Didn't make the goal that I had listed for June but I found that throughout the month I did come up with a new goal of starting to workout in the morning (5am!) and its turning out to be key to my success. I did not lose 10, but I was close at 7. Today I am going to think about my July goals and report back to the team this evening. Enjoy your first day of July!

Eskemo - I've been pretty good about not eating right before bedtime. I try not to eat after 9 p.m. in general.

I've been a eating poorly all weekend, though...I think due to frustration of working hard all month (for months, now) and no losses. I am going to have to just bite the bullet and get strict, I guess. I was hoping not to, but don't see any other way.

Oops, I meant to answer Babypop as well. Baby, do you eat right before you sleep? Or have large meals? Eating right before you sleep is bad, regardless of what you're eating...your metabolism slows during sleep and the food doesn't tend to process as much.

A little late, so I'll do a 1-week June goal.

[] Keep a 1-week streak of 8 cups of water per day.

I plan to have 1 liter after my daily walk and 1 liter throughout the rest of the day.

Well, weigh-in yesterday, and GAINED .5 lbs. Other than the weekend, I've been really good about eating and getting fruits/veggies. SO FRUSTRATING. I am .2 lbs. shy of 190, which means that overall this year, I've lost a grand total of 4 whopping lbs. Since my this-time-last-year low of 178, I've GAINED 12 lbs. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can understand if I wasn't actually *losing* weight, but I just don't see how I'm gaining. Time to check out some other boards and maybe hit up a Sparkpeople Trainer.

You'll get used to it. I've gotten to where I drink about 10 glasses/day.

I had a lousy weekend. Lost my 2nd job, which I was using to amass a large savings. I'd just finished funding an emergency fund and was gearing up to start saving for a house down payment as well as paying double on my car loan and student loans. Grr.

As far as eating - lousy. Also didn't make it to the gym Sunday and can't go to yoga tonight b/c of a work function with my boyfriend. Will make up for that on Tues-Thurs and hope to do better. I guess I have more of an incentive to bike/ride the bus now, at any rate.

Haha yeah getting all that water in isn't easy. I'm hearing that you dont literally need 8 cups of water a day, especially if you eat a lot of fruits and veggies because its in those. But I aim for it anyway because I actually like water. It will get easier to drink it all though :)

I just realized how hard it is to drink 8 glasses of water per day. I have a container and it holds all 8 glasses...i was chuggin' it by the end of the day to get it all it.

I do feel better tho :)

Well, on the plus side, I made roasted tilapia with rice and veggies for dinner, with two servings left over for lunch tomorrow on Friday.

Downside, I accidentally ate some watermelon after 10 pm, and am up 1.4 lbs. to 189.4. GRRRRRR.....I am getting SO DISCOURAGED.

Oh, how I wish I could give up caffeine. I drink like 2 cups of coffee/day and 2 diet sodas/day. I need to quit b/c I can tell it makes my heart race and I'm treading a little too close to having more anxiety attacks.

Hey everyone,

I haven't been too active with this community in a while. After a few weeks of trying to get myself back into a healthy lifestyle I am now ready to start making monthly goals again.

For June, my goal is to lose 10 pounds through various cardio activities, yoga, strength training, lots of water, eating lots of fruits & veggies, good sleep, and much less alcohol. These have been my typical weight loss tools so all I really have to do is keep consistent with them. Yup, 10 pounds for this month. So, hopefully by July 1st I'll be in the low end of the 210's. emoticon

~Lose at least 5lbs

~No more sugary soda (limit 1 diet soda a day)

~Drink more water

~Get my 30 minutes of cardio per day

~When I feel like I want to eat just to eat, I will bust out a glass of water, and when I want a sugary fix, I'll have a diet soda, or one of those sugar free packet thingies in my water.

~ If at the end of the month I have completed my goals, I get to buy a new pair of shorts, cause I'll need them!

I'd like to lose 10 lbs for the month of June.

Don't snack after 8:00pm.

Keep going strong with the exercising and diet.

May didn't go as well as I'd hoped, so for July I want to really push it into high gear to be below 175 (at least!) before my 30th b-day in September. I'd originally hoped to be 125 lbs. by September, but I guess that was just too ambitious. Oh well!

So here are my goals:

Cook one meal a week. A real meal. Enough to take leftovers to work. Not microwavable meal. A real meal!

No munching after 10:00 PM.

Cardio 2x/week @ 35 minutes. Cardio 1x/week @45 minutes. Weights 1x/week. Yoga 1x/week. Walk or bike outdoors 1x/week, even if it's short.

I am currently at 188 lbs. I will weigh-in on Tuesdays at the gym using the digital scale. I would like to be 182 lbs. at most by the end of June.

My reward: Not sure yet. I'd like a haircut, waxing, bicycle, and bento, but I may break down and get the hair cut before the end of the month, so probably will reward myself with a Mr. Bento or money towards a new bike.

Maybe you started 2008 with a fresh outlook for your health and fitness. Use this thread to help you either continue momentum you've built, or to brush yourself off and push forward if you found yourself reverting to old bad habits. Use this month to build on your strengths and to challenge yourself on your weaknesses as we reach 2008's halfway mark together!

Established Punk Rock slash and burners should know the drill. For the unacquainted and newbies, I'll fill you in on the short version of this thread.

*Pick a few goals for the month (or even just one day or week at a time)
*Try to have at least one goal that isn't just the broad, "I want to lose x lbs this month." (e.g. getting enough water, stretching, doing x minutes of cardio activity x days per week, handling stress better etc.)
*Here's the tricky part: also try to include a detailed plan of how you will attain your goals. (e.g., if your goal is, "I want to refrain from emotional eating this month," then your specific plan could be, "Instead of eating through my emotions, I'll drink a tall glass of water, and work on a craft project or some other creative endeavor, and post on the SP message board for support.)
*Finally, think of a little reward you'd like to treat yourself to at the end of the month for reaching your goal.

Also, check previous "Mini-Goals" threads to see kind of how they work - it's very informal, and please check up on each other at least once a week! It's how we keep one another motivated.

Finally, here is a corny thing I posted in another thread and have posted in my bedroom and on my desk at work. Please copy it, save it on your desktop, print it put, and put it wherever you can see it if you think it will motivate you!

JUST FOR TODAY: I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once.

I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things I can correct, and accept those I cannot.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable. I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I'll not speak ill of others. I will improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking.

Just for today, I will refrain from improving anybody but myself.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will do something positive to improve my health. If I'm a smoker, I'll quit. If I am overweight, I will eat healthfully -- if only just for today. And not only that, I will get off the couch and take a brisk walk, even if it's only around the block.
