Mine are all grown but they still love getting us all together for Christmas. We've moved from assembling on Christmas morning to Christmas Eve (dh's birthday) so that we can celebrate Pop's birthday and have our "whole-family" Christmas--then they can each have Christmas morning in their own homes with their children. I still make a special dish for Christmas breakfast and some of them will come over for brunch and then hang out with us on Christmas day, while others spend the day with their inlaws or friends.
For maybe 5 years or so, we invited several families over for a cookie decorating party. I'd bake sugar cookies ahead of time, then set out different colored frostings and a variety of sprinkles. It seemed a natural progression from the adult cookie exchanges I'd been having. The kids were actually disappointed when we made it something for all the co-op kids.
