I had a wonderful Christmas with my granddaughter and her family. They were here for 4 days. My granddaughter Heather and her four kids and husband live in Wisconsin. They left on Friday. Saturday my husband and I both came down with the flu. We are better today.

Hi all,

I left the group for a little while, but I'm back. I did my first 10 in 10 in over 2 years. I'm trying to find my abs again after having a baby a year ago. I think 10 in 10 will be a gentle way to build my strength back up!

Hi Suzy and to all members,

I took a break from Sparkpeople for about 3.5 months and gained 11.6 pounds and 13 inches. I have been fighting with myself for the last few weeks, trying to get my mindset back to start exercising again.


I finally made up my mind and my goal is to get back where I was 3.5 months ago in 6 weeks. My plan is do Strength Training 3 days week and Cardio on my stationary bike 7 days a week.



Sunday is my measurement and weigh in day and my totals for my measurements in 11 places were 308.25 inches (my goal is 295.25 inches) and my weight was 175.8 pounds. (goal is 164.2 pounds by September 28th).

It is good to be back and see that y'all are still active on the team. SHALINDRA (Suzy) I'm so glad you were here for everyone when I couldn't be. I still won't be posting as much as I was but I will post as often as I can.

I have done them, in fact I still have the old VHS of the AM/PM. It will work just fine and if anyone has the 10/10 and needs to break it up you can do it by doing the everything but the legs one day and the warm up and the legs the next day. If you do that 4 days a week you will have done 2 days of the 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours.

All though, for my self, I find the hardest part is just getting in the living room and getting started so, I just go ahead and do the 10/10.

I have never done AM_PM but I think your plans will work for you. Callanetics is very adaptable. As you progress you can progress the workout as well.Glad to have you on board.

I just got my AM - PM Callanetics. I don't know if I'll have time to do both parts most days. I'm thinking of just doing 1/2 of the tape each day (one day morning - one day evening). What do you think of that plan?

Good Morning Group!

Maybe I'm just repeating things that are on here already, but I tried my library for a DVD or copy of the book, but no dice. So I ordered a Used Book from a Can. source and should have it within 4 weeks plus.

Should I have tried another source? I do things so quickly when I want them and if this is so good, how come she didn't come out with another new book or whatever?

Anything you can tell me, would be a help. Like, where else can I look for the exercises????

Thanks TERRYN1 and Suzy for responding to me on this eating subject.

Terry, I just started this year listening to my Body, Not to what I Want. Not just in food but exercise and rest too! I have made my plans, of what I know I need but I ultimately I do what my body is willing to do.

Suzy, maybe I just don't take that old scale seriously (or any of the numbers). To me it's just another number so don't let it drive you nutz:) Lose the scale if you need too. We all need peace of mind. If your cloths are getting lose or tight that's, all the scale you need.

I'm just trying to get a handle on what works for my body and peace of mind! If I don't feel like exercising I don't and if I do, I try to stay with the program I have planed. But, at my age I still hold with my old saying " Life is to Short to be Unhappy!" But, I will Never Give Up!!!

Charlie I cant seem to eat much more than 1300 to 1500 range. Honestly I believe the scale is my worst enemy. I do want to track what I eat and the nutrional value of what I eat but honestly, I think fixating on numbers is driving me nutz :) Nothing is changing! So I am going to eat as healthy as possible, get my Callanetics in EVERY week,and stay moving as much as possible.I believe stressing over all this is making it impossible to be happy with myself and that is key. You have to be healthy inside to make the chance on the outside.

For years, this was my biggest struggle. Last year, I decided to experiment a bit and decided to really start listening to my body... let IT tell me what I'm hungry for and when to eat. I ended up going pretty much vegetarian and losing the last 20 lbs.

Sure, some of the messages take decoding... I'll often crave sugar when I don't have enough calories, mustard or vinegar when I'm dehydrated, or fast food when I need protein. I get these messages because my body knows that when it gave me these cravings before, I did it. Now I'm getting the messages, but taking the time to understand what they *really* mean, I can give my body what it really needs. After a few months, I started getting the right messages.

I'm not saying this will work for everyone. I've been on a healthy eating plan since I was a 20 year old body builder, so I'm used to planning and discipline with my food. This took a lot of that away, which made me feel freer. Helped that it worked for me. emoticon

All I'm saying, is that it might be worth a one-week trial to really listen to your body and see what it tells you. And keep logging...that always helps when you go back to take a look at the big picture.

I'm struggling with getting enough calories everyday. I do good to get 1300 calories and I need at least 1600 to 1850 a day, with all the exercise I do.

I know if we don't eat enough our body's think we have cut our throats and goes into starvation mode!
Then we can't LOSE FAT !!!! emoticon
Is anyone else having this problem emoticon

I have to keep reminding myself Why I’m Doing This. Yes, I want to keep losing weight. Yes, I want to be healthier. But those are side effects, benefits that come with my primary goal. The main reason I am doing all of this is because I want to stay Active and Look and Feel YOUNGER (at least 10 years). I'm not just vain, I want to live to be in my 100's and be independent while still enjoying Life.

Right now, I need to keep my eyes on the prize. Good nights’ sleep and morning workouts and at least one green smoothie a day, I believe are part of what's going to get me where I need to be, to be happy with my goal. Who knows I may be walking (or running) in a marathon on my 100th birthday. That means between now and then, I need to maintain moderation in all things.

Love, Laugh and do a little JIG (a dance) everyday to show the world that your'e Lovin Your Life!

Yup, I did and today being off I ended up walking 9km as well as doing the 3 mile walk at home and the TNT challenge on the BLC team which was the arm workout. emoticon

Needless to say, I am going to bed early tonight emoticon

Did you do your Callanetics last night? If so I hope your not draggy today Alicia.

I had a great 2 mile walk yesterday outside. I would have gone at least 4 miles if I had gotten an earlier start. If you can believe it we were in the 70's on the 15th of February.

Happy Valentine's Day emoticon

Charlie - I kick and scream about the ice too so never fear. We would walk between two provinices and have a great time. Ottawa is on the border of Ontario and Quebec so you could stand between on snow of course and say you visited two provinces when here. emoticon

Suzy - I don't know if I could handle humidity unless I could sit in a pool but I have been through Georgia and I think it is a beautiful place. I hope to visit and spend more time rather than passing through to visit my sister in Florida.

It is always fun to be in a school on Valentine's Day. I always get a few of those lovely children's cards and of course treats which I put in my bag for home and give my DH instead of eating them. One parent was very sweet and gave me a Valentine's Tea Cup. Did my Callanetics last night - btw when I did a search for Callanetics on Amazon.ca I see that another book is coming out the end of this year. Looks like a goodie.

Suzy, I knew you live where it snows and I thought you walked out in it too. I didn't know you are a Georgia girl. I've been there and it is beautiful and where I was reminded me of Houston and Corpus Christi weather. I live 10 miles from the Oklahoma state line now. It's a little cooler here than in Houston and a lot less humid. I don't remember what area of Georgia I was in. I use to love hot humid weather but after living where it's not as humid, I don't know if I could go back to it or not. Who knows though, it's all in what we get use too. I know you will be so excited to get back home.

I have lived in several states where it snowed, in my youth and loved it. I think it's all in where your'e raised and I was raised mostly in the sun belt close to Fort Worth/Dallas. But, the heat is harder to handle for me now than when I was younger. So, even in the hottest part of summer I walk with Leslie S. in the comfort of air-conditioning. I do love to walk out doors in the spring, fall and part of the winter. I'm really an outside type of girl.

Alicia, if I was visiting you in Canada I would happily let you drag me out for walks in the snow but, you would be dragging me kicking and screaming to walk on the ice. I remember how nice it was to be out in the dry snow and I would even get hot when I went skiing in Seattle. I'm sure it doesn't get as cold in Seattle as it does where you live.

Good Monday Morning!

Well, Charlie if you were here with us we would bundle you up good before dragging you out the door. The good news is that come spring when boots and layers are shed you really feel like you are flying along. I do Leslie S too when we hit the -25 with the wind chill of -30 or lower. I am not that silly... well... maybe a little emoticon Thank you for the congrads.

A lot of that is because of the BLC Challenge that I belong to although I am not thrilled with it at this point I did promise to see it through and I will and I am sure I will reach my goal for it but I will not be doing it again any time soon. emoticon

I didn't get my 3 Callanetics in last week but I am determined to do it this week. I did 2 last week and I always feel better for it.

I've got to hand it to you, I would never make it in the ice and snow. I walk in front of my TV with Leslie S. DVD's and do my Callanetics, with my Callan's DVD. No snow here this year, just a mild winter and I still walk in the house.

You guys that live where it snows have to be in better shape. That's a lot more of a workout in those heavy cloths and boots. emoticon Alicia on losing 2.5 #'s, I'm so proud of you.

It's a new day and it is me back again. Today is the day I pull out my supper post-it notes and get busy meal planning and making this weeks meal plans. Back to my own this week although the HH said - you should continue them because more lost weight with her meal plans and I am sure that is very true but I also know I don't want to spend the extra cash on it nor do I need it more than what I had - one week to tweek it up a bit. Now I have and I am good. Besides I got my spark friends with me emoticon

Hi All -

I had a great loss this week of 2.5 pounds and am feeling back on track with my plans. Walking at night with my sweetie is good although we do have to be careful as anything that may have been melting is usually freezing up as soon as the sun sets and some of the streets sidewalks are completely solid ice so we have to walk on the street itself. Still lots of snow on the ground but less than usual which is okay with me. I keep thinking that when spring comes and we get to walk in our running shoes we will just be flying no longer wearing the heavy winter boots and as the extra layers of clothes can be shed that will make the walks a lot faster.

Doing my Callanetics tonight! emoticon Fastest way for tightening up. emoticon

I have been a bit off and on the past few days sorting out what is working and what isn't. One thing of course has been the Callanetics. I was back down on the floor today and really loving every minute... well... not so much the tummy ones but I did them anyway - LOL.

Good Morning All -

Well, now that the groundhog didn't see his shadow emoticon at least here in Ontario and spring is around the corner, the sun has come out and it is looking nice out. Today is our usual day for making the meal plans and grocery list. I got this meal plan from the author - the Happy Herbivore and felt it was a great one that seems easy and quick but has more in the way of fruits, veggies and protien. I tend to lean a bit too much on starch which of course is not the best choices. I am hoping this will fix up that weak part and really show an improvement. Good news is that tonight we will be watching the very last episode of the Tutors which will mean we will finally get off our collective butts and get moving once more. It was a great series but boy, is it hard to do other things when we get watching a series or television season. Thank goodness there is nothing in the wings for awhile. That will go a long way to seeing the scale move once more and back onto the floor for some great Callanetics.

I know Suzy, I'm so glad you listen to your body and don't over do. Some times a lot of us don't do that.

I get overly ambitious too, when I feel good and make all these plans to do something everyday. I start off good, cause I'm in the right frame of mind and then something happens that I have to miss a day or two and then I can't seem to get back in that mind set for awhile. Then I start putting on the inches and pounds.

If I ever find the answer to staying in the right frame of mind with exercise like I have with my meals, I might reach my goal sooner. But, for now I feel like I will make it everyday in Feb., even if it's just 20 minuets. If I can do that maybe the habit will stick even if I have to miss a day.

You are my hero, cause you stick with it even though you have to back off because of your health. You do what you can, always.

I love it that we all know how important it is for our bodies to do Callanetics. Even if we can only do one hour a week we will feel a change. But, each of us are shooting for 3 hours a week, so we shall see the difference in the Bottom Line. Right?

Those sound like emoticon plans. I am committing to Monday, Wednesday and Friday Callanetics. Leaving the weekend for just in case I miss one of those days it would be good for pick up. Tueday and Thursday are my variety days and weekends are open because it just doesn't work to try to schedule stuff. If I workout great but I won't be guilt ridden if I don't. Walks are daily (with exceptions of bad winter weather) then I do a walk at home dvd.

It's going to be tough at first, with all the pounds I have packed on these past few months, but my plan is to do Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, as well as intervals on the elliptical at least 2 days per week. Callanetics is the best workout to help me both look better and become stronger, so I look forward to getting back into my old routine with the good old 10/10 workout.

I just wanted to stop by and say Hello All! emoticon I didn't do my Callanetics as often as I would have liked to in January but I really plan on doing much more for February. I really, really feel the difference when I don't do them. They are so good for keeping flexiable.

Charlie its a channel that they show off the hd capabilities. Its just scenery and music, you might be able to find something caparable, I believe getting away from everything and just concentrating on the "now" and "movements" is the lessoned I "relearned" today.

I discovered a wonderful channel on Uverse today, there are calming nature scenes and they play the most calming music. So I locked myself in my room and blocked out everything except meditation in motion. This has been the best workout for my body, both physically and mentally. Getting away from all the hub bub of teenagers out of school and husband at home was great therapy :)

When I woke up this morning, I noticed the effects of all the Halloween candy, Thanksgiving leftovers and Christmas goodies when I looked in the mirror and stepped on the scale. I guess it's time to get back to Callanetics again. I weigh 160 lbs now and at 5' 3", that's too much. My goal is to lose at least 30 pounds of fat and gain about 8-10 pounds of muscle. I'll just have to start walking away from all the leftover Christmas cookies and candies at work, do some interval training on my elliptical, and most important, start doing Callanetics again. Nothing whips me into shape faster.

I don't know about you but I'm going to make the best of the last month of December 2011. I want to lose 5% of my weight in 2 months, by January 31, 2012 or as close to it as I can.

I'm at 166.8 lbs today Dec. 1st ~ 5% of that is 8.34 pounds.
