although I appreciate their acceptance and admiration at any weight, guys are total pains in the ass about not helping.

Girls get weird though. Jealousy and resentment can come up in strange ways. Guys don't do that ever with the exception of boyfriends who are world class saboteurs!!!

The guys are the worst! At least chicks have a bit of understanding. My buddy was over last week for a hockey game and couldn't understand why I didn't want to eat pizza and drink beer. Same guy who wants to feed me whiskey every friday night! He says you look fine don't worry about it, tell that to my spare tire there buddy!!!

I have to agree. All my friends are supportive in what I am doing and tell me how good I look however, no one is jumping on the bandwagon. lol
There are very few people I can discuss what I am doing with because I know most people don't care to hear it. I still go out and party on the weekends but definitely not as hard as I used to. Id like to be able to get out of bed the next day!
Lets just start our own punk rock fitness culture, F*CK FAT!

I totally agree. Unfortunately, I've found that most of my friends that are into a subculture, tattooed, etc. are not into exercise. It does seem to be a stigma because I think a lot of people feel that because they enjoy music made by artists who booze, use and abuse, that they need to do so as well. Taking care of oneself isn't really considered "punk rock". It is a bummer.
But I think that makes us all the smarter because we realize that our culture interests as a whole don't have to necessarily dictate the way we live our lives in a negative manner.

Is it?

Sometime it seems like folks I know are clinging to the idea that drug use, boozing it, and not taking care of ones self is somehow revolutionary and that being health conscious and working on fitness goals is selling out/buying into the status quo/etc.

I sometimes get so frustrated that I don't really have any irl friends that have the same personal (health/fitness) goals. Can any of you relate?
