I was too unmotivated to go to the gym on Monday liek I had planned, I ran for 35 minutes instead of using the elliptical for 65. It was the hottest day ever! I swear.

Yesterday I made it to yoga, and it was so humid i nthat already seaming room, but somehow I think the higher the humidty the better! It felt great, even though my partner in crime didnt show up!

Tonight is date night so Im not doign anything!

Im hoping to step it up a notch this month as well!!

I didn't make it to the gym last night. I am going to make an August fresh start, i suppose. Just pulled in too many directions for the last two weeks of this challenges.

How did everyone else fare?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

I'm still kind of in a daze. My weight fluctuated a lot last week. I spent about 4 days not even eating 1200 calories, and abour 4 days eating way over that. Tomorrow will be the first time I go to the gym in over a week.

I hope everyone has had fun with this challenge, though. I guess I was pretty lax. If I am the same weight as I started out at, I'll be happy, though.

Playing catch up on laundry, bills, etc, but will post when I can.

xoBPxo

So, how is everybody keeping up on the July goals??
Progress, ups, downs?
I have been eating fruits and veggies, but avoiding cardio exercise like the plague. I have done strength exercises, and avoided b/p issues by being busy at work. I did end up w/ a quick b/p yesterday am but did not let it ruin my day. I think I blogged recently...maybe.

As far as goals, I have been keeping up w/ eating my produce-easy for a vegetarian. Exercise is minimal now that I am working--somewhat unpredictable hours.
Blogged today.

Sorry I'm running a little behind, everyone. Reposting daily challenges. Do what you can, or make your own!

July 22) Eat a piece of fruit today.
July 23) Take a 10-15 minute walk outside; if it's a gym/cardio day for you anyway, add an extra 10-15 minutes if you'd rather do that. (But hey, being outdoors is nice!)
July 24) If you get the urge to overeat/emotional eat/binge eat today, instead, listen to a kick ass song and drink a glass of water Share with us what song it was.
July 25) Make something healthful (doesn't have to be a Sparkrecipe) and try to make enough to share with a guest or have as leftovers.
July 26) Write a SparkPeople blog (or set up a SparkPeople profile Web page if you haven't already).
July 27) Try a recipe from SparkRecipes.com and report on it.
July 28) Incorporate some strength training today - don't overdo it if you're new to it, though!

Whoops, I forgot to blog yesterday. Will do it now. May have to make my healthy recipe tomorrow, and postpone weightlifting till next Tues or Weds.

Earthiemama, welcome!

This is the first challenge we've done. I'm not having much success with the actual weight loss part but am still managing to make most of the daily goals happen.

Typically, we just do a monthly "mini-goals" for every month. Introduce yourself on the "introduce yourself" thread when you get a chance!

Yay, way to go Veg & Lovi! I had dinner @ a friend's house tonight, so count that as "sharing." She made tilapia, epande, squash, shrimp, baked sweet potatoes, and fresh tomatoes. Mmm! Delicious *and* nutritious.

LOVE the job. Just mindless enough, keeps me busy, earns me a paycheck, and is a great outlet for my oganizational OCD! emoticon
Ate extra veggies today, and my fruits include some of my homegrown grapes. Yum. I did strength and cardio today--actually did modified pushups. I always put off/skip upper body, so this one was monumental. ha ha.
No b/p issues. slight urges in the AM, but only in passing. I really don't have food in the house and no money to buy any, so it wasn't even an option.
Good job to everyone else. It makes me happy to see others succeed! Keep it up! emoticon

Did 10 extra minutes tonight, though I burned fewer calories than I normally do without the extra 10 minutes. I did a full weight circuit. I went to an AlAnon meeting and this time actually had a good experience. Drove around to like 5 different fast-food restaurants trying to determine what would be best...ended up with a Wendy's salad, though I was really jonesin' for greasy burger and fries. I've gotten so off track, but was pretty inspired after a good afternoon/evening not to stray.

I had a banana and watermelon yesterday. Will try to get my extra 10-15 in today, as well as do some weights to make up for not getting to them last week. I may have to wait to do them till tomorrow, though.

OK, everyone, I'm reposting the daily challenges for this week. Remember, cater them to your own tastes and schedules and goals. The first week, I did really well and accomplished all of them. The second week, not so much. Will try to get back on track again this week. My Dad went back into the hospital, so I apologize for not a lot of posting. -BP-

July 15) Eat a piece of fruit today.
July 16) Take a 10-15 minute walk outside; if it's a gym/cardio day for you anyway, add an extra 10-15 minutes if you'd rather do that. (But hey, being outdoors is nice!)
July 17) If you get the urge to overeat/emotional eat/binge eat today, instead, listen to a kick ass song and drink a glass of water Share with us what song it was.
July 18) Make something healthful (doesn't have to be a Sparkrecipe) and try to make enough to share with a guest or have as leftovers.
July 19) Write a SparkPeople blog (or set up a SparkPeople profile Web page if you haven't already).
July 20) Try a recipe from SparkRecipes.com and report on it.

Yeah - email them to me if you can, I'd love some new recipes! I'll PM you my real email address.

Well, I ended up making a veggie burger and sweet taters for supper last night. Somewhat healthful, I guess, but I didn't make enough for leftovers, as I'm having dinner w/ a friend tonight and going out of town tomorrow.

Padre is in the hospital again. Bummer. I am not doing well in this challenge either. GAINING weight.

I have been SO bad this challenge. I haven't been really working on my diet, or excercise. Then it got HOT. Like 97 today, and I am SO not used to hot weather. Bleah.

Anyway... Today is a new day, and I ate really well! I read the 5 Factor Diet, and while some of it is common sense, I do like the idea of eating proteins with carbs. Unlike celebrities, I do have to make my own food, henceforth, had to make recipe cards. A LOT!!! If anyone is interested, I can email the word document that has them all. I'm almost finished with typing up all of them (100+) onto 4x6 cards. Pretty easy to print too! The only good thing... unlike most recipes, quite a few are microwaveable or use a skillet.

Supposedly, colder air is on the horizon tomorrow. Working out will be much easier!

Good Luck Ladies!

Was rudely awakened by 2 5:54am phone calls so I got out of bed and exercised. slightly less running than yesterday--only 6 min. I was too thirsty too really enjoy the outdoor time. But, it was exercise and it is done for today. I have already met my weekly cardio goal, so I am proud of that. Eating is stressful at best.

Monday I did end up using the weight machine at the gym for my arms, and I didnt even have to ask how lol. So thats one goal I can check off.

Yesterday I dropped my car off across the street from my work for an oil change. Walked over and back equaling a total of 8 (hey thats almost 10) minutes walked outside, thats another goal checked off.

Yesterday night went to yoga, feel great today!
Even though Im working with only 3 hours of sleep from last night and therefore running on fumes grr...

Great job Vegpunk, Im glad it was finally decent weather, and Babypop- a massage!! Im jealous!

Stayed within calorie range...didn't emotional eat but didn't listen to any particularly inspirational music either.

I ended up having to leave work b/c I was so upset about some stuff. I went home and slept till 7:30 and got up the nerve to go to an AlAnon meeting.

I slept too late to do that and go to the gym, so I will go today and weigh in, then go home, clean, do some bills, and cook something healthy-ish...I'm thinking something w/ sweet potatoes.

Having a hard time this month, but hopefully the weight will come off somehow.

Let's see...premeditated b/p, but loads of energy all day long. Ate 2-3 decent meals, felt fine physically and happy emotionally. weather was overcast and cooler so I got to exercise at 7pm in the daylight. I even ran a bit-10 minutes in all, first time in weeks! listened to good music too!

Way to go, Vegpunk. Remembering your other postings in other threads, it seems like you are making progress on all counts. Keep at it!

I had a massage last night - it was a graduation gift. Also got the name/info for a counselor for EAP through work to help with a lot of stuff I've been going through...

Went an extra 10 minutes at the gym yesterday. I didn't workout too hard b/c my masseuse suggested I not work out at all, but I felt good afterward. I am still mad at myself for overeating on two days (not even 10 days into the challenge!) but today is weigh-in so hopefully I can pick up and move on!

oh, oh, oh! Awful day. Got up at 8:30, weighed and liked the weight. Ate, but 20 minutes later took to another b/p. this one did not make me feel better like usual. I feel gross. Anxious all day. I am still waiting on job confirmation and details, plus I have no money, loads of bills and am sick of the summer heat and it all got the best of me. But I did strength stuff today. So, not a complete waste.

I totally feel you on the plateau thing...likewise!

I went so over on calories yesterday...that was the 2nd day this month, and the previous time I was able to work it off the next day. I went over by a full day's worth of calories, no way I can burn that off at the gym safely. Hope it doesn't slow me down.

July 8: Fruit - did better, had fruit salad for breakfast and a glass of OJ for snack.

July 9: It's raining, but I grabbed my umbrella and took a spin anyway.

Last week I had meat only Friday night and Sunday morning, I've had fresh fruit and veggies, pasta and rice this week, stayed in my sparkpeople plan except for one day, and I've lost 0 Pounds so far.

I've been on this platea for months, so bear with me. I am trying! :)

Derby Luv to ya!

Today is a gym day but I'm skipping b/c of some circumstances that came up. I am getting a massage tomorrow and will go afterward, and tack an extra 10 minutes on for tomorrow's challenge.

My fruit of the day will be a pack of mandarin oranges. Nothing fresh and too lazy to go to the store.

Good day today: got my errands done in spite of the heat, ate closer to my calorie range, exercised-a faster paced walk for 45 minutes that made my chest feel like it'd explode!-and refrained from negativity in general (my walk burned off some anger/frustration I had at my dad) emoticon

I guess unless I hear of any other ideas for assignments (sparkmail them to me if you have any!) I will repeat the ones from last week:

July 8) Eat a piece of fruit today.
July 9) Take a 10-15 minute walk outside; if it's a gym/cardio day for you anyway, add an extra 10-15 minutes if you'd rather do that. (But hey, being outdoors is nice!)
July 10) If you get the urge to overeat/emotional eat/binge eat today, instead, listen to a kick ass song and drink a glass of water. Share with us what song it was.
July 11) Make something healthful (doesn't have to be a Sparkrecipe) and try to make enough to share with a guest or have as leftovers.
July 12) Write a SparkPeople blog (or set up a SparkPeople profile Web page if you haven't already).
July 13) Try a recipe from SparkRecipes.com and report on it.
July 14) Incorporate some strength training today - don't overdo it if you're new to it, though!

Even though today was not a gym day, I went and worked cardio for 45 minutes and burned about 650 cal - I went about 640 over on them last night b/w mexican food and snacking.

Also, today, I did a strength training circuit. First time since April. My kick ass song: STANDING IN THE WAY OF CONTROL by the gossip. It ended up being the first on my mp3 player when I started at the gym, and it really got me going!

Good for you, Vegpunk. Man...yesterday was TERRIBLE. I was in a grumpy mood from being out the night before (I guess I've become a cantankerous old man...hate being around lots of people) and after the gym last night went WAY over on my calories. I am trying to decide whether to go to the gym right now...an extra day...to compensate for going over by ~639 calories. I think I will, and do some free weights for a few minutes when I get home. Will share a kick ass song then. Grrr...so mad at myself, when I'd been doing SOOOO well.

Oh! ha ha! A mall! Sorry. I just have to laugh. the nearest one is over an hour and a half's drive away. And it's tiny. I couldn't sleep last night b/c of the heat so I got up at 5:30 and walked between 5:55 and 6:45. It was already 90 degrees, but I managed 50 minutes. I also did a few strength exercises-just 4 easy ones. Ate 3 separate meals instead of lumping them into two huge ones. It was wonderul and scary at the same time since I have been in such a habit of restricting entire meals and going into binges other times. Forgot one fruit, but I had 4 total for the day anyway, and 5 or six veggies. Blogged yesterday_I followed your lead, babypop, and posted on the other july board. emoticon

Vegpunk - doesn't sound like a good idea to exercise in that heat...maybe you could find a mall to walk in or something. I see people doing that sometimes.

Shelly Dawn - what was your recipe?!?!

I accidentally posted in the other July thread - I blogged last night but was exhausted and feeling ick b/c of being in smoke last night, so it's sort of incoherant.

I think today is the "official" make a Sparkrecipe day, but since I did that earlier in the week, I'll be thinking up an inspirational (?) song to share with everyone.

I guess we need to come up with some daily-challenges for next week...any thoughts, or just repeat the same ones?

The good: I resisted the pies, ice cream and brownies yesterday
The bad: I skipped breakfast and lunch today to B/P, costing $40 extra on the grocery bill.
The ugly: I did it twice. And I am paying for it w/ heartburn and acid reflux.

And, still no real effort for exercise. Okay, no effort. But can you blame me? The temp is 115 outside, barely under 100 when the sun is absent. House is in the 80s w/ cooler and fans on high. All I can do is melt into the couch.

I made my healthy sparks recipe yester day and it was surprisingly VERY GOOD it was a big hit with the kiddos as well. I made the peach trifle i did not over eat yester day either although my protein was REALLY high i did stay with in my calories! plus did tons of walking and of course running when the blasted older kids decied to start throughing bob cats towards the adults to make us dance LOL! Its back to work today so i will talk to you guys tomorrow!

That sounds fun Michelle! Its hard keeping up with kids :)I ran around with two 3 year olds yesterday

Babypop, nice recipe tasting! I hate it when my meat has fat chunks so I feel your pain, icky! But the rest sounded good! I have to try one, maybe this weekend when I have time! Im excited now

Yah for getting the job VegPunk! Congrats :)

I ate alot at the fourth cookout yesterday, but then did an hour on the treadmill with the incline all the way up power walking while I read, so it was a good end to the day. Tonight Im back to yoga.

I agree with not weighing every day, I am usually between 145 and 150, so its pointless to weigh myself, as long as I feel good is my moto :)

I had fresh strawberries yum.... Tok my son to the park chased and ran with him, then we walked the track for an hour. Good stuff, later we will go out in the backyard and kick his soccer ball around. So all in all an active great day. Weight is the same but its only been a day since I really got back on board. I quit smoking for 4 months and really packed it on. I started back :( but what to get my weight back under control.

Ha ha - yes, contrary to popular belief here, "American" isn't the exclusive right of inhabitants of the US. Sounds like you're off to a good start. Try not to weigh in more than once a week or so - weight fluxuates throughout the day so being that we're only 3.5 days into the challenge, don't sweat it if your needle hasn't moved on the scale.

I am so glad we decided to do this challenge - it feels great to be back on track and cooking healthy, delicious food! Of course, I have a bachelorette tomorrow and wedding to go to on Sat...I'm the DD tomorrow so at least I won't be getting the beer calories then...hopefully I an keep it up at the wedding with cake, etc, around, though. :)

So my start weight for this challenge was 210 and as far as I know I am still there for the start of this challenge. I have done them so far... I am American, in Canada and will celebrate that I am not under the thumb of George W Bush as leader of the country.. but I am still American so Happy 4th to everyone!

Healthful - Lunch was tuna with light mayo on wheat and a peach.

Derby Luv to ya!

Well, today was my job interview. I am "conditionally hired pending the results of a background check"--in other words: I have a job!!! It is at Mervyns. Despite my urges to B/P, I remained a good girl and didn't. I ate closer to my recommended range, ate a fresh green salad (part of 6 veggie servings today). I have had 5 servings of fruit too. I am planning a walk for 7:45/8pm. Just a short easy one so as to not strain my ribs. So, decent day I suppose emoticon
Oh, and I have hated watermelon almost my whole life but seem to like it this year. odd.

Oh yeah - well let's post weights and have today as our starting weight, as I forgot to do this earlier and the last day of July is also a Tues, so this will give us 4 weigh ins. (Of course, you are free not to do this if your goal is not weight-related.) My official SW for this challenge is 185.5. My GW by the end of the month is 178.5.

Since my cooking time is limited, I'm doing the recipe assignments tonight - cooking the creamy ranch pork chops and rice with a sweet potato and green beans. Also later tonight or early tomorrow I am making ElaineHN's Black Bean & Corn Salad for a healthy Independence Day dish.

My dinner - porkchops w/ rice, 1/4 can of green beans, and a sweet potato, nuked, and eaten plain, came in under 500 calories. The recipe for pork chops/rice was pretty simple - put 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, brown the chops on either side, and then add a "gravy" - skim milk, 1/2 packet of ranch mix, and a can of cream of mushroom soup. After browning the meat and adding the gravy sauce stuff till boiling, I put a lid on and let the chops cook on a simmer-medium setting for @ 8 minutes. Flipped them over and did the same again. In the meantime, I had some rice in the rice steamer and added the other 1/2 of the ranch packet to that. I nuked the sweet potatoes and the green beans, and everything was warm and ready by the time the meat was done.

The boy and I were both satisfied with this recipe. My only complaint was that it was a little salty - don't know if that was the packet seasoning (I used generic) or the cream of mushroom soup...wonder if they make that low-sodium. Should've trimmed the fat off the chops - they looked lean so I didn't think to do it, but yeck, taking a bite into grissle is nasty. I also should've tenderized them b/c they were sort of thick.

Overall, a good recipe, and theoretically the recipe calls for ingredients you'd probably have on hand anyway.

I am WAY into this challenge!! Even with yesterday's not eating at home at all, I still managed to be pretty good. One McDonald's cheeseburger was filling... even though it made me really sleepy! (It made me really wonder what was in it... emoticon

Otherwise, I worked out for 20 minutes this afternoon until it got too hot. I might, no... I WILL do some elliptical later tonight.

Hope you all have a great 4th!!

NATURALDANCER~ Congrats!!!

VEGPUNK~Ouch! ahh Warp tour, such fun

Watermelon! Love watermelon :)

I have had a bad start to July, I couldnt exercise all weekend, and then yesterday I only got 13 minutes of walking in (but on a treadmill with incline all the way up), and tommorrow is a birthday party/fourth of July-but Im not going to eat junk! Fight the will lol. And I voted for Bush...2x! hehe.

I have already had 1 serving of veggies and 1 of fruit so far and its not even noon here, so thats good. My music today has been Dash Board's new album, skipping over the "you have stolen my heart" song. Ever notice when you dont exercise, you are super hungry?? whats up with that??

Ha - I love what you say about watermelons. I wrote a poem about someone selling watermelons on the side of the road. Hopefully it'll be in print soon. :)

Vegpunk - DUH! Should've read your posts more carefully. Well hopefully you'll feel better soon...maybe you could go on and do a little bit of weightlifting indoors and if it cools down later in the week (doubtful, I know), go for a short walk after sunset.

I am going to either do the SP recipe today instead of Friday (won't have time to cook that day) or tomorrow in conjunction with the "make something healthful" assignment.

So far, so good. Managed to stay below my calories yesterday as well, even though I was zoned out in front of the TV and laptop.

sorry i wasnt a little more detailed yesterday when i posted but was in a hurry so i just chimed in

july first was easy for me i bought a watermelon the 30th and cut it ALL up so when i want a snack now I just go to the fridge and chow down on melon (being from a rural area we have actual farmers that sit road side selling fresh fruits and veggies from there garden and i just love it through summer

i done alot yesterday and feel the burn something severe i gardened a little (not my thing i have a black thumb so i tend to kill the plants LOL) i decied to wak to my neighors rather than drive last night (which is a good half a mile) and I also played a little football with the boys something i have not done in AGES!

Today will be an easy day for me cause we are going to the lake for a little picnic so i will get PLENTY of excercise with swimming and chasing the kids around we are taking 4 kids with us ages are 13 12 4 and 2! So i will have PLENTY of chasing to do to keep up with the babies and making sure they stay safe!

Vegpunk- I am sorry you had a bad couple of days but I know you will feel better soon so chin up girl! Take care of those beaten ribs and feel better!

No, the rib issue is from being crushed (I was trying to get out via crowd surfing, was dropped, hoisted back up then smashed by heads and shoulders while on my side. Agony! I am surprised they didn't break) during the Bad Religion set at Warped on Saturday. It was noticeable then, annoying yesterday and debilitating today. Hope tomorrow is better. And, I would love to walk after my interview, but it is simply too hot. It is in the mid-90s by 8am and stays that way-or hotter-until after 9pm. It's usually low 100s. sad. I will try to figure something out.

Sorry you had a rough day, but I think it's good that you also highlighted your successes. Is the rib cage thing b/c of B/P? Well, after your interview, why not take a short walk tomorrow? And good luck with the job!

(I am a TERRIBLE fingernail eater as well...they'll look so good, then something rough...and they're gone. Well, at least I actually have nails sometimes, I never did when I was a kid or teenager, I bit them so badly.)

Well, I put up a good fight. I was feeling - um, not so great - this morning so I opted out of exercise. Ribcage hurts worse than ever. Ate a decent breakfast and watched tv, but when my dad said he wouldn't be home for lunch, I got anxious and went on to B/P for 80 minutes. The 'P' part was terrible b/c of my ribs. BUT, I ate 4 veggie servings-fresh, not frozen or as a sauce (like spaghetti). I had almost 6 servings of fruit, and I am in my usual calorie range (though not SP's range). So, not a complete failure. I chewed my fingernails to nubs too from anxiety. I have a job interview at Mervyn's tomorrow-nervous excitement. still no strength exercises because of my ribcage--I struggle to even sit up or roll over. I can't remember the other goals at the moment. . .

We're off to a good start, everyone!

And VegPunk, you can do the activities in the challenge, just without the goal of losing weight. Maybe it will help you stay on track with your workouts and *hopefully* help reduce occurrence of B/P since you have a team working towards a goal!

I went for an easy walk. Too hot at 7:30 pm. Tshirt rubbed my sunburn. Very winded since I haven't exercised in days. I also couldn't expand my lower rib cage to breathe b/c of having it smashed in yesterday at Warped Tour. Yesterday was so fun even if I do have to suffer for it. And I am glad that I finally had some motivation to walk--even if it did take me 43 minutes to walk 2 miles. My muscles are like jello. Need lots of sleep. I've taken quite a bit of Ibuprofen today too. Over 1 gallon of water. Ate my vegan foods and lots of yummy produce (my favorites). Considered a blog today, but I have already written 6 pages in my journal (a legal pad). Trying to figure out tomorrow w/o too much "future tripping." b/c that causes anxiety.
Best wishes to everyone!

I'm in! Here's me so far today . . .

1) Fruit: Tasty apricots

2) Today was a cardio day, but I spent good time outside weeding the front yard. I embrace my suburbanitude!

3) Listening to my iPod while gardening. Green Day: Holiday made me happy. Yeah, it's Green Day, but they get my toes tapping.

4) My favorite fetish club is on Wednesday nights. I will celebrate my independence by going out and being with my fetishy peeps! I'm sure they'll do something silly to celebrate it being the 4th . . .

5) I need to blog more frequently. I commit to blogging daily for this challenge.

6) I don't cook much. This challenge will be good for me if it makes me do so!

7) Having done cardio & garden work, I'll just toss off a few crunches later while watching the Simpsons .. . tomorrow is a ig strength day for me (I have a class I really like at my gym).

Hmmm. . . I really shouldn't lose weight, even as much as I would like to do so. I eat about 4-6 servings of fruits and the same of veggies each day. And cardio is hard where I am due to the heat. I would have to go out after dark or before sunrise-not safe. But I will think of something to work on.

Natural dancer, CONGRATULATIONS! I think there is a sister site to this called SparkBabies (?) for women wanting to get/stay healthy during/after pregnancy.

Goldie - way to go! Maybe you can put your motivation/prizes in the "July mini-goals" thread as well. Cherries sound yum!

Fruit today: Banner! And special awesomeness in resisting greasy hospital food.

I am SO STOKED to do this challenge.

I have been waiting (I don't know why) for something to kick my butt into gear! I just read the 5-factor Diet this morning, some good information about strength training and eating right. Nothing too outstanding though.

I did though make a list of "prizes" that I was going to get myself as I lose weight. That was really motivating. It ranges from silly things like a new lipgloss (1%) to an outfit (20%). I figured that as I hit milestones, the prizes should get better and better. Nothing too expensive though... It's a thought if you want to look forward to something tangible as you lose!

Anyway, I digress... I am working out later this afternoon, and have been pretty good with eating this first day!!!

CHALLENGE 1 COMPLETE: 1/2 cup of cherries!!!

It is finally upon us.

The inspiration (sort of) of this challenge is this song: http://tinyurl.com/28ww7p

As our loverly member Shelly_Dawn pointed out, another inspiration song for the month might be "Seven," by Prince & the NPG. We will smoke them (pounds) all!

The idea is this: lose 7 lbs in the 7th month of 2007. Simple, eh?

Of course, you can shoot for more. Or less. For example, if you prefer, shoot for losing .7% of your body weight/week:

150 * .007 = 1.05 lb first week
175 * .007 = 1.225 lb first week
etc...

Try to join up and check in daily. I will be posting daily teeny-goals for this challenge week by week. I may need some help with this (see the "brainstorming thread") if I can't get enough time to post up.

We've all been making progress, and I only speak for myself, but I've gotten really lax in the last month or two. Time to kick it up and get some follow through!

Here are the assignments for the first 7 days:

July 1) Eat a piece of fruit today.
July 2) Take a 10-15 minute walk outside; if it's a gym/cardio day for you anyway, add an extra 10-15 minutes if you'd rather do that. (But hey, being outdoors is nice!)
July 3) If you get the urge to overeat/emotional eat/binge eat today, instead, listen to a kick ass song and drink a glass of water. Share with us what song it was.
July 4) Happy 4th! Celebrate your independence by making something healthful for any celebration you attend. If you are not a resident of the U.S.A. do the same in celebration that George W. Bush is not your puppet-in-chief.
July 5) Write a SparkPeople blog (or set up a SparkPeople profile Web page if you haven't already).
July 6) Try a recipe from SparkRecipes.com and report on it.
July 7) Incorporate some strength training today - don't overdo it if you're new to it, though!

This is a work in progress so feel free to post suggestions. I will try to come up with some participation prize for the end - don't know that there's a "winner" per se, but I'd like to reward everyone for getting through the challenge.
