I just listened to Turbonegro's Apocalypse Dudes for the first time in years. I definitely need to put some things from there on my MP3 player!

Anything from the 80's metal scene gets played when i work out. Cheesy or not, who cares? Just get the blood pumping...one way or the other.

I've always had good luck with the Stray Cats. I know, I know, kind of silly, but if Rock This Town doesn't get you moving, you're unmovable.

Goalsies:
160 - new handbag
150 - new tattoo, botanical print.
140 - new pants. Nice ones not just cheapies from Target.
130 - Two or three new outfits including shoes. Mmmm...shoes...

pretty much anything that makes you want to move is good... i listen to a lot of the bouncing souls, mxpx, metric, reggie and the full effect, midtown... the list could go on...

a suggestion though, is to keep mixing it up. once youve heard a song multiple times in a week, it starts to lose that oomph that makes you want to move...

My current workout playlist has lots of ACDC, Rob Zombie, Sublime, The Cult, NIN, and Cake. It changes every couple weeks or so depending on my mood... sometimes its more mellow, sometimes alot of metal.

Shiny Toy Guns, Metric, Jonezetta, and all those other Post-Punk bands are great. I especially love Shiny Toy Guns. The Streets, Sneaker Pimps, IAMX, and Combichrist.

Radiohead is good for yoga to me anyway.

Also like old skool 80's such as Depeche Mode.

Hope it helps

Yeah....o.k. so I obviously need to check out the Timberlake album too....I also like Gwen Stefani, I was really surprised as to how much it makes me feel like moving...I listen to more laid back folk or mood music, slo-o-ow stuff, so hmmmm.....The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs are pretty upbeat also, and I agree with The Donnas suggestions also....sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Risk! Risk anything!...Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth.

never thought I'd see those words in the same sentence...Timberlake...awesome. I guess have to check it out now! For me...Bowling for soup, goldfinger or rufio does it! I have all kinds of stuff though, depends on my mood tho! Sometimes, nothing like AC/DC to get that ass movin, or depending on how cheesy I feel, there may be some whitesnake involved..."Here I go again on my own..."

Oh, yeah...my new fave "old" song: "Suffragette City" by David Bowie. That song is incredible! Why hasn't every punk band in the world covered that song????

I just won a Sandisk 1G MP3 player on ebay for $21.50 - I look forward to uploading some good workout songs on there by the end of the week! Not a whole lot of room for stuff (I'm a luddite but somehow have managed to get almost 4G worth of music on my work computer!) but plenty of room for some 30-minute workouts. Plus it will be nice to have the radio and portability for weights.

I'll second The Ramones!
I have a workout playlist on my iPod of stuff that keeps me motivated. Lately I've been getting really pumped up by "Search & Destroy" by Iggy Pop, and as dorky as it is, "Eye of the Tiger". :D

For me, the music has to be bouncy. The Ramones, some break-neck rockabilly, that kind of stuff. That'll keep me moving for quite awhile. emoticon

For me, it definitely varies. For years I've meant to make a "shiny happy upbeat pop-punk" mix to listen to while I work out, but it'd be good for, say, running on a treadmill, and I don't have a gym membership anymore, so the next time I see a treadmill could be a while (and yes, I know there's this thing called "pavement," but I hate to run outdoors). But it'd have stuff like Offspring, Bad Religion, Rancid, and that Jimmy Eat World song whose name is completely escaping me right now ("All I need is just to hear a song I know... I wanna always feel like part of this was mine").

I must admit that lately I have been working out to Timerlakes new c.d. for some reason it makes me shake my ass. My boyfriend came in with it and I was like um yeah dood Justin Timberlake right....Then he put it in and it grew on me..heh figures.
Death from above 1979 gets me amped but its nothing like what the dropkick murphys do to me. I can turbo clean with them.

So there is a thread on the Fastbreak board about workout songs and uplifting songs, and frankly, I just can't roll with the Bon Jovi and Rascall Flats, right?

What songs/albums do you listen to listen to when working out or when you need a pick-me-up?

Right now my CD player is giving me the fitts, I am saving up for an MP3 player to take to the gym, but I have had a good time working out to River City Tanlines, The Donnas newer albums, and The Muffs/The Beards. I also like to make mix CDs and give them to people and keep for myself, since I usually don't listen to them before I send out.

What about ya'll?
