Way to go Serpentine! I guess I should share one success: yesterday, I put on a pair of jeans from my "too small" closet section (I'd tried them a few months ago and they went on but were still too snug to walk around in without camel toe action) and they fit and are actually sort of roomy, which is fine for work, and slouching around in but not for going out. Yay!

Keep at it and keep your goals in mind for July and post in that thread too.

Well, I can pull the pants up over my butt (but not every pair) but they certainly don't really fit without that glamorous muffin top. But, I can tell my hips are more toned, and I've certainly been doing a lot more work with weights. I ate out for lunch almost every day this week, thanks to the quarter break at work and too much time on our hands. I've kind of been more vocal, but not really. I don't consider June a failed effort but one that's going to take a LOT more time than a month, bah!

Hey ya'll, I'm un-sticky-ing this topic a little bit early to make way for July info, as I don't know that I'll get a chance to on the 1st. Sorry!

Please check in and let us know how you finished the month out.

I won't be getting the haircut, looks like :(

It has been really difficult...graduating, and my dad in the hospital for 2/3 of the month - I am proud to say that even though I've over-done my calories (too much on-the-go eating) I have at least maintained my workouts and generally stayed the same weight. Hopefully I'll get unstuck next month!

That is wonderful, on all counts! (I especially like your last goal and could use it for myself!)

Check the July challenge brainstorming thread, too. I'll start a new july goals thread and a separate thread for the challenge.

This Month I hope to:
#1 first and most important to me.
-Get through PMS without binging or eating foods that will throw my entire month of hard work off track.
- Drink more water.
-Make less excuses and handle stress and anger in more productive ways.

Reward:
I've lost 40 pounds +++ Since I started really making the effort. I have two full day tattoo appointments booked for july. Progress is being made with many things that are important to me in my life and for that I am thankful.

Back to 189 this week, which is where I started the month. Urgh. I know I've hit a plateau and need to be doing more, not less, but I've been slacking in my eating and not really pushing myself with my exercise.

I wish I could be as motivated as I was at the beginning of the year...I'm about 14 lbs. above where I'd like to be at this point...

Hang in there, Vegpunk! I've been doing lousy this month as well! Why not join the July challenge - hopefully a little more structured/checkin-in than the regular monthly threads. I am so lazy as of late.

Hmmm. . . applied to bunches of places and kept checking in. No job. Sad. Also had ten B/P days, gained and lost pounds here and there. I did handle a BBQ well. For the most part. Exercise is so-so. Dropped my PE courses at school before I even started. Rough month.

I've been doing ok...I've had some emotional high calorie days too. This Sun. & Mon. I was on a trip for work and had about 2100 calories each day emoticon and way too little sleep. but most of it was worth it. As far as the smaller pants go...I was wearing them yesterday! So, I'm not too worried, just trying to stay on track. I didn't run all last week, so I need to do that this week.

How is everyone doing now that we're about mid-way? I've had some setbacks but am getting back on track eating wise. I was 191 last Tuesday, two pounds more than the 189 I'd been holding steady all month. I was 187 today! I know some of it was water weight, but any little bit helps.

Gotta learn to deal with the stress better...going back to emotional eating is no good.

Mini-goals for this month

-Increase my cardio by 6 minutes a session
This can either be an increase in intesity or length of work out or both. So I'll either amp up the intesity for just two songs or tack another six minutes on the end.
-Finish my Corporate Crime class
I'm doing a self-paced MBA program and I've been dragging butt doing the assignments. So I'm going to set aside one hour a day to just write these assignements.

A reward and not (because I'm going either way). My trip to Seattle at the end of the month. Yay!!! If I get all my mini-goals accomplished I can enjoy my trip guilt-free.

I had been thinking about mine the other day...here's what I came up with: Fit into my pants from 2003/4....only one size smaller, really close, I just need to push myself out of the munchy comfort zone I've been in for months. Also, increase jogging to 25-30 minutes; I've been doing 20 minutes for a month & would like to bump it up. Last...non-fitness...Make a daily effort to speak up & take initiative.

I'll come up with rewards someday, I swear.

Vegpunk, I was unemployed a few months ago, and I just forced myself to apply & send out resumes for a few hours every day until something worked out. Not everyone responded, but I got enough responses to get a really awesome job. So just keep your head up and keep trying...don't try to rely on the any one job or one person, keep your options open and keep on applying!

Wow, well, I haven't really given any thought to goals this month. I suppose I will just persevere and hope somebody will give me a job! I have been skipping some of my meds because I can't afford refills. I feel helpless since I have to wait on other people to respond to my applications. It is so difficult getting a job where I live. But, I plan to get something this month. Here's hoping someone will hire me!

Oh - I forgot my goals!

My SW is 189 (hope that's what the scale says tomorrow, anyway!), so I'd like to be GW 181-183 by the end of the month. Also, since I was really stressed about school last month, I went over my eating calories a *lot* and haven't been getting my water and fruits/veggies like I should. *SO* I want to make a point to plan/make dinner one evening per week. I am usually good about bringing good things for lunch, but it's when I get home and don't feel like cooking, so once a week, at least - something good, good for me, and NOT of the frozen pasta/stirfry/pizza variety!

Also, I am now going to the gym 3x/week for 35 min. of cardio. I would like to add to this 1x/week for 35 minutes getting some "non-gym" workout time, i.e., batting cages, taking a walk, etc. Just to help me incorporate physical activity into life activities in general.

To reward myself, I'll cash in the gift certificate for a massage that I got for graduation, and also treat myself to a much-needed hair cut.

By now, you should know the drill. If not, go back and read previous "mini goals" threads. The short version: pick a few goals for the month (or even just one day or week at a time), try to have at least one goal that isn't just "I want to lose x lbs," (i.e., getting enough water, stretching, etc). Here's the tricky part: also try to include a detailed plan of how you will attain your goals. Finally, think of a little reward you'd like to treat yourself to at the end of the month.

Also, it's mid-year and maybe some of us aren't quite bathing-suit ready, or feeling down because maybe we aren't where we thought we'd be by June. To that, I say bollocks! The fact that we're here at all means we're taking positive steps to get in the habit of creating a healthy lifestyle.

I have posted this elsewhere on SP, but thought it may be of help to newbies and people who, like me, find it easier to get discouraged than feel encouraged. Please copy it, save it on your desktop, print it out, and put it wherever you can see it!

JUST FOR TODAY: I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once.

I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things I can correct, and accept those I cannot.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable. I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I'll not speak ill of others. I will improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking.

Just for today, I will refrain from improving anybody but myself.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will do something positive to improve my health. If I'm a smoker, I'll quit. If I am overweight, I will eat healthfully -- if only just for today. And not only that, I will get off the couch and take a brisk walk, even if it's only around the block.
