I'm going to repeat this challenge for at least another week, until I'm doing a better job of meeting it!

I'm snacking on an apple.

I wanted to try my whole grain bread in the machine again, but I had something else on my mind and made it the same as last time (i.e., white.)

I did buy three heads of romaine yesterday. That will help.

I like this idea of adding new foods! I tend to get stuck in a rut, eating the same things day in and day out. Today I'm after blueberries. I'm going to go pick my own from an organic blueberry orchard. Yum!

I agree about the hummus -- it's basically garbanzos and sesame seeds, with lemon juice, garlic and herbs.

I posted this challenge because I needed it, and have been awful about meeting it.

I made white bread yesterday, simply because that's the only recipe that works reliably in my new breadmaker, and I didn't want to mess with it. (and still end up with an unusable loaf!) I'm really trying to make all of my bread. Mid-week I'll try again to adapt my favorite whole grain recipe.

I think I'll go slice an apple. If it's out and cut, I'll eat it.

i would consider hummus a whole food if it's not loaded up with too many artificial ingredients. i love hummus!
this is so timely for me. i've not been doing too well with getting enough fresh fruits in my diet. i was snacking on fruits during the day, and i'm going to do that again.

Does hummus count as a whole food? It was 'all natural' and I tried it for the first time today. (Garlic roasted hummus, I think). I had it with some cucumber slices and it was pretty good.

Challenge, 7/31 - 8/11:

Each day eat one more whole food serving / item than you've been eating.

That could be switching from a refined cereal to a whole grain one at breakfast, or choosing corn tortillas instead of flour at lunch. Maybe you'll choose popcorn as an evening snack instead of something else. Maybe you'll add an afternoon snack of Cheerios and raisins, or carrot sticks, to avoid that ravenous feeling at dinner.

Please feel free to use this thread to post your intentions, your progress, your obstacles, your results!
