i would love to check this out, it sounds like fun.....i am gonna see if i can find anyone around here that does this and if not then i may try to get a group together to do it my house....we will see....

My old room mate found the book at a joke store in chicago that was going out of business. He bought it for a dollar and I found next to the toilet shortly after... I fell in love!!!! But alas he moved out and we went our seperate ways (the book and I) That is, until I was looking for x-mas gifts on amazon and it popped up... I bought it and I love it, but I can never memorize the moves... I would prefer to work out with friends, but with contradicting schedules it has yet to occur... I wish they had videos because I'm unable to go to a session and I can seem to find anything like it around here... I tried the YMCA classes and it just frustrated the hell outta me... I need the adrenaline of punk and indie rock to keep me going!!!!!!!!!!
I have heard about this! I was dying to try it but I'm all the way in freakin NJ. I had no clue there was a book! That rocks so hard! The second my paycheck hits my account this week, I am logging on and ordering me a copy. Thank you so much for this info!!!
I looked at the web site a couple of days ago and saw they are no longer doing it. They did some classes during the summer (not in MA though). I just sent an email to Hilken (address is on the web site) to ask if it will start back up. I'll post the answer here if she responds.
I happen to live in that "queer little state" (MA). I've been wanting to go to the Punk Rock Aerobics class. They host it in Cambridge every Saturday morning. However, that is about an hour drive for me and I am not a morning person! I keep hoping they'll host it closer to me sometime. I learned about it a couple of years ago.
There's also Go-Go-Robics with the Pontani Sisters. I bought it and I've enjoyed that one a lot. It's one of their burlesque routines, broken-down and instructed slowly enough for you to catch on, but quickly enough to provide a thorough workout.

Begun by two veteran punks, Maura Jasper and Hilken Mancini, PRA is an aerobics workout inspired by 'classic punk moves', whether by the fans or the rockers. They have a book out (They may have more, I haven't done -that- much research.) which I found not too long ago at my bookshop, and I picked it up and fell instantly in love with it. Amoung the names of their unique exercises are: "Teenage Skank", "Transiet Squatter", "Slut Butt", "Bacne", and the most used in the program, the ever-essential "Pogo". Now that I'm done sounding like a back-cover advertisement, I'll say outright: this is the -funniest-, most non-bullsh** aerobics book you'll ever find, and very sympathetic to the feeling we can get as punks/rockers who want to be fit without feeling an uneasiness about it. It also works. Hard. I probably sweated more than I ever had before in my -life- after the first workout. It includes stretches, full routines, killer pictures, and "25 reasons to GET OFF YOUR ASS and EXERCISE", which go on for a good few pages.
They have classes in Massachusettes, in whichever location'll host them for the night, but if you don't live in that queer little state, I suggest you find this book and get it get it get it now.

Every little ache and pain I suffer used to be cause for a panic attack, a trip to the doctor's, and three or so months of living like a recluse.
