oops! I forgot that there's some milk in there. The recipe calls for cream, but I use whatever I have (usually 2%, or evaporated skim) and there is 2T of melted butter. I suppose you could skip the butter but I never have because it's not that much AND it's Thanksgiving!

There are only a couple in our family that like the candied yams that my MIL used to make, so when I found this recipe and everyone liked it, it replaced the candied yams on our menu. I think it's the texture that they like--it's light and fluffy because of the whipped egg whites.

Yours sounds good, too. I'll get the recipe from my sister for both of us. :)

BTW, you don't add butter and milk to mash them, right?

I make a sweet potato puff with 2 C mashed sweet potato, a little salt, 2 T melted butter, 2 eggs (separated), and a little bit of sweetener (honey or brown sugar). Mix all together (except the egg whites), then whip the egg whites until stiff and then fold in. Bake until brown around the edges and a knife comes out clean.

I'd like to try your sister's recipe, Tina!

My sister made a new sweet potato recipe. She baked sweet potatoes and cut them up in a casserole, then made a cinnamon flavored meringue topping. Not really sweet, so pretty good.

I just found this thread--I love simple recipes like this!

Tina, I use oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, szechuan sauce, etc. all the time! If you like chinese food, you're probably eating on some of your favorite dishes. I stirfry in toasted sesame oil and it gives things a wonderful flavor and aroma!

I've never tried fish or oyster sauce! Do they taste fishy??

You saw my Chinese green bean recipe, right?

Made the chiles rellanos casserole 2 days ago. I loved it, and one ds did too, but dh whined over all the pepper chunks. You would have thought they'd love the fact that I made something with so much meat. lol Oh well. My mom and sister want some of the leftovers. :)

Last night I got my first sweet and sour red cabbage at our favorite restaurant. He makes it for Oktoberfest time. Yum! Have to figure out how to make that or just order the spaetzel and the cabbage. lol

Hi! I wasn't sure where we were supposed to post this... I did try a new recipe last weekend ( didnt get a chance to post... )

The family really enjoyed this...

I took some frozen cauliflower( my second son is on a cauliflower kick) I sauteed it in olive oil and garlic... THEN i sprinkled some Thai fish sauce over( supposed to use Oyster , but this is what i had) It was delicious!!

I am on a Vietnamese food kick right now.... It gave it an oomph....
