That looks good. And in MY book bacon IS a whole food. It's minimally processed and about as closed to nature as you can get (it's just not the most healthy whole food -- but it IS yummy)

now -- they are best harvested after a hard frost so they are a winter vegetable.

I tend to roast them -- I recently made them pan sauteed with a honey mustard sauce (the recipe was adapted from Self magazine). I really recommend fresh over frozen, I don't much like them frozen.

Over the holidays, I dined with someone who served a wonderful Brussel Sprouts Bread Loaf. She had wanted to serve a zucchini bread loaf but realized she had forgotten to buy the zucchini. She used a basic zucchini recipe but substituted Brussel Sprouts instead, and it was awesome.

We grew them once, and they are funny-looking. Think of a very tall kale plant with little tiny cabbages on it's stalk.

At Jazzyjas's suggestion, I am starting a thread to honor our veggie of the week--the brussel sprout!

Please post your ideas for cooking this veggie.

I picked the brussel sprout for 2 reasons. First, it's in season right now. Second, I don't like them, and I'm hoping someone can give me a recipe that will turn me into a fan of the brussel sprout.
