Well, the last week & 1/2 of May, I couldn't check in much b/c I was in my final residency and received my Master's degree on 6/1. I was in school from around 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and didn't eat as well as I could have - ALTHOUGH I did manage to get to the gym on the days I was supposed to. Yesterday (Sunday) was my first non-school related day in 6 months and it was also a gym day but I didn't go. Going to get my tail over there to "make up" for not going yesterday.

I am down to 189 (though that may be up by tomorrow) so I just barely missed my goal. I bought a really nice dress for graduation in misses size 14! *and* it looks like it may need to be taken in a bit. CRAZINGS!

Good job checking in, everyone. We're at a beginning of a new month, so I'll start a new thread if someone hasn't already.

Binged and purged my way through the end of the month, skipped exercise, and never got hired even though I applied to loads of places. Grrrr!

Well...I did pretty good in May. Better the first few weeks than the last two, but that was because I had 2 performances & was motivated to stay on track. If I have nothing coming up......I'm munchy. I think I only missed 2-3 days of running, I even did some weekends. My arms are the same size, but more toned / less flabby. And I did get my hair cut! Just trimmed in a "v," but it's super cute.

How did everyone else do?

Wow, Vegpunk, sounds like you've been really productive - keep up the good work! I am also looking for a new job (though currently employed), and my strategy is, if I saturate the job market enough with my resume, sooner or later, someone will have to bite!

LOL @ Jemstar. I would find it very hard to stay on track being a cake decorator. I'm afraid my employer would find me in quite a shameful position with the icing. :)

I've been slacking pretty hardcore. Mother's Day weekend was rough and I worked about a gazillion hours (I decorate cakes), ate way too much pizza 'cause I was too lazy to cook, and lost pace with my cardio... but now I think it's time I stopped using that as an excuse.

Stretching is moving up to #1 priority. The other night I found myself in a "situation" where it would have been really nice to be as flexible as I used to be, but no such luck. Gotta work on that.

Let's see. . . maintaining at 121 and I am okay with that. I applied for a job at albertsons yesterday and may try elsewhere later this week. Had a good week of exercise and I think 4 days w/o my ED. I have washed and put away my laundry all in the same day for the weeks this month--I usually just dump the clean clothes on the floor and never do anything about them. I also--gasp!---washed my car!! I joke that it gets an annual bath. I washed it at the start of the year but spun out into the desert in the rain and it remained super muddy for 3 months while I procrastinated. But it is clean now! Makes me smile to look at it. So, May is not a total waste.emoticon

Just checking in with everyone.

On my last weighin, I was down to 193. My next official one is this coming Tuesday. If I can get down to 191, I *may* meet my goal of 6 lbs yet.

Also, I had my plan set to put me at 125 by 12/31/2007. Since I've been pretty stagnant the last few months, I felt like that was no longer realistic, so I plugged in my weight/rate of loss, and have decided my long term goal for being @ 125 will be 3/2008.

I think that, at the rate of 1.5 lbs/week, though, I should be between 170-150 by year end, which really, will put me at a size 10-14, not too shabby IMO. 125 is towards the mid-to-low end of my "normal" BMI, so even though 125 is my ultimate goal, I'm not going to beat myself up if I get to 140 and stay there.

How is everyone else doing! Try to check in once a week or so, so we can keep one another motivated. Start thinking ahead to what you'd like to do in June, too!

Thanks for the encouragement. I tried to plan food and job hunt and exercise times today, but ended up in 2 horrible binges. Ugh. My insides hurt. I have written a new blog entry that sheds some light on this and the job issue.

Sounds good, Serpentine!

Vegpunk - sorry this month is turning out to be quite a challenge for you. Do you think having a job might help you keep wraps on your ED? (I don't know, it is just a thought.) Maybe you could set a mini-mini goal for today through Saturday, scheduling an amount of time per day to job hunt in earnest, polish your resume, etc., and also scheduling some time for yourself - maybe a leisurely trip to the library, a walk, thrifting, etc? I am not sure what your situation is (i.e., if you have school/family obligations that eat up a lot of your time), but you may find success breaking your mini-goal into smaller increments! Best of luck!

Doing better with my arms while dancing...I've been slacking a little on exercising them with weights, but I feel like I've made some progress. They don't seem to be quite so flabby, but who knows. I have been doing great with exercise in general - getting up early to do it before work is much easier for me, so I've been getting something in every day.

I'm right on track with my goals. I'm down to 246.6 and as long as I can maintain 2 lbs down per week I'll be just under 240 by Vegas.

I also managed to not only go 30 mins on the elliptical but I've been doing so with resistances.

My hard work is surely paying off, I just realized the pants that I'm wearing are ones I thought I threw out for being too small. emoticon

Hey all -

Just wanting to check in and see how everyone is doing in May. I've been good about getting my workouts and water in, but have been going over on my calories. I'd say if I can at least stay the same weight through May, pretty much, I'll be satisfied. I've been having some major personal/family problems, and gearing up for my last residency and graduation, so it's been hard to give 100%.

How is everyone else coming along?

Jemstar - yes, that counts!

When I moved to the city where I currently live, it took me 3+ years to find a GP that I liked. She recommended me a GYN because I hadn't been able to find one, and the last person that did it in that *3 year* span left and her replacement sucked, so when I finally found a good doctor, abnormalities had already formed beyond carcinoma in situ to stage 1 cancer. So YES YES YES, girl, DO IT! I put it off for longer than I should've because for one I am just pretty shy about anyone seeing my lady parts all up close and personal, and because I couldn't find anyone I'd feel comfortable with. That turned out to be TOO LONG, though, on the other hand, it scares me to think of people I know that haven't been in 5, 10, 15, 20 years, and if that had been me, I would've died an early death. Not trying to preach, just trying to give you a real life (or real life message board) example of why it is such a positive thing to do even if it's kind of miserable to set up the appt., go see the Dr., etc.

Coke Zero is good. I just had my first one in a long time a few weeks ago with no problems, but when I was buying and drinking it often, I found that I was getting really nauseous and headaches in the afternoon, so I quit.

Does making a gyne appointment count as a mini-goal? I hate doing that, but it's about time for one...

Failing that, I guess I've got the same goals as ever. Keep up the cardio, add more strength training, and definitely do more stretching. These have been my goals for months and I can never stick to the stretching part. =
Vulgarstephanie, have you tried Coke Zero? It has no calories but it doesn't have the "diet" taste... I don't think so, anyway.

I'm not off to a good start so far. I'm dropping weights from my Sunday workout until June, after I graduate. I have been going over my calories at night. I'll be perfectly within my range then get the munchies around 11 or so, usually craving protien (nuts, peanut butter, cheese.) (sigh)

* stick to my calorie range and eat clean
* lose at least 10 pounds by the end of the month
* post at least one message per day on the boards (sounds silly but sometimes I just get so caught up in reading that I end up without time to post lol)
* get to the gym 5 times per week (which I usually do but I want to continue doing)...

For weekly success my reward shall be a massage at week's end and for the end of the month... let's see... this is definitely hard... I have no idea... I'll figure something out soon lol...

Mini Goals for May:

-Get outside more; walks at the park, picnics, frisbee, etc.
-Make the switch to Diet Coke while drinking.
-Weigh myself and actually have lost weight!

I tried Diet Coke last night....and hated it. Really need to do it though, the coke is putting my calories way over. Hopefully I'll acquire I taste for it!

*edit*
-I'd also like to make some friends on SP...have people to talk to and get encouragement and motivation from!

My mini goals for May are:

~lose 8 lbs. I want to be under 240 by the time I go to Vegas in the beginning of June which puts me at a solid 2 lbs per week.

~30 mins on the elliptical. I've worked my way up to 15 mins at a time, adding another 15 in a month should be do-able.

There, I said it, now I have to do it.

Ha, great ones, the both of you!

And VegPunk - I am not trying to be nosy or scold you in any way, but I do especially wish you success in your goals. If you haven't already, I hope you are active in other groups on this site that are maybe more specialized for folks that have the same struggles as you, and that you are able to find success one day at a time, by finding methods and resources to deal with purging. (I don't know for sure, but I would assume they may be quite similiar as activities suggested for those of us who compulsively/emotionally over eat.) Good luck!

I'm going to work on my arms with weights 2-3 times a week. They are not very toned at all, and it's even been pointed out by my belly dance instructor that I'm not putting any effort into keeping them graceful/up while dancing...because they're so weak and flabby!

I really want to "reward" myself if I can get them toned up nicely...either a haircut, a tattoo, or a piercing...ah, indecision.

It may seem like a reward more than a goal, but I am going to try to get a manicure and pedicure this month. I have had gift certificates sitting around since November 06 and keep putting it off. I have never done eithe mani or pedi so it makes me nervous--I tend to stay within a very specific comfort/familiar zone. I am also going to make a serious attempt to abstain from my bulimia for at least 20 days. I usually can't make it a week lately. And the reward for that will be less heartburn/reflux, better health, more energy and more productive time spent.

I'm getting a bit of a late start, sorry!

Since I was pretty lax in April, I am carrying over my goals for last month:

* Lose 6-8 lbs from whatever my weigh-in today is (will post later) by doing 35 min of cardio 3x week
* Get down to a comfortable size 16 or even 14 in some things
* Do a full weight-training circuit at the gym 1x week (or can split into upper/lower body over 2 days)
* Drink at minimum 8 glasses of H20/day, shooting for at least 10 glasses
* Read my corny little affirmation each morning, like I used to do when I first started SP

My reward will be, as previously stated in April, my bike getting fixed, a haircut, or a softball bat.

I would up my cardio time to 4x week for 45 minutes, but I am in the final stretch of school before my last residency and graduation and want to be sure I pick something I can stick with. My band is playing with Turpentine Bros (!!!) on June 3, and I graduate on Juen 1, so I should have the motivation, I think!
