I knit (with a Knifty Knitter) large booties and use those as my gift bags. I have also been making some winter scarves, so I will probably give them out as well.

I made a doll quilt for my youngest. For the older one I'm making a wall hanging quilt with pockets for some of her smaller toys to hide in. I'm also planning on making them a house out of felt - the kind that goes over top a table and they can crawl inside.

For my in-laws I'm thinking of making some pretty reusable totes for shopping. If I have time I'd like to make these for as many people as possible actually. I could even put other gifts inside I think.

I usually make lots of my gifts. This year the only one I have made is for my nephew. I made him a john deere tie blanket. In the past, I have made jewelry, napkin holders, ornaments, and kleenex box covers. I need to make some of those to have on hand. The just in case gifts.

I wish I had great time management skills! My husband would laugh at that. emoticon
I actually love to paint, and spend a couple hours after the kids go to bed... so in those hours, I usually paint or do my housework or plan our school week... I guess the hint is having the kids in bed early. I will put them in bed an hour earier than they are used to, sometimes, if I let them read for an hour... That buys me some time, too.
I also let them paint with me. (We're an artistic group.) If my kids could breathe art, they would.
I also found an artist on eBay that I just love, and she has videos of how she paints... when I saw HOW she did it, I realized I was making it harder than it had to be... I can whip out a painting in about 4 hours, from start to finish... so, if I paint a couple times a week for 2 hours, I can get some stuff done.
Also, letting the kids paint/craft alongside me keeps them from doing the "Mom!" thing... emoticon

Wow Aubrey! I'm in awe! Sounds like you have some superior time management skills! I think that's great that most of your loved ones will get something personal. I love that!

I'm probably going to make some mixes in jars .. cookies, cakes, soups etc to give to my neighbors. My family I'm still unsure of ... I need to sit down and cogitate about it.

I am. :) Here's what I am doing:
Making a gift basket for my parents, grandparents, mother in law & brothers in law, two sisters & their husbands.
In the basket, I am putting canned food that I canned myself: apple pie filling, jelly, jelepeno jelly... anything else I come up with while doing this. I am thinking of canning pumpkins, as I have 4 freezerbags full + 6 more sitting on my counter that I need to do something with... I think my girls are going to make those potholders...
I also used to have a candlemaking business, so I figured I'd toss some leftovers in there... along with something personal for each person/couple.

Mom ~ painting of her kids/grandkids (almost done!)
Dad ~ a sign for the outside of his workshshop & a thermos for keeping soups warm at work.
Grandma ~ has a thing for birds, so I need to paint a sign that has a bird on it that says ~ "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer... it sings because it has a song."
Grandpa ~ ?...
Mother in Law ~ Maybe a painted box to hold things in? [Not sure if she'd appreciate it or not]
Sister #1 & husband ~ Homemade Dog treats & ?
Sister #2 & hubby ~ They are cute and sort of an odd couple... last year I painted a portrait of them at a cafe, sort of Van Gogh style... this year, I'm doing a pen & ink drawing... a copy of a drawing I saw earlier this year that looked like them.
Brothers in Law ~ I doubt they'd appreciate anything handmade, so I wsa thinking of donating to heiffer International. (I figure nothing I give them will be good, unless it's a high priced item, so why not help people who'd appreciate it, ha... I love my BIL's, but they are spoiled.]

Neice ~ She's almost 3... I want to make her a wall organizer [they have a small space] and was thinking of doing a quilt, but my sister is making her one.. so I was thinking of making a little doll stuffed with rice that you can use for "boo boos" ? I don't know...

My girls ~ I was going to make them quilts, but my sister is, haha... So, I will probably make them doll quilts for thier American Girl dolls... I'd love to be able to make them beds, but I don't have time... Probably Library tote bags... my youngest one wants a tutu for one of her horse dolls...???

Husband ~ maybe an abstract painting of us?

That's all I've got, haha. I need to do something special for my other sister, as I feel like I didn't do enough for her last year [I helped her write a college report, haha.] I was thinking of making my grandma a cookbook for her crockpot... I don't know... I usually have good ideas for only a few people, and then I feel like the others don't get as special of gifts... Maybe I'll paint my sister & her boyfriend a portrait of my neice?

Yeah, still formulating...

Aubrey :)
