Spicy tea, or green tea if my stomach is upset, are my go-to drinks when I'm struggling (as I am currently, with a virus). I don't find myself eating over my calorie goals so much as wanting the bad foods when I am hungry, and not exercising because I am too sick. Liquids are partially satisfying.
I have similar issues. I find that spicy teas, cinnamon hard candies, etc. help keep my from consuming potato chips or other salty items I crave when sinus or respiratory illness strikes. It doesn't always work but I find that the stronger flavors and extra liquid from the tea is good and it is something I can do at home or the office.

I wish someone would tell me the same thing. My issue is that with my latex allergy I end up in the ER and on steroids. They give me a big IV dose in the ER and then I have to taper down. I try (very hard and usually unsuccessfully) to not go to the ER so I don't have to get on the roids. However, once I am I. AM. HUNGRY. So, how do you deal with this? Not only am I hungry but I'm grumpy lol. Suggestions would be wonderful as when I tell the doctors this they just look at me with sympathy and go, "That sucks".
