PATHGIRL, I don't know how to send links, so here's the recipe.

Low Salt Turkey Meatloaf

1 lb ground turkey, 93%
1 egg
1/2 cup oatmeal (not instant)
1 cup Francesco Rinaldi No Added Salt Spaghetti Sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup onions
pepper, spices ad lib

Mix it all together, put in loaf pan, bake @ 350 for 50 min, or till done. Makes 4 large servings. Could serve 5-6.
When I put this into my recipe box, I didn't figure in the spaghetti sauce, because they don't list the NAS sauce. So when I figure this into my meal, I have the Spaghetti Sauce logged in seperately. This is the nutritional stuff.I'll add the sauce after the other numbers. This is 'per serving' and I figure the recipe as 4 servings.

Cal. 232 + 35 = 267
Fat 10 + 1.5 = 11.5
sat 3 + 0 = 3
poly 0.4+ 0 = 0.4
mono 0.7 + 0= 0.7
Chol 53 + 0= 53
Sodium 102+12.5=114.5
Potassium 81 +0=81
Carbohy. 10.6+5=15.6
Fiber 1.7 +0= 1.7
Sugar 0.3+ 4.5= 4.7
Prot. 25.3+1= 26.3

Hope you enjoy this, we did.

I would love the recipe!

Can you maybe add it to SparkRecipes and send me the link?

Thanks!

p.s. make mental note to look for low-salt breadcrumbs this weekend - that's something I have not had for a while and now I'm definitely craving it.

Hi, my latest find is a bag of breadcrumbs, called PANKO, that has only 80 mg of sodium in 1/3 cup. That sure beats Progresso. I have a recipe for pork cutlets using them, but I haven't tried it yet.
I made a low sodium turkey meat loaf tonight, if anyone wants the recipe I'd be happy to supply it. It was good.

I just got back from grocery shopping and spent most of my time reading labels looking for low sodium products. It is good to see that is more food items available. Does anyone know where to find low sodium bread without baking it yourself?

Hey, thanks for the tip about Wegman's - there's only one in the Baltimore area, and I hadn't been there yet because it's not that near me, but now I'll make a point to get over there and look for that!

I hadn't really checked out cold cuts; I don't eat sandwiches that much. But this would be great news for my kids, they can stand to reduce their salt too.

I just found 'no salt added' cottage cheese. It's the Stop and Shop store brand, 55mg in 1/2 cup, I like it. I just had it on whole wheat toast. I think the next time I have it I'll add some herbs or spices. Maybe chop up some onions in it.

LOL! cooked chicken (as in chicken breast, etc.) just does not last in my fridge. BF comes home from work, opens the fridge door and the chicken seems to evaporate! :-)

I guess I should slice it up immediately, that might help.

I cook my own chicken breasts and slice them up for sandwiches. Other than that, I mostly don't eat cold cuts at all - when I want a sandwich, it's cheese and veggies and avocado and sprouts.

I find low sodium turkey breast and roast beef at the deli counter of a local supermarket, and they also carry Loraine brand Swiss cheese, which comes in low sodium also. I'm hoping that, as the general population becomes more aware of the dangers of high sodium intake, that the manufacturers will come out with more low sodium products. I believe there are more now than a year or two ago, or am I just more in tune with it?

You know how much you miss sandwiches... well, *I* miss sandwiches. I miss them because up until now I could not find low-salt cold cuts.

But yesterday I was looking through the Loblaws website - a big chain here in Ontario, Canada, and they have chicken breast cold cuts that are not only low fat, but have only 90 mg sodium per serving (about 50 grams or two slices). Wow! The next best thing I've found is turkey breast cold cuts at the competitor Dominion supermarket at 240 mg sodium per 50 gram serving.

Where do you all get your cold cuts from? Any other ideas for substitutions?

TIA
