Hi, and welcome!

MoonOwl: I'm so glad this is working for you!

DeeAnn: I'm open to the idea of starting a new thread, but I'm not likely to title it Christian Women Team Chat! LOL!

Ok, everybody. It's a new month...I'll create a new thread.

congrats on your good start -- that's great. Check out the Christian Women Team Chat. I think it's replaced this thread. Seems like when a thread gets too long it loads slower, so the team leader starts a new one.

Good luck and keep up the good work

As much as I love the change of seasons, I have to say it might be really nice to just have a garden full of veggies availabe all the time. Even if it were warmer here year round, we live in town and have almost no yard. AND where we lived before, everything we planted grew, BUT here - nothing seems to want to grow. And I'm just talking things like tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.

Thanks, Dee. Yes, I'm really lucky when it comes to veggies. We live in an area where we can garden year-round, so I always have something fresh to eat. It varies by the season. Right now we have carrots, beets, lots of different kinds of greens, and broccoli. The snow peas are just starting.

Hi Debbie,

How awesome to have the veggies right at home like that. When I buy them, I have to be careful of how much I buy -- so they don't spoil.

Welcome to the team -- sounds like you'll be a good resource for veggie questions. :)

Well, I joined this team a while ago but in the holiday madness, I never checked out your boards. So, maybe it's time to introduce myself.

I'm Debbie, age 52, married to the best gardener in the world. We sell veggies at the local farmers market.

Yes, I know that the mystery shop I did on Thursday would not have made me as sick as it did if I had not already eaten other food that I know is not good for my body.

I've been making better choices at home; I need to work on being more organized so I don't wait until the last minute, then make poor choices when nothing is planned or ready.

I'm with you on getting back to making eating clean and exercising my number one priority. I let myself get totally out of control over the holiday, and as a consequence have a wicked chest cold. I truly believe it's because of the junk I put into my body.

My new year started December 26 - all the best to the rest of you in the coming year - especially to you Flo - I send good karma your way for improved health.

Well, it's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegone....

Ooops, wrong context. It has been a quiet week, though.

I hope you all have enjoyed time spent with family and friends. The holiday food free-for-all is almost behind us. There's still time to make some healthy adjustments to the New Year's Eve plans, if needed. (In the middle of typing that sentence I got up, thawed some mini whole wheat pita from Trader Joe's and served myself some (homemade) hummus.

I've had a few bad days, medically, but I've made some new friends, and been able to help some people through freecycle.

I did glean some citrus on Wednesday. I shared some and have been enjoying the rest.

I have a strong sense of being on the verge of major changes in my life, but I don't know what those changes are.

Some things seem to be falling in line. Franklin Covey discontinued my planner refill, so I had to choose another. Rather than go with my second choice, which is also being discontinued, I bought the Julia Morgenstern Organizing From the Inside Out refill, which uses a different approach. I'm going to sit down with that later and work through the philosophy and setup.

Several weeks ago I got a free pass to my favorite gym through the end of the year. I went once and cut the tip off my thumb the next morning, so I haven't been back. (I use the pool.) I want to restructure my life to make exercise and eating right non-negotiable.

And I've got to stop accepting fast food mystery shops, even with a bonus.

I'm just kind of rambling here.

I'm looking forward to having everyone back, participating!

Flo

Just a quick note of Merry Christmas to my new friends on Whole Foods.

Some of you have truly made an impact on my life.

I wish you all great blessings and prayers for a Happy Holiday season.

Enjoy and celebrate. Sigh. A savior (our savior) was born....

Lybbe, I'm with you on that one. It's been sooo hard learning to live without my on-line contacts. I just got my laptop back -- and can connect to the router, but can't get it to connect wirelessly on-line. AND, just as I was about to begin to re-load most of my software, I got the same error message that seem to have started the whole mess in the first place. Soooo, I think I'll wait till I can call Micron (I still have another year of warranty left) -- If I could have know it was probably hardware and not software, I would have called them first and saved myself about $280 !!!!

Anyway... have a very merry Christmas!

emoticon Just droppin by to say Hi

I may be going through major withdrawals before the holiday is over. This is my last day of work -- and my home computers aren't really working. So I may not be able to get on line again till Wednesday !!!!! I may have to call 911 if the symptoms get too bad - lol

Merry Christmas to all!

Hmmm. A little effort yeah.... but
probably worth it.

I wonder if the juice is freezer safe???. Then I only use the thing/clean it once a week.

Yup - the pulp is dry. The juice is good. Those containers aren't hard to clean. It's the mesh thingie that does the juicing that's difficult. You have to clean it with a toothbrush. It's like the mesh you see on electric razors for shaving. I just don't have the patience. I'm not sure how it would clean in a dishwasher. We gave ours up years ago.

Funny thing you guys. I slept like poop last night so was subjected to the infomercials from about 2am on...

I decided to not only get into day trading (ha ha)

but seriously have Santa deliver me the Jack Lalane juicer

It's $50 off right now..for a total of about $100. You can put whole foods with rinds in there (except citrus, and not sure why)...

And the pulp is dry- so it extracts the heck out of fruit and vegies. They didn't even chop, they just shove it all through!

THEN... the pulp, heck they have recipes for the FIBER filled pulp... Muffins breads you name it!

Anyhow I'm sold.

That's what Santa is getting me for Christmas. It's a healthy splurge and I deserve it.

I wish Santa would get you guys one too ... really.

:) Oh, and as to cleaning it, because the pulp is very dry, it just rinses out. There are two cotnainers, one for juice and one for pulp. Both were placed in the dishwasher.

Sounds good, eh? :)

I wish I had a juicer. But I do have a fine working blender.

I'm not sure how it would do with oranges or apples, though.

Ah well. NExt Christmas, maybe!

WillyBoy - we have a juicer but we never use it because I hate cleaning it. Flo's VitaMix is what I lust after, but I can't justify the price. I just toss everything into the blender and drink it that way. I know it's not the same as extracted juice, but until I win the lottery it will have to do.

Hey Flo,

My mom gave me a juice machine a few months ago and I have not used it. This post has given me motivation to test it out. I like all sorts of juice and I would be fun to make my own without any preservatives or additives.

Things have been really bad, but I've made some better decisions.

I'm sitting here drinking some whole food juice from my Vita-Mix. A carrot, orange, half an apple and a small can of pineapple juice. I drink it over a period of hours, but I'll have a slice of wheat toast to slow the sugar rush.

The kitchen re-org is continuing to pay off, even though I've neglected the maintenance for the last week. (Hmm, since I cut the tip off my finger? It seems to be securely closed, now.)

Back to work, now.

Flo
