plan it does work, also know that you an do it.

I did have a lovely sweet treat last night I am happy to say I stuck to just one, but then my husband brought home a packet of cookies (ones I don't even like very much) but of cause I wasn't happy till the whole packet was gone and I was the one that ate them all, so I know I just can't have them in the house (how sad is that I still haven't learnt) so I had a good talk to my husband and we will only stick to sweets once a week and only if we go out for it and only have one. emoticon

Rosie, all I can tell you is that on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I really paid attention. That was the only thing I did, due to the weekend I ate everything I could get my hands on. But, yesterday I had a good eating day, but a long day. I worked then had to go to the funeral home last night and that was hard, but this was Bob's only sister-in-law that was left and she passed at 93. It was funny she would never tell anyone her age. Today will be the funeral and the burial, so I'm not working today. Hope your weekend will be a good one.

well I lost 3 pounds and some change yesterday. Not real sure how I did that, but I'm not complaining. Going to plan for a good week again this week. I meet with my trainer this morning and I feel so tired, so this could be a challenge for me today.

Hi Rosie, I love kidney beans as well. I would say I cooked the stuff on high for about an hour, then I turned the pot down to low and let it cook until I got home from work, so I'd say that was probably 5 hours, making a total of six hours. But you could start it out on low and just leave it on low I turned it on high to begin with because the chicken breast I used were still frozen.

Today is weight in day, and I am getting on the scale.

Your dinner sounds wonderful I think I will have to give that one ago, how many hours did you have it on for I don't know if you can get canned black beans here, but I know you can get kidney beans in a can so I will try them. I love my crock pot they are hard to find here I went to so many shops to buy one and I finally got one which was the only one in the store.

I cannot have sweets in the house because I know I want be happy till there gone, I have been 4days SF this week.

Good morning from Kentucky Rosie.
you are so right if you don't have the sugar stuff in the house you are pretty much safe. One of the leaders not long ago mentioned the same thing, that she only has a really nice sweet treat if they go out to eat, and it has to be a really nice dessert otherwise she's not wasting the points. She also said she does not allow the sweet junk in her home. So Rosie I think your on to something there.

Yesterday morning before heading off to the gym, I fixed up my crock pot, I sliced an onion thick and placed it in the bottom of the crock pot, then I rinsed and drained two cans of black beans, put those on top of the onions with a jar of chunky salsa, then I put 3 boneless skinless chicken breast on top of all of that. When I got home from work yesterday my meal was ready, and WOW, did it ever smell good and it tasted wonderful, and I was not grabbing whatever came in handy, and I have plenty for several days.

Hi Joan,
Yes we have to work into our plan. I know for me I can't have 26 points a day, I can only eat 20 plus fruit, if I have more I seem to stay the same or put on, some people can have all 26 plus weeklies and still loss weight.

On Saturday I do eat 26 points plus about 10 weekly points if I stick to that I loss weight even if its less then 1/2 pound I am happy with that. I want to stay strong and only have sugar once a week I have never been able to do that, and I know I can only do that by not having it in the house.

So today is day 3 of no sugar.

Rosie, 33 years, now that is a long time. My sister Ruthann, she and her husband celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past January, I tell her all the time, ''you've been married your entire life." She is 4 years younger than I am. How sweet that you hubby cooked for you and you know going out for dessert makes tons of sense because that way you don't have leftovers staring you each day until its gone. Great job, and even better job that you had not had anything for a full week. emoticon
Hope you had a great weekend, and sounds like you did. All I did was rest rested yesterday and I went to bed early last night, so hoping I can make it to the gym this morning.

Hi Joan,
Yesterday was our 33rd wedding anniversary I didn't want to go out for dinner as I find they put far to much salt in the food so my husband cooked a lovely dinner, then we went out for a sweet thing, I haven't had any sweets since the last weekend so Ihad a lovely crispy creme donut and really enjoyed it, I was so proud of my self that I was able to stop at one, that is something I have not been able to do before, once I start I can't stop, I hope I will keep going this way and only have sweets one day a week or not at all.

Hi Joan,
We all know that if we do the WWs plan and measure everything and stick to our points it will work, we might stay the same on the scales for a few weeks but if we don't give up it will come of in the end.

Take one day at a time Joan and I know you will try harder each day because you have never given up I am so proud of you.

This week I lost 1 pound and I am so happy that at last the scales have moved I know it only a bit but I will take it and do a happy dance as my ticker is going down.

I am going to try much harder this week. We all have stress and things and we both know all the sweets in the world is not going to make that any better, and I know I'm killing myself with the days that I am cramming myself full of junk. I saw on TV yesterday this woman who said, ''just make one change, it does not have to be a big change, start with if you eat a whole sliced bagel with egg and cheese, to begin with remove just a fourth of the bagel, then in a few day trying just having half of a bagel " I know myself when I have made small changes in my food plan I do much better.

I know stress can make you not loss weight, also I am sure you are like me I always eat more when I am stressed but saying that I also eat more when I am happy, excited, sad etc etc,
this weight thing is a everyday thing for me I have to stay strong and focus and I know if I give up just trying I will never get to my goal.

your so right, I am privileged to have my meeting, but not only that I could take in a meeting every single day, they are available. I just seem to be in a funk, I keep hoping it will pass soon, I think...no I know....its just so much going on right now that I am so stressed out with everything, so therefore I am stuffing my feelings.

I know what you mean, sometimes I get like that to were I just want to give up, be I know I would only be hurting myself.

Go to your meetings Joan, you are so privilege to be able to go to so many meetings, while living here I can't go as they don't have weight watchers here. Talk to your leader and see what she can come up with, plus you have so many wonderful friends there let them know how you feel.

Don't worry about going SF at the moment have one sweet thing a day and only stick to the one and count it into your points, I know you are saying but I can't stop at one, just try it this time and see how you go, you can do this Joan, I know you can you have done it before you can do it again.

I just don't know what is wrong with me I just cannot seem to get on track and stay on track. I'm so very frustrated. I have even given some thought of just stop going to WW's for awhile,but I know if I do something like that I'm setting myself up for failure for sure, but then again I think ''but your not doing anything but eating and gaining weight as it is." I'm very discouraged and frustrated with myself.

wish I could tell you that I'm going strong with the SF, but that would be a lie. I can't seem to get past 5 days, but at least I get 5 days. Each day I ''begin again," I keep telling myself, ''one day I'll get this right." Rosie, I have to admit not sure why I eat all that sugar cause it sure makes me feel bad after I've eaten it. But, I will keep trying.

your husband is right, its all about ''did you enjoy the cake." For me I think every time I've gotten back on the sugar, its not because something tasted all that good, and I'm not one of those people that can take a bit and if its not good just leave it be. If you can do a treat one time a week or even just on the weekends, that would be so great. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I was telling my husband that I was over 100days SF and I had that cake, he asked if I enjoyed it and I said yes I did, he said well why don't you try and have one once a week only, I will see how I go as he knows once I start I want stop, but I will see how I go for the next 6days and if I really want one I will have one, but I want to make sure I can stop at one, or I might not have any.

Rosie, that is the key to living in this world where we are tempted by all those goodies. The cream cake does sound wonderful, and that is important that you enjoyed it but even more important YOU DID NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER IT!!!!! I am so very proud of you. You have inspired me yet again.

I did not make it yesterday either I had a piece of pie, but I wanted it, and it was only one piece not the entire pie. So today I will begin yet again. We can do this.

I cant say the same i didn't end up making it to 120 days we went out last night and i had a lovely cream cake and boy did I love it, it was so yummy I am not going to stress out about having sugar.

120 days, my dear Rosie, that is so emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon all those icons tell the story. I can crow that I have 5 days in without sugar, I think I might just be feeling a bit better. But, I seem to be extremely tired, something I'm not used to being. My sister told me it might be a good idea to make an appointment with my doctor that I might need a B-12 shot. If I don't begin to feel better that is what I'll do.

I left another ''kick in the face'' story in my other thread. Rosie, I just don't know what to think of people anymore.

Hi Joan,
I am having so much trouble getting on the internet lately I don't know what the problem is may be the weekend here and everyone is trying to get on, I finely got on now tried all day yesterday but couldn't. Oh well I am on now.

Your doing great Joan 4 days SF is wonderful, I know how hard it is to try going SF and getting started again. Well done.

We are going out soon to a big mall so I will have to be very strong as there are lots of yummy food around.

I have 4 days now, and here we are at the weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed that I do not mess up now that I have 4 days. I have not been to the gym in over a week, so plan on going Sunday morning when they open. I have just been so tired lately.

I was up 1.8 for the week, but that was no real surprise for me since I was not following any plan until Tuesday. I now have three days marked on my calendar. Very tired from another late night last night details in the other thread.

Rosie, I know exactly how you felt yesterday. The 7th day of each month there is such a sadness/loneliness that hits me, but you are so far away. You are so blessed to have a good husband that helps you during these times.

I now have 2 days, without sugar and I am so happy about that. My real test will come when the weekend arrives. Today is my weigh-in day, and I'm not expecting anything good on the scale, but I will face the music, cause next week will be better.

Yesterday wasn't a good day for me it was my Dad's memorial, and I felt so sad I wasn't there it is so hard being away you feel like you are letting everyone down. We are still not sure how long we have here, and Australia is so far away we can't just get on a plane and go there for a few days. I am very lucky I have a wonderful husband that always helps me when I get down.

I am just so pleased with myself. I actually had a good food wise day yesterday. I took those boxes of candy to Mr. Benny yesterday, and of course he was thrilled to get them. But, I actually got to add a happy face to my calendar.

Hi Rosie,
when I saw your post I thought, I'm late, but had not idea I was that late. lol lol. One of my neighbors was talking about her internet being messed up. These computer are both wonderful and very aggravating.

Rosie, I think I have hit rock bottom. The entire weekend I did nothing but eat, I also ate everything that was sweet. I woke this morning telling myself, ''you are better than this. Your in pain due to all the sugar you've been consuming, and its time to stop." So Rosie, I had 4 boxes of candy that have not been opened and I'm taking those to Mr. Benny this morning, he can eat the stuff and get away with it, because for 62 years he has stayed the same weight 175 and he over 6 foot tall. So pray for me Rosie, cause I know these first few days are going to be very hard, but I can and will do this.

staying the same sometimes is a good thing. It may well be just your body adjusting to the 15 pound loss. Fifteen pounds in 8 weeks, that is great. I am really proud of you, and I know you are proud of yourself. I know what you mean, I say it all the time, ''that scale is just a tool," does not matter I want to see the numbers going downward as well. Keep up the great work.

Hi Joan,
Well my weight stayed the same this week, that is 2 weeks in a row, I should know my body by now I seem to have a good weight loss then I go a few weeks with staying the same. I know the scale is just a tool but like most people you like to see that scale go down, even if it just 100grams. I shouldn't complain as I have lost 15pounds in 8weeks so it does work out to about 1pound a week so I am happy with that and my clothes are fitting so much better.

Like the saying goes, "slow and steady wins the race."

Hope your knee isn't giving you to much trouble today and you can soon get back to exercising just take it easy.
