Lisa~I have not had time to put together virtual vacations for a few months. Now that co-op is done for the summer I might have time! But even so...I forgot to start May! LOL Good to see you here!

Kelly~So glad you enjoyed Steamboat. It's a neat area isn't it? One of my best childhood friends still lives in Craig. One of my first loves was from Craig. Aahhhh.....memories!

Had a nice day. The chocolate ice cream was so creamy!! We all enjoyed our new recipe very much. This afternoon I stayed away from the computer and had planned to scrap but decided I better get Isaac's shorts hemmed as they've been sitting there for several months. So I got them all sewed except my machine, as much as I love it, won't sew through the thick, thick doubled up seams from blue jeans. That means I am sewing those sections down by hand and that fabric is just tough to get a needle through! I did get 2 1/2 pairs finished before my fingers were just worn out. Will finish them tomorrow. I am going to try and take time each day to scrap though. If I just get started I can get through that years worth of photos in a month.

Tomorrow I meet the trainer at 11 so will head out from the house about 10:30 so I can walk on the treadmill prior to my 30 min. with her. Starting a new Bible study in the evening but won't have the book until then so no preparation needed. That means SCRAPPING TIME! Whoo Hoo!

Okay...off to start the May thread.

Hi girls...I'm back!! I see I missed a ton! trying to catch up.
Pat hi...hugs on lying. So far I haven't had too much dealings with it with my kids. Ages 4 and 5 are pretty obvious lies and usually are more imagination things. Chaz is big on stating "she's lying" everytime Liv tattles on him. My brother went through a teenage stage of it and I remember him losing tv/game time. He ended up learning how to "sneak" as a result and could probably get a job as a spy with all the gadgetry he concocted to watch tv. Not sure the best route to go on like you said...they are all so different
Janet. I never heard of that before. Very interesting....so how are you feeling now?
Colorado was AWESOME. I noticed everyone was so nice. Not one rude person in Steamboat Springs. and they are so healthy!! Biking hiking walking. No smoking that i saw. The gas station sell granola. I've NEVER seen anything like it. Tim wanted potato chips and was hard pressed to find any! I was looking for cheesecake and the girl wasn't sure what I meant...found some at a sports bar but it was moldy. Thats one way to save calories
Hiked the fish Creek falls 3 miles up to 9880' elevation and back down then hit the Strawberry park hot springs...AAAAHHHHHH 3 hrs of heaven. A gal talked me into a polar plunge into the snow melt runoff river. BRRRR but GREAT! I loved it. May be teh neatest thing I've done since giving birth!!
so glad everyone is keeping the Spark going in our chat!! looking forward to getting back in the swing of things

Kelly

Hi Pat!

Speaking of LYING, UGH! I just got out of the principals office at the middle school. The one I mentioned earlier today has detention on friday for being dishonest with the principal and creating drama. I need a nap! Still have a band concert to go to after dinner.

Pat~Nice to see you stopping by.

Christina~Glad the weekend was so much fun.

Dorothy~Glutathione is basically a self produced antioxidant that keeps everything running well. Levels can be altered by infections, cancer, stress, trauma, radiation, medications, age..... It can affect your liver function. Hoping two injections will be enough to help. Doctor thinks my birth control pills could have caused this. Have fun golfing!!!

Nothing much planned here today except school, piano, treadmill and making ice cream. My headache is trying to come back so I'm drugging up for that. Also thinking it is coming from my shoulders some so will try to spend less time at the computer.

Got my thank you cards written for the co-op leaders last night and have my list of things to buy on Friday for gifts. Just need flowers mostly and a few coffee cards. I got the program printed last night so now I just need to make copies. Will probably go to Office Depot and do them as it will be quicker.

Hello ladies, although I've checked in on you from time to time, I've not taken the time to write.
Hope things are going well in your lives!

Janet, I feel for you! Lastnight, one of our children admitted lying to us, and the hardest thing about dealing with it is HOW DUPED WE WERE BY HIM! He is too good at faking! It breaks my heart for the pain he's brought into his life by his choices, but pain is what it takes for humans to break stride, and give due consideration to our actions.

I wish I could say that I know of a tried and true consequence that made the difference, but with 7 children now over voting age, I can only say they are each so different and require different methods! For us this time, electronics is the obvious thing that will be restricted, for starters.

But the other thing that we will be addressing is building our relationship with him. He's very independent and we've not done very well engaging him lately. With God's help, we'll do better.

Other than that, things are cooking along at the Christopherson villa!

Blessings,
Pat

Sonya - Glad you were able to get some air cleared. Good luck on your new program!!

Janet - yes I do have a lot o gardens and constantly making new ones. Glad you are feeling better. What is glutathione?? So tough when our kids let us down. Have not really ever confronted my kids about lying that I can remember but let them know if I thought they were not telling me all the correct facts.

Golf starts tonight - yea - my clubs are in the van and I am ready to go - just have to work first - lol!!

Sonya did you ever look into becoming a thereaputic foster parent? I know states are different, but here theraputic agencys have a worker that comes every week, we had a 24 hour call line for emergencies that someone ACTUALLY answered.

Janet I do deal with the lying, but havent found a cure! It is so frustrating. Then you never know when they are really telling the truth.

Camping was great the weather was perfect! It was too short though! Life is so busy here, I am ready for a real vacation. We have 20 days of school left.

Dorothy~You must have a lot of gardens!

Sonya~That's just crazy! Ugh!!! Glad you got some things worked out with the case supervisor.

Christina~How was Cumberland?

Heather~Are you still in U.S.?

Doctor appointment went okay. My glutathione level was shot so I had to get an IV to detox things and get it built back up. I will get a second one on Thursday and then schedule an appointment to get checked further. However, since the IV my headache is 99.9% gone, my tendonitis is better and my sinus congestion has lessened a lot. It has left me quite tired though so I will be taking a nap here soon. Just need to get Maegann's friend gone first. Her mom should be coming for her anytime.

We're dealing with Maegann lying to us last week so I shouldn't have allowed Grace to come over, but it was so automatic and Sara and I have been trying to get the girls together for so long. (They are from co-op.) Friends was part of the consequence given. Unfortunately she told another lie out of fear of being in trouble today so now she's going to lose electronics for a time as well. If you've dealt with one of your kids lying what type of consequences or actions seemed to help break the cycle?

off to a great start. I registered for the beachbody challenge last night and took beginning photos. Got up this morning and went and worked out at my friends house. Drank a protein shake and 3 servings of water. Now I am going to push mow the lawn.

Spoke with the new foster mothers case supervisor. She is a Centerstone approved home rather than a DCS one. We were able to clear the air about several things. I also think she will help me to communicate with DCS. She told me it was totally inappropriate for the new foster mom to ask me to get Daysia a phone and to tell Daysia that she can't call us from her phone because it is long distance.

Hope you ladies had a wonderful weekend. Check out Richards video that I linked in my last post. If seeing it doesn't motivate you I don't know what could!

Sonya - I am speechless. Can't beleive that her first line was "this is whre I get angry" - give me a break. I got angry reading it - can't beleive what you have to go through. emoticon How did the visit go? Good I hope.

Janet - Hope your appointment goes well and that you get the anwers that you are seeking. An ongoing headach is no fun!

I almost have all my gardens mulched - two truck loads and we are still not done. Wow - I don't know who made so many flower gardens - lol!!! I think one more load of manure and one more of m ulch and we will be done. Can't understand why I am so tired - lol!! Micahel had a good time camping with the boy scouts - yea!

after asking last week (email ignored) then again this week why no one has set a meeting time for our visit....
DCS:
However, if he (the man who had been calling us to set up the visits) would like to call me please feel free to give him my number. From my the information I was able to look up, our fiscal department only approved 4 hours. This may be sufficent for one maybe two visits but we are not submitting another request for Kids 1st to continue to particapte in these theraputic visitation due to the fact that we have a foster mother who is trained to conduct such visits. (Note: the woman had already asked me if she could just drop her off and leave)
A lot of our theraputic homes have theraputic visitations that are supervised by the foster parent(s) because they are trained to do such tasks and this is one of those cases.

ME:
I just spoke to Mr. %$$#@@$. He is going to attempt to call the foster mom and adjust the time of the visit to 12:30 at the same location.... It was his understanding that Kids First was hired in order to assure 3rd party supervision and therapy. I am CC'ing him in an effort to streamline our conversation.

MY husband:
the foster mom told Sonya that she has never done a supervised visit and she asked Sonya if she had to stay for the visit or if she could just drop Daysia off. We told her that we thought the person from kids 1st would be calling to set up the visit. It is clear to us that she is unaware that she would be facilitating the visit.

The foster mom's agency person (now 3 agencies involved in this):
I was told at the cftm that someone would contact me to schedule the visits. When you and I spoke last week I told you that nobody has made contact with me in reference to the visits. We discussed last week it was a one time service because we were unsure of her placement. The foster mother scheduled a visit last Friday with Mrs. Sherman (previous foster parent). The visit will be held on the 28th at the Springfield McDonald's. Linda has been therapeutically trained to supervise visits. If anyone has any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. Thank you.
DCS
I believe Daysia's foster mother will be doing the supervision of the visits because she is trained in theraputic supervise visitation. I though it was agreed upon that the visit would be this Saturday in Springfield. Is this not correct? Do you not have the contact number for Daysia's foster mother?

ME:
I just wish we had known this. We have been getting calls from him each Thursday, so we thought we had to wait for him to set up visits. I finally called the foster parent myself.

Thanks for the clarification.

DCS: now this is when I got ANGRY
What is it that has been confusing? I have been available by phone or email this whole time to answer any questions or to provide clarification regarding the whole matter. If you was unable to contact me then my supervisor, could have been contacted about this case because she knows all about this case as well.

Now that the visits of who will supervise, when, and where has all been worked out hopefully this will no longer be an issue. As well as Daysia speaking with her siblings on the telephone is no longer an barrier as it has been.

We are still attempting to reunify Daysia with her siblings so they can all reside under one room as a whole family. However, if at anytime you feel that reunification in your home with Daysia is not a possibility please let us know so that we can make other arrangements.

MY NOT SO NICE I DON'T CARE ANYMORE REPLY......
I have no idea where you are coming from with all of this.

The confusion has been that the same man has called me every week to set up visitation. We have not been told until last night that he is not the person to do so. No one notified us who the contact would be. No one notified us each time Daysia moved. No one called us to give us the new foster parent information. No one told us which agency was taking over Daysia's case management. No one has told us who her therapist is or how to contact that person and ask how her therapy is going, or even if we are allowed to do so. Each of Daysia's foster parents had been contacted by the same man from Kids First. There was no reason for us to think that he was not the one who should be contacting us since no one else was communicating with us. Each week we have been willing and able to have a visit and each time the other foster home said they were either not aware that a visit should be scheduled or already had plans. There was no reason to contact you or Shelby, when the therapist from Kids First was telling us that he was the person to make these arrangements. I do not see that there was anything more that we could have done.

Obviously, our goal as a team is to reunify our family. We were told at the CFTM that this case is being treated as if we are already a family and that Daysia is being moved because of her behaviors in order to get her the additional therapy and focus that she needs to get well so that we can be reunited. Why would you say to me "if at anytime you feel that reunification in your home with Daysia is not a possibility please let us know so that we can make other arrangements?" It is very hurtful to read that. Because we are already a family, as discussed at the removal CFTM, I am asking would you have said this to a birth parent?

We have never been in the position of being similar to a birth family. We have no idea what the proper protocol is for such a relationship with the agencies involved. Do we call Centerstone and ask for progress updates? Should someone be calling us? We were told that communication should be therapeutic. What does that really mean? Does it mean that therapy will take place at the visits? How much is within our control as her family since she is living somewhere else for the time being?

We are very much looking forward to our visit tomorrow as we have each week since Daysia left.

And so the DCS drama goes on. I just didn't think you'd even believe she said that to me unless you read it for yourself.

Dorothy~I'm guessing your bike rack flips down too so you can get into the van door? The girls bikes are more difficult to place on this one as well. Tim's out with Maegann right now buying new tires for my old bike. They were just shot. We got the bike from a pawn shop for $25 and it's not the prettiest thing, but it is worth over $120 new so figured we could spend $40 on tires. You sound like you'll be one busy lady the next month...at least on the weekends huh? Your three winery tour sounds like fun!!!

Isaac has a friend over this afternoon from church and they are out running in the barnyard. Maegann's with Tim running errands so I'm enjoying the unexpected quiet. My ongoing headache sure likes that! I'm loving the fact that I don't have to get stuff together for co-op tomorrow! Whoo Hoo!

Have my appt with the Osteopath at 9:30 tomorrow and I'm sure he can tell me what's up with the sinuses and headaches. Also need to discuss the progesterone stuff with him. I hate talking about that sort of thing!

Janet - it sounds like the bike rack I have - it hitches to a hitch and carries 4 bikes. It is hard to get girls bikes on it though - perfect for mens bikes. My hubby got it for me when we went to NY city on our bike ride and we all rode in my van. It was perfect. Funny about Carrie. I have a freind named Gail and we call her Gail McCoy "our cruise director" because she is so good in organizing girls getaways. Sounds like a good night. Thanks for the prayers - he needs them - he does not have any problems - just everyone around him does.

I have actually organized a girls weekend away on an upcoming wince and chese weekend. It should only cost us each around $70.00 plus whatever anyone wants to spend on wine. 21 winerys in three days - piece of cake!! Yesterday after m y nepews birthday party I took my mom to two local winerys - she was no fun and was afraid I was going to get drunk. They give you a taste - not a glass full - that is why they call it tasting. Too funny!! I had wanted to hit a third winery but decided it was time to take her home. I just seldom have time like that - right now my next 5 weekends are booked - ugh. I did manage to get 2 loads of mulch yesteday - one is sppread - will work on the other one today and got the lawn mowed. (I even mowed the lawn after coming home from the winerys - lol)

Kelly - hope you are enjoying your getaway.

Christina - hope you are enjpying your getaway as well.

Sonya - hope your weekend is going well without too much drama. I really don't know how you handle it. My stomach gets so upset everytime I have drama to deal with.

Dorothy~Will just have to keep praying for that hubby of yours. Glad Michael got off to his trip!

Mom's night was very fun and thankfully my headache had lessened quite a bit so I could enjoy it. Carrie (we call her our party girl...she's our social activities director) had it had her house and had invited the mentoring co-op mom's to come too. There were about 30 people there!! Only about 10 of us from our own co-op. It was fun getting to know the others and they enjoyed hearing about the new co-op as well.

This morning I woke up with the headache again but got through everything I needed to anyway. Groceries, lawn mowing (thankfully it had dried off enough I could mow), floors swept and laundry. I also got a ton of emails answered that were coming in regarding co-op stuff and have everything done on the program for Friday night except for one thing from the drama teacher.

Tim found a great deal on the bike rack for the van on Craigslist. A $250 rack (carries 4 bikes) for $95. Now he's on the hunt for new tires for my bike as they are cracking everywhere and constantly going flat. Will be fun taking lots of bike rides in McCall in a couple of weeks!

Sonya - kick them in the a... and then kick them in the other a.... if only it was that easy. I have a brother with a son that got into "trouble" as a young teenager - he has been in the system ever since and has been so brain washed that he is unfit for society. It just kills me - how do you fight it. How do people have the right to take away young teenagers and lable them. And how to people have the right to threaten to take away your children and reuinit them with a threat. Our systems suck and they need to be changed. These pople have to much much "power" and I wish I knew how to fight it!! Hugs and prayers are sent your way.

Janet - if only we knew the answers to it all. I hear you on the smog in our brains - sometimes it is hard to think straight when you are so called "normal" - can't imagine what it is like to have wires crossed. Too bad each child did not come with an owners manual - lol!!! Hope you enjoy your weeknd and that moms night was fun!!

We got Micahael sent safely on his fishing trip. Hubby said he was going to go today but right now he is sleeping. Talk about messed up - he is going through so much and he responds to it negatively. Wish he would open his eyes and see the streched out hand trying to help him!!

Sonya~Sorry to hear there continues to be drama surrounding Daysia. Hugs!

Christina~Enjoy your weekend! Hope you're taking a good book to read while sitting by the lake.

Dorothy~I've never heard of Arnica. The constant moving of things has stopped so maybe it has run its course for now. Whew! I hear what you're saying about the meds. I know there are times Tim and I talk about how confused our brains get...can't imagine being locked inside a body with a brain wired totally "off" in certain ways.

Woke up with a headache today and I'm trying hard to fend it off so it doesn't become a full-blown migraine. Lots of water, sinus saline, ibuprofen.... I have Mom's Night this evening and I want to be able to enjoy it! LOL

Heading to the gym earlier today as I need to take the van to U-Haul at 3 to meet Tim. He's having a bike hitch installed. We have gone back and forth on this one and are finally getting it done so we can have our bikes in McCall in a couple of weeks for our timeshare week. We've missed the winter activities this year so will need something else on the schedule for outings. This year I'll remember my gym clothes too as they have a great fitness center on site too in the same building as the pool. I'm looking forward to the week away.

Sonya emoticon osrry to hear you are upset about Dalysia. It just is not fair but glad that your last couple of days were very porductive.

Christina - gotta love families and all of the twists and turns we have to make. Hubby started asking all kind of questions about Micahels fishing weekend with the boy scouts - sure wish he would have gone to the meeting.

Janet - good thing you are so organized with all that you do. Maybe it is time to put Issac on meds if he is having trouble on concentration nad moving things. I am not a pill pusher but sometimes they just need help pulling there thoughts all together. I bet is is just a humbled mess in there and he has trouble sorting it all out. I amsure you will get it all figured out.

Kelly - I am sure it will be a wonder get a weekend even if the weather does not cooperate.

Has anyone ever tried Arnica - it is some kind of herbs that the Circulatory Drs are recomending I use. Have to get Micahel all packed and ready to go after work.

Sonya I love hearing about the doors that are opening for you! Maybe you can help make a difference in all the red tape, atleast for future foster care.

After we planned this weekend in Cummberland Matt came home Wed night with a field trip paper for Sat. (he FORGOT to give it to me) NO Pressure right! I made arrangements for Mollie and Joe to take care of him for the weekend and the rest of us are off to Cumberland later today. It seems to be never ending around here! Constant obstacles. Matt turned 14 yesterday and he loves his new fender bass! I made him a homemade choc chip cheese cake it ws delicious! ( i only had very small piece and demand it be gone before I get back:)

Went to the last day of the DCS quality control event today. We worked as a team (one of almost every position) to come up with some solutions. The leader brought in a foster parent advocate application and asked me to fill it out. She wanted to take it to the lead advocate who is in the hospital. The lead advocate has had several strokes and may need to choose her own replacement. I don't know what might happen, but everyone there said they wish they could work with me more often and several asked for my resume....... I got to present some of our findings to the commissioner and some of her assistants.

You don't even want to know about the red tape and issues with Daysia right now. i am so upset I can't even type it right now.

Christina~Glad God provided you the Words you needed today. I keep hearing "find your joy in Me" this morning and I'm trying! I sure wish Buddy and Mark hadn't chosen to walk away from the show. They could have stopped this final 3 from being there. Just doesn't feel like the deserving people are in those places except for Kim. I liked Jeremy more than Conda all along until he started showing his behaviors were just like hers. I had hoped he'd place final 2 and not his sister. Doubt she would have won her spot back to be in the top 3.

Dorothy~We don't have Isaac on medications. Even the specialist said at this time it isn't something we need to think about as he is so high functioning. Foods have helped the most so maybe I need to look at his diet and see what he's missing or getting too much of. Good idea! Thanks! LOL

All you ladies and your packing for trips and/or camping! Because of that I got my application done for volunteering at summer camp the end of June. Maegann wants to try kids camp (boys/girls) this year and I refuse to be a counselor again. I am praying for kitchen staff. At least I could be with adults instead of hormonal tweens! LOL

Little boy is still at it strong and hard today. My fun today came with math again. I almost dread new concepts because it is just predictable. Instant shut down and telling himself he can't do it. I don't hear the words...I get the tears and autistic hands to the ears/face that says "I'm not listening." Of course TOM doesn't help my patience level either. emoticon

Had planned to mow today so I guess I'll find the dusty treadmill later this afternoon instead of going to the gym. I have a gym day tomorrow afternoon. Also want to try a new bread recipe for Baguettes to go with spaghetti.

Tonight while the family is at Taekwondo I am hoping to get all the co-op stuff out of the way for registration in June. The email will be quick to the whole group and to the pending members. The sign-up sheets actually won't take too long either since I have a version of them in the computer already that we used for interest. Just have to weed out the classes we didn't select. Would love to have everything printed and just waiting for June.

Okay...off to find my joy.

Christina - funny how he answers you when you least expect it. My scale was not budging so I bumped up the activiety - I think I see it wavering now.

Janet - maybe he needs his medicine adjusted. My sister is on a lot of medicine and sometimes when hers gets messed up we will find bananas in the freezer and ice cream in the fruit basket. Wires just get miss wired. Cute story about Utah.

Sonya - hooray - I hope they are truly listeneing. Can't beleive how many doors have opened for you lately.

Kelly - get your packing done - always makes me laugh when the schools jump the guns. Ours did not cancell school on Tuesday because they haad used up all the days they had planned on and they did not want to add a day on at the end of school. So I guess our childrens lives come in second?? Luckily for us it was not bad in town but the outlying area had lots of accidents!

Planning on Strenth exercise at noon and spinning after work. Micahel has karate tonight and I will run to the store after I drop him off. We have to get his stuff ready for camping too!!
Have a great day all!!

Had to come back and share part of my devotional after complaining about the scale... The prayer drear Lord, your peace is what I plead for today. I don't want my focus to be on food, a number on a scale, insecurity, or inadequacy. I want my focus to be on you. That is where I will find true peace.
Isn't that true!!! I'm not gonna let that scale steal my joy:) I will press on toward the goal. Now I'm really going to exercise

Here I am procrastinating the exercise again:)
I was completely disappointed with the BL! I am cheering on Kim!!
Sonya it is great that you are able to give your side to the state! We have a program here with a foster parent review board.
I'm gonna go move... I'm not happy with the scale!! I have been tracking daily and staying in range, but not moving down:( I really need to
Drop 10 just so I can button my pants! 20 so I'm comfortable again

Kelly~You're going to have so much fun on your vacation and so will the kids on theirs. LOL I finally have the financial piece figured out for help with Isaac but I need time to start making phone calls and figuring out what/where to do since we're on our own coordinating it now. Some days I will admit....I don't handle it very well. Sigh. I'll have to post the recipe sometime for you.

Hi girls...Christina Mom is keeping them. Funny how they think they are the ones going on vacation and mom and dad HAVE to go somewhere else...hehe! I love this age! I'm the one who will miss them. They will be fine without us a few days. I am realived NOT to have them in the planes and airports yet. My stress factor would be maxed out I think.....So what is up with the hair thing? Do you think you would be able to "blend" it or do a wacky hairstyle thing to make it look right? I feel for him. I think it would be hard at any age to deal with inconsiderate comments. At least his hair will grow back...and even if it doesn't, he still has a personality unlike the nasty kids. (Mom always turned things around like that)
Sonya such redtape you navigate! Are they offering you some work, or is this all just volunteering inp[ut on your end? They should pay for your expert opinion!!
Janet. I would me looking like Matthew (ppulling my hair out) if I were in your shoes...If I could find them LOL How on earth do you deal with that???? Do you have any services available to you to help him/you? YUM on that chicken. I need to get some good recipes for chicken I never really seeem to like it at all anymore.
Doro It was nice here today. Calling for rain and canceled the school fun activity day for tomorrow due to weather we don't even have yet...and I was off work. Since we are leaving tomorrow night, I am thankful I had it planned to be off. Now I might actually get a bag packed. I'm so glad you are back to kickin' butt in the gym!! Makes me smile

Sonya~I pray that truly are listening to you. That the people on the front lines aren't validated at times just drives me nuts!

Dorothy~The moving stuff doesn't make any sense at all, but he is totally obsessed with it. I timed him on Tuesday and he spent a solid hour in his room just moving stuff around again. Today I kept him busy with other things so he didn't have much opportunity, but maybe it would have been better with his attitude about everything in life. Tonight while I was at Bible study I guess he just kept it all going and Tim sent him to his room. Not too much later he came out with his backpack on and a ball cap over his eyes heading for the garage. When Tim asked him where he was going he said, "Utah." LOL Tim told him to go put his things away and get his pajamas on. Anyway, just odd behaviors since this last growth spurt.

The orange chicken with jasmine rice was SOOOOOO good and so easy to make!

Some DCS folks had been calling me for weeks asking that I come and be part of a quality improvement meeting for 3 days this week. I told them I just couldn't without help for the child care. They finally worked it out yesterday so that I could attend one day with paid child care. I went today. I was the only resource parent participant. They really listened to me and David joined us after lunch. They plan to implement some of my ideas and I was asked for a resume and several people asked for my contact info. It was really nice to feel valued by DCS (for a change) They begged me to come back tomorrow so I am going to try and workout child care since GRace will be at mothers day out from 9 till 2 anyway....

Christina - poor Matt - middle school is so hard anyway! Are you getting excited about getting awake for the weekend?

Kelly - I bet you are. It was a lot nicer today - still on the cold side but lots of sunshine. I think it made it back into the 50's.

Sonya - I know it will all work out for the best. Hate it when we have to cut back more on eating - just is not fair.

Janet - That is some moving stuff Isacc has been doing - does any of in make sense?? Hope you and Megheann get the muffins figured out. Glad your garden did not get destroyed.

Went to spinning and strength class tonight - I am sweaty and stinky - need to hop in the shower. Hope you all have a good night!

Kelly~You'll feel better if you exercise as at least one piece of the puzzle is in place today. I hear you on the frustration of standing still on that scale. It's frustrating!

Christina~Poor Matthew and his hair.

We had a major storm blow through in the afternoon yesterday and I'm thankful we got the lesser of it. We had wind and heavy rains with the thunder/lightening. In a neighboring town they had 1 1/2" hail with even stronger winds that knocked out the power. Could you just imagine our new plants in the veggie garden with that type of hail? So thankful we were spared that! More storms due this afternoon. Sort of glad...I feel stormy.

Yep...TOM found me today so at least now I know why I'm a bit impatient with everything. Nice that this cycle was "normal" which is translated a month since the last spotting occurred. Also nice it waited one day so I could get through the annual check at the OBGYN yesterday.

School was a struggle with little boy today. He just went through a behavioral growth spurt and what has come out from it hasn't been pleasant overall. The selfishness has intensified for one thing. The other is just annoying. He's become obsessed with moving things in his room. He'll spend hours moving things. I finally set the law down on his clothes as he couldn't find anything when needed. Yesterday when I found one shoe on the top shelf of his closet and one in a drawer that was the last straw regarding the clothing. ugh!

Going to try a new orange chicken recipe tonight.

Oh....Loser....I was rooting for Michael to take that third spot. NOT happy with two of the final three at all. Go Kim!

Happy Wednesday !

Kelly I am so excited for you! I love weekend getaways with Gary. So the kids will be with your mom? How are they feeling about you going?

I'm headed to workout, although I'm sorta feeling like what's the point! I'm not going anywhere with this weight. Just weighed and still 195 :(.. I am so frustrated! I'm still tracking this week.

Matthew is having hair loss. He has a big patch right in front with no hair, we are going back to the dr today. Middle school is so hard and cruel anyway, this is not helping!

Christina~Totally agree about the upkeep if you owned property at the lake. Sounds like you should have a nice weekend there!

Dorothy~Sounds like it was a good idea to reschedule the golf night.

Sonya~Will keep praying about your job path.

Nothing unusual at the doc visit today. I just hate those annual checks, but who doesn't, right? LOL I have one more doc appointment on Monday morning with the Osteopathic guy to discuss my hormones and sinuses. Exciting huh?

Came home and found Maegann trying to make some muffins from one of the new cookbooks. I think she missed some measurements as it didn't seem like a muffin batter and then she messed up by not turning preheat off so they cooked oddly. She also used 1/4 C cloves (ugh!) by mistake. It was to be 1/4 chopped chives! So I helped her make a new batch and they didn't cook right either. They looked gorgeous when you took them out and then they just fell into the center. Cut one open and they were hollow surrounded with goo. Only the outsides had baked. I emailed the gal about it as she was one of the presenters at the expo to get her advice as I think these would be really good.

After lunch I took Maegann with me to the gym as I was meeting the trainer. We then went to Subway for a soda and to hang out before her piano lesson. Once home it was dinner prep. Glad to have a chance to sit down and do a lot of nothing!

Tomorrow...nothing extra on the calendar. Just have Bible study in the evening and no lesson prep this week as we just finished up our study book.

Ladies - as always thanks for the support and perspective. God will decide if I am to be a teacher. If I pass the test and the final interview, I will pursue it. Working for my old boss would make me joyful because I would get 2.5 extra hours per day with my husband, but teaching would make me feel as if I am really making a difference in the lives of kids. I think I would be happy either way. I know teaching would be more stressful than working for my old boss, so I am leaving the open/closed doors up to God.

I think I need to cut some more calories. I am just not losing. I keep going up and down by 2 or 3 pounds but making no real progress. My besy friend recently lost 75 pounds and is now a fitness coach. Her program for figuring the calories shows that I should be taking in about 1300. I have been taking in around 1600.

Christina - I can understand that. Sometimes it seems like all we do at camp is mow and upkeep. Hopefully this year we will get some nice weekends in. Sounds like it is going to be perfect weather on the lake.

Janet - sounds like a busy day - hope all goes well att he Drs. I agree - weeding is my least favorite. When we had a mower with a bagger I use to put the grass clippings between the plants to keep the weeds down.

Well tonight was suppose to be our opening golf night and dinner but was cancelled due to the crazy weather and ghe golf course lost power. So it is rescheduled for next Tuesday which looks like it might be nice weather. Pray for sunshine!! emoticon emoticon So I will hit a spinning class and get my eyebrows waxed instead - emoticon and take Micahel to Karate. He is going camping with the Boy Scouts this weekend - they are going fishing.

Good Morning!

Janet Glad the school year is wrapping up for you. I know you enjoyed it, but it is great to have a break! This Wed is my last Jr girls life group for a while. As much as I look forward to it I also look forward to having a break! We ended up buying a new camper rather than the property in Cumberland. I am so glad!! Otherwise rather than going to enjoy the lake we would be going to do yard work and clean up. We keep our boat in storage about 3 miles from the lake. It is suppose to be 83 there on Saturday!!! We just bought a knee board so Matt is hoping to give it a try. Speaking of Matt he turns 14 on Thursday! I can't believe he is so grown up! It goes SOOO fast!

I am avioding my morning exercise emoticon

Christina~Hope you can make it to Cumberland this weekend. Sounds like a much needed break. Whatever came of the housing stuff there?

Sonya~I guess my only question is “Which job would make you joyful as you left each day for work?” Will be praying for this whole situation.

Dorothy~I don’t usually plant until the second week of May but our weather has been decent enough in April that we could get away with it. Now to just keep the weed maintenance going every other day so it isn’t a huge undertaking. My least favorite part!

Made it through the final day of co-op for our first year. Whew! It felt like the beginning all over again as so many people needed my ear and then the kids were acting like typical kids on the last day of school. LOL I needed my time home alone tonight badly! I spent the time on co-op info and updating home finances. Finally time to spark!

Tomorrow I'll begin the day at the doctor (bi-annual check) and then get schoolwork done with the kids. Meeting the trainer at 2 and then heading to piano lessons with dd. We'll probably hang out at Moxie or Subway for a time since we'll be too early for piano.

Need to get my April massage scheduled too. Hard to believe it's already been about a month already!

Sonya - you have some big deceisons ahead and I am sure the lord will help you sort it all out.

Christina - I hear you on the nap - I have been dragging all day. But I still went to the Y and did a 45 minute spinniong class and then a 45 strenth class. Took Michael to boy scouts - and I am pooped!

Janet - we are going to put in a few veggies this year but we really can't plant until after memeorial day. Glad co-op went well for you this year.

Kelly - are you getting any of the snow. We have not gotten it here in town but I can see it on the hill tops! All kinds of stuff was getting cancelled in the towns around us.

Hope everyone has a pleasant evening!

My test is May 10th, then that Saturday I have my final interview and have to prepare and teach a short lesson.

We still have not seen Daysia. She has moved again. She is finally in a home where she is the only child. I am pretty sure she is with a single foster mom as well. The lady told me she has no experience in dealing with therapeutic visits and she had plans for the weekend so she said she would tell her agency we can do it the next Saturday. We have been speaking with her on the phone and the little ones are doing really well. They don't talk about her unless she calls. Then they say they miss her. Ashlynn sometimes prays that Daysia will get better.

I did 2 chapters form an 8th grade Math book and did p90x this morning. Now lunch - salad - and back to math....sigh

My old boss (the good one before I was moved) is looking for a personal assistant. HE asked David for my resume. I miss all the time David and I got to spend together driving to and from work and eating together. It has been really hard on us to not have hardly any time with just us. The pay would be the same as teaching...... Lord, show me the way......

Good morning!
I know I have been not eating properly. An extra serving here and there, a desert or 2! I have been tracking this past week, that really helps. I wanted to go bed to bed for a nap this morning after i checked on Woody and got the first round of boys to school, but I did 40 mins on the elliptical instead. I could still use a nap!

We are thinking about going to Cumberland for the weekend. That would be relaxing! We need some down time!

Dorothy~Sounds like yucky weather for opening day of golf. We went from 55 to 90 degrees here. Just HOT for the entire weekend. Bodies not acclimated at all.

Christina~My weight is now back down after creeping up those too many pounds the past couple of months. Whew! My tracking definitely helps know what is going on.

Sonya~Good plan taking a practice test to see how you’re doing with the studying. When is the test?

Kelly~Guessing it’s my fault for not giving us a month at the Biggest Loser Ranch for a team trip! That would kick our butts in gear quickly! I know a lot of mine is the whole menopause piece and having too many carbs. Well, that’s one part of it anyway. Another is just all the stress eating, not weighing and measuring for the portion control. But I hear you…something has to give! Airplane…make sure you have your pint plastic baggie to put your 3 oz. or less liquids into or they will take them all and throw them away. You can always put them in checked luggage at any size, but I always have my hand lotion with me. You can take water, but you have to buy it at the airport once you’re past security. You’re going to be on a small plane if you’re flying to Hayden. Last I remember it was a small airport! Steamboat is a ski resort so they probably have summer type things you can do at the ski slopes. There are museums, a state park… Here’s a link. www.allsteamboat.com/attractions/ Since you’re near the golf course…go hit some balls on the driving range! Do you have a connecting flight somewhere?

Maegann sang in church this morning and did a great job. This afternoon we were able to give the “pupster” to a family that will provide a good home for him. They have another beagle already and were wanting a playmate. Free was the right price! They will get him fixed and chipped. My house has been much calmer without him! LOL Maegann wanted to get the veggie garden planted so we headed to the nursery and came home and tackled it in the 88+ degree heat. Ugh! We were dehydrating even drinking water the whole time we were out. We stayed inside afterwards and watched Alf and Biggest Loser.

Tomorrow is the last day of co-op until September. Whoo Hoo! I survived!! The director and another leader from the mentoring co-op are planning to come in the morning for our opening worship time to speak and pray with us. I thought that was great.

girls...we need to get our butts in gear and LOSE WEIGHT! It's like the more we try, the more we gain, or just NOT loose!! UGHHHH!! So what are we NOT doing right? We all seem to moderate and exercise, stay active....is it our age? We need metabolism blasters, fat burners big time...what about herbal remedies? Green smoothies did NOT work for me but maybe something else will.
So what can I take on a plane? Seems like we will be on one a long time. We are flying into Hayden, then Shuttle to Steamboat. What can I do there? One thing I WILL try is the hot springs...clothing optional after dark!! Takes away the need to worry about NOT fitting into my bathing suit!! LOL
Doro you could have swung by and done mine too!! I should send ya my new jacket....I thought it was lightweight and darn near roasted my butt off walking today. It was cool and drizzly here too. I wish I golfed. there is a course near the house in Colorado. Maybe that should be my summer goal! Golf!

Took a practice Praxis test and scored a 165. i looked up the score needed for TN but it was confusing. I am only taking one test. The 4 scores on each separate area were between 140 and 155 so I guess I did ok. I am going to work on math this week because I think it is the area that won't be so much like trivial pursuit. Math concepts build on one another so I think that's my best shot at acing a section.

I did finally weigh and I didn't lose any oh well.

Due to the test prep I didn't get as much workout time in.....

I too am struggling with the weight! This time last year I was near 185 and I am still right a 195-198 I have been here tsince the fall:( I tracked this week and exercised every day. I am gonna keep at it.

As usual I am racing to get it together. We leave for church in 1 hour and I am the only one up! Gary is having his "shoot out" today at 2:00. I cooked yesterday, so my part is ready.

Have a BLESSED Sunday friends!

It was drizzly and cool all day but probably perfect eather for doing what we were doing! Theya re calling for snow here tomorrow with a high of 37 - ugh! And Tuesday is our openeing day of golf with a dinner - it is suppose to be rainy and a hight of 41. This girl is not going to golf!

Nope...not near Steamboat since I live in Idaho. LOL I have been to Steamboat Springs as I have a good friend in Craig (just down the road a ways). Nice little resort area. Out of the hustle and bustle of the major touristy places too. Google Earth is fun! Where will you fly into for your trip?

I'm ready to something drastic...like detox, foot bath, diet pills, not sure what but figure if I get a BOOST, then I could get back on the wagon.
Janet are you near Steamboat? I'm so geographically challenged it's pitiful...even with Google Earth! I am playing with that tonight, but not sure how to really get where I what to go on it...I need computer class.

Another full day here once again. Summer hit overnight as we went from 58 to 85 yesterday and it's holding. Started my day with grocery shopping and then taking a stray dog (Beagle) to the vet to see if he had an ID chip. Nope. He's the sweetest thing but we are NOT going to keep him even though the kids want him to stay. Tim's got an ad out on Craigslist and he and Maegann went door-to-door this afternoon. If no response we'll place an ad that he's free. Then I headed out to rake the new garden area to get it ready for planting. Tim rebuilt my sprinkler system so that's ready to attach to the irrigation. Next I made some banana & chocolate chip muffins (yummy) and worked on dinner. I made a Tilapia recipe and it was so good! Fried fish with a Sake/milk cream sauce.

I hear you on the weight stuff. Even with the exercise piece going things just aren't moving except the same 5 lb. up and down. It's sooooo frustrating!

Hi girls...we got rain! It was like a dust bowl here. Serviced the van and they washed it. One trip up the lane and its covered. When I close the hatch, dust flies and I start sneezing. I'm learning to warn everyone "stand back, I'm starting the dust storm"
Doro. I hear ya on the 5pounds....wish that was all for me. I'm more like gained all 8 back plus! I hate it and feel like crap but cant seem to get back in the swing of things...thus more stress! Vicious cycle. I'm just NOT exercising and NOT watching and NOT drinking water (or anything else for that matter) I'm dehydrated big time. How can we KNOW what to do, but NOT do it????
Janet...you rock! I'm so proud of you...DONT give up for one second!
....as my hubby wants to go get icecream UGH!!!

Janet - way to go on the exercise and bike ride. We should be heading out of her in about an hour or so. Taking a load of manure up to her and then we will mulch. Of course it is suppose to rain all day - hopefull it will be a light rain!! We really need it bad.

Kelly - how very exciting. Wish my hubby would plan somethng like that!! Know what you mean about the helping in the kitchen. Whne I helped at the spahettid dinner last weekend I thought of some ways they could do things better but mostly kept them to myself when I realised that they were kind of stuck with there ways. Maybe next year - lol!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I am getting so frustrated with the scale. I ahve put on about 5 pounds since Christmas and it is not budging. All lost year I would go up and down 5 pounds - but this is an extra 5 pounds. I am thinking it is stress related but it is just stressing me out even more!!

Dorothy~I'm going to be working in the gardens tomorrow too. Figure Maegann and I will get ours raked out and weeded so we can begin planting. I think we're done with frost so plants should be okay. Would also like to get her wildflower seeds broadcast in the flowerbed.

Sonya~Glad you're getting a date night!

Kelly~Whoo Hoo on the trip! Where will you be in Colorado? And yes, take your laptop so you can keep your Spark going! What a fun time for you and at a great price!

I had a good workout this afternoon by myself. Trainer cancelled due to a massive headache so we rescheduled for Tuesday. I worked hard for 40 minutes. After dinner we went on a family bike ride and then I did a little bit of weeding. I'm feeling sore! LOL

HI girls....I should be going to bed! I totally messed up my day but Owell! It was the school hamsupper. (1500 tickets sold) My work slot was this morning in the kitchen. I'm not into this stuff....I refuse to get my blood pressure up over cake (which way to cut it? how to stack the takeout boxes?...I think some people really just WANT to get all worked up over petty things. And why is it when they are all heated up over running themselves ragged and I offer a simple solution they look at me like I'm NUTS. (stacking throw away cake cake pans neatly and then carry the whole stack to the dumpster in one trip rather than throwing them into a trashcan filling the bag after a few cakes, try to smash them down, rip the bag, change the bag a zillion times and have cake all over the floor...NOT to mention WASH YOUR HANDS!!!) I need to take duct tape next time because I dont think I can hold my tongue well....which is evident since my son called someone a "dumb*** on the playground yesterday.

O guess what??????!!!!!! I'm going on a trip next week for my 10 year anniversary!!....tim planned it all himself....and it wont cost us anything. We are going to Colorado!! We will stay at his bosses house. Only 5 days total but thats the longest I've ever been away with him. and NEVER away overnight from the kids! (which I"m kinda leary about...but I know it will be OK) i can't believe next week at this time, I'll be there! I don't think I want to take my laptop...or do I? I havent flown in 12 years. Not sure of what all I can take....and we will have use of their vehicles. gym memeberships, hiking, shopping...so excited!!!

I am NOT getting the study time that I need and while reading about all these things I had forgotten is fascinating to me (I guess that's a good sign) I don't know how much I am retaining since I could be questioned on ANYTHING in middle school!

Geography is a real weakness of mine. Graphing and Science as well. Sigh

Going out with hubby tonight no matter what!!!!!!!! Got a sitter lined up. Movie time. Dinner maybe....

Still no tax refund. I checked the status. It says they have questions and mailed us a letter...sigh

Christina~I think that's where I've been this week too. So many things such as finances just weren't getting done and I needed to feel on top of things again. Glad you are enjoying helping in Ben's class.

We're almost done with school here for the day. Have the trainer at 3 for 30 min. and I need it! Just haven't felt like I've been getting much done with exercise for the past several weeks. Must change! So must the food stuff. I have been stress eating. Not horribly, but enough to be called sabotage. Why do we do that to ourselves? Ugh!

Need to make more muffins today as the kids have been scarfing them down for snacks and breakfast. That was the plan and I know they are healthy so that's good.

Made my wish list of appliances after attending the expo. Nothing cheap about it! LOL I'll share it with you...

Vitamix (blender) $450
Zojirushi breadmaker $250
Pizzelle maker $20
Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer $200-$300

I guess I'll start with Pizzelle maker as it is affordable. LOL Bread maker is top priority of the others. I need one that can be programmed or that has a gluten free selection.

I am missing my exercise time this morning! I had to pay bills and get organized. There is so much going on around here I am barely keeping up.

Sunday Gary has his Monday night group coming for a cook out and the are going to skeet shoot. Many of these men have never shot a shotgun so it should be interesting!

Ben's teacher ask me to come back and volunteer in his room. I haven't been since Woody had that bad time in Feb. I am going to try 1 day a week. I love that time with the kids.

Sonya~I agree with you and Dorothy...it is in God's hands. On another note...that's a lot of desserts to be needing!

Yesterday I not only made the breadsticks, but granola and muffins as well. All were a success! Tomorrow night I'm trying a new fish recipe! Gotta love new cookbooks. Oh...I finally got pictures posted in a blog tonight from the trip.

We headed out for skating this morning and then to the library and bank on our way home. I decided to mow the lawn as it was really getting out of control so that took a little over an hour. Then I worked on getting receipts into the computer and making sure several bills were set to pay automatically. Tonight while the family was gone I worked on some co-op stuff that needed done as I'd put it off. Was sooo happy to finally get some Spark time in! I've not been here much since I got home.

Tomorrow we'll do school (didn't happen today) and I have the trainer scheduled at 3. We'll see what else creeps in. LOL

Helped bake desserts for our church's brown bag lunch. We do it once a month to help support various ministries of the church. We usually have around 300 lunch orders. Somehow when they began assembling them last night they realized they were going to be over 100 desserts short! I made spice cake goodie bars (which DH quickly confiscated to take to the 29 people who ordered from HIM) LOL

Already did a workout class this morning. Will do another tonight.

Even with GRace at MDO I got very little study time in. I had a home visit from DCS then I have a visit with Zoe's case mgr later today. I am concerned that I will not get enough study prep for the Praxsis but if it is meant to be God will make certain the questions are over what I manage to study. Otherwise I will assume it isn't His will at this time!

Hi ladies! Sorry I have been absent since returning home but it's been crazy busy.

This morning I took the hounds to the vet for nail trims and now school is about finished with the kids. I'm going to head to the gym and then we can finish our China stuff either before or after lunch. This afternoon I have to take Maegann to church to practice her solo for Sunday morning. Also need time to make and bake breadsticks to go with our steak tonight. Bible study in the evening.

Oh...Maegann went to Sunday School while I was in Chicago and it well. Tim also had a chance to talk with the sr. pastor and last night as I was heading in for our co-op meeting he was there and told me all he had done about the situation. I was amazed! He had spoken with both grandma's and made it clear that those children needed to respond as Christ would because their is an offense against them (they were perceived to be hurtful) whether they felt they were guilty or not. He also spoke with the entire staff at their meeting and let them know how these types of issues need to be handled at the church level. Not as the world would (ignore, tolerate) but as Christ would. He also had a long conversation with the children's director. Yeah Pastor Mark!!! So...on Sunday Maegann said the ring leader said "Well...look who decided to come to class." and M said she just shrugged her shoulders and sat down. Yeah Maegann!!!

Great leadership meeting last night. All the classes are set for next year! Whoo hoo!

Hoping to watch Loser tonight after Bible study.

Couldn't remember if I told you guys:

A few days ago I had Grace's cup in one hand, her snack in the other, and Grace was standing to my right near the back door. I turned my head to the left because I could not contain the sneeze that was coming. I didn't realize that Grace didn't know that it is called a sneeze..... Light was coming in the backdoor highlighting all the "particles" in the air. Grace looked over and said "Mommy, you blessed you all over the floor!"

The one thing I have been doing since day one on Spark is that I do track my food. Even when I make a poor choice, I track it anyway. I am hoping over the long term to be able to go back and see where things slowed down and be able to look at the report and know that see that it was either the food or the lack of exercise and use the reports to help others.

It is so hard to study with a 2 1/2 year old running around. I have to pick one or two small things and try to keep them in front of me until I think I know them in spite of the interruptions then move on to a couple of other small things. I get a couple of hours after lunch during nap time and an hour or so after the kids are down at night. I hope this test isn't as hard as I am thinking it will be.

Good morning Mommies!!

Kelly how much longer are you working?

I am having a great week with food and exercise. I am actually tracking my food. It is a pain to take the time for, but I know I need that discipline.

Sonya - double ya - on weight loss and on the schooling!!

Janet - emoticon Glad you made it back OK - sorry the house was a disaster - know what that is like - emoticon

Christina - did you get Ben off?? Glad you are back as well.

Went to spinning class and weight lifting last night and took Michael to boyscouts and helped my sister get a piece of frniture up her stairs. That was a little scary as she has a disabled arm!! Michael is signed up for boy scout camp! I also made some awesome chicken stir fry and rice - Yum! Tonight I will either run, take a spinning class or work on the gardens. Micahel has Karate. Right now I am getting ready to run off to weight class. Hope you all have a reat day.

Sonya~You can do it!!!

Totally exhausted here but wanted to check in and get my tracking done at least. Flights went well. Only issue I had was when I missed the rental car exit and ended up in a nightmare of a mess near departures with taxis and limos. I felt it counted towards my cardio for the day as my heart was racing so fast! Was so thankful to make it through without a scratch and didn't miss the exit the next time! I think it was a different one too. Anyway...done!

Since home I have not stopped as the house was a wreck. I cleaned floors, bathrooms and did laundry. Will help make it easier tomorrow.

I'll post a blog tomorrow sometime with a few pictures.

well I've gone and done it now. I registered for the Praxis II exam on middle school content, I downloaded sample tests and guides, made a study schedule, and took the first test....Jeez

I did great on English and Math, but Social Studies and Science kicked my tail. Considering I went to a Christian school 25 years ago it doesn't even seem to be the same material I was taught. I have to pick up some middle school textbooks and read and study for the next three weeks and PRAY!!!!

I am also recording Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader - recommended by the testing people.LOL

I may not be on much over the next 3 weeks!

Janet - glad that the expo paid off - hope you make it home safe and sound.

Judy - glad to hear that the cd's helped - I think that the hardest part for parents is sticking the ground and staying firm. If they know you mean it they uaually won't test you as much..

Sonya - way to go!

Got alot done around the house yesterday and I am pooped - good to be at work today and sitting still - lol!!!

Kelly - ugh - I don't miss them at all!!

Alejo will be 5 in July. I watched a good chunk of the 123 Magic DVD this afternoon and decided to implement it right away today. When Alejo started throwing a fit about how quickly he could do something today I counted just as they say and when it got to three, I put him in his room on a time out for 4 minutes. I already knew from trying time outs in the past he would not stay in his room so as the DVD said, there are ways to help that situation. One of which is holding the door shut. That is what I did. When it was done, I opened the door and we went out to play without a word said. Then there were a few other opportunities to practice and each time I only had to get to 2 and he knew. I'm sure there will be challenges coming up because nothing is ever easy but I can already see this can really help our relationship so I can enjoy him rather than battle with him.

Sonya - go for your dreams!! Our sermon today was based on Genesis 37 with Joesph and his dreams. I learned a lot and am inspired!

Janet - as much as I enjoy being away for a break, it's always nice to head home. Glad your seminar was so successful!

I went to the farmers market store after church today and picked up our freggies for the week. Really want and need to get back in a steady habit of including them - and enough of them! - each day. Ed wanted to go to the regular grocery store after dinner to go get ice cream so I decided Alejo and I would tag along and pick up some things we get specifically from that store. Turns out there was a sale when you bought the store brand ice cream you would get a free carton of their new healthy store brand Greek frozen yogurt. I was excited as now I got a treat for me I'd been wanting to try and for free! I picked out the vanilla and the honey flavors which had the lesser amounts of sugar. They have 6 or 7 grams of protein. Hoping I like it! Or maybe I'm not - hmmm emoticon

Hoping you all had a blessed Sunday and are ready to head into the new week motivated and determined! emoticon
