I am doing much better w/ the B/P. I am doing okay with the 'boyfriend' though it is awkward, being bi. I feel like I am not attracted to him as much as I ought to be. Or maybe I like him better as a friend? He is so into me and I would hate to just crush him like that.
As far as exercise goes, i have more spare time with just one job, so i walk about twice per week. i also increased the calories a bit b/c i was restricting. I have no scale so i don't know what weight I am at.

Well, sorry to hear you'll be taking a hiatus from SP but you do what you need to do.

Congratulations on the place, and hopefully once you get settled the B&P will subside to an extent.

Good luck w/ the boy. Is it cool that he used to date your sister, though? I eat sushi about once every 2 years or so and I'm due for it again. It's a good summer food!

I was driving back from church/the gym today and stopped where this guy was selling produce on the side of the road. Big watermelon, a basket of squash, and a bunch of asparagus. Yum!

Wow. So, I moved into my own apartment and that equals bulimic's paradise. I binged/purged nearly every day for 1 1/2 weeks. I think it was a freedom sort of thing--no dad--and a lashing out--at dad for being less than kind to me of late--and just boredome---no tv, net, sound, etc. A mutual friend of ours/ex of my sister seems to be interested in me. I feel happier hanging out w/ him. Also, strangely enough, I got over my fear of dining out--in a major way--I ate sushi! It was just as good as I had imagined. I don't know how things will go, but it is a good feeling, now at least, to hang out w/ him. I may not be on much, if at all for a while. I have no 'net, so I try to get in on the library computers. I am also considering a break from spark to see how I do...

Just checking in. My aunt passed away a week ago and my brother graduated, so I've been eating terribly and not working out. Went to the gym for the first time in a week today and happy to report that the number stayed the same on the scale. Better than going up! Not meeting my goal for the month of May, though. :(

wow, I usually only have the 25$ that keeps my account open. No emergency funds at all. Now, I guess tips do it for me. I make instant money (albeit, pocket change) 4 of 7 nights per week. my medical bills each month are alsways too high for me to leave anything to save.

Thank you!

Also - I use Wesabe to track my finances, and I know there are things from Geezeo, Mint, etc., to do the same. Wesabe is easy - sort of like Sparkpeople or Flickr for finances. I also read Get Rich Slowly blog and also a new one I found called Feminist Finance.

I've almost got a pretty substantial emergency fund of $6,000 and after that, I will start paying extra on my student loans and car loan as well as tucking as much as possible back into another savings for buying a home and adopting a kid one day. It's a good feeling to make that kind of financial progress and kind of like with health/fitness, one day at a time, and expect to have setbacks some time.

Keep up the good work!

My weight is fairly stable which is great. I went up a tiny bit, but i am 90% sure it is muscle from all the heavy lifting I am doing. Oh, I also finally got my finances under control, again, about 90%. Wanting a new home certainly helped. I still have a maxed out ($300) mervyns card and have my $600 Old Navy card down to $120. That has been a goal of mine for a long time (4 years?), that is, get my money habits back to the way they used to be.
I certainly know how computer/desk jobs can be. I had a (very) part time one and it was SOOOO boring and frustrating. I have to do physical work or I go nuts. For a while, mervyns had me behind a desk and not on the sales floor. I developed what I called "chair butt"--less muscle, more fat and cellulite. Very depressing. Keep up the exercise though. Every bit helps. emoticon

Good to hear form you, Vegpunk! And congratulations on the new place! Whee! I'm working about 10-12 hours/day between two jobs. Granted, both are in front of the computer, but it turns my brain to mush and makes me hate myself. I am getting my workouts in, which is good, and eating a little better, but my weight is still inching higher and higher. Grr.

Well, I have already accomplised major goals: I got my own place! Well, mostly. I have to save up another $700 for down payment then it is mine. Other than that, my goals are to not poop out on the two-job-18-hours-on-my-feet thing for a while longer so I can get moved in and set for a while. Also, rest more. Exercise is not an option w/ work. Plus the restaurant business provides both cardio and strength exercise--I am so sore and beat by day's end. I am also trying to eat more sensibly.

Well, I stayed in my calories yesterday and resisted the urge to snack while up late working. I'll take any small victory I can get. I packed a lunch today that included v8, carrots, an apple, and a yam. I also threw away a bag of rotted squash that I forgot I'd bought, which sucks b/c that would've been awesome to eat tonight.

I just realized, I'm going to have to change my signature. It's dispiriting to see that I wanted to/could've been 170 lbs. at the end of last month, and a month later than that, was still 16 lbs. over my goal.

I will strive to stop being a worry wart about EVERYTHING and trust that things will work out however they are supposed to. I will strive to get more activity in every day. I will not totally lose my willpower on the weekends (anyone else deal w/ this too?) emoticon

Alright, I'm gonna throw some stuff out here - Mini-Goals for May:

1) I've been on the program since 4/7/08 and I've yet to drink 8 glasses of water in a single day. That's just freaking lazy, so I'm going to aim for hitting the mark every day for the rest of this month.

2) No snacking before dinner. Not even healthy stuff.

3) I vow to spend 30 minutes a day cleaning up my house throughout the week instead of losing a whole weekend day to cleaning. This is the toughest goal yet.

Yikes. Writing it down makes it seem more real. I hope I can do it!

My minigoal for this month is to stop weighing myself. I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but the weight isn't coming off. So I see the same weight day after day, week after week, and I feel like crap. Then I just give up and eat like a piggy. So for this month, I will not weigh myself. I weighed today, and I will weigh again in June. I will continue to exercise at least 5 days per week and work toward a fabulous and fit, thick and curvy body. I will be one of those people who is in good shape and healthy with a few more curves than the skinny minnies. Then, maybe, I can work on the skinny.

The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.

Sorry for the belated thread, everyone!

I did lousy in April, so for May (at least from here on out) I want to continue progress with working out and GET BACK ON TRACK with eating right. I have been so darned busy, not eating well at all. I would like to be 180 lbs. or lower by the end of the month. Fingers crossed!

Maybe you started 2008 with a fresh outlook for your health and fitness. Use this thread to help you either continue momentum you've built in January, February, March, and April, or to brush yourself off and push forward if you found yourself reverting to old bad habits. Use this month to build on your strengths and to challenge yourself on your weaknesses!

Established Punk Rock slash and burners should know the drill. For the unacquainted and newbies, I'll fill you in on the short version of this thread.

*Pick a few goals for the month (or even just one day or week at a time)
*Try to have at least one goal that isn't just the broad, "I want to lose x lbs this month." (e.g. getting enough water, stretching, doing x minutes of cardio activity x days per week, handling stress better etc.)
*Here's the tricky part: also try to include a detailed plan of how you will attain your goals. (e.g., if your goal is, "I want to refrain from emotional eating this month," then your specific plan could be, "Instead of eating through my emotions, I'll drink a tall glass of water, and work on a craft project or some other creative endeavor, and post on the SP message board for support.)
*Finally, think of a little reward you'd like to treat yourself to at the end of the month for reaching your goal.

Also, check previous "Mini-Goals" threads to see kind of how they work - it's very informal, and please check up on each other at least once a week! It's how we keep one another motivated.

Finally, here is a corny thing I posted in another thread and have posted in my bedroom and on my desk at work. Please copy it, save it on your desktop, print it put, and put it wherever you can see it if you think it will motivate you!

JUST FOR TODAY: I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once.

I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things I can correct, and accept those I cannot.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable. I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I'll not speak ill of others. I will improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking.

Just for today, I will refrain from improving anybody but myself.

JUST FOR TODAY: I will do something positive to improve my health. If I'm a smoker, I'll quit. If I am overweight, I will eat healthfully -- if only just for today. And not only that, I will get off the couch and take a brisk walk, even if it's only around the block.
