Could I recommend Laurel's Kitchen Bread Book?

This is an updated version of the book I've been using about 40 years. They have worked and experimented and worked some more to create delicious whole grain breads. And we benefit from the recipes being collected into this book.

I have the kindle version on my computer.

There are 2 different versions for cracked wheat.

"Cracked Wheat Bread I is the nearest thing to the popular commercial honey-wheatberry bread. It is light, pale, pretty, delicious— far better in every way than its store-bought counterpart. Cracked Wheat Bread II is a very different loaf: hefty, tender, with a rich full flavor that comes from the happy combination of wheat and dates. The wheat sings out because the bread has no dairy products to mellow its flavor; dates, with their natural fruity sugar, sweeten the loaf."

Flinders, Carol; Robertson, Laurel; Godfrey, Bronwen (2011-03-02). The Laurel's Kitchen Bread Book: A Guide to Whole-Grain Breadmaking (Kindle Locations 3230-3232). Random House, Inc.. Kindle Edition.

Anyone wanting to make whole grain bread would do well to get this book and begin the journey of learning about whole grains and turning them into delicious bread!!

Here in 'Ar it was 86 today and I'm trying to avoid turning on the AC until I have to! We pay more for AC than we do for heat I think.

I am originally from Minnesota with realitives in Mich so know what the weather is like there. We moved here from Wi three years ago and it has been a bit of an adjustment

Too hot to bake? Man, I wish we had that problem! It's cool, grey, and drizzling here in Southeast Michigan.

This is the one I'm going to try; Cracked Wheat Bread
Submitted by: LINDAKET I don't have the link because I did a copy and paste and put it in a Word document. You can find it by doing a search for cracked wheat bread. I will change out the brown sugar in the bread for honey although I really don't have a problem using a small amuont of brown sugar. I'll let you know how it works; not today though because it's just to hot to bake here today.

Can you share the recipe you chose, and after you make it, let us know whether it's any good? I've been disappointed by the last few bread recipes I've tried.

Thanks, I found one that sounds like just what I was looking for. I got spoiled living in Wi not far from an Amish store and used to buy frozen bread loaves from them and their cracked wheat was especially good.

I love making my own bread but don't have a good recipe for cracked wheat bread. Does anyone have one to share?
