I have the same problem as well and I have not had success with anything. I am glad you posted this topic. There are several suggestions here I am going to try.

Another suggestion that I forgot to post: if you can't afford a humidifier or can't find one that works, (mine just broke and I have this problem) use a cloth face mask, or wrap something loosely around your face while you sleep. It keeps the moisture in, and will keep some allergens out, especially if you find one of the germ resistant face masks covered in cloth like the one I have. It works wonders because it keeps the moisture in your mouth from escaping, so no humidifier necessary.

Vicky, I have the same problem. I have a cat and cat allergies, recently worsened. I used to be able to deal with it with a simple antihistamine and a nasal decongestant, but they don't work anymore. I don't know about you, but my biggest problem is that I get strep throat from all the gunk running down the back of my throat. I've found that with a humidifier, though, I can keep my throat more moist and nothing sticks. This helps with the coughing, although it doesn't solve it completely. The only decongestants that work anymore for me are mucinex, and best of all, ginger drinks. We have asian stores here that carry this ginger drink, not tea, that is spicy and clears me right out, both nasal and chest congestion. Also, allergy pills need to build up in your system to work, so I hope you tried each pill faithfully for a week before giving up on it. BIOAllers worked great for me for a while. It's an herbal approach. The most important thing you can do is drink tons of water though. The more the better. I find hot water helps me a lot. Unfortunately, these are only helpers. I haven't found much to solve the problem either. It matters if it's indoor or outdoor allergies too. If it's outdoors, buy an air purifier with a filter, not an ion one. clean a lot. Getting dust mite proof bed sheets might help because those little buggers tend to worsen other allergies as well as being an allergen themselves. I hope some of this helps. Let me know if you find anything that I haven't mentioned here.

Hi Vicky I also suffer from the same symptoms. At one point my ears were plugged for weeks. It felt like I was under water. I was told to buy a nose spray decongestant. I was surprised but it did work. Just enough gets into to the ear canal and in a few days I could hear again.

As we are in a thaw, the dripping to my throat as well as just dripping drive me crazy. Right now I can feel it is going to run on my lip. Both drive me nuts. I will go back to Allegra. My granddaughter has the ear problem also and is on Allegra and is on a prescrip. nasal spray. she had the predisone too and was better but it always seems to come back but not as bad. Maybe you could try Allegra if you haven't. I feel for you because none of this is any fun and I get the eczema as well.good luck, Georgine

Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone has the same problem and if anything works for them. I have chronic draining down behind my nose and throat with my ears feeling blocked and not being able to pop like usual. This has been going on for probably 2 months. I always get the draining down behind instead of the stuffiness and itching eyes everyone else gets. I do have the itching on the roof of my mouth occasionally, my Doctor tells me that is another allergy sign. I used to have asthma as a child but no more, I am 57 now. Usually it clears up with medication, or steroids if stubborn but nothing is helping this time. I have tried all of the regular otc from musinex ( all types) to zyrtex, allerest, benedryl, etc. I also use the nasal spray at times and have also tried a doctor prescribed spray. My nose and chest feel clear but this draining is making me miserable and stomach feel sick. Like I said, the prednisone didn't work either this time, nor netti pot. Does anyone else have these odd symptoms out there and if so, have you found anything to help? Even the Pharmacist couldn't suggest anything. Thanks so much!
