thanks! i'll have to check out some of his other books. my husband will eat just about anything, so becoming vegan is the farthest thing from his mind. i'll have to slowly pull him over.

I am also interested in his program and have read his books. Personally I'd really like to try it. My husband and I are already vegetarians and I think veganism is the next step for me but probably not for him. The Mcdougall books talk about how to cook for yourself and letting your family that isn't following the program add to the basic meal cheese etc. If I were you I'd read a few of his other books like the Mcdougall program for maximum weight loss. As for giving your family cheese and yogurt but worrying about milk...I'm the same way but I only give them organic dairy that is free of rennent(?).

I just got "The New McDougall Cookbook" from the library. I'd like to try it, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using this program with a family. It's basically a vegan diet, without oil. Cutting out oil, or most of it, shouldn't be too hard. My husband eats pretty much whatever I make. Also, I'm dragging my kids along with me. I don't give them cow's milk for various reasons, but for some reason, I still feel okay with giving them cheese and yogurt. Does this make sense? Okay. Anyway.... Any help would be appreciated.
