5/18/15 487 -- low but I actually had more calories b/c of the trail mix I made that was low sodium - only had a 1/4 cup though!

The seasoning is D'Allesandro Organics No-salt All Purpose Seasoning. It's all sorts of dehydrated vegetables and herbs - quite tasty! And I actually stayed within my sodium limits today! 1785 emoticon emoticon

emoticon for the helpful tips. My nephew (who is a chef) got me a huge bottle of salt-free seasoning that the cook from the nursing home told him about. It's pretty good as are several of the no-salt Perfect Pinch kind. I can do this, it's just that I was raised with sooo much salt in everything that it's hard to get used to eating differently! I appreciate any help I can get!

You can use SALT SENSE which is real salt but with 33% less sodium, or try some of the Mrs. Dash seasonings.

I've not found it to terribly difficult but I have never eaten alot of processed however I do miss rice-a-roni. Fresh/frozen whole foods and stay within food portions, read labels and track what you are eating (honestly) so you can see where it's sneaking . Meat surprised me so I search for the lowest sodium. I also bought my self a bread machine so I can make sodium free bread. Pintrest has a lot of sodium free recipes.

Nothing Tastes as good as Thin Feels.

Hi Everyone,
A close personal friend of ours passed away last night. Today would have been his birthday.
Claude was a very dear friend but he'd been in terrible pain for a long time from brain and bone cancer, so this is a blessing in a way. He's no longer suffering and he'd lived a long life (86 years old ). I just hope his wife Phyllis will stay strong and not just follow him on home. We don't have but a handful of friends in this town, so the ones we do have are very special.

Working on the deck has been out of the question the last 2 days. I can't bend without my back going into spasms so bad it makes me ill. I've been on the heating pad most of the day and have on 2 pain patches so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for me and I can actually help get something done. See, when I can't work on it Bob is very limited since he depends on me to carry everything outdoors for him and do all the bending and lifting. Bob does most of what he does sitting in his folding chair.

Sodium is in just about everything. I wish I didn't have to worry about it like I do but I retain excess fluid badly.

Thanks, Vicki. One of my problems is the "hidden" sodium. Celery is a great snack but has a lot more sodium that I realized. I'm working on it but it's so hard when you've been raised to put salt on everything. I did find some unsalted peanut butter that helps but it's a little pricey!

2035 today. I had to adjust what I had down as I added 2 slices of cheese to supper.
LSIG14,don't give up. Just do your best each day. Some days I'm way, way over Just keep
trying.

Today was an extremely high sodium day due to eating two meals out. It came to 4242 in sodium, but 2329 in calories and I walked 19,810 steps for the day.

We got the rest of the old porch deck torn down this morning and will start building the new deck probably this weekend. Tomorrow is our BIG monthly shopping trip where we buy groceries for the rest of the month. I'll get in a lot of walking. Then tomorrow evening we'll drive 45 miles to go to our favorite restaurant to celebrate our 19th anniversary a few days early (April 14th). This serves two purposes. We celebrate our anniversary but it also saves me having to cook after being on my feet all day. So it'll be a long day.
