Anyone into Joy Division? There is a movie in the works about Ian Curtis. I read about it on USA Today-Pop Candy. I think the article said there is a trailer for the film.

Joy Division is still one of my favorites and I still love to hear Ian Curtis.

I love that there are other people in the world that actually know who Blood for Blood and Agnostic Front ARE.

I agree. very fun to work out to. (except listening to blood for blood tends to make me violent haha. ) emoticon

Lately I've been listening to a lot of The Drunks, Hit The Lights, Blood For Blood, Perkele, Agnostic Front, Social D, Stray Cats, and Word For Word! A bit of a strange combination...

[EDIT]: I find it rediculously amusing (because I'm weird) that I posted RIGHT after you, Erica. Hehehe. We're so like THIS.

right now I'm rocking Mike Ness- Under The Influence, which I "borrowed" (aka stole with no intention of giving back) from my ex.

I'm also plesently suprised with how good the new Paramore album is. kinda sucks that they're getting all famous now. but still. it's quite good.

and as always, I'm listening to Dropkick Murphys on a regular basis, as well as Rancid, and my brother's hardcore band Word for Word

http://www.myspace.com/wordforwordNH

they just played with agnostic front, and I missed it cause I just moved to Georgia. damn.

My current band obsession is Black Tape for a Blue Girl. I also like Jill Tracy, Emilie Autumn, and Anders Manga. The Dresden Dolls are starting to sneek in there but not very fast.

Now I don't feel too embarrassed joining this place...now that I know I'm not the only Coheed and Cambria fan here...

They're my all-time favorite, but I also like Black Sabbath (and of course Ozzy Osbourne), The Used, My Chemical Romance, Nickleback, Green Day (mostly because I grew up listening to them), Cradle of Filth, Megadeth, Slayer, Disturbed...and way too many more to name.

As you can see, I have a hard time picking favories.

Okay, I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the new Tim Armstrong album. For those who are unfamiliar, he was the lead singer for Rancid. The whole album is very mellow, reggae-type punk that is PERFECT for summer! emoticon

Lots, Yeah, CO/CA were opening at my first concert. I went to AFI in february of 2004 and they were opening (along w/ a ststic lullaby). I was stoked! Hardly anyone had heard of them then. I burned some CDs for a local skate shop owner and he loved them so much he put it on a DVD he put out of the local skaters. Hooray!

i'm into melodic/symphonic/power/gothic metal and related stuff.... some of my "classic" favorite bands are kamelot, nightwish, sonata arctica, mercenary, ayreon, epica, some dream theater.

current favorite albums to which you should definitely give a listen:
Firewind - Burning Earth
Battlelore - Third Age of the Sun
Falconer - Falconer

btw, i just started sparkpeople... don't know how it's gonna go since i'm really stressed right now (finals) and then i'm going to italy for three weeks. should get plenty of exercise there (walking), though. but after that i'm pretty much free the whole summer! I don't really want to lose a lot, but i really need to lose a little excess fat in the problem areas and tone up all over.

first post here

what I am listening to now:

The Cure, Muse, Interpol, Joy Division, Radiohead, She Wants Revenge, Placebo, Travis, Manic Street Preachers, Pixies, Korn unplugged cd, Vivaldi, Adiemus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nirvana, Mogwai, Cursive, NIN, Head Automatica, Communique, Rogue Wave, Air...

I am pretty open to various types of music, except contemporary country. The old school country like Hank Williams is pretty cool though. I also love Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, standards and big band stuff.

My guilty pleasures: ABBA, Barry Manilow, Robbie Williams

Other than my initial HI, I haven't posted here so I hope you all don't mind my infiltration of this thread. I'm a music junkie-I couldn't pass it up.

Right now I'm obsessed with Amy Winehouse and Shiny Toy Guns. A bit further down on the obsessive ladder are Necromantix, Rob Zombie, NIN, The Tossers, Dresden Dolls, TV on the Radio, and the longshot of Bobby Bare Jr.

I'm sure there are a bunch more on the list, but that's what's at the top of the playlist right now!

You guys have put some names up I've not heard of, so I'm jazzed to listen to some new and different tunage.

Davey Havok is actually my 11th grade English teacher's cousin once removed. She told me that when he was very young, he used to sing into a wooden spoon at the kitchen table and her father would give him dollar bills for his performance.

AFI is from my husband's home town--it's so weird for a popular band to be from Ukiah, if you're not from the boonies up there you can't even imagine. It's the land of rednecks, budweiser, pick-up trucks, and Wal-Mart. Joe left as soon as he was old enough to take the Greyhound bus to San Francisco! They're all way too young for him to have known them, but I imagine his littlest brother probably we to school wih the band members--of course that brother is so uptight, he's probably completely clueless.

My new "OMG I Love This Song" is "Baby Black & Blue" by The Lizzies. It is so cheezy and so delicious. Check it out on my MySpace page:

http://www.myspace.com/anathema_d

As an old person, I tend towards the classics . . . Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Gun Club, Social Distortion, The Adicts, Dead Boys, Iggy Pop, Bauhaus, Tones on Tail, Love & Rockets, Jesus & Mary Chain, Pixies, New York Dolls, Clash, etc.

Of newer bands, I have to admit I don't listen to as much as I should. I'm really liking Nine Pound Hammer, have a local-boys-make-good soft spot for Green Day (do they still count as new?), like what I've heard of the Weakerthans, do actually enjoy Tool despite it all. And dear little Mr. Manson. Such a nice boy.

And because I am a child of the 80s, I have a secret love of hair metal. A freind of mine does a hair metal night at our local goth club every so often, and the crowd is pretty evenly divided between scenesters who are horrified, and those of us who are totally thrilled to get out there on the floor to Guns'n'Roses, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Ozzy, AC/DC, Scorpions, and so forth. We aren't proud of it. But well, it does rock.

The Specials, Television, Velvet Underground, T Rex, Los Crudos, Angelic Upstarts, the Jam, Anti-Nowhere League, Bad Brains, The Business, The Buzzcocks, The Clash, Cock Sparrer, Cockney Rejects, Depeche Mode, The Fall, Fear, Hüsker Dü, Minor Threat, The Raincoats, Bratmobile, Roxy Music, Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Try doing this in a public place during times of unrest.

I spent 40 minutes last night doing laps around my couch to the new Fratellis CD. :-) I guess it's my new favorite.

I have too many faves to list, but lean towards college radio from the 80's-90's, punk from 70's-80's, some new wave.

One of my friends just got me hooked on a band called Dragonforce, who are AMAZING. If you like metal.

They're so good.

My other current favorites are the Dresden Dolls and Dream Theater. And I totally just noticed that everything I mentioned here starts with "Dr" and that's kinda bizarre.

I have waited a while to post my favs as there are always many swimming in my head. Most of the previous ones I have heard of and thoroughly enjoy, but you guys have opened my eyes to some new tunes, which is great! Here is a list of some of my favs that have stayed same over the years...
#1= Queensryche (you can't beat Jeff Tate's vocals)
then (and not necessarily in this order)...
Bowling for soup
Rufio
Boxcar racer
Bif Naked
Billy Talent
oddly enough...Journey
...N'sync...Ha ha, can you imagine...Damn that Nellie Furtato song is stuck in my head, she irritates me!

yeah where my home is in philly none of my friends are into country at all they're into mostly underground music. however, where i go to school in scranton pa, a handful of my friends have been desperately trying to get me to get into it. the only thing i have learned from them stuffing it into my brain is to block it out.

Hi COUNTTO111!!! I loveeee the sounds! One of their songs, painted by numbers, used to be on my myspace page, lol. Good taste you have, lol. But yea I get into pretty much all kinds of music except for country too. I live in Texas now(originally from Florida) and so I tried to get into it to fit in a little more. Thought I'd give it a try, I might like it. But nope, still don't like it, lol.

Hey everyone
Had an interesting time reading up on everyone's interests in music. Everyone seems like we're into a lot of different stuff, which is awesome. I surround myself with a crazy variety of people so I can't help but be open minded about music.

Some of my personal favorites are: Bouncing Souls, the Loved Ones, Atom and His Package, Madcap, the Explosion, Rancid, Op Ivy, Flogging Molly, you get the picture. Damn the list goes on far too long to continue cause I also get into pretty much any type of music possible (except most country, just can't do it)
Past couple days I haven't been able to stop listening to the Sounds.

Christmas songs have been saving my sanity. Or maybe it's proof that I'm actually insane...Hah! My family will start raggin' on me about something, and I just turn on the classic Christmas channel, and Dean Martin starts singing about Rudy the Red-Beaked Reindeer, and I start grinning from ear to ear, tuning out the negativity coming from the other room. (My hubby can be really negative sometimes...I love him, but SHuT UP! LOL)

It seems the cheesier the Christmas song, the better I like it. It's one of my guilty pleasures.

Hey Brandi!! I live in the Dallas area so I can totally relate. I'm from Florida and moved here a little over a year ago so I'm used to the holidays always being warm but here the weather is so weird. It was like freezing and snowing 2 weeks ago and now it's going to be 80 degrees today. What's up with that?? lol

Yay another 30 seconds from mars fan!! lol.

Congrats on doing something good for new year's. I am from Florida and when I was living there we'd have big parties but last year I moved to Texas and on new year's eve I went out with a friend to a club. Sounds fun but it really wasn't. I can even say it sucked, lol. But this year we're going to a place called the velvet hookah. My favorite place in the whole entire world, lol, so it should be a blast!!

i like 30 seconds from mars too, think they are great. my fave band is playin a concert on new years eve! and i'm going! so excited. they are local australian band, silverchair, they are my oldest favourite band. i've been to another one of their concerts and it was fantastic. i'm so psyched it should just be a great night overall, i've never really done anything great for new years. last year i had a new baby, the year before that i worked and the year before that i was only 17 so there were no drinkies for me then, i think i worked that one as well.

Did you know that in Australia the Raconteurs are called The Saboteurs - weird huh! I bought their CD a little while back and I told one of my friends in Scotland and he said "you mean the Raconteurs" and I said "no, the Saboteurs" (you can see how this discussion went!) and I had to actually take a photo of the CD cover and email it to him before he would believe me!

That reminds me that one of my favourite films "Leon" was called "The Professional" in Australia - I wonder why they do that?

Hey I love the Donnas too but haven't heard any recent stuff - I will check it out now!

My favourite song today is Terror by My Ruin - an oldie but a goodie! Especially when you need a bit of feminine-power...

I like Wolfmother and The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, and of course, the old standby's like Rancid, some Montreal scene stuff, and all that. I'm on a girl punk kick though and I'm diggin' The Donna's, Be Your Own Pet, The A-Lines... but Be Your Own Pet (you can hear samples on myspace or on yahoo launch) is probably making my feet hop more often than anything else.

right now i'm into wolfmother's "woman". all weekend i've been playing guitar hero 2 and that song is so fun.

i super love the "knights of cydonia" song by muse. it has my weight loss motto, "no one's going to take me alive, the time has come to make things right. you and i must fight for right, you and i must fight to survive". haha

do you think dance dance revolution could be used as a weight loss tool? hahaha

This is a great idea for a topic!!

My fave artist right now is David Eugene Edwards, formerly of 16 Horsepower, now putting out solo albums as "Woven Hand". He freaks me out, and I think I'll be listening to the third and latest album, "Mosaic", all day today.

Firstly, Michelleshocked, I really hope it's OK that I've started a new topic... I'm just so stoked that there is a Team like this (having always been 'the freak' at previous diets like Weight Watchers) and I want to get to know everyone.

So, I thought I would start this topic because I don't know about you guys but when I am on a diet my mind can not get out of the food-clouds so I am trying to distract myself with my next favourite subject. I thought if I could get a load of punkers/rockers etc to talk about their favourite songs and bands I could spend some time listening to and finding out about new music and get said mind out of said food-clouds...

Sorry - I know it's not a very original subject but one that I hope will get a lot of responses anyway!

So, my favourite song (for TODAY) is Starlight by Muse. Tomorrow it'll be something else I'm sure and yesterday it was Irreplaceable by Beyonce (OMG I'm so sorry but that sucker stuck to me all day! See how honest I'm being!).

So - how about you???
