In our home, my older two were already out of the house or on their way when my youngest was born. You know how kids are at 17 and 18. So my youngest was pretty much an "only" child. My older two HAD to grow up fast because of our life situation. The youngest has definitely had an easier life, but he is 9 going on 30. =)

How is Monday going for everyone?

They do grow quickly. That is why I want a new crop ;-) The younger ones do grow faster than the older ones. I think the older ones coach them into growing more quickly. Or maybe as parents we realize that they are capable of doing things for themselves at younger ages and aren't as overprotective as subsequent children come along. No matter what the reason, it seems that they just aren't as little as long.

You have four kids at far enough age groups to make life really fun. =)

ZOORHO has it right, they grow fast. I don't remember my older two growing as fast as my youngest though and I had to work with my older two. Is that odd? Completely backwards if you ask me. LOL

My oldest will be 28 this year, (she'll be a mom next month!) My son will be 27 and my youngest will be 10 in April.

My oldest is 14, the second turned 10 last week, my son will be 8 in Feb, and the youngest will be 5 at the end of the month.

This weekend we made some homemade bodywash for my children and hubby's sensitive skin. It is supposed to be better for hubby's eczema. The weather is beautiful here today with 75 degree temps so the kids had tons of fun playing outside.

Mary, How old are they? I remember once I went on vacation without my older two when they were about 3 and 4. They stayed with my mom, but I missed them terribly. So I understand what you mean. But I never had that feeling when they were teens.

I have no doubt my kids will be able to live without me... I doubt my ability to live with out my kids for a prolonged period of time. I was going nuts while they were with my mom.

I have two grown kids; married and one expecting their first child. I knew I did a good job as a mother raising them when they were ready to be independent. I wasn't at all worried they couldn't live on their own. I have one left in the house and I have no idea yet what I'll do when he's out of the house, but I'm looking forward to the adventures.

Last night I met a father at a Boy Scout troop whose son is in college, but he's still helping out in the troop. Something like this may help you with kid withdrawals? LOL

Today I'm preparing for next year's curriculum while getting school done today. Tonight we have Bible study. I think I have some clutter calling my name too. Why does everything get messier in the process of cleaning?

Kids? Grown? I told hubby i never want the kids to be fully grown and if they get close to grown we will have to grab a new crop to harvest *laughs* when he refused I suggested that if we didn't replace the kids I might adopt every stray animal I found he said we might have to look into new kids... i love being around the kids. I think I actually have a fear that I don't have an identity without having the kids with me.

What's everyone up to today? I am waiting for dr offices to call me back.

A couple years back, I realized the kids were almost grown, and I had better be working on some friends for the long haul! Got closer to several friends, but working like crazy this last 6 months has kind of built a wall again. Looking forward to having time for a life again!

Hey Honey-- good to see you! What 'cha been up to?

Thanks Mary.

yes living in VA is a mixed blessing. I do have good hs support. But I could use some more IRL friends. working on that now though.

I just left VA this summer. I hated living there as I am much lower stress than the area I lived in, but we needed to live in that area for hubby's work. Plus it made visiting all my family a horrible drive as they were in FL. I couldn't seem to find the support I needed while I was there, though I did spend 3 of the 4 years I was there looking. The 4th year I just wasn't feeling well enough to fight for the support anymore and it became the line in the sand. So now we live in GA. Travel to my family is just unde half as long as before. I have much more support. The kids have more friends. And I am in the process of looking for medical care on par with what I had up there.... I guess i can't have everything ;-)

I am sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I know it can be hard to lose a parent.

I skipped sending mail to my mom this holiday season and sent her my kids while we were having home repairs done. I think it was more expensive, but I know she lived having time with the kids fir the time she did ;-)

Editing my spelling errors... Leaving the originals up there. I dislike working from my ipad, but my computer, which was bought this summer, does not work very well and we are in constant communication with the location from which we bought it.

Mary, I sent Tina a Christmas card because she had sent me a very thoughtful gift, goodness, I think in 2011?! (where did 2012 go?) And I like to surprise her with notes in the mail. =) I enjoy writing letters the old fashioned way. Do you want a pen pal? emoticon

That is really nice to have a get well party for the person in the car accident. It reminds me of something the Amish do. They have boxes at their local stores with the family name on it and the community buys items and put them in the box. it could be for a family struggling if they lost a crop or illness or for widows.

I'm off to check out the jumpstart challenge. I hope everyone has a restful Sunday

I didn't get Christmas cards... I wasn't here to volunteer to get them ;-)

This week I will be having my children make get well cards. On one of my yahoogroups a family had a member injured in a car accident during the holiday season so they are hosting a raise the injured individual's spirits card party... I guess is the way to phrase it. They had a better phrase in the email.

Good luck on the Jumpstart Challenge!

Oh good. This is my first year doing a picture card and it was a lot of fun. But I was late getting them out due to the flu.

Now I'm hoping for 2013 to create the family card. (I have a new camera) =)

Hi Mary! Yes, definitely here. About to get my normal life (minus all the office hrs!) back. Definitely here.

And Zoorho, I'm going to join that January Challenge to get going, too. What was the link?
