Congrats on all your successes VEGPUNK! And everyone!! My mini-goal for this month is to work out 6 days/week and so far, I've been doing really well!! I've finally found a DVD workout that I LOVE and another that I do with my husband that I really like, so I'm excited! So I just need to keep pressing play! =)

nice goal! I just did some cleaning today--I actually put ALL of my laundry away, swifferd the kitchen floor, did the dishes, and more. I always put off cleaning, so I understand how big of a "mini-goal" it can be! emoticon

I joined a bit late to start the july challenge. But for me, I want to blitz-clean my house before the end of the month. And less sitting around THINKING about what I should be doing, and more getting off my backside and DOING it.

Mini goal 10% weight loss from 144.5 (mar) by 15th may.
Current 144.5 = % target - 130

Waist:height ratio target: 44% (waist 29")
current: 61.5% (highly obese :( )
current BMI 23.8 (normal!!!)

Any updates? How is everyone doing? I have found a job I like, and may get that bike I've wanted for years by October! For now it is bill-payin' money, then saving once those nasty things are out of the way. So far, I don't think I have hit double digits yet with the b/p so hooray for improvement!
Cardio has taken a major backseat this summer, but I don't seem to feel all that concerned with it.

Okay, I am WAY late on this thread! Can't believe the month is almost over! I want in next month for sure!!
For the remainder of this month, I am not spending any more money on lunch. I have been allowing myself to go out too much lately and it is hurting my waistline AND my funds!

If it is to be, it is up to me!

My mini-goals for the month~(I know I'm late!!)
~Only drink on sunday. Beer has really packed on the pounds, methinks.
~Only drink water. No milk, juice, soda or other.

It'll be hard because when Mr. Man brings home a yummy 12 pack, it's very tempting...and I can't drink lite beer (yuck!) I'm partial to very dark heavy stouts...or wheat...

My reward at the end of the month will be (hopefully) a few pounds lighter, and a haircut!emoticon

Hello. Um, I am up to 5 B/P days so far. numbers are climbing. Grr. Today was planned for weeks since my dad is camping for the weekend. I spent $8.50 more than I had so my account is negative. Bigger gggrrrr. Work was good yesterday. I am in the kids dept at mervyns. I go in tomorrow for training. Nervous. But, my slogan is "make it work" as Tim Gunn from project runway says, and I remind myself that this job's income is my ticket out of here (desert, dad's house).

My goals for July:

-To get into a new decade: 229.5
-To journal my food honestly, daily for the rest of the month.
-Weight train legs, arms and abs once a week.

My reward for completing goals:
Not sure yet. I usually buy myself an iTunes card when I hit a new decade. I'll have to think about what I want/need, make up three mini rewards, one for each goal.

My goal is to stick to my fitness plan for one day at a time. I often become overwhelmed with "having to workout all week...) but when i think of it one day...it makes it easier. That is my JULY GOALS...little late in the game though...the first week has already passed by....

I was in a bad gloomy slump for the first couple days of the month but here's my plan now:

- do resistance band arms and/or the SP butt blaster video at least 5x a week
- stick to a budget (particularly for clothes/shoes)
- do not binge.

oh, and, fit back into those stupid pants of mine!

reward? take a little overnight trip to LA to see Combichrist next month. mmm, combichrist live...

That all sounds doable. I especially like your rewards. Have you talked to your OB/GYN to make sure it's okay that you exercise normally? A friend of mine quit doing Curves when she was pregnant, but I don't know if that was just b/c she didn't really feel like it or b/c her Dr. told her to.

Hey guys,
Well....hurm I am working 2 jobs, and going to school, not to mention the little one..So Baby planning is def the key. I am going to get at least 4 days of cardio in a week, no less than 30 mins each time. I am going to alternate weights in between those days. get my 8 glasses a day. Start keeping track of my daily food intake in a journal again. I want to lose 10lbs this month. I also need a little motivation and support so I'll try my best to get my daily does of spark as well. I will reward myself with Ruby Woo mac lipstick, and maybe a new shadow or two. :)

I just moved back to Texas after finishing school in Oklahoma and I'm having a bit of trouble adjusting. One of my goals for the month is to get back on track with my strength training, cardio has been okay.

I also want to try to vary up my cardio workouts so I don't get too bored. I have some great exercise tapes, but it's been hard to find a time to use them. So, I want to do at least one DVD a week.

Hey everyone
Sorry I haven't been so active with spark lately. Entering into the "real world" takes so much of the time in my day, 12 hours of it at least. I have gone off track with my workouts. So, my July goal is to really get myself into my real workout pattern.

I have to find my best times for workouts. Maybe a walk through the city during my lunch break when I usually read? Maybe I start waking up at 4:30 in the morning instead of 5:15 to fit in a morning workout? Or after work, instead of coming home and falling onto the couch saying "oooh i need to lay down!" I can change right into my clothes and go play some tennis or get a yoga practice in before dinner. Whatever it is that works best for me, I need to make it a habit, a part of my regular day, no questions asked.

July goal: find my "real world" work out routine and get back to losing this weight!

My goal is to do the PRS&B challenge and STAY IN MY MF-ing calories!!! Another goal is to contact a therapist and make an appointment for some time in the near future. I have two really big/stressful days coming up this month - oncology checkup and traffic court, so I am going to really try hard not to backslide into bad eating habits out of fear of them.

Reward: Haircut and feeling smug around people I don't like. emoticon

Akashamommy - You'd be amazed at how quickly the calories decrease and weight comes off when you cut out drinking. I have decreased it substantially this year (totally cut it out during lent) and it's just better over all. (Not to mention I've just naturally been drinking alcohol less as I get older...28-year-old can't quite keep up with the newly-21s!) What is your reward for the month? Do you have a plan in place for how you'll do this (i.e., drinking more water?)

I am going to cut out drinking alcohol for awhile, as I have gained all of this weight due to my drinking for the past year. I will stop this today.

I am also attempting to start my excersize plan as wwell to work out at the gym a few times a week.

Okay, I will go easy on myself this month. Instead of no B/P, I will just try to cut back a bit (12 days of June and quite a bit of money spent emoticon)
Reward will be more money!

I am still on the hunt for a job. I would like to save 2/3 of my paychecks (assuming I can get a job).
Reward will be more independence and less stress.
And hopefully a bicycle.

Punk Rock slash and burners should know the drill. For the unacquainted and newbies, I'll fill you in on the short version of this thread.

*Pick a few goals for the month (or even just one day or week at a time)
*Try to have at least one goal that isn't just the broad, "I want to lose x lbs this month." (e.g. getting enough water, stretching, doing x minutes of cardio activity x days per week, handling stress better etc.)
*Here's the tricky part: also try to include a detailed plan of how you will attain your goals. (e.g., if your goal is, "I want to refrain from emotional eating this month," then your specific plan could be, "Instead of eating through my emotions, I'll drink a tall glass of water, and work on a craft project or some other creative endeavor, and post on the SP message board for support.)
*Finally, think of a little reward you'd like to treat yourself to at the end of the month for reaching your goal.

If you are at all interested in participating in the first (that I know of) Punk Rock Slash-n-Burn Challenge, please sign up. It is a "7"-themed challenge so read all about it, and if you'd to do that in conjunction with your regular goals for July, please do so!

Also, check previous "Mini-Goals" threads to see kind of how they work - it's very informal, and please check up on each other at least once a week! It's how we keep one another motivated.

Finally, here is a corny thing I posted in another thread and have posted in my bedroom and on my desk at work. Please copy it, save it on your desktop, print it put, and put it wherever you can see it if you think it will motivate you!

JUST FOR TODAY: I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once.

I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things I can correct, and accept those I cannot.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable. I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I'll not speak ill of others. I will improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking.

Just for today, I will refrain from improving anybody but myself.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will do something positive to improve my health. If I'm a smoker, I'll quit. If I am overweight, I will eat healthfully -- if only just for today. And not only that, I will get off the couch and take a brisk walk, even if it's only around the block.
