Christina - it is exciting when our grown kids get there first real job and buy there homes - you must be so proud. I still laugh about trying to get my daughters king size mattress up the steps - her boy freind said it is never leaving that house - lol! Cherries - yum

Janet - good luck on your sales. Hubby wants to have a garage sale and get rid of some stuff. I looked for 1/2 an hour tonight for a screw driver tonight and could not find one so I had to go buy one. I am not a happy camper - he has so many plus I have bought so many. He is so unorganized.

2nd procedure went well. Did a little shopping afterwards. Sundy I am headed to Buffalo for DD's birthday. Tomorrow I am suppose to take Michael to Boy Scout Camp for a dedication - he is at karate right now.

OH MY IT"S JUNE!!! Where did May go?

Joe was hired with a heating and air company!!!! His first "big boy" job. LOL He has worked for Fedex since high school. I'm taking him shopping for some jeans with out holes/stains for his new job.

Kelly your back to being at home full time? Are you relieved or will you miss going to work?

Johnny and I picked about 3 gallons of cherries. My MIL is going to come Sat and help me make Jelly, maybe a pie if there are enough. Jon and Kayla are all moved into their new house! I callapsed on the couch around 7 last night and only moved to go to bed.

Dorothy~Thankfully Tim has had the clear it out bug too so it made the work go much quicker!

Got all the items for Craigslist posted so now we have people coming off and on all day. What doesn't sell gets donated or I have to go to the trouble of Ebay.

Maegann and I got our 30 min. of weeding done...a long way to go though! We're skipping school as it is already 11 a.m. so we'll tackle the hamster cages and fish tank next.

Christina - that was a lot going on. How did you keep it all straight. Don't think I have ever had mulberries.

Janet - wish I could say I only one more room to do. I am very envious and overwhelmed.

Heather - glad Dad made it home safe - hope his walker turns up soon. The Summer 5% Challenge is getting ready to start and I am ready to get going - I am usually on the Amazing A Team.

Sonya - So much to absorb. I do not know how you keep your sanity. Why on earth would they want to remove the rest of the kids? Hugs and prayers are being sent your way. Hope God can give you the guidance you need.

Not much going on today - have a great day all!

Good morning!

Well life here sure is crazy! Matt graduated from 8th grade yesterday. He is now a freshman. Joe turned 22. Jon and Kayla bought their first house. They were ALL home for dinner last night. Between all that I am picking cherries and mulberries.

Well Ben is already up! I'll try to get back in a bit.

Sonya~That had to be a long three hours for you listening to Zoe rant and rav to try and “win.” Hugs! A fellow leader with co-op is going through some tough times with her foster/adopt kids. The oldest (about 10) was caught abusing his younger sister and the truth finally came out that this is his past and nobody from the Texas or Idaho social services had bothered to inform them of this prior to releasing them into her family. Anyway, he was being removed by Texas today. Not sure what that means for the two remaining siblings. Just so many hurting people out there. Whoo Hoo on the 3 lb loss!

Kelly~Are you off for the summer then? I am feeling like I may have missed something with your happenings! Glad nobody was hurt in the craziness near work. Love the dressing room story. The things kids say! Praying for your hubby and his tests.

Christina~With the Bible study at your house…definitely good motivation for cleaning/straightening! Hopefully the med study will not offer a setback for Woody. He’s lucky to have you!

Dorothy~So what par did you end with yesterday?

Heather~I even “let go” of my wedding dress. That was hard! When Tim and I would run across something that had emotional attachment we’d share it with each other and help the other “let go.” I am loving how the rooms are becoming more simplified. Oh…there’s still plenty of stuff, but it feels manageable and I know we use it all instead of letting it sit there getting moved from one place to another for years. Bought a clock and trashcan for the schoolroom today. Pretty red frame on the white wall. I stopped the 5% challenge before this current one to have one less place to report. I love the BL 10-week challenge (one weigh-in each week as well). Want to join the Jade team that I co-lead? We’re taking recruits right now and it begins June 14.

Yesterday I spent much of the day doing yard work. The lawn took over 2 hours and then there was the last piano lesson of the summer after that. First day at the new Taekwondo studio and the time is 5:30 now instead of 7:00 so that was odd. I used the time to do my Wii Fit and then make dinner. Just a blur.

Today we skipped school and I dug into the kitchen cabinets. Got done about noon. After lunch we went to the library and then dropped off the donating items. Once home I worked on dinner and then got my Wii Fit done while it was baking. Enjoyed bible study tonight.

Tomorrow...school, the kitchen counter clean-up and helping dd clean the hamster cages. I also meet the trainer at 3 p.m. Should be enough! I only have one more room to tackle...the bedroom and linen closet. Shouldn't take nearly the amount of time as the others.

We have our homeschool convention on Friday and Saturday.

Janet

HI girls. Not too much going on here. Walmart/Lowes YUK. I HATE spending $$$. O well, I MUST have undies and clothes for summer. 1 sundress, 1 shirt 2 shorts and 3 pair underwear in BIGGER sizes. I REFUSE to buy more. Its either loose weight or go naked!! ...oh a funny only MOMS can appreciate. I had to try on clothes and strapless bra and while we were in the dressing room, Chaz put the bra on his head and yelled "buy these boobs, Mommy, they're cool"!! and Livy grabbed them and said "No Chaz, they aren't boobs (as she puts it around her waist) Its a BUTT"....I was too silly to even bother trying anything else on. and NO i didn't get the new boobs/butt bra.
No storms today!
on my serious side...Tim had a repeat urine anal done and they are referring him to urlogist for blood in his urine. He didn't have s/s but this weekend he had werd pain and a full feeling around his bladder...PRAYING its nothing serious. He is eating it up since I've been repentent and super nice to him in fear he has anything wrong.

So I spent the last 10 days in total chaos. I didn't log my food and I didn't work out at all and I lost 3 pounds. ??????????

Did I mention that the team started the meeting basically asking us to give up foster care and send the smaller kids back to DCS? That's a whole other conversation....

Last night I went back to see Zoe. The visit was supervised by a nurse. At the end of the visit she said that she's decided to "give you and daddy a second chance." I told her that's a great starting place because at our meeting it was determined that we all have unrealistic expectations of each other and that we can begin to work on a list of things we could compromise on. She said "I feel like I don't have any privacy because I have to share my room." I smiled and said that one isn't going to change anytime soon. She told the team yesterday that she just wants to be on her own and alone. They let her know that will not happen.

Hi Ladies,

The trip to Berlin to the airport went amazingly well. It was super early (3-7am) and it was a holiday so the roads were really empty. I didn't even get sleepy. Dad is home safe and sound but his walker has not yet found its way home. emoticon

Sonya - glad we can be a sounding board for you. You and your family also benefit from the prayers. I'm praying that you will have the freedom and wisdom to parent as she needs. My heart breaks for her and I am praying also for her healing. emoticon to you.

Janet - I'm impressed by your ability to "let go" Excited for you for a school room.

Doro - How was the golf?

Kelly - The roof was sucked down???? emoticon

I'm totally in the weight gain category too. I'm putting off weighing until Saturday. Anybody know when the Spring 5% Challenge ends? Or if there are any other challenges out there starting soon? I'm in need of some motivation.

Have a good Wednesday!

Good morning girls!

Kelly enjoy those last 2 days of work. Better yet enjoy the financial rewards!

Sonya I am praying for you. May you have wisdom to help the children God has placed in your care! They are precious gifts! We can only teach and love them, too bad we can't make their choices for them. I am seeing that with my adult children. I want to but in and tell them what to do, then I think how often God looks at me in the same way.

Janet I need to do some organizing here! I am starting a womens bible study here in the next couple weeks. That should be good motivation to get organized!

Woody's dr appt went well yesterday. They are changing meds again and looking into puting him into another drug study. I think he should stay on the meds he is on, but he thinks there is going to be the miracale pill out there.

Ben is getting up...

HI girls....you all are so dear to me! It amazes me how we are so intricately connected! Today is one of the last 2 days to work. Its a good thing, eating lunches has gained me ALOT of weight and not getting to Curves regularly = BAD STUFF! blahhhhkk.
Today a storm blew in around 3 and our power blicked followed by a barrage of firetrucks out front. Here the ortho office a few doors up had some freak of nature thing that sucked the front door open, creating a vaccuum of sorts and literally sucked the ceiling down! Praise God nobody was hurt, just kinda freaked out. So that was my excitement for the afternoon. And blessing to be home safely after all that continuos lightning/thunder.

I hope you ladies know that I don't expect you guys to solve all my problems . I use this board as therapy. It helps so much to just get it all out. I know you guys don't know me or my kids personally and don't judge me or my family.

I spent about 3 hours being Zoe's punching bag today. SHe read a long list of complaints and stated that we couldn't love her if we knew the truth about who she really is. Then she tried to push us away by saying all kinds of bad things about herself and her past and things she's done or claims to believe. When we didn't throw up our hands and say "you're rigth. I don't love you anymore. I'm outta here" .... she went back to her hospital room and began throwing furniture. I think the staff finally realized how sick she really is.

Meeting with the hospital staff at 10:30 and I still have no idea what direction we are going to take. There will be a lot of ideas, suggestions, etc and we have to start deciding how we are going to parent her when she leaves the hospital.

Good morning! The boys have today and tomorrow and then SUMMER break. I am ready for the schedule change. Although along with my discipline word came giving Woody his meds at 6am so I will continue to get up early everyday. Isn't it funny when you choose words like that you really are learning to be disciplined.

I need to force myself to go exercise. I just don't want to. I am really feeling the extra weight emoticon Yet even that is not motivating me to move.

Janet you have inspired me to clean out my mail cabnet. I might even do it today!

Dorothy enjoy your golf. After a weekend of temps in the high 90's we are suppose to have storms this afternoon.

Sonya~Just heartbreaking. Zoe and Daysia. I’ll be praying the professionals begin doing the right things for these girls. Thanks for the background on Zoe and her sister.

Finally at the computer to check email, etc. at 9 p.m. As planned we started on the storage room after breakfast and hauled 90% of the stuff out of there. Never did get to the garage or lawn shed. We took a huge load to the thrift store, some stuff to the assisted living place where my dad lives and then got some lunch. Next came emptying the living room into the garage. We had a pile for throwing away and another for trying to put on Craigslist. Mostly...throwing. We now have the truck loaded for the dump! We managed to get enough moved out of storage that we were able to relocate the schoolroom in there. I'll finally have a white board on the wall! I finally can get schoolbooks off my computer/scrapbook desk! Main thing I'll need to do in the new school area is find me a small desk so I can have my laptop there during school hours.

Tomorrow I'll begin the day by mowing the lawn and then I'll clear out some stuff that is still sitting there to go through (photo frames and paper stuff). Then I'll tackle the kitchen. Do have to remember to get Maegann to her last piano lesson for the summer.

Anyway.... SO glad we got rid of all that stuff. 25 years of "treasures." So freeing.....

Sonya - really - and these people have degrees. It really makes me wonder. When my oldest daughte was 16 whe went back to live with her Dad and I know he gave her too much freedom - the good side of it all - she had a good strong foundation so it all turned out well. These kids neeed rules - she is running around having sex because she is so looking for love - of course in all the wrong places. I would definatley not put her on lock down but give her more freedom?? They have no idea what they are talking about. This system has had my nephew locked up since he was 14 because of inapporpiate contact with a girl and now he is convince he is not able to live in society again. It is a screwed up world when these so called experts do more harm than good. My advice - pray - pray to god to give you the wisdom and guidance that you need. He is the only one with the correct answers. And tell those so called experts to go you know where. Soory - it just makes me furious.

Christina - some day I am sure he will thank you. Right now he is at such a rough age - I am sure he wants to fit in with all the so called cool kids. If only he realised where will the be in 10 or 20 years and where will he b. You are doing a wonderful job and his is a very lucky boy. Hugs on the wight. i have been struggling so hard since my brother died. It is just creeping up and I do not know why. I do thin that stress has a lot to do with it and it is our bodys way of protecting us. None the less - it is so frustating.

Janet - as usual you are doing such a good job. Good luck on all of your organizing - I am very envious of you!

Hope everyone ha a wonderful Memorieal Day. Yesterday was a good day in Buffalo with most of my family and watching my grand daughter on stage. Today a family picnic!

Janet - Her doctor in the psych ward said Zoe wants to have a family meeting with us AND the boyfriend and his parents! She acted like it was a perfectly normal thing to approach me with. I feel the same way about her "winning" so she begins to think that she can run away of threaten suicide and we will give in to whatever she is wanting to do. The older sister is around 20. The dad threw her out when she was 15 because she liked other girls. She said Zoe has been running and medicating with abusive relationships as soon as she was old enough to get around the neighborhood alone. She has been placed in this same psych hospital about 4 years ago. We thought that a new life with people who love her would be enough, but it's not and I just don't know how to fix it or how to stop trying to fix it. Control is an illusion that is hard for me to let go of.

The doctor wanted Zoe to be released from the psych ward and come home but both of the therapists we have been working with for months say that is a bad idea. They said she needs to go into treatment. The psych hospital wants to place her in a therapeutic foster home.....OVER MY DEAD BODY! Daysia is in one of those and WE did a better job with her than the therapeutic home. She is only getting worse and I am not going to let Zoe be put back in the system!

Dorothy~That sounded like a very full day! Did you like the Avengers? Glad the procedure went well. Was it painful? Just curious! I would come help you as it would be easier to throw someone else’s stuff out as it has no “memory value” attached! LOL

Sonya~Just out of curiousity…how old is the bio sibling that said “this is the sis I know?” You are right…adopted children “can” push and push and push to have you leave them. I experience that with Isaac off and on already. He also wants to know at times when he will get his next family. As for answers….I know my anger was brewing as I read through your note about what the therapists want you to allow! I just can’t imagine loosening the reigns will work because she wins. To me it says, “I can get my way if….” Why are we not allowed to be the parent?! Also, knowing the info you do about her past behavior from the sister, that clues you in that she will embrace the freedom and do whatever she wants to whether it is harmful to herself or not. Why aren’t they helping her become free from the promiscuity and hold that the boyfriends have on her self worth? Ugh!!! My heart goes out to you. I’ll continue praying!

Christina~Hugs on the weight gain. I’m holding steady at a weight I don’t like myself but am thankful I at least stopped the upward trending this time.

Had a nice afternoon catching up with a good friend while our girls skated. Just a much needed break from the routine.

Tomorrow we’ll be back at the cleaning and pitching stuff as Tim has the day off. We’re starting in the storage room (yeah!!!!!!) and we’re getting rid of at least half of it since we haven’t touched it in over 20 years. Next he wants to finish reorganizing the garage (won’t take that long) and the lawn shed as he just put in a new shelf. The kids are excited about “no school tomorrow.” I told them none as long as they didn’t annoy me! LOL

Christina - I haven't weighed in 2 weeks. I don't even want to know. For the first time in a year I haven't been logging my food. I haven't exercised either . Our lives are in total chaos right now. I am so sorry you are dealing with that type of thinking from your son. Adopted children push and push to see if you will leave them and I am just so tired of trying to prove my love to them. I am so exhausted having to explain them to my friends.

Oh Sonya if only I had the answers! It is so hard to find the balance between controling them and and allowing them freedom to choose. Especially when you know they are not choosing well! My 13 yo has said several times this week that he doesn't want to live a "Godly" life that it won't get him anywhere! He would rather have fun doing his own thing. Saying he doesn't know why we bothered to adopt him anyway. The rebellion is killing me. I'm glad you found her, and I will pray for you to have discernment in setting down rules for her to follow.

Here is my confession. I am up to 198. I am not eating well( obviously). I haven't exercised for several days. I feel like I am on a down hill spiral.

Ok so I need some advice ladies....

Obviously the way we have been parenting Zoe isn't working. We have treated her exactly like one of our birth kids for the past 20 months (since the day she came to us) When she has poor grades she loses her phone (she made AB honor roll the first year she was with us) Her friends can come here but she is only allowed to go to friends houses that we KNOW the parents well (meaning church friends that we have known a long time) internet access is monitored (she was having x rated conversations with boys) and due to her sneaking in her boyfriend, she has been restricted to seeing him only at church and at school.

The therapists are saying that since she has had near total freedom her whole life and basically raised herself that our style is too restrictive. They think we should give her a few basic rules and them just let her make most of her own decisions and suffer the natural consequences. David said that feels like giving up on TEACHING her and PARENTING her. They suggested a curfew, some chore and grade expectations, and ask her to be "safe"

They also feel that taking in the other children is what triggered her behaviors. They said the house is too loud and busy which reminds her of her past life with the birth family. so letting her lose to roam the neighborhood and hang out at friends homes would give her time away from it without her sulking in her room and becoming depressed. These behaviors did show up at about the time the new kids came, but that was also the exct time she started being obsessed with this boyfriend.

Her bio sister came to see her at the hospital and told us that this is the sister she knows. She said this behavior was typical of her at 10 to 13 years old. She obsessed over boys even then and was running away with them and having sex of course bear in mind that she was trying to stay out of her home because she was being physically, verbally, and sexually abused at that time.

We are being told that we should allow the relationship with this boyfriend to continue because if we forbid it things will only get worse, but we can't stand the thought of even setting eyes on that boy or his family. He knew where she was the entire week she was gone. He was sleeping with her every night. HE knew how worried we were and yet denied he knew anything.

I can't figure out what the best approach should be. Our way wasn't working but their way seems like giving up.....

Hello all - sorry i did not make here it here yesterday - turned into a rather busy day. I wored a little in my kithcen and cleaned out my fish tank. IMy side algie eaters had died and it was full of algie - so i cleaned it good and went and bought some more. And then I ran down to my moms and we went down to my brothers house to pst a for sale sign and check on the house. The water is not working. Both my hubby and my brother have been there - guess they never checked those things? So now I need to get them down ther to check it out. My mom said she would help me clean. From there hubby , Michale and I went up to Cahpman Dam and rode on the boat. Micahel went swimming, hubby fished, and I lounged in the shade. From there we went to the drive in and saw the Avengers, Battleship was also playing but we opted to come home as I am heading to Buffalo shortly to see grand daughters dance recital. My porcedure went very well on Friday and now I have to walk around in a stalking for the next week. Then I get the otehr leg down.

Sonya - you have one of the biggest hearts I have ever known - to take in all of those children and trying to help them, and willing to keep your house open to them. Most people and parents would just turn away. I am gad she is safe now.

Heather - safe travels to you and your father. You are such a good daughter.

Janet - do you want to come do my house next. How to get rid of all the stuff that we simply do not use. I just keep putting it back. Silly.

Kelly - how is fish tank doing?? We did not gget any storms but had quited the light show last night at the drive in - some one was getting a storm. It did sprinkle on us and it did rain here at home. I am so glad - we needed it so much. We also had to drive through a soberity check point - it was funny.

Last weeks defeat is a gateway to many victories.

Lord - grant me the Serinity to accept the things I can not change, the Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the differance.

Sonya~So glad you finally had a second to stop in and update us more on Zoe. Such a sad, lost girl right now. I think you are right that treatment rather than home is necessary.

Heather~Enjoy your last day with your dad. Your airport trip does not sound pleasant though!

Kelly~Too funny about Chaz and his banks and robbers! Those questions do get tiring. Hugs! Yeah on selling the Explorer!!

I did get to the gym yesterday and spent a solid 30 minutes on the treadmill. Felt great! I was able to get the Medicaid app turned in as Tim came home earlier than usual. Enjoyed our evening with Jenn and I finally won a game of Catan Settlers!

However, I have not gotten to school planning or scrapping. Today I began the day grocery shopping and then since it was raining I dug into the first couple of areas that needed cleaned out. The hubby chose to do the same and started on his desk area in the office/schoolroom. I got the entry closet reorganized, the game cabinet, my exercise equipment and the video/Wii area done. Between the two of us we filled 2 large trashcans. Pulled out a third! I also have a pile to go to the thrift store. Monday we agreed to tackle the storage room together as I can’t really tackle the school stuff until it is cleaned out as I have nowhere to put things. We agreed most of the stuff has been down there for 15 years or more (untouched) so it’s time to just clear it out. Yes, we have some great textbooks and such but enough is enough. Next on my list is the kitchen. Bye Bye to the things I never use and just move out of the way to get to something else.

Tomorrow afternoon we’ll stay for the picnic after church and then I’ll be taking Maegann skating from 3:30-6:00 with a couple friends. McDonald’s for berry slushies afterwards. That will be fun.

Hi gals. What a HOT Saturday. We open Aunts' pool and I was just wringing wet from sweat and was so tempted to jump in but my fear of water borne illnesses kicked in. Storms rolled in this evening and Liv announced "I don't be scared of thunder no mores". We weathered it out at Moms. Didn't get anything done, but I don't really care. It will all wait on me (although milk and bread would be nice to have for morning)
Doro I'm glad you liked the salmon. I love it! Grilled is good. The only way I don't think I can handle is the smoked cold (stuff they order out of Cabela's)
Janet I fell for you on all the extra stressors of change when handling Isaac....its hard on both of you I bet.
Sonya I think its amazing you can handle all these issues and stay sane!! That girl....I just wish there was a way to teach her all we know in life and make her see she how precious life is. I feel sad forall these lost kids out there and often think how are they ever going to end up productive people. URGH!
Heather be safe on your trip. Hope its not too far. That is very odd they have all those holidays. It made me think of how we are here in the states....people who don't believe in war (amish) having Memorial Day or non Christians going Christmas shopping and not complaining about being off work....weird. Guess folks will use any reason to "celebrate"

Liv is asleep since coming home (7 ish) and Chaz is going to bed. He is fixated on bank robbers and bank accounts. 100 ???s and still going on and on about it. I have NO idea where he even came up with it!....and the barber told him he had his barberpole stolen so we have discussed that to the enth degree. He is getting too smart!! I have to be on my toes more.
Big praise of the day: sold the old Explorer!! Yeah! but then during transfer she said I had to write an explanation of why we sold it for nearly $1000 less than it was worth. I hate knowing that but I'm sure the guy buying felt blessed. Funny how I get "attached" to things...remember taking Fletch in his kennel everywhere I went Maine, NC, and then the kids came home from the hospital....I get too sappy!!! It's just a hunk of metal on wheels Kelly, get a grip!

Janet - good you could find another Taikwando option. Sounds like the schedule will be better for all.

Doro- hope the procedure went smoothly yesterday. What did you see at the drive in?

Lisa - a new puppy? wow how fun but wow a lot of work too. Georgia is a cute name.

Kelly - Salmon and sweet potatoes sounds good.

Christina - Did you wear your floppy hat at the skate park? I saw a lady at a park on Friday with a floppy hat and thought of you.

Had a long but productive Saturday. Tomorrow is Dad's last day. He flies out early on Monday morning. We need to leave our house at 2am for the airport. thought about getting a motel there but don't sleep well in motels so will just stop at a rest area on the way home. Kids have a five day weekend for Pfinsgten (Pentecost). It's so crazy that so many of the holidays here are based on the church calendar but so many have nothing to do with church. Dad has done well here and I think he is rested up and ready to be a caregiver again. I know my sister is very ready for him to be home for mom.

Happy Memorial Day weekend all. Stay out of the sun or use that sun block. emoticon

Finally a chance to update......

Looking over the posts I see that it was a good thing some of us are fcebook friends.... We created a community event to try and find Zoe and Janet was able to keep you all posted.

She was at a house in our neighborhood - a seeminly nice house in a good neighborhood - the poeple moved in a few months ago and have apparently been selling drugs from the house. A Lot of teenaged boys live there with an aunt who told the police detective that Zoe wasn't there. The detective knew from Joeys (Zoe's boyfriend who promised us he would never see her behind our back) mother that he had spent the night there, so the detective asked to come in and look around. He found drugs and heard Zoe in the attic. She tried to find a better hiding place and put her foot through the ceiling.

While the police were rounding up the boys and handcuffing them due to the drug bust, they didn't keep an eye on Zoe. She took a handful of several kinds of pills - they never even saw her do this. Later at the police station, she collapsed. The detective thought she was faking it to avoid being questioned but called 1st responders. She OD'd and very nearly dies. She has bruises on her chest from efforts to save her.

The police had her transported to a hospital that as we later found out does not admit minors so I got a call from Vanderbilt asking my permission to transport her to the ICU. She was there for 2 days and is now in the psych ward.

As a team we feel it best that she goes from there to some type of treatment rather than coming home. All she talks about is Joey. She has all her self worth wrapped up in this one relationship. She knows her Dad is probably not going to allow them to see each other because this was a 4th offense of the dating rules. She only makes small talk with us. I feel so helpless and lost as to how we might help her.

Dorothy~Thinking of you today and praying it all goes smoothly.

Isaac did have to stand outside the studio for a bit (typical) and then he was comfortable enough to move inside near the door. I think it was helpful that he recognized the instructors and knows Mr. Bauder (current teacher) recommended them. It's also going to be helpful that three of the boys from the current class are also planning to switch there so he will know others besides his sister. The classes are on Tuesday and Thursday so will have to switch my mindset from having Monday's. I think that will be better though once co-op starts up again as it made for such a long day for the kids. Another plus is the class is from 5:30-6:30 so it won't be such a late night. They've been going at 7:00. Just switches things up for dinner time.

Heading to the gym sometime today to reacquaint myself with the treadmill. I haven't been spending additional time at the gym other than trainer days due to travel, etc., so need to get that going again.

Only extras this weekend are Jenn coming over tonight for dinner and games (have a roast in the crockpot) and taking Maegann skating with friends on Sunday afternoon. Should free me up to get school planning done (home and co-op music class) and/or scrapbooking.

Janet - that must be very hard on the kids - Michael loves his place he goes to - when his contract is up I always ask him if he wants to try a different one and he says no - he is happy where he is. I grilled samon last night and it was delish. I found out that I like samon - I was prlasantly surprised. I basted it with olive oil, dill, garlic, lemon juice, and salt & pepper. Rice and steamed veggies were our sides - very tasty meal.

Getting ready to wake up Micahel and get ready to head out for my surgery.

Dorothy~I'm tired just reading your itinerary! Beginning to sound like me! LOL Praying your procedure goes easily tomorrow and that it isn't too painful.

Kelly~I'm having fish tonight and need to relocate the last recipe I had tried as it was very good. More like a fried fish coating only it was baked. Wish I had some sweet potatoes to put with it!

We're almost through school today and then I'm heading to the bank to get our cash for the week withdrawn. I meet the trainer this afternoon at 3. Otherwise... nothing on the schedule. Nice! I do want to spend time on school planning as I've got to get our Summer Olympics unit up and running before they begin and Maegann's needing new writing and English/spelling lessons. I also should spend time making phone calls to a couple therapy places just to get an idea of what is out there for Isaac to help with communication and social skills. What do I really want to do? Scrapbook! LOL

Tim's taking the kids to the new Taekwondo studio tonight at 5 to see the place and talk with the instructors. They will come home for supper and then head out for their party with the instructor they've had forever. Sadly he is planning to relocate to another state for work so he's closing it all down. Isaac definitely needs to be familiar with the new studio or Monday will be horrible. Thankfully he "knows" the new instructors as they are always at the belt testing.

Janet - mold is one of my big alergies. When ever they turn on the air conditioners my eyes just burn. I think it is funny that the heat dosen't seem to bother them but the ac is terrible. glad your appointments went well.

Kelly - cute story. We have had very little rain and we really need it. I am watering every night. And I emptied my rain barrel.

Christina - glad to hear Marcus is doing better - poor little guy - what a time.

Tomorrow I go in for my first procedure - Saturday I am planning on taking Micahel to the drive in, Sunday is my grand daughters dance recital in Buffalo, Monday a picnic at my brothers house, Tuesday a follow up appointment, and golf, the following Friday another procedure, Saturday an wedding and Sunday a birthday dinner fo my daughter in Buffalo. emoticon

Sonya - thinking of you - hope you feel better.

Kelly~We tease that rain is the angels doing laundry. I'd always been told the sinus stuff was allergies too so this was interesting about the mold. Especially since we've been doing some work on that in that attic this year. The pool/graduation party sounds fun!

I'm making supper. Salmon and sweetpotatoes. 1st I forgot to put them in the the oven, then forgot to get them out so they are are "blackened".
Janet thats funny how I get it in my head that everyone In CO (or anywhere) knows each other, like its just a small town instead of a state. Glad your levels are OK and they figured out about the mold. Timoften talks about how mold grows in the air ducts...YUK. I wonder if that is Moms problem Chronic cough/sinus. They tell her its asthma. COPD stuff, but I always wondered.
Doro we are getting storms. Liv was crying (afraid) last night and Chaz went over, crawled in bed with her and was telling her how our house is made to protect us from rain and its only God bowling....too cute.
Christina I love how God makes sense of it all for us! High five to you on "eating crow" with gary. It doesn't always taste good going down, but sure is good for us! I would love to go again this weekend but it is crewded everywhere here too and the kids are hard to keep track of. Think we will open Aunts pool and have a graduation party from K for Chaz.

Dorothy~Sorry the rain changed your plans at the golf course. Sounds like your garden is coming along nicely.

Christian~Thanks for the update on JoEllen’s boy.

Saw on Facebook that Sonya now has strep on top of everything else. She also mentioned she got that job she tested for but now she may not be able to accept it.

We made it to the morning appointment on time and had a good visit with the pediatric developmental specialist. Because of that visit I have spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Health & Welfare trying to figure out exactly what we have and why we weren't allowed to apply for Katie Beckett funding. Thankfully I finally got a referral to a certain individual that couldn't understand why we hadn't been allowed to try even if it was rejected. We do have plain ol' CHIP for Isaac so we can have Medicaid pay the difference on anything we do so will start looking into those places soon.

I was then home long enough to get the kids through their basic schoolwork before heading to the Osteopathic doc for my follow-up. Thankfully glutathione levels were back where they should be so he could test me for what is up with my sinuses. Turns out it is a mold allergy so I now have drops to take 3x/day.

Got my Wii Fit Plus done for today so thought I'd spark for a time and then I think I really need a nap. May do that while the kids are watching Leave it to Beaver.

Have Bible study tonight and am looking forward to that.

Good morning girls!

Dorothy sorry the rain interrupted your golf time :( The boys were off school here yesterday, and the weather was PERFECT. We spent a couple hours at the skate park. Ben loves to skate board. He is really good. Marckus has finally recovered well enought to go back to school. He is still having complications with swallowing. JoEllen is touring schools with special ed departments trying to find a good place for him next year. The regular class setting is not working for him. Besides the Downs he is also autistic. It doesn't take much to overstimulate him and he is still nonverbal. The special ed teacher at their home school doesn't know what to do with him. Thanks for asking about him. He is so precious!

Janet You are right on with the over volunteering! I have to be really cautious with that. I was overdoing it back when I first started Sparkpeople 2 years ago. That was one of my goals that first year. My top 2 priorities are home and my church youth.

Time for Woody's meds...

Janet - you are so right - we all need to learn to prioritize. I got a little weeding done last night as I was watering everything. When I got to the golf course it just let loose but I go home and it is blue skys and dry ground. Go figure. I have a couple more plants Iwant to buy and get into the ground yet. Good luck on all of your appointments this morning.

Sonya - thinking and praying for you.

Christina~Nice that you have it all settled regarding the mission. Good that God reminded you of why you began your "at home" career so it could help you prioritize for this decision. One thing Beth Moore mentioned at our conference about volunteering is realizing what our top 2-3 priorities are that God has called us to and not to feel guilty (hindered) about saying "no" to everything else because you can't do it all and do it well. Made me think about my priorities and right now other than family it is definitely homeschooling and the co-op that He's called me to do. Not much time for anything else!

Got Maegann out with me this morning to do some weeding. An hours worth done and probably another 30-45 minutes to go. It rained too much last night for me to be able to mow. Depending on the weather I will try to get out and mow after piano lessons today. The grass has gotten so long due to the fertilizer and it's looooong! Supposed to rain off and on all week so I really need to get it done.

Tomorrow morning we will set out early as Isaac's appointment with the developmental specialist is at 8:30. Lovely morning commute traffic time. ugh! I also have my follow-up with the osteopathic doctor at 11 and should be able to make it. Typically he's running behind by then anyway.

Kelly - was wondering where you were hiding. Sounds like a good camping trip - lol on talking to the strangers - sounds like me too!!

Christina - sounds like it was just what you needed. Glad you were able to get it all figured out. I bet you are so much more at peace with yourself.

Janet - sounds like a nice get away. You are crazy busy as usual.

I mowed and watered plants last night. We only got a sprinkling of the rain that Kelly had. They are calling for it today as well - I hope to get my golf game in.

Our retreat was DVD. the setting was Potters Ranch, The views were spectacular! Lots of horses and wildlife. Very peaceful!

I spent much time in prayer over the mission. The one thought that kept coming back was How much of my time am I willing to sacrifice away from my own boys? 7 years ago I walked away from my career to be home to care for my family. Yesterday I humbly admitted to Gary he was right, that I didn't feel God calling me to be the director of the mission. I should add that he apologized for his reaction too. I am going to coordinate the VBS there and I will likely go back on the board of directors. I really believe I am on the right path. I love teaching the youth and being on that team at my church. I think I can help get some of them involved in mission work at Ida Spence. I am also trying to get a womens bible study going at my house for the summer.

Kelly I LOVE camping! We were thinking about going this weekend, but It will be PACKED all the campgrounds are full. We could stay at oour friends property, but I bet the lake will be crazy.

Janet where will you go in CO? Near Steamboat? It's been raining here all day (glad I was at work and NOT still camp!) It's to be tomorrow too. You can keep those storms out there. Livy has just started the "hating storm" thing. I love the Beth Moore Patriachs study and ...well, I think I like all her stuff really. Haven't been to any in awhile, you and Christina are inspiring me!
Christina that is awesome about that 84 year old! Don't ya just pray to be that graceful and gutsy at that age!! (I would like to be NOW) I LOVE older folks that are able to impart their wisdom. So neat. and WOO HOO on Gary breakthrough! I know thats a great weight off you. So cool how God works in the midst of our dilemnas and then we all the sudden "see the light"! ...and Woody, WOW thats great he is able to just say it like it is. I bet he is awesome to be around.

OH MY.....I was just going to post, but then got sucked into reading. I feel so bad about Zoe. I dont' know how you handle it Sonya!
I just got back from our 1st family camping trip. Great weather, awesome hiking/tubing/lounging/fishing.....too many bad choices of eating and drinking (I hear ya Doro on NOT wanting to get on the truth tellers). We were in motor homes/campers so it was nice and NOT rustic. That made it MUCH nicer on us and kids. Its a special hatch on a famous creek and flyfisherman from all over were there. I love meeting people and sitting by the stream, shooting the breeze with no care in the world. Chaz caught bugs and Liv chatted with everyone. She is so much like me that way LOL Drives Tim crazy. He is so "keep to himself" around strangers. Livy just walks up and and says "excuse me, can you please pick me a flower, catch me a bug....or whatever strikes her fancy at the moment. Nothing wrong with asking for what ya want!!
I missed you gals. We didn't have any electric or cell service for the whole time. I was getting alittle stir-crazy over that, but all was fine (I stress over fires, drownings, fish hooks in eyes) Praise God for His protection all week and NO poison, burns. Tim did cut his hand on a hatchet and had a tick in his belly YUK. I'm getting caught up on camp laundry and Emails....I LOVE being home so I"m happily doing it in my well lit home WITH cell service! NITE

Lisa~Glad Georgia is adjusting well. Glad you had a fun weekend!

Christina~Was your study by simulcast or from a DVD? Glad you enjoyed it so much! Mine was amazing as well. Was interesting to learn how she comes up with the material for each city on the Live! Tour. She prays and asks God for “a word.” 99% of the time she gets one followed shortly by a city name. It hasn’t failed her yet to speak on the word given. Ours was “unhinder.” I liked the Friday night segment more than Saturday. A lot more “meat” to it on Friday, but wouldn’t have missed any part of it on Saturday either.

Busy day here even without the mowing! We worked on school for a time and then headed out for our haircuts. Once home we finished school and this afternoon/evening I worked on food prep (made baguettes to go with the spaghetti), got my Wii Fit time in and co-op business done. Have all the final details out there to the members so now it is just gathering a few odds and ends of info prior to registration.

Tim is doing well. He went to work for most of the day and finally stayed home at 3 to put his leg up.

We're supposed to have some thunder storms tonight and then cooler temps for the next several days so hopefully I can get out and mow in the morning. If not...I just switch tasks between weeding and mowing.

We've decided to head to Colorado mid-June to visit Tim's mom and family. Yep...the cousins are coming too. We'll go on a Monday and return on a Thursday so won't be too lengthy.

I can't believe I didn't make it back until now! The weekend was amazing! We learned about loving the difficult people. Beth Moore is so fun to listen to! It had been about 2 years since I had done one of her studies. We laughed and cryed. There were 78 women on the retreat. It was funny that most of us went to the Lakeside campus and yet we didn't know each other. I had the privalige of sitting next to an 84 yo lady who was so inspiring! She was so wise and humble. She eventually shared that she had founded an organization called Enough is Enough to help teach and protect children from internet pronography. She was so inspiring and encouraging to me! Oh yea she did the zip line before she left on Sat.

Sonya I am so glad you found Zoe! I am praying she is ok.

Dorothy Im so glad you had a nice weekend! It sounds like fun.

Wow! So much going on lately on the boards. Prayers that Zoe is doing okay. Janet I can't find time to cook and you are making muffins before dinner? Wish I had your energy.

So our new addition to the family Georgia (8 week old Boxer) is adjusting well. She is super sweet and is getting the hang of going to the door to go outside. We have had two accidents in 5 days so I'm pretty happy with that. The kids are in heaven having a dog. I am looking forward to her being big enough to take on a walk.

Did okay sparking over the weekend. Went to a 1 year old birthday party that was catered with Bison burgers, Salmon, Chicken CoqueVin (however you say that...lol) and other fancy stuff. I found it ironic that it was a 1 year old's birthday and there were no hot dogs, pizza, finger foods, it was really just adult foods. The food was okay, I really liked the Bison burgers.

I worked outside today getting flower pots ready for flowers and sweeping the pool deck, hoping the husband will finally uncover the pool.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Lisa

Christina~How was your weekend studying with Beth Moore? I blogged about my conference a little. I'm still processing the how of throwing off hindrances.

Sonya's facebook showed that Zoe was found in an attic somewhere. No other details, just lots of happiness that she was discovered.

Spent a few hours this afternoon printing out more photos to put in my growing stack of "to scrapbook." I'm finding more time during the days now so may actually get going on it this week. I did have to make a Taekwondo page for Tim to take tomorrow night as the instructor is leaving and Thursday is their last class. The parents are putting a scrapbook together for him and getting him a gift certificate. Now the price goes up to keep the kids in Taekwondo at a different location.

Need to make some muffins and cookies for snack stuff. Guess I'll go do that since I have time before dinner.

Back from my wine weekend - it was so much needed. Came home to a quiet home - Mike and Michael are fishing so I have been getting bills done - ugh - laundry done - ugh - dishes done - ugh - and my unpacking done. We hit 23 wineries in 2 days - the trick - drink lots of water. I don't even want to get on the scale tomorrow!

Sonya - i hope the turnout was good for the Zoe search. So very sad. Praying for you.

Janet - glad you had a good conference and that Tim came out of surgery OK. I ahve my first procedure done on Friday.

Christina - hope your trip is going well as well.

Sonya~Does your gut instinct tell you that she's still in town? Just curious.

Had a wonderful time at the Beth Moore conference. Topic was hindrances or rather getting rid of them. The praise band/singers were awesome too. The only bad part of the conference...it got over too quickly. LOL

Maegann's off to see the Lorax and have a soda at Carl's Jr. with her Sunday School class. She's come a long way to be able to feel comfortable doing that with this group!

Isaac is not that pleasant to be around. Too tired still from yesterday so the autism really shows up strongly in his attitude/behavior.

Tim's doing well and barely taking ibuprofen for the pain. He has a high pain tolerance level so that may be part of that.

Sonya~Still praying for Zoe's safe return and the search efforts.

Christina~Have fun!!! We'll definitely swap Beth stories! I've got my notebook, Bible, pen and tickets ready to go!

We finally got out of the hospital about 10:30 and then stopped at the same McD's so Tim could have breakfast. Tim's getting around well and finally needed a pain pill about 1. The knee was so bad they could only do the cleaning and then he'll go in and have a cartilage injection in a few weeks. He's got bone on bone in one spot and quite a bit of arthritis. The good news is he'll only have a two week recovery instead of eight, but that is bad news too as it means this is a temporary fix once again. At some time way in the future he has a knee replacement to look forward too. Thankfully kids will be able to take care of him easily tonight and he'll be driving by tomorrow.

I did get about a 45 minute nap this afternoon so that will help me get through the evening and I don't want to miss a minute of my Beth Moore conference! Heading out in little over an hour to pick up my Subway sandwich and head to church to meet my friend and catch the church shuttle bus.

A frustration for me right now is for whatever reason this bloating is not going away and I can't get into my jeans comfortably. I've been drinking so much water and not eating salty foods but nothing is shaking it. I also showed a 6 lb. gain since the 3rd of May and that's just not possible with my exercise and how I've been eating. Very odd. Very frustrating.

The wait begins. Got here at 5:30 and headed to McDonalds at 6:30. Now we are doing school in the waiting area. Cartoons in the backround as there are about 5 little ones. One very loud mom too.

So tired. Got up at 4:30 and just wasn't ready for the day. Will grab a nap sometime.

Sonya - emoticon emoticon What a wonderful community your must live in. I am so happy that you have many people reaching out to help you. I can not even begin to imagine how frightening it must be. I will be praying for you. Again - I can't even imagine the emotions you must be cycling through! emoticon

Janet - I hope all goes well for Tim today. Good luck with the kids at the hospital. The couple of times I took Micahel with me for Mike's surgeries - he was not patient at all and could not understand why we could not be out exploring while dad was in surgery.

So ready for my mini vacation. I got al my plants I bought planted yesterday so I will make sure to water them all well befor I leave.

Police have exhausted every lead and have sent her photo and story to the media. The media are now calling the police and giving them contact information asking if we will do an interview. We did one tonight...so draining. Our community has been amazing. Near strangers brought us dinner to feed an army tonight and more are coming to tie yellow ribbons around our trees tomorrow. We have been told dinner will be provided through the same group of people through the weekend. Friends are sharing her photo and story all over facebook.

It is hard not to bury myself in emotional eating so I have been spending my days at my best friends house who has lost 75 pounds and is my "coach" I pack a lunch so that I am not tempted to snack all day.

Christina~I wondered about the eliptical so I'm glad that's an option for you. I guess our conference is called "Living Proof." Funny that we're both going to be studying under Beth Moore this weekend. And you are in the drama huh? Fun!

Dorothy~Enjoy your weekend on the Erie wine tour!

Opting not to skate today. I've got some definite aches and pains that need rest so I'm going to listen and just watch the kids again. We'll go to lunch afterwards since we get done at noon and then I need to stop by the nutrition store for a couple of items.

Tomorrow will be an early day getting Tim to the hospital by 5:30. Kids can't be in pre-op so once he's taken back we'll head out for breakfast and get schoolwork done. I'll have them take books/notebooks with them for the rest of the wait.
