Well, I gave myself a BYE day on St Pat's because it's my tradition to invite everyone over for corned beef, cabbage and guinness that day. We were down a car all week, so I couldn't get to the gym :(
BUT, I've managed to lose enough to FINALLY get back into the 150's so I am super stoked about that!
How's everyone's challenge going? You're almost done!

I am so mad, I know tomorrow at my weigh-in I'll have GAINED WEIGHT. If by chance I have stayed the same I'll feel better but I bet anything I've GAINED. Why am I such a dumb butt?!?!

HANG IN THERE BABYPOP!!
I've been doing well with my challenge, but it's been a few weeks since I've lost a pound! I'm starting to get frustrated by that.

I've skipped a couple gym days too, but I think the rest does more good than bad. I'm doing pretty well choosing more vegan food & avoiding crappy food, and still losing pounds, so I'm just gonna try to keep it up!

Oh man, I remember getting rollerblades when I was in middle school. Ha!

Well for the end of Feb. I lost 6 lbs. A little less than the 8 I was hoping for, but still in the range where I can reward myself. I'm really proud of myself for not eating past 10. Working late, going to the gym, and getting home late to only work some more make it hard to remember to eat sometimes!

I haven't had a chance to get to the gym the last couple of days. Well I did have a chance on Wednesday but I REALLY needed a drink so I opted for mental health! This weekend it is supposed to be 60 degrees in my city so I'm looking forward to trying out the rollerblades I found at Goodwill for $6! Hopefully I don't break an arm!

I have been doing really well - I've had to fight a bit of hunger/desire to emotional eat the last few nights b/c I'm drowning in work, exhaustion, etc, but am proud of myself when I don't give in to old bad habits.

STILL not losing weight, though and it's irritating me.

Plus...I have a RANK fungal infection due to, I think, using the community yoga mats...ick.

sounds like overall everyone's doing pretty dang good! i've done fine with what i gave up, but the adding stuff (calorie range, exercise for rollerderby) is only about half on, half off :/ so i need to really make the last half of lent count!!

Way to go! So far I'm staying on track...drank a bit to much the other night and ate past midnight. Whoops! It was a Sunday, so I think that doesn't technically count but still, I'll tack it to the end of Lent and make up for it!

I have a dry-erase board calendar at home that I have been filling with red hearts for every time I exercise for 30 minutes. It's fun to watch the board fill up with color.

Didn't lose any weight this week but am pretty proud of the fact that I've only (inadvertenly) screwed up one day - I started before Lent officially started, so 2 weeks, one screw-up, not too bad. Still, frustrated that I haven't lost any weight.

So far so good, I went to dinner with some friends Friday night. I had a salad, and a virgin foo foo drink but no hard liquor. Everyone else had the leaded drinks, but I chose to go unleaded. good stuff!!!!!

I did pretty good all weekend. I did miss the gym again Friday, this time my car needed "rest" (in the form of a $300 coolant sensor, grr.) but I belly danced for 6 hrs Saturday, did the gym this morning...all of my food has been clean. I lost about a pound and a half last week too, so I'm just gonna try to keep plodding!

Well I did okay this weekend. I accidentally ate past o'clock on Friday night and went over my calories. It was close to midnight so I put them on the next day's. Plus I was in the Central time zone so I know it was definitely after midnight where I'm from.

Yesterday I had a wedding shower to go to and I *know* I must've gone over but it was all finger foods and nearly impossible to keep track. Did get to the gym Saturday since I knew I couldn't go yesterday. Hopefully I'll have at least maintained my weight and not put any back on!

Usually when I screw up during Lent, I just tack some days on after Easter and continue until I've "atoned" for mys screw-ups!

I have NOT been able to stay focused!! I needed a new challenge, badly, so thanks for this.

This year I'm giving up chocolate, it's one of my "trigger" foods that makes me forget about calorie counting! And taco bell because it's my fav fast food (I know, I know, gross!). So my "add something" part will be staying within my cal. range and doing *something* everyday that helps me stay focused for roller derby~ I am getting in that bout lineup, dammit!

Good luck everyone! Can we post back here about how we're doing?

I just decided to get back onto SP today, so it's perfect timing! I had gotten to my goal weight a few months ago, but have gained it all back since moving to the Netherlands for a semester abroad -- damn those foreign pastries!

Anyway, these are my goals:

- Learn to ride a bike and bike into town on my non-busy days (at least 3 times a week).
- Snack on fruit instead of sweets
- Indulge in only one sweet a day
- Keep the drinking to a minimum!!

Wish me luck!

Well you can talk about me, say that I'm mean, I'll blow your head off baby, with nitroglycerine!

chiming in last minute! I'm going to keep going to the gym 6 mornings a week (5:45 bodypump, smaaaaash!)

giving up anything that contains:
chemical additives, sweeteners
hydrogenated oils
refined sugar & processed flour

staying away from dairy, meat, fish, wheat, & caffeine.

I'm trying to go vegan this year, but it's a big jump from protein fiend to vegan!

Hey Guys,
I don't usually give up anything for lent, but I might as well. I think I'll give up alcohol. Can't hurt right? I do not drink alot anyway, but it'll give me a reason to hold off.

Okay, I've decided what I'm going to give up, now!

Since I don't drink too much and don't eat a whole lot of sweets, I've decided to give up one area where I am weak: night time pigging out!

So for Lent 2008, I WILL stay within my calorie range, and I WILL NOT eat in my bed or after 10:00 PM! I mean it!!!

I'm in!

I'm going to give up wine for the challenge. Someday I plan to have a chocolate and wine bar(I make traditional french chocolates). This will be a challenge but a good one. I have excellent control over my chocolate consumption but wine also is one of my diet monsters and needs to become a special treat, not a daily indulgence.

During Lenten I will journal daily and exercise for at least 15 minutes every day in addition to my walking commute (2 miles).

Liza - Love your name! My daughter's name is Eliza which tends to get shortened to Liza.

I forgot about the giving something up part of Lent. I can hear my mother now - "I raised you to be a good Catholic and you don't remember Lenten traditions!" I think I'll give up ice cream for lent. It tends to be my weakness when it comes to snacks.

I'm going to have to think about this one....But I'm definitely in! Last year for Lent I gave up soda - which was hard because I'm pretty sure I have Diet Mountain Dew coursing through my veins...but I did it!

If you can't be a good example, you'll just need to be a horrible warning.

Excellent!

Mom always made us "do something" in addition to "giving up" something, so my "do something" will be to stay in my calorie range every single day of Lent. I only went over 3 times in January. Last year's Lenten challenge I really did stay in my range so hopefully this will put me and keep me on track.

Haven't decided what to "give up" yet. Will figure something out by Ash Wednesday. I gave up booze last year but I rarely drink any more so it kind of seems like that might be too easy. Diet sodas or coffee would be harder, but I just don't know if I want to commit to that!

I'm in for the lenten challenge! My focus is on:

1. taking vitamins daily
2. drinking 8 glasses of water daily
3. eating at least 15 grams of fiber daily
4. eating breakfast daily
5. 90 minutes of cardio per week
6. staying within my spark calorie range

We have done Lenten and Advent challenges on here in the past and so taking a cue from that, I'm encouraging everyone to hop aboard for the 2008 Lenten Challenge.

Lent technically starts on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, but we can consider it early for our purposes, beginning February 1, 2008 and lasting through the Easter Sunday, Mar. 23, 2008. I think I am going to go on and just consider all of February and March part of this challenge. That should hopefully get us well on our way to our overall 2008 goals.

Instead, try to come up with a few dedicated goals for yourself, determine the frequency (if cooking, working out, etc) and post them, then follow through by checking in.

Though this is a challenge associated with a Christian holiday, rest-assured that it is non-religious in nature and is open to everyone, Christian, atheist, and otherwise! (Besides, isn't Easter really a Pagan holiday?!?!) I want this to be all-inclusive!
