That's an amazing idea! I love it! We've never done any of the "Easter Bunny" stuff as we wanted to the focus to be on the resurrection of Christ and all that means to us...but I love your idea of the scavenger hunt via scripture!

We've gotten together with friends and the dads have hidden eggs for the kids to find. I still don't know what we're going to do this year. Maybe I'll do a basket for dd. That would be a nice surprise for her.

We'll cook a ham and scalloped potatoes and invite all the kids and grands. It happens that one of my dgd's birthday is on Easter this year too, so we may be having a birthday party as well~

We do Easter a little different; we do a basket with a little candy a small gift and a color coordinated egg to start a scavenger hunt, inside is the first clue. They have clues to coincide with their age. (4 years = 4 clues) and can only pick up their color so I can use the hiding place for more than one egg just change clues. The 2 older kids can read and look up scripture so their clues are scripture references leading to a place. ie the burning bush could mean the fireplace. stairs to heaven would be stairs. It can take a while to find all the gifts but they all love it and it's the highlight. I even do one for my husband sometimes (just cut the clue numbers down a lot). It doesn't take long to put together (I only do it the night before) and we get ideas from the concordances. We think of the place we want to hide the next egg and then find the scripture. If we want it in the window the reference could be light or even opening.

The prize is some small outside fun. This year it is all sidewalk chalk related.

It is always fun and even the neighbor (grandma like) comes to watch the fun when she's home.

My sister's birthday is on Easter this year so we'll go to my mom's. I offered to host the in-laws but they weren't interested in getting together, so OH DARN!

We celebrate Ostara so it's really just a family thing for us. No particular meaning other than the little guy wants "eeser bun chocly." LOL

Dh's brother and sil have been coming the past few years. She loves to color eggs and buy dd some spring things--like new nail polish. lol

They're headed to a wedding this year tho. I need to talk to dh and see what he wants to do. I am ready for another good ham...

We still do the Easter baskets, and church and the pancake breakfast at church. I keep leaning more towards spring stuff like chalk and kites, etc. than candy. One year the boys got those math wrap-ups in their basket. ;)
